He had been an unused sub in the match, having missed the Premier League games before the Newcastle clash with a muscle strain.
And he was lucky he didn’t do himself another injury while wildly celebrating Liverpool’s winner last night.
Carvalho’s strike at the death cued Matip to fall to the floor, before the defender slammed the ground with his arms in delight.
He was caught by the BT cameras performing the bizarre celebration, and soon went viral.

Carvalho’s strike, and Matip’s celebrations, came on a dramatic night at Anfield.
Newcastle record signing Alexander Isak put Toon ahead before the break, but the Reds hit back through Roberto Firmino and new boy Carvalho.
There was drama on the sidelines too, as members of both dugouts clashed in ugly scenes.
The rival benches confronted each other and a member of the Toon staff threw objects in the direction of the home team’s technical area after Carvalho’s last-gasp goal. More

And the crowd could be in for a huge surprise as the Gypsy King has not been announced on the line-up.
Fury will reportedly be in Cardiff this weekend for Wrestlefest before making an appearance at Clash of the Castle.
But the heavyweight champion is unlikely to be involved in a match and may just be revealed to the crowd, report GiveMeSport.
He did exactly that in Smackdown’s debut on FOX in October 2019 before going on to wrestle and defeat Braun Strowman in the same month.

Some fans have speculated Fury will be involved in Drew McIntyre’s fight with Roman Reigns following the pair’s war of words.
Scot McIntyre has called out Fury for a ‘Battle of Britian’ fight in the past with the Gypsy King vowing to knock him out.
McIntyre later accused Fury of stalking him on social media so it is possible they could finally come face to face in the ring at the Principality Stadium.
But it is believed Fury will not get physical as he wants to avoid injury ahead of a return to boxing.

And the 46-year-old recently claimed a representative from a prominent bare-knuckle boxing promotion approached him about facing Iron Mike at Madison Square Garden later this year.
Lashley told Fightful Select the talks weren’t formal and were more of a “feeling-out process.”
According to DAZN reporter Steven Muehlhausen, the promotion in question was Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship.
He tweeted: “Confirmed: The company that has approached Lashley is Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC).

But he’s under no illusions of the fight being an easy one, saying: “I’m a fighter.
“Am I out here saying, ‘Yeah, I could go whoop Mike Tyson?’
“That’d be stupid for me to say, and that would be disrespectful for me to say, so I’m not saying that.
“I’m just saying that if I had an opportunity to fight Mike Tyson, I would take it 100 per cent,” he told Inside The Ropes.
“It would be a huge honour to fight Mike Tyson. Look at the upside; if I were to catch ‘Iron Mike’ with a punch to put him down, I’m the greatest person in the world.
“I’m in movies, I’m everywhere, I’m the biggest sports star in the entire world if that ever happened.”

He then returned to boxing four months later and stopped Deontay Wilder to claim the WBC heavyweight title.
Fury would go on to beat Wilder again in October 2021, before defending his belt for a second time in April as he brutally knocked out Dillian Whyte at Wembley Stadium.
After the win over Whyte, Fury reiterated his claims before the bout that he was retiring from boxing.
He recently insisted it would take £500million to force him back into the boxing ring out, despite many wanting him to face the winner of the rematch between Oleksandr Usyk and Anthony Joshua.

Fury has been linked with an exhibition clash against the likes of UFC champion Francis Ngannou and Thor – real name Hafthor Bjornsson.
But according to GiveMeSport, the world heavyweight champion’s next in-ring action is in talks to take place in the WWE.

Fury stated earlier this year that he planned to return to wrestling in both July and September.
But the report now states that with his other commitments away from the ring – most notably a meet and greet tour – it is more likely that his comeback would be at Clash at the Castle on September 3.

The undefeated boxer has exchanged trash talk with WWE superstar Drew McIntyre for some time.
