Dame Kelly, who won two running golds at the 2004 Athens Games, added: “As much as I’m in denial, it has had an effect on my body.”
She said her symptoms include “body aches, constant pain throughout the body, feeling lethargic”.
Dame Kelly said it is tough “as someone who is in tune with their body”, adding: “I think I’m in denial of age completely.”
Perimenopause is the transitional period before menopause as women’s hormone levels change, but before periods have stopped.

It usually starts between 45 and 55, the NHS says.
Dame Kelly exercises to cope but says sometimes she is “too knackered”.
Mental health is less often discussed when it comes to perimenopause and menopause.
But Dame Kelly, who has been open about her own past mental health struggles, said: “The one thing with the hormonal changes – and men get it as well at certain ages – hormonal changes in the body can really affect your mental health.

“And I think women have to understand how so connected and interconnected your mental and physical health are, because if one is not in tune, the other one will be affected, whatever way around that is.
“When you feel your body’s a mess, that’s going to affect your head.
“But if you go into the gym or you go and do some exercises, at least you are doing it knowing that you’re benefiting yourself by doing it – even if those changes are still happening.” More

Kyle Walker cops slammed for ignoring England defender’s ‘violence against women’ after no action over flashing shame

COPS investigating Kyle Walker’s flashing have been slammed for ignoring his “violence against women” after no action was taken.Married Three Lions star Walker, 32, was questioned by cops on the eve of his side’s FA Cup quarter-final against Burnley.

Cops had seized CCTV footage of Walker’s drunken antics
The Manchester City defender voluntarily attended a police station for an interview for indecent exposure.
He was quizzed for indecent exposure but later dealt with for being drunk and disorderly following a review of all the available evidence.
But cops have now said that the “matter is now closed”.
The England ace was issued with an out of court disposal order reserved for “low level offending”.

Last night, Women’s Aid blasted cops for not pursuing Walker for indecent exposure.
Farah Nazeer, the charity’s chief executive, said: “It’s disappointing to see indecent exposure, a form of violence against women, being ignored and dismissed.
“Indecent exposure can and does lead to much more serious offences, as we’ve seen in the Wayne Couzens trial.
“Whether done to shock or to intimidate, for those affected there can be long-term effects and trauma, stopping women from feeling safe and from living with freedom.

“When there are no repercussions to indecent exposure, it can give the perpetrator a sense of power, reinforcing to them what they can get away with and, possibly, the confidence to see what more they can get away with next time.
“Any indecent exposure must be treated as the serious crime it is and the consequences must demonstrate that it is intolerable.
“Today’s culture of accepting violence against women and girls must end, women’s lives depend on it.”
Despite the probe, Walker was included in England’s squad for the Euro 2024 qualifiers against Italy and Ukraine.
He was named in the team just hours after being quizzed by cops yesterday.
Gareth Southgate revealed the decision came after speaking “at length” with the defender.
Walker, dropped to the subs bench after the scandal, was filmed in a bar drunkenly pulling out his manhood.
Cops announced they were investigating and seized the two-hour footage, filmed from several angles.
In a statement Cheshire Police said: “On Wednesday 8 March, Cheshire Constabulary was made aware of a video circulating on social media in relation to an alleged incident at a bar in the Wilmslow area.
“Officers have now concluded their enquiries which included speaking to those directly involved.
“A 32-year-old man from Prestbury voluntarily attended a police station for questioning on 16 March.
“He has been dealt with by an out of court disposal and the matter is now closed.”
Walker, dropped to the subs bench after The Sun broke the story, was filmed in a bar drunkenly pulling out his manhood in 90-minutes of shame.
The £150,000-a-week player used the down-time to go on a massive booze bender.
Walker’s group arrived in a blacked-out minibus from the same firm used by City at 5.23pm.
Footage showed him already unsteady on his feet and wearing a puffer jacket and cap.
He staggered to the entrance with one of the women.
Moments later, he approached her from behind and pawed at her breasts before pulling his trousers down and holding his manhood.
A young woman standing next to him then shrieks and points at it as Walker laughs with a pal.
Walker then downed bottles of beer, necked shots and danced provocatively with both women.
He also groped the blonde – not his model wife, Annie, 30 – snogged her and dirty-danced with another as he and pals necked vodka.

The group set off to leave in the minibus shortly before 7pm but Walker was pulled back to pay the £250 bar bill.
Walker was so drunk he was filmed fumbling for his wallet before a pal returned from the minibus and rifled through his pockets for a payment method.

The win for Wiegman, shortlisted alongside Brazil boss Pia Sundhage and Lyon chief Sonia Bompastor, saw her lift the award for the third time.
Her win comes seven months after the Netherlands-born coach led the Lionesses to Euros triumph on home soil last summer.
It was the first major tournament ever won by an England Women’s national football side with her team hoping for more glory at this summer’s World Cup.
After her award win Wiegman, 53, said: “From when I could walk I have loved football.

“It’s just incredible to be right here and to celebrate women’s football.
“Little girls have their idols and inspirations. So many people across the world have worked so hard to get the game where it is right now.

“Behind me is a big team. Without great players you are nowhere.
“Last but not least, my family have seen me more on TV than at home. Thank you for supporting me.”
Under their boss the Lionesses are currently 29 games unbeaten with their most recent win seeing them retain the Arnold Clark Cup on February 22.
During the Euros the team kept four clean sheets in six games conceding just twice.
And Manchester United shot stopper Earps played in every single match.
Her efforts saw her win the Fifa best women’s goalkeeper gong for 2022 ahead of Chelsea’s Ann-Katrin Berger and Lyon’s Christiane Endler.
It comes just over a month on from Earps becoming the first goalkeeper to record 50 clean sheets in the WSL.
And the England star thanked Wiegman for helping her to pursue her “wildest dreams”.
At the ceremony, Earps, 29, said: “I feel really honoured to be holding this really heavy trophy.
“I want to say thank you to my loved ones who have picked me up off the kitchen floor to be here today, not today but in the past.
“Sarina I’ve run out of words to say thanks to you for the opportunity to chase my wildest dreams and believing in me the way you have.

Northampton Town aim to show life CAN begin at 40 with health checks for the public.. leaving our man facing harsh facts

SO it’s official. I’m getting older, overweight and need to start changing my lifestyle and eating habits.Yup, it’s time to finally accept I’m a forty-something who has to stop living like I’m in my twenties.
SunSport’s Justin Allen has an “over-40s” health check with Northampton Town boss Jon Brady at the club’s training ground
Ex-player Brady tells Justin how he has had to kick his beloved croissants from his breakfast routine to stay healthy
Northampton Town gently broke the news after they invited me to undergo a health-check designed for people aged 40 and above, alongside their manager Jon Brady. So what happened to that well-worn belief that life begins at 40?
The Cobblers have been going into their community visiting local businesses to give employees in that age category hassle-free tests.
Akshay Mistry, the club’s community sports participation officer, is the man entrusted to deliver those checks.
The roughly 20-30 minute procedure includes measuring body mass index (BMI) by taking height, weight and waist measurements — and then checking blood pressure and heart rate, cholesterol levels and, if necessary, a diabetes test.
    READ MORE FOOTBALL NEWS
Usually such check-ups are performed at a local GP surgery but getting a doctor’s appointment nowadays seems impossible.
Akshay has performed more than 300 tests since the club started conducting them — and the Cobblers have almost certainly saved two people’s lives after discovering their health statistics were at dangerous levels.
He told me: “We want to get people between the ages of 40 and 74 checked. It’s an easy procedure but GP surgeries have their hands full so this takes the pressure off the NHS while making these tests more accessible.
HOW TO GET FREE BETS ON FOOTBALL
“Anything that can get flagged now will work better later as this can prevent future problems.
    Most read in EFL
“If you have high blood pressure and are overweight to the point it’s dangerous that could be the end of you.
“But if you can discover this now, you can do something about it — either by changing or moderating your lifestyle and diet or, if at dangerous levels, being referred to a doctor to put you on medication as well as making a plan.
“I’ve come across two who I referred to a GP — and it’s a good job because had they not had the check they almost certainly could’ve one day suddenly dropped dead.”
The checks are done in coordination with Public Health England and the results uploaded to the NHS database to give your GP access.
And even people who appear to live a healthy lifestyle can find that sometimes all is not as well as they think.
Take Cobblers boss Brady, who is 48, for instance. He has lived his life in football — playing either in the EFL or at the top of non-league and working as a coach.
He likes running, regularly walks his dog and is surrounded by healthy food and drink at the club’s training ground.
Jon Brady gets his height measurement taken by Akshay Mistry
Northampton boss Brady has his blood taken to test his cholesterol
Ex-Cambridge United wideman Brady is ready for his blood pressure test
But, not so long ago, he did a check through the League Managers Association and was stunned to find there was a health issue that needed addressing.
He told me: “The test flagged up my cholesterol levels needed to drop.
“They were concerned and did a lot of testing. I even had to wear the blood pressure measuring device for 48 hours.
“And it came out that I need to look after my cholesterol. I’ve certain enzymes that aren’t working properly.
“I always thought I was fit and healthy but that wasn’t the case. I now watch what I eat. I love a croissant in the morning and my wife goes mad at me — so I don’t have them anymore.
“It’s non-dairy tasteless yoghurts with blueberries for me!”
So on to my own check. My height is just shy of 6ft, waist is 39 inches and weight is 98.4kg. This means I have a BMI of 30 and, for the first time in my life, am officially obese! Although I think Akshay needs to double check his dodgy tape measure and scales!
Like Brady, I enjoyed running — often going for 5k or 10k runs — but since the pandemic have lost that enthusiasm.
Our man Justin gets his finger pricked in a cholesterol test
    Akshay takes Justin’s waist measurement
I drink beer and wine, love food, enjoy socialising and have a job which takes me away from my home regularly, making it difficult to get into a healthy routine.
Then came the blood pressure and heart rate test. Two readings were taken .. the systolic pressure (when your heart pushes blood out) and diastolic pressure (when your heart rests between beats).
Mine came in at 139 (sp) and 93 (dp) … healthy levels are below 140 and 90. So my systolic pressure is creeping towards an unhealthy high while the diastolic pressure is now over the healthy threshold.
However, the good news is I’m not at the worrying 160/100 level that would require me to be referred to a GP.
My heart-rate came in at 99 beats per minute. However, that was probably because it was pounding in fear that Akshay was about to tell me I’d no longer be able to scoff delicious pizzas, Chinese takeaways or kebabs.
My Apple Watch says my average resting heart rate for the last week has been 78 — which is within the average level of 60-100.
And finally my cholesterol levels were recorded after having some blood pricked from one of my fingers.
SunSport’s Justin Allen undergoes a Health Check at the Northampton Town FC training groundCredit: Alan Walter
Brady works in the stressful environment of football management
While The Sun’s Justin Allen has a busy schedule as a football writer
My overall total came in at 3.74, which is a healthy level. Anything between five to six would mean you seriously need to eat healthier — but anything above that would require an urgent doctor’s appointment.
My “good cholesterol level” only came in at 0.71 though. A healthy person would expect to have that at least 1.0.
So I asked Akshay for some health tips.
He said: “Your BMI isn’t exactly where you want it. For your height, you should lose about 10kg. That will automatically bring your waist down too.
“Your blood pressure isn’t too bad but you do need to bring it down slightly. Losing weight should help that.
“You also need to add more healthy cholesterol to your blood. So good food is the answer — oily fish such as tuna, salmon and mackerel will help. Also things such as raw nuts, avocados, blueberries and non-dairy yoghurt and supplements of fish oils or multi-vitamins are all great.
“And you need to get your resting heart rate down a bit. You don’t need to lift weights but I’d recommend doing more aerobic exercise. That should do the trick.”
I’m going to get on it but, sorry, not ready to give up a steak and ale pie and a pint at the football. That is a non-negotiable. Gotta run — must meet my mates down the pub .. er, sorry, I mean health club!

‘Iranian Messi’ Sardar Azmoun faces World Cup squad axe after supporting protests against repression of women

IRAN star Sardar Azmoun has insisted he is prepared to be axed from their World Cup squad after standing up for the repression of women in his home country. The 27-year-old Bayer Leverkusen forward went against instructions from the Iranian FA which forbode members of the squad from speaking out over the death of Mahsa Amini – who died in police custody.

Protests have taken place across the country, with two men ejected from a friendly against Uruguay last month after they held up an image of Amini.
Then last Tuesday, protestors made their voices known with a megaphone outside the stadium during a behind-closed-doors match against Senegal.
One arrest was made after a car was struck – with the perpetrator injuring themselves in the process.
And Azmoun felt he could not ignore the situation, even if it cost him his place at the World Cup.

Speaking on Instagram he said: “Because of the national team rules we couldn’t say anything until the [World Cup training] camp was over. But I couldn’t bear it anymore.
“At worst I’ll be dismissed from the national team. No problem. I’d sacrifice that for one hair on the heads of Iranian women.”
He continued: “This story will not be deleted. They can do whatever they want.
“Shame on you for killing so easily; long live Iranian women.”

Varzesh Media, an Iranian-based sports news agency, praised Azmoun for his stance.
They said: “These past few days, like all of Iran, we were too heartbroken to write about sports.
“Football? What’s all the fuss about when these people pay such a high price for their most basic rights?
“Sardar Azmoun breaking rank was one of the bright lights of these nights.
“He reminds us that there are those still worthy of wearing the title ‘national’. We will never forget your goal, Mr. Azmoun.”
Two of Azmoun’s Iran team-mates, Alireza Biranvand and Majid Hosseini, also posted pictures and messages in support of the protests.
Iran will kick off their World Cup campaign against England on November 21.
