Jake Paul ‘can’t punch properly’ as coach Shane McGuigan tells Tommy Fury how to beat boxing rival in grudge fight

Fury has been forced to pull out twice before due to a rib injury in December 2021 and US visa issue last August.
Before he was denied access into America, the boxer linked up with McGuigan with his dad John and brother Tyson also unable to travel.
The esteemed British trainer will not be involved in the latest rescheduling of the fight, but has backed Fury to win.
McGuigan told SecondsOut: “I feel like he had a good jab, he had good feet and really that is enough to beat Jake Paul, in my eyes.

“A guy who is explosive, throws a good right hook over the top but really leaves his feet behind him, is not programmed to punch properly.
“Reasonably fast hands and it’s all in rotation but he doesn’t move his feet, and track and punch, he’s boxing guys that are static and standing there.
“So, yeah I think if he sticks to the jab, gets himself moving and doesn’t trade up with him just busts him up with the jab for three or four rounds, he should beat him.”
Fury, 23, becomes the first opponent Paul, 26, will face with a recognised professional boxing record.

And McGuigan believes his experience around two-time champion Tyson, 34, sets him up for success in the Middle East.
He said: “Well, understanding boxing you’ve got to say that Tommy Fury knows a lot more about boxing than Jake Paul.
“Because he understands it, he’s been around it, he’s seen it first-hand what you have to do to win world title fights.
“How you have to spar and how you have to go through these training camps.
“Not just setting up a ring in your house, eating cereal and whatever and going and doing a little session, and then going out and making a little YouTube video and going back and doing another little session.
“That’s not how world champions train, at least he’s been round a gym that knows what you need to do to win these fights.
“Jake Paul’s a good athlete and he’s getting success through his athletic prowess but not necessarily through his boxing technical ability. So it does lie in Tommy’s favour.”

But instead, the YouTube, music and crossover boxing star agreed to fight Dillon Danis, who later pulled out.
Woodley, 40, leaked his proposed contract with KSI, 29, which had an agreement to weigh 175lb and a rehydration clause of 185lb.
And he said on The MMA Hour: “The negotiation of the contract was very disrespectful, and it made me want to hurt him.
“So I told this to his manager. I was on a call with his manager and I said, ‘Never in my life have I been disrespected like this in a contract.’”

The plan was initially for Logan Paul, 27, to face MMA fighter Danis, 29, with KSI against Woodley.
But Paul got injured while starring in the WWE, so KSI instead turned to Danis.
Eventually the American former training partner of Conor McGregor pulled out.

KSI said on Twitter: “Look, I’ve got several options. I think tomorrow I’m going to have a little call with my team, figure out what we’re going to do.
“There’s plenty of options. We can have a few Misfits events to try and help with our options.
“But obviously a lot of people are saying me versus Salt Papi, and you know that could be an option.

The two then renegotiated for last August in New York until Fury was denied entry to America.
Paul would go on to beat UFC legend Anderson Silva, 47, two months later over eight rounds, his biggest win to date.
And he insisted the time since first putting pen to paper on a fight with Fury has benefited his development more.
Paul said: “It’s definitely helped me way more. Because like I’ve said, I’ve only been boxing for two years and 364 days as a pro.
“So I’ve got exponentially better and beating a guy like Anderson Silva, that experience is literally priceless.
“Going eight rounds with Anderson Silva is priceless experience and he hasn’t been in the gym dedicated like I have.
