Qatar World Cup 2022 cabins look like shipping containers and will set fans back almost £200 a NIGHT

SUPPORTERS heading to the World Cup will fork out almost £200-a-night to stay in “cabins” that resemble a glorified shipping container. The biggest event in football hits Qatar next month but supporters heading to the Middle East to stay in the Fan Village will find themselves packed in like sardines.

Accommodation has been one of the main issues for England fans and their respective counterparts from other nations ahead of the big kick-off.
Fifa World Cup Qatar 2022 officials have today announced that 30,000 rooms have been added to accommodation offerings with just over 30 days until the opening game, according to The Peninsula.
These range from apartments, villas, cruise ship hotels, hotels and the fan villages.
However, Bloomberg have revealed what the current state of the latter is – and you could be forgiven for thinking you were looking at a shipping dock rather than the tournament’s official fan village.

The Qatar 2022 website describes it as: “Fan Village Cabins Zafaran offer a choice of a double or twin en-suite bedroom, sleeping up to two people. Amenities in each cabin include tea and coffee making facilities, two bottles of water per day, a fridge, bed linen and bathroom towels.
“The village’s on-site facilities include a number of food outlets offering a range of cuisines.
“Just a short distance away are Lusail Shooting Club, Losail International Circuit and Lusail Stadium. The nearest metro station gives guests the opportunity to explore tourist sites, including Katara beach and cultural village, West Bay, Souq Waqif and Msheireb Downtown Doha.”
Any England, or any other fans wishing to attend and stay there, will have to fork out £183-a-night per unit.

The official computerised images used to advertise the accommodation does provide an insight into how cramped the conditions will be – but Bloomberg’s aerial shot gives a much greater view of exactly how tight it will get.
The photo was taken last month after the author of the article spotted what they thought were “shipping containers” – and they go on to recommend it “if you’re willing to take a chance on an adventure” but warns against it if you want to be sure “you’ll get a good night’s sleep”.
Qatar will welcome around 1.2m visitors next month and now they at least have an additional 30,000 rooms to choose from if they don’t fancy living on top of each other at the fan village.
Supreme Committee for Delivery &Legacy Director General, Eng. Yasir Al Jamal, said: “There is a high demand for accommodation, especially among the group stages.
“We have sold around 2 million room nights throughout the tournament, and I’m happy to announce that an additional 30,000 rooms have been added to the Accommodation Agency platform.
“That’s equivalent to around 1 million room nights in line with the last minute ticket sales.”

Fans heading to Qatar will be able to drink for up to 19 HOURS a day at the official fan festival.
There will also be a fan zone curated by Arcadia, hosts of the spectacular arena which features at the Glastonbury Festival.
But a pint won’t come cheap – with a beer expected to cost £8 – and special “sobering up” tents have been announced for those deemed to be too tipsy.
Another issue for fans to watch out for is taking their tops off. Those who strip off have been warned they face being slapped with a hefty fine.
England begin their World Cup campaign against Iran on November 21.
They then take on USA on November 25 before their final group clash with Wales four days later. More

Injured XI: Stars who look set to miss the World Cup including N’Golo Kante, Reece James, Paul Pogba and Diogo Jota

A NUMBER of major stars are set to miss out on next month’s World Cup due to injuries. The unprecedented mid-season tournament has left players in the perilous position of knowing an early season strain could stop them going to Qatar.

Several have already suffered that fate, with the likes of Portuguese stars Diogo Jota and Pedro Neto and French defender Boubacar Kamara certain to miss football’s biggest competition.
But others, such as Chelsea duo Reece James and N’Golo Kante, and Juventus’ Paul Pogba, remain major doubts and could potentially make it with a rapid rehabilitation.
There are now so many players with injuries threatening their World Cup place an entire starting XI can be put together.
In goal would be the Argentine stopper Juan Musso, whose injury has been disrupted with a face injury.

The keeper, whose club is Italian side Atlanta, had facial surgery to mend the issue but could miss out on Qatar.
Doubts also surround Real Madrid keeper Thibaut Courtois, who has missed all of his club games since the international break due to injury.
In defence would be Kamara, who tore his knee ligaments only eight games into his Villa career.
He would be joined by Barcelona and Uruguay star Ronald Araujo who suffered a thigh injury in September and is likely to miss out.

Left-back Lucas Digne is another French star from their injury-hit international squad who is set to miss out, while England’s right-back Reece James’ World Cup future is hanging in the balance after he limped off against AC Milan in the Champions League.
In midfield French pair N’Golo Kante and Paul Pogba are both major doubts. Kante has not played any football since August as he struggles with reoccurring injuries.
While Pogba’s return to Juventus was sullied after a knee injury which could see him fail to make Didier Deschamps’ squad.
The pair are joined in the injury XI by ex Liverpool ace Georginio Wijnaldum. The Dutch midfielder played just one game on loan at Roma before suffering a fractured tibia in his right leg.
Doubts also remain about Kalvin Phillips’ fitness due to his shoulder injury.
Up front and Mexico’s Raul Jimenez could face a struggle to get to Qatar. The Wolves striker is dealing with a groin issue.

His club teammate Pedro Neto will be absent from the World Cup after sustaining an ankle injury against West Ham earlier this month.
While making up the front three would be Diogo Jota who it was announced today would definitely be missing out after he was stretchered off in Liverpool’s win over Manchester City. More

England rivals Iran should be KICKED OUT of World Cup 2022 after deaths of more than 200 protesters, campaigners demand

FIFA are being urged to kick Iran out of the World Cup just a month before the brutal Islamic state plays its opener in Qatar against England.Campaigners are demanding football’s world governing body take a stand after more than 200 protesters were killed in a crackdown by Iran’s religious morality police.

The country has been rocked by an uprising triggered when a student died in police custody after she was held for not wearing her headscarf correctly.
It comes as Iran faces global outrage for shipping weapons to Vladimir Putin’s beleaguered forces in Ukraine.
The kamikaze drones which slammed into residential areas of Kyiv yesterday killing at least seven people came from Iran.
The hijab protests erupted last month after student Mahsa Amini, 22, died following her arrest in Tehran by the country’s religious morality police.

More than 200 people including 23 children have since died in the biggest threat to the Islamic state since it seized power in the 1979 revolution.
Protesters are now demanding Fifa act with just 34 days to go before Iran’s opener in Qatar against the Three Lions at the Khalifa International Stadium on November 21.
Even Iran’s own players have slammed their government.
Striker Sardar Azmoun, 27, who plays for Bayer Leverkusen in the German Bundesliga, said on Instagram: “Shame on you for killing the people and women of Iran.”

And former team manager and ex-captain Ali Daei, 53, who held the record for most international goals with 109 until it was overtaken by Cristiano Ronaldo, had his passport confiscated when he spoke out.
A petition which has gained more than 12,000 signatures on change.org called on Fifa to boot the country out of the tournament.
It accused Iran of suppressing “legitimate protests” by “arresting, torturing, and killing” its own citizens.
Another group is campaigning under the slogan #DisqualifyIranianRegimeFromTheWorldCup.
A spokesman said: “Iran violates international human rights time and time again. It disregards international conventions leading to horrific, extreme human rights violations and terror acts against their own citizens.
“Even the agreement with Fifa to allow women to attend qualification games for the World Cup was rescinded by this regime who sent their forces to violently keep women from entering the stadium.
“The Iranian regime crushes human rights on a daily basis – Iran should be disqualified from the Fifa World Cup.”
We will hold you to account for your repression of women and girlsJames Cleverly
Britain has imposed sanctions on the morality police in an attempt to end the violent clampdown.
Foreign Secretary James Cleverly said: “These sanctions send a clear message to the Iranian authorities – we will hold you to account for your repression of women and girls and for the shocking violence you have inflicted on your own people.”
But campaigners feel that kicking Iran out of the World Cup would send a much stronger message to the brutal regime.
Meanwhile, President Volodymyr Zelensky has accused Iran of supplying weapons to Russia.
Iranian-made drones killed at least seven people in the latest attacks on residential areas of Kyiv yesterday.
And Western officials have said that Iran plans to supply more attack drones and surface-to-surface missiles to use against Ukrainian cities and troop positions.

And he is understood to be a serious contender for Gareth Southgate’s 26-man squad following injuries to Kyle Walker and Reece James.
Gomez, 25, has not played for England for two years after suffering a serious knee injury in a training session while on international duty.
But he has been capped 11 times by Southgate.
And the Three Lions boss remains an admirer of the Reds defender, who can operate in central defence or at right-back.

Chelsea full-back James is out of the World Cup with a knee injury.
Meanwhile, Manchester City man Walker is a serious doubt after undergoing groin surgery.
It is Walker’s berth on the right-hand side of Southgate’s back three, which might open the door for Gomez – along with doubts over the form and fitness of Manchester United captain Harry Maguire.
Southgate’s assistant Steve Holland was at Anfield to watch Gomez perform impressively against City goal machine Erling Haaland on Sunday, while Southgate had been at the Aston Villa v Chelsea match.

Walker has talked up his own prospects of being fit for Qatar but Southgate is not thought to be optimistic about the player.
The England boss might, though, be tempted to include the City man in his squad even if he is unable to prove his match fitness before the opening match against Iran on November 21.
Southgate named Maguire in his squad for last year’s Euros, even though he was unable to play in England’s opening two matches and he went on to have an excellent tournament.
With an expanded 26-man squad available, Southgate could decide that a similar gamble is worthwhile with Walker. More

I’m a WAG and World Cup veteran – I know exactly how England’s other halves can deal with Qatar’s ruinous rules

I’M usually a firm believer that rules are made to be broken. But the strict list of World Cup dos and don’ts issued by England chiefs to this year’s Wags are not to be trifled with.

Our girls have been warned that if they put a stiletto-clad foot wrong in strict Qatar, they could end up in prison.
My heart goes out to them, because they’ve been issued with a manifesto for party poopery.
No booze, no skimpy outfits, no PDAs, no singing in public and even no selfies, at least not outside official buildings.
The Wags simply won’t know what to do with themselves.

The likes of Sasha Attwood, Jack Grealish’s girlfriend, and her fellow England Wags should be looking forward to the World Cup and all the glitz and glamour that comes with it.
Instead, they’ll be worrying that they could get in trouble for doing perfectly normal things.
I’ve been lucky enough to go to two World Cups, Germany in 2006 and South Africa in 2010, and it might sound silly, but I’m not exaggerating when I say the Wags play a huge part in creating the special atmosphere.
In South Africa I was treated like a superstar. I can hardly tell you what it was like there.
    Most read in The Sun
I kept thinking, ‘Have they got me mixed up with someone?’.
The World Cup is meant to be an international party, and we were there to support our boys in the best way we knew how.
But with the risk of a crisis in Qatar if anyone has too much fun, I think those golden days have come to an end.
This year’s Wags have been told that public displays of affection, including kissing, will not be tolerated.
    Double whammy
That’s going to be tough. I remember watching my ex-husband Jason Cundy play for Chelsea and Tottenham, and when you’re watching a game, especially when they score, you leap up and hug.
You can’t help it, it’s instinct, you do it — these girls want to support their partner and they want to show affection. They want to show passion.
And if you’re on holiday with your partner, you are just openly affectionate without even thinking.
In fact, we’ve seen a few of the players be affectionate with the wrong person, so it’s a double whammy to the loyal partners. Then there’s the rules around wardrobe choices.
Wags love dressing up and are fully aware that when their partner scores a goal, all the cameras are straight on them.
We’ve seen a few of the players be affectionate with the wrong person, so it’s a double whammy to the loyal partners.
They want to look the bee’s knees — clothes are their life and they’ll obviously have got all their outfits ready for the matches. And for the girls to dress modestly? They haven’t got that in their vocab.
What is modest anyway? I know I’ve been out before and someone has said, ‘Ooh, that’s a bit racy’, and I’m like, ‘Gosh, this is nothing’.
Will they have to have their skirts below the knee? Will their shoulders be covered? And it’s going to be very hot — are you allowed to go out in a vest top?
They could get in trouble unless they’ve got a warden or someone there checking them from head to toe with a measuring tape saying, ‘No, that skirt’s too short’.
For girls used to rightly making their own choices about their own bodies, this will feel so wrong.
We all know the Wags love a good selfie, as we all do — and Qatar is a beautiful place — so taking a selfie is something these girls will do without even thinking.
They’ll want to put pictures out there — they’re at the World Cup, it’s the pinnacle of their partners’ careers — but taking a selfie in front of a government building is against the law.
A World Cup without Wags would be a sad sight
And we’re not just talking about a slap on the wrist here, this is serious stuff. It can lead to imprisonment, as well as fines.
Drinking in public, that’s another thing. What if they win and England go through? Are you saying they can’t celebrate with a drink?
They’re also not allowed to sing — so I can’t imagine how deathly dull the stadiums will sound.
Like many others, when I watch a football match, I get taken over by someone else and find myself singing my heart out until my throat is hoarse. It’s in you and you can’t stop it.
All of these rules are going to be broken, probably by accident — and we could see one of our girls actually being put in prison. Footballers’ wives get a really bad rap of being nothing but bimbos who love to shop and get their nails done and are just after the money.
But they’re not. A lot of them are intelligent women who have careers in their own right. They’re not used to being told what to do. They are strong, independent women who set their own rules.
f I were them, I’d make a stand against these regressive regulations and say, ‘We’re not going to go’. A World Cup without Wags would be a sad sight.
But after all the support they’ve given their partners, the Wags should expect to have their support in taking a stand, too.

I WILL never forget that first moment of seeing the Wags walking together in a line in Baden-Baden during the 2006 World Cup in Germany.
It was like The Beatles had come to town when Victoria Beckham, Coleen Rooney and the gang stepped out.
Everyone was like, “Wow. Who are they? What are they wearing?”.
They were everywhere and it was like nothing anyone had seen before. It was a time when the girls were really more popular than the players.
And England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson loved it, because the attention wasn’t on the boys.
They sold more magazines than if you had Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie on the front. I don’t think we’ll ever be seeing anything like that again.
    War of the sunglasses

IT was great seeing the girls watching the games and looking at how big their sunglasses were in 2006.
You had this hierarchy, with Victoria Beckham, at the top and then Cheryl Cole, because we knew them from the Spice Girls and Girl Aloud.
Then we had Coleen Rooney, who was new on the block, but you could see she had real star quality.
It was so fun to see the top girls angling for the best seat, and getting that money shot when their partner scores. Cameras went straight on to them, with their hair immaculate, huge sunglasses and lots of lip gloss. They looked like stars.

However, when I got there, I got the only room left, which was next to Prince Harry, on the top floor with a view.
I was like, “This is my kind of place!”. At the same hotel I gatecrashed the fanciest cocktail party, with David Beckham, Prince Harry and Prince William.
Prince Harry’s PR took a look at me and went, “What the hell are you doing here?”, and I was like, “There’s no party without the Cundy – I’m here!”.
Their faces went pale when they saw me walk in.

Why are Cameroon called the Indomitable Lions?
Teams around the globe all have their own nicknames for their sporting teams, but none are quite as impressive as that of Cameroon.
The African giants are known as the Indomitable Lions, a name so recognisable in African football as they competed at the very top.

Sharing a similar name to the Three Lions of England, Cameroon were previously nicknamed the Lions in a nod to the animal which lives mostly in the north of Cameroon.
However, in 1972, the country’s national team nickname was changed as the word indomitable was added to the beginning of their name.

By definition, indomitable means “impossible to subdue or defeat” and president Ahmadou Ahidjo decided to add this to the beginning of their nickname in order to make the team more recognisable and impressive.
Perhaps this paid off, with Africa Cup of Nations victories coming in 1988, 2000 and 2002 in a period of dominance for the Indomitable Lions. More

Have Qatar qualified for the World Cup before?
The game of football was first introduced to Qatar in the 1940’s and rose to popularity over the next decade, seeing a purpose built football venue built before further grounds were constructed 20 years later.
Qatar’s football association was established in 1960 and they officially became a FIFA member association in 1963.
However, it was not until 11 years later where the country attempted to qualify for a World Cup before their football association withdrew the entry.

Despite their best tries, Qatar have NEVER qualified for the World Cup until now, with FIFA awarding the country the right to host the 2022 tournament and being given a free qualification.

England’s World Cup rivals Iran could pick star who can score goals from halfway line with incredible throw-ins

Mohammadi went viral for launching a huge throw-in from the halfway line to create a chance for Pakyan in their 1-0 defeat against Persepolis in the Persian Gulf Pro League in February 2021.
He pulled off a brilliant acrobatic maneuver to launch the ball some 50 metres into the opposition penalty area to create a chance for his side.
It has become a signature move for Mohammadi and involves a front flip, but instead of bouncing off his hands he uses the ball to push himself back upright.
Incredibly Mohammadi has even used the trick to score.
