Maatsen is currently out in the United States with the Blues hoping to impress new manager Mauricio Pochettino.
But he faces immense competition up against Ben Chilwell, Marc Cucurella and Lewis Hall.

Maatsen is valued at around £20m, with West Ham looking to spend the £105m received from Arsenal for Rice wisely in the coming weeks.

West Ham’s interest comes as Wolves chase a £5m deal to sign Aaron Cresswell.
Cresswell, 33, recently signed a one-year extension to his contract until 2024 – but the Hammers are open to offers for the left-back as they look to revamp their squad.
Wolves have offered to pay £2.5m but will need to front up more to get their man, having also signed former East London centre back Craig Dawson in January.
Emerson Palmieri is currently West Ham’s first choice left back, having started both their pre-season games out in Australia, as well as last month’s Europa Conference League final victory.

West Ham’s links with Maatsen comes with the club yet to make a move in this window.

Payet was a fan favourite at West Ham and his performances at the club from 2015 until 2017 saw him become a regular in the French national team.
But he left the London Stadium under a cloud after a protracted transfer saga.
Reflecting on his decision to leave the Hammers, Payet said he looks back on his time in claret and blue fondly and asked fans to forgive his decision to leave.

“Since I left West Ham I have stayed at Marseille, I haven’t gone to any other club and don’t intend on going to any other club so it wasn’t leaving for the sake of leaving.
“It was a personal decision, a family decision and yeah, it was a pretty brutal break I suppose when I left, that’s true, but I hope over the course of the years West Ham fans have come to understand why I left.

Danny Ings opened the scoring after just 18 minutes when he picked up a cross from Jarrod Bowen and beat Sergio Reguilon far too easily in the air to defeat new goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario.
David Moyes’ Europa Conference League winners doubled their lead in the 23rd minute with 18-year-old ace Divin Mubama’s header after Pedro Porro failed to head Emerson Palmieri’s cross away.
Tottenham fans absolutely loathed what they saw in the first half and some of them even went as far as to claim the “season’s over” already.
One fan tweeted: “New season. Same Tottenham.”

The Australian tactician also handed starts to summer signings James Maddison, who had a bizarre shirt number, and Manor Solomon along with Vicario.
West Ham boss Moyes, on the other hand, opted for 19-year-old Freddie Potts to fill in for former captain Declan Rice in midfield after his £105million move to Arsenal.

Nevin, 54, is the second member of West Ham boss Moyes’ coaching set-up to depart this summer following first team coach Mark Warburton’s mutually agreed exit.
Nevin is also the third coach to leave the club in the past 14 months following Stuart Pearce’s decision to step down last May.
While Warburton’s leave was expected, the loss of Nevin will come as a big shock – a man Moyes has leaned on massively for support over the past few years.
Moyes said: “Paul has played an important role for us during his time here and I would like to thank him for all his support and hard work.

“He is highly ambitious as a coach and is keen to test himself in a new environment and we wish him well in doing so.”
Nevin – who remains part of Gareth Southgate’s England coaching pack – asked for permission to end his three-year spell in East London after being approached by Strasbourg.
Nevin added: “I’ll always look back on my time and the opportunity I had to work at West Ham with great fondness.

Alongside recruitment plans following Declan Rice’s £105m move to Arsenal, Moyes, 60, must now fill two spots of his coaching team.
It is unlikely those vacancies will be filled before they fly out for their pre-season trip to Australia on July 11.
As it stands, Moyes’ staff comprises of Kevin Nolan, Billy McKinlay and goalkeeper coach Xavi Valero.
Moyes is also preparing to work alongside the club’s newly appointed technical director Tim Steidten. The German will head up recruitment alongside sporting director Mark Noble. More

Osorio has already turned down a move to Brazil because he wants to come to Europe.
The Hammers are expected to table an offer around £7.5million this week while AC Milan are also keen on  buying him  and loaning him out.
Universidad will sell at the right price and West Ham could grab  him in before other Prem clubs act, with Wolves also tracking the star.
The Hammers are also waiting to find out what Everton midfielder Amadou Onana plans to do.

Irons boss David Moyes is keen on the Belgium ace, 21,  but the player would prefer a Champions League club if he moves.
Meanwhile, West Ham hope to agree payment terms with Arsenal for the £105m transfer of Declan Rice by Monday, SunSport can reveal.
The Gunners have agreed a deal in principle to sign England star Rice, 24, for a record fee between two British clubs – £100m plus £5m add-ons.
Despite also agreeing on personal terms, negotiations have continued regarding the payment structure of the upfront £100m sum.

Hammers chiefs want it all by the start of 2025 – whereas Arsenal would prefer financially to stagger a section of it across a longer period.
SunSport now understands that sources close to the deal expect those negotiations to conclude by the start of next week.
These minor payment issues have never been seen as derailing, but West Ham have been digging their heels in to get the deal they want.

But now Mikel Arteta’s men have finally got a deal in principle over the line for the England international, 24.
Two previous bids from Arsenal had been rejected by the Hammers.
And the East London outfit were initially unsatisfied with Arsenal’s third offer of £105m – submitted on Tuesday and made up of £100m upfront and a further £5m in add-ons.
But after City walked away, the Hammers have accepted the deal with Arsenal.

However, the Gunners want to make the payments over the next five years – but West Ham want the money all paid by 2025.
SunSport understands a compromise over the payment structure is “very close”.
Once that has been sorted out, Rice will prepare to link up with the rest of Arteta’s squad in the coming weeks.
Rice’s preferred destination was always North London, despite his admiration for Pep Guardiola and their trophy haul.

The player is away on holiday and not expected back for another fortnight following his England exploits.
Arteta wants Rice fully integrated before they head off on their pre-season tour to the States, their opening game coming on July 20.
He leaves West Ham having led the club to their first major silverware in 43 years – winning the Europa Conference League in his final game.
Rice was preparing to enter the last year of his contract at the London Stadium.
He had rejected improved contract offers over the past 18 months as West Ham looked to tie him down to a longer deal.
This included the chance to earn £200,000 a week.
But chairman David Sullivan admitted after the Conference League win that the memorable final would likely have been Rice’s final game for the club because he “wanted to go” – and so it has proved.
Rice was in Chelsea’s academy until he was released aged 14 and joined West Ham in 2014.
He broke through into the first team in 2017 and has gone on to make 245 appearances for the East Londoners.
The dramatic 2-1 win over Fiorentina in Prague, sealed by Jarrod Bowen’s late winner, etched skipper Rice’s name into the club’s history books forever.
But few could begrudge the talismanic figure from fulfilling his desire to compete for the top titles regularly, including the Premier League and Champions League.
Arsenal confirmed the signing of Chelsea ace Kai Havertz for £65m on Wednesday evening.

Arteta hinted he has signed the German to play as a midfielder – rather than in attack as he did at Stamford Bridge.
A £40m offer is also in for Ajax defender Timber and they are in talks with Southampton for £45m-rated Lavia. More
