      Fulham finally complete £15m transfer signing of West Ham defender Issa Diop after negotiating for more than a month

      ISSA DIOP has completed his £15m move from West Ham to Fulham. The Hammers centre back asked boss David Moyes not to be involved in their Premier League opening day 2-0 loss to Manchester City last weekend.

      And the Frenchman has now confirmed his switch to the Cottagers.
      That ends his four-year spell in east London making 121 appearances for the club.
      Fulham were locked in negotiations for Diop for over a month.
      Now they have strengthened in an area that also sees them loan Brighton’s Shane Duffy.

      Moyes was initially unwilling to let Diop go after the injury to West Ham’s £30m signing from Rennes Nayef Aguerd in pre-season.
      However, their hands were forced in this case.
      West Ham currently only have one fit central defender at the club in Kurt Zouma with Aguerd not expected to return for several weeks and Craig Dawson missing the City clash.
      Angelo Ogbonna missed most of last season with a knee injury.

      He is now back in training but not ready for first team action just yet.
      Full-back Ben Johnson, 21, will continue to deputise in that position.

      And now Sosa is on the verge of a £17million move to East London, according to Croatian outlet Index.
      But David Moyes’ side are set to face late competition for a player who has been dubbed the “assist machine”.
      Newcastle are also claimed to be interested in his signature.
      West Ham though are currently in pole position to capture the six-cap Croatia international.

      Sosa’s agents are alleged to have been in the capital for the past two days to try and strike an agreement with the Hammers.
      But Toon have now joined the race, with suggestions they would be willing to pay the reported £17m offered by West Ham.
      That’s despite Eddie Howe already adding to his left-back ranks this summer with the permanent arrival of Matt Targett.
      David Moyes has strengthened on the left with the £17.5m signing of Maxwel Cornet – but Sosa is more of an out-and-out left-back.

      Twitter account Football Away Days warned: “If you’re off to West Ham this season, you’ll need to remortgage your house for a few pints.”
      Pints of Amstel, Birra Moretti and Heineken were all priced at £7.60, while even a half was £3.70 for the former and £3.85 for the latter two.
      Even a bottle of Coca-Cola was priced at an astonishing £4.50, with a packet of crisps setting fans back £2.50.

      Football Away Days’ post gained plenty of traction among irate fans, with one responding: “That tastes like bankruptcy.”
      A second blasted: “Absolutely dreadful club.”
      While a third fumed: “Ripping off their own fans during a cost of living crisis. Stay classy West Ham.”
      Another added: “£4.50 for a bottle of coke!!! S*** the bed! That’s absolutely scandalous! They’re probably buying them in at less than a £1 a bottle.”

      Man City were responding to early pressure from the Hammers who started the game well.
      They had been putting high balls into the Man City box in the early stages as they looked to unsettle the Premier League champions’ defence.
      One corner whipped in caused Pep Guardiola’s team particular problems – but it was all of their own making.
      New signing Erling Haaland and Ruben Dias both went up to try and clear the ball.

      Lingard joined Forest as a free agent from Manchester United this summer on a one-year deal and is earning £115,000-a-week plus lucrative bonuses.
      Moyes put a deal on the table to bring the midfielder, 29, back to the London Stadium after a successful loan spell in the second half of the 20/21 campaign.
      The Irons believed the prospect of European football and challenging at the top end of the table would be enough.
      But ultimately, the east Londoners were not prepared to cave in to the player’s wage demands.

      Ahead of West Ham’s opener against champions Manchester City tomorrow, asked if he was surprised by Lingard’s decision, Moyes said: “I was, yeah.
      “I thought Jesse in the end would come here and I’ve got to say the club made him a really good offer.
      “You couldn’t turn around and say David Sullivan and the owners didn’t do everything they could to get him. They certainly did, but he chose Forest.
      “He was entitled to do that.

      “I’ve got to say the club have tried to get lots of players but for different reasons we’ve not been able to get them.”
      West Ham are closing in on signing Burnley’s Maxwel Cornet in a £17.5m move, taking their total summer spend to around £100m alongside striker Gianluca Scamacca, midfielder Flynn Downes, defender Nayef Aguerd and keeper Alphonse Areola.
      But they have also missed out on the likes of Frankfurt’s Filip Kostic and Lille’s Amadou Onana due to a break down in negotiations regarding financial packages.
      On how shocked he has been at what players and clubs are demanding in today’s market, Moyes continued: “If only you knew. It’s been incredible.
      “We’ve made numerous, numerous bids. Genuine bids and genuine money and different reasons we’ve not got them.
      “They’ve not wanted to come to the club or we’ve not got the financial deal right or we’ve not been able to pay the player and the agent.
      “One way or another we’ve found it difficult to be competitive this summer.
      We might have to take that risk. We didn’t sign anyone in January and we were two players short then.
      “We don’t have a top six squad today. I’m working towards getting one before the end of the window.”
      But Moyes has not closed the door completely on Lingard, adding: “You never know.
      “If he scores 25 goals next year and does well, maybe I will. If he doesn’t, maybe I won’t.”
      First, Moyes’ men must try to deny reigning champions City a winning start to the new season, and that means stopping new striker Erling Haaland.

      However the player has reportedly decided that he prefers a move to Goodison Park rather than the Hammers.
      The East London outfit were unable to agree personal terms with the 20-year-old but Everton are closer to getting him signed and just small details remain, according to reports.
      Onana played 41 times for Lille last season scoring three goals, predominately being used as a defensive midfielder.

      He only arrived at the then Ligue 1 champions last summer moving from German side Hamburg.
      The talented youngster is highly rated having previously been attracting attention from the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and Newcastle.

      Onana will not be available for Everton’s opening match of the Premier League campaign as they welcome Chelsea.
