I went from making videos in my bedroom to having all the money I need – now it’s time to give back, says KSI

KSI has completed the stunning rise from a teenage gamer in his bedroom to multimillionaire superstar – now he wants to give back. The 29-year-old – real name Olajide Olayinka Williams Olatunji – started his YouTube channel in 2009.

And over a decade later, KSI has become a pioneer of the social media site, with over 40 MILLION subscribers.
His content creation has taken him into the world of movies, music and now boxing, earning him a reported net worth of around £20m.
But after making enough to cash one could ever wish for, KSI tells SunSport inspiring others is now his main focus.
In an exclusive interview, he said: “I think once I made a certain amount of money, I kind of got to the point where I was like, I’m happy, I’m comfortable, I can do whatever I want, I have that freedom.

“So it’s like, OK now that I’ve made a decent amount, why don’t I just do more with my legacy?
“Show the world that a boy who started in his bedroom can just become whatever he wants if he really puts his mind to something.
“And with that, I want to help more people, do more charity work, do more on the ground just to really help as many people as I can as well as making videos to entertain.
“As well as knocking people out and showing people that you can make something of your life, be healthy, be strong and just be a better person in general.

“That’s what I feel like life is all about, just being a better person throughout this journey of life.”
KSI, 29, returns to the boxing ring tonight against millionaire nightclub tycoon-turned 9-0 boxer Joe Fournier, 40, on DAZN PPV.
And he does so amid the sensational rise of his drinks company Prime, launched with old rival and now business partner Logan Paul, 28.
KSI also continues to upload videos to his own YouTube channels all while running his newly-founded promotional company Misfits Boxing.
But still the internet sensation somehow finds time to attend to all his various ventures – unlike others in the business.
He said: “It’s all based on yourself, if you want to put more work in, if you want to put more drive into something, you can do it.
“After training, I find some time to show, eat, and then I make a video.
“Then I play games and I’ll make another video if I really want to, or I’ll see what my schedule is saying.

“I make time for everything, there’s what 24 hours in a day and you’re sleeping for what, eight hours of it? That’s 16 hours to do a lot.
“I’m training for about three hours, that’s stil 13 hours to do stuff. Are you telling me there’s no time to do anything else?
“I feel like, I’ve said it before there’s certain influencers, especially in the boxing scene that are being lazy, simple as that.
“They’re taking money and just being happy with that, I’m just thee trying to be the blueprint of you can be more and get more because of it.”
KSI knocked out gamer Faze Temperrr, 29, in January and his post-fight interview was gatecrashed by Fournier, 40, who demanded he be next.
So he accepted the challenge and faces the biggest test in his boxing career against an opponent with prior professional experience.
KSI said: “He wanted it the most. He’s a pro boxer, 9-0 and I thought, ‘Yeah, screw it, why not?’
“Even after I knocked out Temperrr, he was there, in the ring, constantly getting in my face like, ‘I want this fight.’

I was drinking and doing drugs before boxing showed up out of nowhere and saved me, says Jake Paul

JAKE PAUL has opened up on how boxing prevented him from his life spiralling out of control on drink and drugs. The American shot to fame on social media app Vine and later YouTube along with his brother Logan.
Jake Paul formerly lived a life of partyingCredit: @jakepaul
And in pursuit of fame and fortune, both moved to Los Angeles where their life moved in the fast lane.
But it almost became too much for Paul until thankfully a shock career in boxing helped turn his life around.
He bravely told DAZN: “I was drinking, doing drugs, doing all sorts of crazy s*** in Los Angeles, not being myself.
“Because that’s what happens when you’re drinking like that and doing those things like that.

“I needed something to save me and boxing showed up out of nowhere.
“I definitely worry – that side of me is the Problem Child side of me – that can get involved in those of things.
“But everybody has a story and I’m just now comfortable telling that story because I was kind of embarrassed by it.
“I didn’t know if I could talk about those things, I didn’t want to say that I had those problems or was doing those things.
    Most read in Boxing
“But I was like, if I can share my story about that and finding boxing and saving me then maybe someone else will be able to relate.”
Paul, 26, made his professional boxing debut in 2020, beating online rival AnEsonGib.
It kickstarted a polarising prizefighting career which has seen the social media sensation headline around the world.
He even moved out of LA in late 2020 to rid of any distractions, since building an isolated base in Puerto Rico.
Paul has wins over ex-MMA champions Ben Askren, 38, Tyron Woodley, 41, and Anderson Silva, 48.
But he was beaten in his last bout in February by boxer Tommy Fury, 23, losing a split-decision in Saudi Arabia.
Paul now returns on August 5 in Texas against ex-UFC star Nate Diaz, 38, in a bid to prove he can bounce back from defeat.
And having seen boxing change his life, the Most Valuable Promotions boss insisted he will be a mainstay in the sport.

Paul said: “One hundred per cent, always. Promoting fights, helping fighters, using my platform.
“I’ve even thought about getting my referee’s licence. Wouldn’t that be funny? Wouldn’t that be funny, if I’m like in the ring, refitting a match?”

Watch KSI SHOVE Joe Fournier as face-off descends into chaos and security forced to step in ahead of boxing fight

KSI shoved Joe Fournier and security had to step in as their face-off descended into chaos ahead of Saturday’s fight. The YouTube, music and crossover boxing star returns tomorrow night at Wembley Arena against Fournier.

But tempers boiled over when the two came head-to-head just a few hours before they are due to share the ring.
The rivals went nose-to-nose – bumping foreheads – before breaking away to pose for pictures.

But suddenly KSI shoved Fournier, which forced security to get in between them.
KSI, 29, returns in the biggest test of his career against the nightclub tycoon-turned 9-0 boxer

And Fournier, 40, insisted the social media sensation is feeling the pressure of the moment and lashing out was evidence to that.
He said: “I think he’s scared and insecure, he’s not been there with a real fighter before.
“I think his emotions are boiling over which is exactly the strategy we want, we want him coming out swinging.
“That makes even bigger mistakes earlier on and we’re not trying to be here all night, we’re trying to get him out of there in the first round.”

KSI last fought in January, knocking out gamer Faze Temperrr, 29, to take his record in the ring to five wins and one draw.
Fournier meanwhile has not boxed in a professional capacity since 2017 but faced musician Reykon and ex-heavyweight champion David Haye in 2021.
But the businessman and boxer claimed he is in the best shape of his life – partly due to cutting out SEX in training camp.
Fournier revealed: “I couldn’t be any better. I’ve sparred the best guys I could find, I’ve trained twice a day.
“I’ve stopped the alcohol for six weeks, I stopped the shagging for a month – which was very difficult for me!
“And yeah, I’m focussed, I’m ready and I really want to win, actually.
“That’s the reality, from the bottom of my heart I really want to win this fight, because it could be my last one.
“It could be the one I retire off, so let’s go out with a bang, Wembley Arena, West London where I grew up.”

KSI reveals fighting on same night as brother Deji stresses out their parents but ‘unites us even more’

KSI faces millionaire nightclub tycoon-turned boxer Joe Fournier while Deji returns against rapper Swarmz.
The last time the Olatunji brothers boxed on the same night, they both walked away with wins.
But it came at the cost of stressing out their dad Jide so much that he will forfeit a ringside seat tomorrow night.
KSI, 29, told SunSport: “I don’t think my dad’s coming this time because it just stresses him out, man.

“And my mum, I think the last time she watched my bro win, she started breaking down crying.
“It’s a lot for her and it’s a lot for my dad, but we always reassure them.
“We always tell them we’ll work hard, train hard and we always try to make sure we get the W.”
KSI first boxed in 2018, beating online rival Joe Weller, 27, before drawing to Logan Paul, 28, in the same year.

But in his 2019 rematch with Paul, he won a split-decision in what was also his professional debut.
KSI would go on to have three years out of the ring to focus on a fledging music career before making a boxing comeback in August.
He won twice in one night – beating Swarmz and Mexican boxer Luis Pineda.
But the story of the night belonged to younger brother Deji, 26, who snapped a three-fight losing streak to win for the first time.
It provided a memorable night for KSI and his family, who cherished the moment in unity.
KSI revealed: “You saw what happened after Misfits 001, we were all celebrating, having the time of our lives.
“It was just an awesome moment, I was bouncing, jumping around just having the time of my life.

“For me and my family, we’re all very good, in a great space and the boxing, I feel like it unites us even more.
“We throw each other memes left, right and centre just to joke around but everyone’s in good spirits.
“My bro’s feeling good, my dad is – always nervous – but he’s also feeling good. My mum is also feeling nervous but excited to see what we do in the ring.”
Deji beat American influencer Fousey, 33, and then went on to face boxing legend Floyd Mayweather, 46, in an exhibition bout in November.
Meanwhile, KSI knocked out gamer Faze Temperrr, 29, in January and fears a repeat performance against Fournier, 40, will scare off future rivals.
He said: “It’s actually a good point, maybe I should stop winning so emphatically.
“Maybe I should just start winning through split-decisions and stuff like that!
“The way I knocked out Temperrr would terrify a lot of people to want to fight me.

But KSI already has some blockbuster names in mind should he defeat Fournier and remain undefeated in the ring.
He told SunSport: “My next three fights? I mean Jake Paul, obviously. Tommy Fury and who else?
    “I don’t know… Conor McGregor. F*** it, why not?”

So now KSI has set his sights on one-upping his great nemesis by trying to finish what he started.
