The 24-year-old is set to be available for the Algerian national team, according to the president of the Algerian Football Federation, Djahid Zefizef.
He said on TV 3: “Houssem Aouar has given us his agreement to join the Algerian selection.”
Zefizef also suggested that Rennes striker Amine Gouiri could follow suit.
He added: “We are also in discussion with Amine Gouiri. However, in his case, nothing has yet been decided.”

However, it appears that the president was jumping the gun as Aouar’s representatives have argued that no agreement has been reached.
The Lyon midfielder intends to switch his allegiance to the African side, and initial talks have started, according to GFFN.
His decision to make the switch is to boost his chances of playing international football again.
Aouar has not played internationally since 2020, when he made his one and only France appearance during a friendly against Ukraine.

The Red Devils’ dwindling golden generation was knocked out of the group stages following some poor results and reports of backstage turmoil.
According to HLN, assistant manager Henry wants to succeed Martinez and carry the national team out of its current slump.
The legendary striker initially joined the team’s coaching staff in 2016 and helped then finish third in the 2018 World Cup.
But the 45-year-old then pursued a management career of his own as he took over at Monaco but only lasted for three months.

The Frenchman then tried his luck in the MLS at Montreal Impact but left two years later as he wanted to be closer to his family in London.
Despite his limited experience, Henry wants the top job in Belgium even though he is set for a lower salary.

Martinez earned around €3million (£2.7m) per year, including bonuses.
The same report from Belgium claims the ex-Everton boss’ replacement will “almost certainly” make even less.

That means the Arsenal record goalscorer would bag even less than what he has earned as a pundit at Sky Sports and CBS, who have paid him around €5m (£4.4m) per year.
However, the ex-Barcelona star is not being deterred by that and has already informed the federation informally without officially applying.
The likes of Romelu Lukaku and Toby Alderweireld are very positive about Henry but it is unknown how the rest of the core team feels about him.
However, the France great inspires a lot of respect due to his successful playing career despite his previous coaching spells being short-lived. More

Harry Kane says he is hungrier to succeed than ever after World Cup penalty agony – and points to “unfinished business”

HARRY KANE says he is hungrier to succeed than ever after reflecting on his World Cup penalty agony. And the striker is delighted to see Gareth Southgate stay on as England boss, declaring that the current squad and staff have “unfinished business” ahead of Euro 2024.

Kane suffered the miss of his life when blazing over a spot-kick during the quarter-final defeat to France in Qatar nearly a month ago.
Had he converted like he did with an earlier penalty in the game, it would have levelled the scores at 2-2.
It is all shoulda, woulda, coulda now but scoring may have paved the way to a Three Lions comeback victory and perhaps even ultimate glory out in the Middle East.
Kane has had to chew over what might have been ever since but is now using the heartache as motivation in his bid to win a trophy at long last.

The England skipper, 29, said: “Of course, it was a tough moment for me personally.
“It’s never an easy thing to go through but it’s part of football, part of the highs and lows of our sport.
“I had a bit of time away after just to reflect and it’s made me even more hungry to come back and be successful.
“After it happened I just wanted to play again as quick as possible and get it out of my head.
    Most read in Football
“It’s something you have to deal with, I’ll probably remember it for the rest of my life but that’s part of the game.
“It’s not going to affect me as a player or as a person. I’ll keep working hard to improve.”
Ever the professional, Kane has responded with three goals in as many games for Tottenham since returning to action.
His double in Wednesday’s 4-0 demolition of Crystal Palace suggested he is suffering no kind of World Cup hangover and took his league tally to 15 in 18 games.
Southgate allayed any fears he would step down after Qatar by confirming last month that he intends to see out the remaining two years on his contract.
That will see him manage the nation at Euro 2024 in Germany – provided we qualify – where Kane already has his eyes on the title, having lost the 2020 final on penalties.
Asked if he had chatted to Southgate before the 52-year-old decided to continue, Kane replied: “No, we hadn’t spoken.
“We spoke after the France game and we had a day or so just to reflect but it’s his decision.
“I didn’t want to put any pressure on him and I think he knows how much we enjoy playing under him. He’s been fantastic for me and a lot of other English players as well.
“Business starts in March again and we’ve got another camp, we’ll be ready to go for that.
“I’m really happy (Southgate is staying). I feel like there’s some unfinished business there and he’s a fantastic coach.
“We’ve been close now on a few occasions. I thought we looked really strong in the tournament and it was small details that ended up not going our way.
“It will be nice to have another go at the Euros with the same team and the same staff, and try to win something with our country.”
Kane was teed up by impressive young Spaniard Bryan Gil for his second goal at Selhurst Park which was his 198th in the Premier League.
It was only Gil’s second Prem start but in the absence of the injured Dejan Kulusevski, the 21-year-old shone.
While England’s joint-record scorer Kane also assisted Son Heung-min for the struggling South Korean’s first goal in 13 games for club and country.
Spurs moved to within two points of fourth-placed Manchester United with the win.
Their form has been patchy of late but with league-leaders Arsenal up next in the league, after this weekend’s FA Cup hosting of Portsmouth, and then two games against Manchester City, there is a chance to play catch-up in the top-four race if they can pull off a few wins.
Though Kane is well aware how tough that will be, particularly given the imperious form of their arch-rivals under Mikel Arteta this term.
Kane added: “Arsenal are top of the league and playing really well so we’ll be ready for that.
“We’ve got to try to pick up some results ourselves and get some good momentum. We obviously have the FA Cup this weekend and then prepare for Arsenal.
“I’m really happy for Bryan. He’s waited patiently for his chance, worked really hard on the training pitch.
“Hopefully (the goal) can give (Son) loads of confidence now. He’s a really important player for us and we’re going to need him if we want to do anything important this season.”
Kane moved to within two of Jimmy Greaves’ record Tottenham haul of 266 goals with his brace.
It means there is a chance he breaks that number in the North London derby, particularly if he notches against Pompey on Saturday.
    Read More on The Sun
The forward, who has netted a whopping 14 goals against Arsenal so far in his career, said: “It would be a nice game to do it in, for sure, but who knows.
“I try not to think about them (records) too much. I try to just go out there, help my team and afterwards if I score a couple you guys (the media) can let me know what I’m doing.” More

Gio Reyna’s parents break silence over claims they tried to BLACKMAIL USA boss Gregg Berhalter over domestic violence

WORLD CUP star Giovanni Reyna’s parents have broken their silence over claims they tried to BLACKMAIL USA boss Gregg Berhalter over domestic violence. The Reynas were left unhappy by Berhalter’s public comments detailing how an unidentified player was nearly sent home from the US’ Qatar World Cup camp for not meeting expectations on and off the pitch.

Despite Berhalter not identifying the footie star by name, it was a clear reference to Reyna, and the Borussia Dortmund ace later confirmed it in an Instagram post the next day but faced fierce criticism on social media.
According to ESPN, furious with his former US team-mate and long-time pal over the treatment of his 20-year-old son, dad Claudio threatened to reveal sensitive details about Berhalter’s past to US Soccer executives.
Berhalter and Claudio played together growing up in New Jersey.
Claudio’s father, Miguel, also coached the pair at a young age and the two played high school football together at St. Benedict’s in Newark.

Austin FC sporting director Claudio was also Berhalter’s best man a his wedding.
In a call alongside wife Danielle, it was revealed that former US boss Berhalter had a past with domestic violence.
The Reynas have confirmed they revealed details of Berhalter’s altercation with wife and then girlfriend Rosalind outside a local bar as an 18-year-old freshman at the University of North Carolina.
Danielle was a room-mate and team-mate of Rosalind at UNC, and says she supported her “through the trauma that followed”.

They have, however, denied threats were made while sharing their frustrations to US Soccer sporting director Earnie Stewart over their son’s World Cup experience that saw him play just two times.
Danielle said in a statement: “To set the record straight, I did call (U.S. Soccer sporting director) Earnie Stewart on December 11, just after the news broke that Gregg had made negative statements about my son Gio at a leadership conference.
“I have known Earnie for years and consider him to be a close friend.
“I wanted to let him know that I was absolutely outraged and devasted that Gio had been put in such a terrible position, and that I felt very personally betrayed by the actions of someone my family had considered a friend for decades.
“As part of that conversation, I told Earnie that I thought it was especially unfair that Gio, who had apologized for acting immaturely about his playing time, was still being dragged through the mud when Gregg had asked for and received forgiveness for doing something so much worse at the same age.
“Without going into detail, the statements from yesterday significantly minimize the abuse on the night in question.
“Rosalind Berhalter was my roommate, teammate and best friend, and I supported her through the trauma that followed.
“It took a long time for me to forgive and accept Gregg afterward, but I worked hard to give him grace, and ultimately made both of them and their kids a huge part of my family’s life.
“I would have wanted and expected him to give the same grace to Gio. This is why the current situation is so very hurtful and hard.”
The statement continued: “At the time I called Earnie, many people were trashing Gio on social media due to Gregg’s comments, and I didn’t know when or if this would stop.
“I just wanted Earnie to help make sure that there would be no further unwarranted attacks on my son.
“I thought our conversation would remain in confidence, and it didn’t occur to me at the time that anything I said could lead to an investigation. I’m not criticizing Earnie here.
“I very much commend the recent efforts by U.S. Soccer to address abuse of women players, and I understand now he had an obligation to investigate what I shared.
“But I want to be very clear that I did not ask for Gregg to be fired, I did not make any threats, and I don’t know anything about any blackmail attempts, nor have I ever had any discussions about anyone else on Gregg’s staff—I don’t know any of the other coaches. I did not communicate with anyone in U.S. Soccer about this matter before December 11, and no one else in my family has made any statements to U.S. Soccer regarding Gregg’s past at all.
“I’m sorry that this information became public, and I regret that I played a role in something that could reopen wounds from the past.”
Claudio, a Hall of Famer who captained the US at two World Cups, issued a statement to The Athletic which read: “I support my wife, Danielle, and her statement.
“I too was upset by Gregg’s comments about Gio after the U.S. was out of the World Cup, and I also appealed to Earnie Stewart on December 11 asking him to prevent any additional comments.
“While in Qatar, I shared my frustrations about my son’s World Cup experience with a number of close friends, Earnie and Brian McBride among them.
“However, at no time did I ever threaten anyone, nor would I ever do so.”
Berhalter has since confirmed the altercation with Rosalind – his wife of 25 years and the mother to his four children – as a teenager and says “there are zero excuses” for his actions.
The ex-Crystal Palace defender has also confirmed that the authorities were never involved and that he sought help after the incident.
In a lengthy Twitter post, Berhalter said: “During the World Cup an individual contacted U.S. Soccer, saying that they had information about me that would ‘take me down’ – an apparent effort to leverage something very personal from long ago to bring about the end of my relationship with U.S. Soccer.
“In the fall of 1991, I met my soulmate. I had just turned 18 and was a freshman in college when I met Rosalind.
“One night, while out drinking at a local bar, Rosalind and I had a heated argument that continued outside. It became physical and I kicked her in the legs.”
Berhalter added: “The lessons learned from that night over three decades ago became the foundation for a loving, devoted, and supportive relationship, which we honored and celebrated with our 25th wedding anniversary this past weekend”
Berhalter’s contract with the US expired on December 31, 2022, following the round of 16 knockout at the hands of Holland.

US Soccer have announced that assistant coach Anthony Hudson will lead the team during a January camp in California.
Despite this, Berhalter says he is “looking forward to continuing my conversations with U.S. Soccer about the future”. More
