Hakim Ziyech breaks silence after being accused of ‘unacceptable behaviour’ by Morocco manager in major row

HAKIM ZIYECH has taken aim at his Morocco manager after being accused of ‘unacceptable’ behaviour.Vahid Halilhodzic dropped the Chelsea star from his squad for World Cup qualifiers against Sudan and Guinea.

The reason behind the decision was not immediately clear with Ziyech, 28, back from a recent shoulder injury and the venues not being on the UK’s red list for travel.
But Halilhodzic, 69, then alleged that the player had arrived late for previous international duty, refused to play, and set a bad example for younger players.
Ziyech, who has 35 caps and 16 goals for Morocco, posted his reply on his Instagram stories.
He wrote: “Next time when you speak, SPEAK THE TRUTH THEN…!!! [sic]”
Accompanying the jibe was a clown-face emoji and it was not the first Ziyech has sent in his manager’s direction.
After being left out of the squad, the midfielder posted a laughing-face emoji which many took as a response to his situation.

Halilhodzic had earlier fumed: “Ziyech’s behaviour in the last two matches, especially the last one, was not that of a national team player.
“As a leader of the team, he has to be a positive role model.
“He arrived late, and then even refused to work. There was no point in discussing it afterwards – as a coach the answer is right there to see.
“For me the national team comes above everything. Nobody can hold it hostage.
“For the first time in my career I have seen behaviour that disappoints me.
“A player who refuses to play a game, admittedly a friendly, on the pretext that he is injured.

“The medical staff made several examinations, and said he was fit to play.
“He then refused to warm up in the second-half, because he was disappointed to be a substitute.
“For me that type of behaviour is unacceptable. You can’t cheat with the national team.”

Gareth Southgate tells England stars the best way to get over Euro heartbreak is to WIN the World Cup in Qatar

GARETH SOUTHGATE reckons England must win the World Cup next year to ease their Euro 2020 pain. The Three Lions travel to Hungary for a 2022 qualifier on Thursday, the country’s first game since losing to Italy on penalties at Wembley in the Euro final.

Gareth Southgate is plotting World Cup glory after their woe this summerCredit: Getty
Asked how England can get over that gut-wrenching loss, Southgate said: “We probably need to win a World Cup final.
“Nothing else is really going to compare to the level of the game we were involved in and the unique circumstance that being involved in a final brings.
“We had two years of having to reflect on a World Cup semi-final and whatever we do in the next 18 months has got to be towards challenging in a World Cup.”
England defender Harry Maguire revealed it is still too painful to watch the Euro 2020 final — and plans to avoid it for the rest of his career.
He said: “I haven’t watched any of it. Only a few short videos and things you get tagged in but I have not sat down and watched it.
“I don’t think it is something I would want to do.

“At the moment it is something I want to stay away from. It hurts and will always hurt.
“Maybe when I am retired I will look at my achievements and I might end up watching the final. But at the moment, I am looking forward to the future and where we can go as a team.”
England face Hungary on Thursday in the first of three qualifiers in six days.
Victory in Budapest and wins against Andorra and Poland will see Southgate’s squad virtually seal their World Cup spot.
Maguire added: “Now I am focusing on the next one.
“As a young boy you always dream of being a world champion so, individually, yes, the lads probably are thinking about being world champions.”

Southgate is expecting tough games in Hungary and Poland.
He could name the same side which lost to Italy. Phil Foden and Marcus Rashford are both out injured, while Jadon Sancho took a knock in training and is a doubt.
Southgate said: “They are pivotal games in terms of qualification as well so you can’t predict what your hardest games are going to be — but we know that Hungary are a very good side.”

Cristiano Ronaldo is top international goalscorer EVER as Portugal icon nets 110th and 111th strikes in Ireland stunner

CRISTIANO RONALDO made history by becoming the all-time men’s leading international goalscorer – and then broke Irish hearts in Fergie time.Manchester United’s new signing powered home superb headers in the 89th and 96th minutes to beat Ali Daei’s 109-goal record and move onto 111.

Both goals came in the dying minutes as Ronaldo turned the game on its headCredit: AP

His heroics clinched a stunning 2-1 win for Portugal in this World Cup qualifier.
For 89 minutes, as the Irish mix of kids and journeymen somehow defied logic to hold onto the lead given them by John Egan’s header, Ronaldo’s big night was turning into an evening to forget.
A missed penalty and scuffle with Dara O’Shea that could, with another referee, have led to a red card, was just the start as Ronaldo summed up all of Portugal’s frustrations.
That the main source of them was a teenage rookie keeper, on loan at Portsmouth from Manchester City, would have made him feel even worse.
Portugal hammered at their opponent’s door, which was being well marshalled by young goalkeeper Gavin Bazunu.
He parried Ronaldo’s penalty before efforts from Bernardo Silva and Joao Mario failed to break Ireland’s resolve.
But, in Ronaldo, Portugal – and now United – have a player who can turn a lost cause into a personal triumph, in the blink of an eye. You are NEVER out of a match.
And in the 89th-minute Goncalo Guedes’ cross was headed home by the veteran to break Daei’s record.

And that was not enough for the insatiable striker, who popped up with virtually last action of the game to grab the winner.
Mario provided the ball in and once again Ronaldo guided his brilliant header into the net.
The superstar whipped off his shirt in trademark fashion as Estadio Algarve wildly celebrated Portugal’s favourite son, holding his iconic No7 jersey aloft.
On full-time, he took away both match balls he scored with as an extra trophy.
A yellow card for his celebration means he can head to Manchester after Saturday’s friendly with Qatar rather than flying to Azerbaijan.

He declared after the final whistle: “I’m happy not only because I got the record but for the special moments that we had with two goals at the end.”
“I have to appreciate what the team did. We believed until the end. For the supporters, I’m so happy.”
On the penalty miss, Ronaldo added: “It’s part of the game. Sometimes we score, sometimes you [make a] mistake. It’s part of the business.

“But I still believed until the end of the game so I am so glad to score and win the game.”
Portugal peppered the Irish goal with 29 shots in total, of which Ronaldo fired in eight.
And the comeback means the Selecao are well on their way to the World Cup with ten points from four games, leaving Ireland stuck on zero.

A mistake from Jeff Hendrick conceded the spot-kick to Bruno Fernandes nine minutes into Tuesday’s World Cup qualifier.
And Ronaldo grabbed the ball before an agonising wait for VAR to confirm the foul at Estadio Algarve.
However, Republic of Ireland defender O’Shea decided to play some mind games as Ronnie was waiting.
He cheekily kicked the ball off the penalty spot, but Ronaldo was not impressed.
The ex-Real Madrid and Juventus man batted O’Shea away angrily with one arm, forcing the West Brom ace to grab his head in pain
But Ronaldo, who was not punished by the ref, then had his penalty saved by Manchester City goalkeeper Gavin Bazunu in just his fifth cap for Ireland.

One said: “In the Premier League, that is a red card.”
Another tweeted: “Red all day lmao.”
One questioned: “How is that not a red?”
Another noted: “Any other player gets sent off there.”

Watch Cristiano Ronaldo blow chance at international goal record as Man Utd star’s penalty SAVED by teen Man City keeper

It was from the spot where the Manchester United forward hoped to hit his 110th Portugal strike – a tally never seen at this level.
A mistake from Jeff Hendrick conceded the spot-kick to Bruno Fernandes nine minutes into Wednesday’s World Cup qualifier.
And Ronaldo grabbed the ball before an agonising wait for VAR to confirm the foul at Estadio Algarve.
But the striker was beaten by Manchester City goalkeeper Gavin Bazunu in just his fifth cap for Ireland.
The Portsmouth loanee, 19, dived to his right to strongly parry the shot away.
As time ticked on it looked like Ronaldo would have to wait longer to finally beat the international tally of Iran legend Ali Daei.

Daei notched an incredible 109 goals in 140 appearances for Iran, before retiring from the game in 2006.
It was already been a memorable few weeks for Ronaldo.
At Euro 2020, he became the first man to play at five different Euros, the oldest player to net for Portugal at a major tournament, and the competition’s all-time top scorer.
The superstar then completed a return to Manchester United after over a decade away from Old Trafford.
