Paul Pogba set to MISS World Cup with ex-Man Utd star to undergo knee surgery after crunch talks with Juventus

Along with the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Antoine Griezmann and Raphael Varane, the midfielder inspired his country to World Cup glory for just the second time in their history.
But any hopes of repeating the feat in Qatar at the end of 2022 now appear to have been scuppered.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Pogba has agreed with Juventus to undergo meniscus surgery.
This is expected to rule him out of the tournament which begins on November 20.

Pogba joined Juventus on a free transfer this summer after his Manchester United contract expired.
But he has not yet played a game in his second spell with the Serie A giants and looks to be facing more time on the sidelines following his surgery.
It comes amid further turbulence in his personal life, with the Frenchman embroiled in a family feud with brother Mathias.
Pogba’s sibling claims the former Red Devils star paid for a witch doctor to curse Mbappe.

Pogba has denied the claims, and in turn says he was held at gunpoint by an extortion gang, with Mathias being one of the plotters.
A criminal investigation is now underway in France after the gang allegedly demanded Pogba hand them £11million earlier this year.
After only being able to give £85,000, Pogba continued to be threatened by the gang as he moved from Manchester United to Juventus.
He eventually filed a criminal complaint through his lawyers.
And those accused, including brother Mathias, now face prison sentences of up to 20 years if found guilty. More

USA missed out on the 2018 World Cup four years ago and will be wanting to leave a mark in the Middle East themselves.

    When is Wales vs USA?

Wales’ clash with USA will get underway from 7pm UK time on November 21.
The clash will take place at the Ahmad bin Ali Stadium in Al Rayyan.

    Golden Boot winner
England talisman Harry Kane leads the way in the battle for the coveted Golden Boot at odds of 7/1 with Sky Bet.
Kane, 28, won the award at the 2018 World Cup after netting six, and could fill his boots in the group stages against Iran and the USA.
Superstar Kylian Mbappe is next at 8/1 after scoring 39 goals in 46 appearances for PSG last season.
He also boasts 27 goals in 57 games for France, and could do damage against Tunisia and Australia in Group D.
It’s no surprise to see Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo third in the betting at 12/1.
Ronaldo finished as the top scorer at the European Championship with five goals — that’s despite Portugal’s elimination in the Round of 16.
Real Madrid hotshot Karim Benzema, who keeps getting better, is locked together with Lionel Messi at 14/1.
Romelu Lukaku (16/1), Neymar (18/1) and Raheem Sterling (20/1) follow, while Diogo Jota, Memphis Depay and Vinicius Junior all share odds of 25/1.

England were knocked out of that tournament before Wales were but since then, the Three Lions have enjoyed somewhat of a renaissance.
They reached the semi-finals of the World Cup in 2018 before going a step further to play in the final against Italy in a losing effort at Euro 2020.
This time, they’ll be looking to go a step further by winning their first World Cup since 1966.
Wales reached the semi-finals of Euro 2016, despite that loss to England, but have failed to progress further at the two tournaments since, so the Dragons will looking to cause an upset.

England vs USA: Date, TV channel, live stream, kick-off time for big 2022 World Cup clash in Qatar

ENGLAND meet familiar World Cup enemies USA in the group stages of the 2022 Qatar showpiece. The Three Lions infamously drew 1-1 with the Americans 12 years ago at the South Africa World Cup in Bloemfontein.

And the two sides are set to do it all over again in the Middle East this winter.
USA failed to qualify for the last World Cup, while England reached the semi-finals, where they were knocked out by Croatia in extra-time.
Gregg Berhalter’s side will be desperate to make an impact similar to the one they made in both 2010 and 2014, where they reached the knockout stages.
But England are hoping to win it all, so Southgate’s men will need to be laser-focused against a hungry USA side.

    When is England vs USA?

England’s big clash with USA will get underway from 7pm UK time on Friday, November 25.
The game will be played at the Al Bayt Stadium in Al Khor, Qatar.
The stadium can hold up to 60,000 fans and was opened last year, specifically for the World Cup.

    What happened last time?
England last played the USA at a major tournament at the World Cup in South Africa 10 years ago.
The Three Lions’ opening game of the tournament was against Bob Bradley’s side, who put in a very commendable performance in Bloemfontein.
The game got off to a good start for England, however, as after four minutes, Steven Gerrard put England in command with a slotted finish.
But just before half-time, Clint Dempsey equalised with a long-range effort that was spilled by goalkeeper Rob Green.
The gaff has gone down as one of the worst moments in England’s history at the World Cup.
USA topped the group and Fabio Capello’s side were eventually knocked out by Germany in the last-16.
Bradley’s men also lost in the last-16 to Ghana. More

But four years on from then, and with a Euro 2020 final appearance in the bag too, Gareth Southgate’s men are looking to finally overcome the very last hurdle.
It’s been 56 years since England won their first and only World Cup, and expectations of the team continue to grow every four years.
Iran will be their first test, before further group stage clashes with rivals Wales and 2010 World Cup does USA.
This tournament could be make or break for Southgate, who may view the Qatar showpiece as his last opportunity to finally win major silverware as England boss.

    When is England vs Iran?

England’s 2022 World Cup opener with Iran will get underway from 1pm UK time on Monday, November 21.
The game will be held at the Khalifa International Stadium in Qatar’s capital Doha.
The stadium was opened in 1976 and can hold up to 45,000 fans.

England vs Iran will be shown live on BBC One in the UK.

Robert Page set to sign four-year Wales deal to officially take over from Ryan Giggs after leading Dragons to World Cup

Talks have been ongoing since then but SunSport can reveal Page is close to agreeing the long-term contract with the Football Association of Wales with an official announcement due soon.
And the fresh terms will include qualification campaigns for both Euro 2024 and the World Cup in 2026.
Page has been in charge of Wales since Ryan Giggs was arrested in November 2020 before the ex-Manchester United winger eventually stood down in June ahead of his domestic violence trial.
The 41-cap former defender, who was Giggs’ assistant before taking on the manager’s job on an interim basis, will lead the Dragons against USA on November 21 in Qatar before also facing Iran and arch rivals England in Group B.

Page has been in charge for 24 matches, winning ten, drawing eight and losing just six games and, after the victory over Ukraine, had his current deal extended by the FAW until the end of the World Cup.
But the new contract will allow the 47-year-old to plan for the future and end any uncertainty over his position.
SunSport reported Wales stars Gareth Bale and Aaron Ramsey had been alarmed at the lack of progress on Page’s contract.
Captain Bale, who plans to play at Euro 2024 and possibly even the World Cup in USA, Canada and Mexico should Wales qualify, had already publicly pledged his support that Page should become the nation’s long-term manager beyond this winter’s finals.
