World Cup supporters roast terrible breakfast with doughnut for £200-a-night deal and fans are all saying the same thing

WORLD Cup fans have slammed a sad looking breakfast allegedly being served at the fan village in Qatar.Football fans have had to fork out nearly £200-a-night to stay in tents or shipping containers in pop-up accommodation.
Picture widely shared allegedly showing the breakfast from the Qatari fan village
Qatar desperately had to erect the fan camps the cope with the huge influx of visitors for the controversial World Cup.
Fans have already slammed the tent and cabin village as a “rip off” with some describing them as feeling “unfinished”.
Qatar has 1,800 tents and 6,000 cabins near Doha for the World Cup.
Tents can set you back £175-a-night – and punters have been sharing a picture of a box of grub that was said to have been served to fans.

The “breakfast box” shows a sandwich, an apple, a “potato-looking” muffin and a doughnut.
It also comes with a kids’ lunchbox style carton of juice, a tiny water bottle, and a sachet of instant coffee in a paper cup.
The food box also includes a little plastic packet of honey.
Fans were left unimpressed by the alleged breakfast – and it latest piece of scran to cause a stir in Qatar.

The picture was shared multiple times on Facebook, Twitter and Reddit – receiving tens of thousands of likes and hundreds of shares.
“£200 to sleep in a plastic tent in the desert and eat something that looks like airline food?” wrote one fan.
Another added: “Genuinely thought they had been given a potato, then realised it was a muffin.”
Others said “200 quid a night for this?” and “looks like a packed lunch I got on primary school trips”.
Qatar has already faced questions over organisation of the World Cup – with reports weeks before the start that the nation simply was not ready.
Confusion over the sale of beer, infrastructure problems and reports of crowd trouble at the fanzone have already surfaced.
The tiny country is expected to welcome more than one million fans during the tournament – when the country only has a population of 2.9million.
Billions have been spent to try and ready the nation for its first attempt at holding an event of this scale.
“Wait, are you supposed to drink the instant coffee cold?,” another fan wrote of the breakfast.
Others added “that Nescafé budget coffee sachet just tops it off” and “honestly I’ve had better breakfasts in hostels”.
However, many other fans were happy with the breakfast and said it was no worse that what you get in budget hotels.
“That looks decent [to be fair]. Better than a lot of hotel breakfasts I’ve seen,” one said.
Another added: “All the English hooligans kicking off because its not a bacon roll [&] acan of lager.”
Others wrote “looks better than what is served in most UK stadiums” and “it looks nicer compared to some stuff I have had on planes”.
And another fan said: “To be fair it looks OK. But for 200£ you would get something immensely better anywhere else.” More

We live on England’s most patriotic estate… people shockingly say we’re on the dole and RACIST – but we love our country

ENGLAND’S most patriotic estate which has hung out hundreds of football flags has revealed trolls attack them over their World Cup display. Organiser Chris Dowse said online haters accuse them of being on the dole and even racist because of their St George’s Crosses.

But he insisted people realise the Kirby Estate in Bermondsey, South East London, is extremely inclusive when they go to visit.
They have draped their estate in football flags for every major national tournament since 2012, and began doing it for the women’s tournaments in 2019 too.
Most flags are supporting the English team, but they also have other nationalities putting out flags supporting their teams like Spain and Portugal.
Chris told The Sun: “People say we are all unemployed and on the dole and that none of us go to work. But we all go to work.
READ MORE ON THE WORLD CUP
“They also say the council will be round to take the flags down.
“Some people think it’s racist. People assume stuff with the flags, but it’s not like that.
“They’re solely to represent the England football team. We are the most patriotic estate.
“I once went through every comment on social media and replied to them all, saying: “You know nothing about this estate and nothing about the people.
    Most read in The Sun
“If they came down they will find that we are nothing like what they assume. When people come they see it’s lovely and inclusive.”
Last year the estate was covered in more than 400 England flags to cheer on the boys for the Euros.
They then did the same again when the women’s team triumphed this year and celebrated their victory with a mural to Lioness forward Fran Kirby.
Residents usually pay £4 for a small custom flag and £15 for larger ones. But the cost went up for the whole estate this year from £60 in 2018 to £350.

And the flags have had to go up later than normal this year and will go down as soon as the tournament is over – unless England win – because of the winter weather.
Chris previously told MyLondon the World Cup should never have been given to Qatar and should never be played in winter.

Buffon will not be playing at the World Cup after Italy failed to qualify for the tournament.
The Azzurri lost to North Macedonia 1-0 in their qualifying match as they only managed to come second in their group.
This means that the Italians have not been at the last two World Cup tournaments as they also missed out on playing in Russia in 2018.
Buffon however will be watching and has named the team he is backing, surprisingly, as Cameroon.

The veteran goalkeeper told Radio Anch’io Sport: “It has always been my second team, my favorite Serie B team, ever since the 1982 World Cup.
“In 1990 my support was total, with players like N’Kono, Milla and Oman-Biyik who, for me, were heroes.
“The 1990 Cameroon squad I could repeat by heart.”
He also showed support for Iran’s spot in the tournament, after there were calls for them to be kicked out due to the nation’s involvement in the Ukraine conflict
    Most read in Football
He added: “Iran’s presence at the World Cup is right, sport is a meritocracy and they have earned this participation, this opportunity.
“If this then becomes a way to send signals of collective humanity, so be it. Long live Iran’s players.”
Buffon is in the twilight of his career at 44 years old, but there appears to be no end in sight for the former Juventus stopper.
His contract with current signed Parma expires in June 2024. More

In a clip posted to his Twitter page, Lycett threw two large bundles of £5 notes into a woodchipper, leaving a shredded bundle of money on the floor before walking away.
Openly pansexual Lycett gave England legend Beckham, 47, an ultimatum last Sunday, telling the star, who he called a “gay icon”: “Qatar was voted one of the worst places in the world to be gay.
“If you end your relationship with Qatar, I’ll donate this £10,000 of my own money.
“However if you do not, at midday next Sunday I will throw this money into a shredder, just before the opening ceremony of the World Cup.”

Beckham made his first public appearance at the controversial tournament on Saturday ahead of yesterday’s opening ceremony and first match.
On Saturday FIFA chief Gianni Infantino defended Qatar’s human rights record in a bizarre rant, with the Swiss accusing Western nations of “hypocrisy” and “racism”.
Some online slammed the comedian – and said he should have donated the money to charity.
Former Culture Secretary Nadine Dorries said: “Shredding £10k will earn Joe Lycett far more than it will cost him and is in effect a paid-for publicity stunt which has worked.”

One former fan said the stunt had changed his view of the comic, saying on Twitter: “I liked Joe Lycett but he’s just shown what a privileged life he lives that he can afford to shred £10,000.”
But actor Chris Addison defended the comic, labelling Lycett: “A force for good”.
