      But Argentina’s appeal has been dismissed by Fifa, with Romero wasting a 13-and-a-half hour journey to Buenos Aries.
      Romero is now back in England, where he is expected to train with Spurs on Tuesday ahead of Sunday’s home clash against Newcastle.
      The defender has impressed for Tottentham this season, featuring in 23 games in all competitions since his loan move from Atalanta last summer.
      Boss Antonio Conte declared last month that Spurs have made Romero’s move permanent for around £42.5million.

      A potential breakout star in the Middle East could well be their explosive forward, 22-year-old Jonathan David.
      Born in New York City, he moved to Haiti when he was a baby but then emigrated to Ottawa as a six-year-old.

      It was enough to encourage Ligue 1 giants Lille to pay £25million for his talents, where he has continued to go from strength-to-strength.
      This season he has been at his most prolific – finding the net 17 times in all competitions, despite the club’s struggles in the league.
      Growing up, he idolised Thierry Henry and is believed to be a top transfer target for Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal.
      With Lille expected to sell in the summer, he could already be a Premier League star when he appears at the World Cup.

      Working in tandem with David, who likes to drift to that side, is the lighting-quick Alphonso Davies.
      Born in a refugee camp in Ghana after his family fled the Second Liberian Civil War, he overcame adversity to reach the top.

      An inflammatory heart condition following a bout of coronavirus hasn’t seen the defender play this year, although now back in training he’s hopeful of playing for the Bavarians in the near future.
      In his spare time, he’s taken to his Twitch channel that’s grown to 271,000 followers.
      When he’s not showing off his skills on FIFA 22, he was streaming himself cheering on Canada’s international games.

      MASON MOUNT has refused to give Chelsea team-mate Jorginho “stick” after Italy failed to qualify for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Italy fell to a shock 1-0 defeat to North Macedonia on Thursday, missing out on a play-off final meet with Portugal.

      The drama followed our elimination from the 2006 World Cup in Germany and has never before been revealed.
      Opening up for the first time, Rio said: “We’d just been knocked out of the competition by Portugal in the quarter finals and we had the worst flight back you can imagine. We got caught up in some terrible weather and everybody thought we were going to crash. We were all crying.
      “I was sat near Wayne Rooney and Steven Gerrard and their wives and everyone was screaming. It was turbulence on another level. It was mental and people and luggage were all over the place and no one knew what was going on.
      “I definitely thought, ‘This is it,’ especially when I looked at the air stewardesses. You can always gauge how serious things are by their expressions and I looked at them and they were all sat down in their seats stony faced and clearly thinking, ‘F***, we’re in trouble.’

      The widower and father-of-three said: “When I got called up for England I used to share with Frank Lampard.
      “He didn’t snore or anything and he was mostly good but the only thing that was a bit of a bummer was that at midnight he would go to the toilet and it was quite loud.
      “In fact it was really loud. So loud that it used to wake me up. This long, loud p*ss.”
