But he is due to assist Roberto Martinez and the Belgians in Qatar.
Championship Terriers could not afford to lose him to international duty or wait until after the finals.
Despite looking at former Manchester United skipper Michael Carrick, they are set to welcome back David Wagner for a second spell.
Former Huddersfield gaffer Danny Schofield lasted just 69 days in charge after being promoted from the ranks.

Wagner was in charge of the Yorkshire outfit between November 2015 – January 2019.
During his first spell in charge at the John Smith’s Stadium, he took Huddersfield to the Premier League after beating Reading on penalties in the 2017 Play-Off final.
And he managed to guide Huddersfield to safety in the club’s opening season in the top-flight after finishing 16th.
But after a horror start to the 2018-19 campaign, Wagner and Huddersfield agreed to terminate his contract by mutual consent.

Huddersfield were rooted to the bottom of the table at the time of his leaving, with the club subsequently relegated after winning just three out of their 38 matches.
Following his departure, he was named as Schalke’s boss in July 2019, with the German club finishing 12th in the Bundesliga.
But after a run of 18 league games without a victory stretching back to the end of the 2019-20 term, he was sacked in September 2020.
A move to Swiss side Young Boys followed in July 2021, but he was axed in March as they trailed eventual champions FC Zurich by 15 points.
And Wagner knows he faces a huge job to keep Huddersfield in the Championship with the Terriers sitting in 23rd spot having won just two out of their opening ten matches. More

The night ended in Nations League relegation for the England as Giacomo Raspadori’s 68th-minute strike earned the Azzurri a 1-0 win.
That result piled even more pressure on boss Southgate – but at least fans watching at home had something to smile about courtesy of Del Piero.
Following the match, the former forward was analysing the performance of the away side in Milan when he named Wright-Phillips – whose last cap for England was in 2010 – as one of their best players.
Del Piero said: “All the time that the England side pressed high very well, they had a couple of close attacks, especially when Wright-Phillips moved the ball.”

Viewers quickly picked up on his on-air gaffe and quickly took to social media.
One tweeted: “I don’t know what game Del Piero has been watching, but I’m confident he just referred to one of our players as Wright-Phillips!”
Another said: “Del Piero thinks Wright-Phillips is playing what a guy.”

Another asked: “Did Del Piero just say something about Wright-Phillips??”
To which another replied: “Yes he did, I had to rewind it! Obviously watching a game from 2006.”
Former Manchester City and Chelsea winger Wright-Phillips earned the last of his 36 caps for England at the 2010 World Cup.
He enjoyed a fine career at club level, winning the Premier League and two FA Cups.
Following a second spell at City, he joined QPR in 2011 before heading to the MLS with New York Red Bulls in 2015.
The now 40-year-old then had a brief spell with Phoenix Rising before announcing his retirement in 2017. More

Despite being a natural centre-back, White has shown his versatility by fitting in at right-back due to the emerging partnership between William Saliba and Gabriel.
But his dazzling form wasn’t enough to convince Three Lions gaffer Southgate to include White in his last squad before the World Cup which kicks off in November.
And his absence in the team was felt on Friday night as England lost 1-0 to Italy in their Nations League clash at the San Siro.
The result means that England have been relegated from Nations League A regardless of whether they beat Germany on Monday.

Speaking to SunSport on behalf of FreeSuperTips prior to the Italy match, Arsenal legend Winterburn was asked if he was surprised by White being left out.
To which he said of the 24-year-old four-cap international: “I am surprised, but I never try to predict what England managers do with players.
“But I am surprised, he was initially in the last squad so if he was in the last England squad, I don’t understand why he wouldn’t be in this squad.
“Unless Gareth Southgate has left him out because he wants to look at other players.

“Ben White hasn’t made that many appearances for England, so I would think he deserves a look in, so it’s a surprising decision to me.
“Especially when you see some of the players in that squad and the club form they’re currently producing.
“But we’ve seen this with Gareth Southgate, and I’ve spoken about it on different occasions when we talk about Jordan Pickford.
“People were criticising [Jordan] Pickford and saying he should be left out, but I’ve always said you’ve got to look at it from Gareth Southgate’s point of view.
“When he’s come in and played for England, he’s never done anything wrong so how do you leave him out?”
He added: “So, there is going to be a lot of debate over the next 10 days, especially if England don’t pick up their form in the next two games.

Fans all say the same thing as Canada star Jonathan David covers Nike logo to celebrate goal in World Cup warm-up win

JONATHAN DAVID covered the Nike logo on his shirt after he scored for Canada, and it has left fans all saying the same thing.Lille striker David scored his nations second goal in their World Cup warm-up game against Qatar and followed it up by covering the Nike logo on his shirt after scoring.

David then proceeded to cover the kit in a likely dig at Nike for not giving Canada a new World Cup kitCredit: One Soccer
This cover up comes after Nike refused to provide Canada with a new kit for the World Cup.
The upcoming tournament in Qatar will be just their second ever World Cup finals, with their last appearance coming in 1986.
Canada are set to be the only nation not to enter the tournament with a brand new kit, with their qualifying strip the one they will use when they fly over to Qatar.
The bizarre situation caused an outcry against Nike, with many critical at the decision not produce a new kit.

One user called for protest, and said: “what’s up with this nonsense? Like we haven’t waited long enough? Vs Iran, Panama walk off, uniform silent protest during the biggest friendly prep…..ever!”
A second user said: “Well done. We stand on principle,” while a third added: “Savage but justified. Come on @nikefootball @Nike. WTH!!!”
Others were left disappointed but confused with the call, with one user asking: “Uhmmm… Why? New world cup kits are always a big deal. This would be majorly disappointing.”
Another user remarked: “What!? This seems…counter to what usually occurs, no?”

Another fan hypothesised a reason behind the lack of a new kit: “It feels like they didn’t start the process which takes about a year to create a new jersey and put to market.
“My guess soccer Canada had no faith in our boys and didn’t bother.”
Such an idea would be a bitter pill to swallow for The Reds, and considering kit creation processes usually take an estimated 18 months it would be fair to assume they ran out of time given Canada only officially qualified in March of this year.
Nike and Canada signed their last kit sponsor deal in 2018, when the team were ranked 78th in Fifa standings.
However, they now rank number 33 in the world.

In a related statement, Nike previously said: “Canada Soccer is on a different kit development cycle.”
England’s own new kits from Nike were met with less than stellar reviews. More
