However, representatives indicated that – once the two clubs had agreed a fee – they would accept West Ham’s contract terms.
The east Londoners are now negotiating with Chelsea over a fee, with an initial £13million set to be paid before add-ons.
Those add-ons remain a sticking point and are still being negotiated but a deal could be struck over the weekend.
West Ham boss David Moyes has been keen to add a left-back all summer to provide competition for Aaron Cresswell, who may also be needed in a back three.

They are also short in that position following Arthur Masuaku’s move to Besiktas.
Emerson, who spent last season on loan with Lyon, would become West Ham’s seventh signing of the summer as Moyes overhauls his squad.

New £30.5million striker Gianluca Scamacca scored the opener on his full debut against Viborg on Thursday night, assisted by fellow summer arrival Maxwel Cornet.
Moyes has also added defenders Nayef Aguerd and Thilo Kehrer as well as midfielder Flynn Downes while Alphonse Areola made his loan move permanent.

The Hammers were close to agreeing a fee with London rivals Chelsea following an opening bid of £13million.
However, wage demands and difficulties with the full-back’s representatives have caused West Ham to put an end to talks for now.
There remains a slim chance that the East Londoners could go back in for the Italy international, who spent last season on loan with French side Lyon, but the club are now considering other options.
Moyes is keen to add an upgrade on Aaron Cresswell at left-back having already made six signings so far this month.

However, the current plan is for Cornet to play further forward and Kehrer to play centrally at the back following injury to fellow summer arrival, Nayef Aguerd.

Kehrer, 25, signed a four-year deal with the club holding an option for a two-year extension.

The centre-back, who joined the Hammers in a £30million transfer from Rennes, had to undergo surgery for the issue and will now be sidelined until the end of October.

Napoli will have to move fast if they’re to beat West Ham to a deal – which will not be easy.
Navas could be seen as a replacement for Fabianski, who is out of contract next summer.
They already have Alphonse Areola – also signed from PSG – and Darren Randolph as options at the London Stadium.
Navas has previously been linked with a move to Premier League outfit Newcastle.

The interest came before the Magpies bought Nick Pope from Burnley.
Paying Navas a lucrative wage wouldn’t have been a problem considering Newcastle’s newly mega-rich status.
However, it is unclear how much Navas would cost considering he is under contract at PSG until the summer of 2024. More
