WEST HAM star Tomas Soucek is being lined up by Italian giants Inter Milan ahead of a possible free transfer at the end of the season, according to reports in Italy. The Czech midfielder’s contract expires in June 2024 but West Ham do have an option to extend it by another year.

Corriere dello Sport report that West Ham will not activate the clause should Soucek make it clear that he wants to leave and that could see him join Inter on a free.
The Milan club have been active in the free agency market in recent years, bringing in Marcus Thuram, Davy Klaasen and Juan Cuadrado as free agents this summer.
In the past they have also brought in the likes of Hakan Calhanoglu, Andre Onana and Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
Inter manager Simone Inzaghi is keen to add some steel to the Inter midfield and Soucek fits the bill as a player that can not only provide solidity but score goals too.

The Czech Republic international has four goals and one assist in his 10 games for West Ham so far this season in all competitions.
The midfielder has also scored in The Hammers’ last two games against Sheffield United and Newcastle.
Soucek has undergone a revival this season after The Hammers lost Declan Rice to Arsenal in a £100million deal.
The absence of Rice has allowed Soucek to get forward again and return a similar amount of goals as he last did in the 2020/21 season.

Since joining West Ham in January 2020, Soucek has made 165 appearances for West Ham, scoring 26 goals and becoming a fans’ favourite at The London Stadium.
Inter have won the Coppa Italia and Italian Super Cup in Inzaghi’s two seasons in charge – as well as reaching last year’s Champions League final which they lost to Manchester City.
Their quest for their first Scudetto since Antonio Conte led them to victory in 2021 got off to the perfect start, with the club winning their opening five games.
But they have won just one of their three games since then and go into the international break off the back of a disappointing 2-2 draw at home to Bologna. More

West Ham fans fume that ‘ref’s had a mare’ after spotting what Alexander Isak did before scoring for Newcastle

WEST HAM fans fumed after spotting what Alexander Isak did before scoring his second goal on Sunday.Isak’s strike looked to be the winner for Newcastle until Mohammed Kudus netted a dramatic 89th-minute equaliser.

Replays showed Isak with two hands on Aguerd’s back
The defender was nowhere near the ball by the time Isak tapped home
But replays on Match Of The Day highlighted a push from Isak on Nayef Aguerd before the Newcastle man tapped the ball in.
One West Ham fan tweeted: “And how isn’t this a foul…? Aguerd clearly gets pushed in the back by Isak for the goal. Another p**s poor decision yesterday ffs.”
Another wrote: “I thought this was poor defending from Aguerd at the time, but now seeing this it’s hard to blame him.
“Isak has pushed him out the way with both hands, according to the rule book now that’s a foul.”

And a third wrote: “There is a clear foul there, Isak on Aguerd for Newcastle’s second goal, why didn’t VAR pick that up, a clear shove with both hands.”
But not everyone was convinced that the contact was significant enough to be called as a foul, particularly with the supposed high bar VAR has for intervening in goals scored.
One fan wrote: “Isak might have made contact with Aguerd’s back but it’s not enough for it to be ruled out whatsoever.”
And a West Ham fan replied to the tweet saying: “Poor defending yet again from Aguerd” alongside a nonplussed shrugging emoji.

Watch awkward moment David Moyes ‘has a go’ at reporter as West Ham boss bristles at question about Jarrod Bowen

DAVID MOYES had a bizarre reaction when asked about Jarrod Bowen’s England call-up before his side’s match with Freiburg.TNT’s Archie Rhind-Tutt, talking to the West Ham boss just before the game, mentioned that Bowen had got back in the England squad then asked: “What are the qualities that have made him stand out in your team?”
Moyes unleashed his full steely eyed gaze on the reporter when asked about BowenCredit: TNT Sports
A prickly Moyes responded: “Well I’m not going to answer anything about Jarrod getting in the England team before a West Ham cup game tonight so let’s keep to the West Ham questions please.”
A bemused Rhind-Tutt responded: “But just the qualities he’s shown in your team then.”
Moyes – who has form for snapping at journalists – then gave a more normal response and said: “He’s a really good player. He can play many positions and we’ll use him in different positions tonight.”
Rhind-Tutt took to Twitter after to say: “David Moyes had a go at me and I’m still not sure why” as he shared the interaction.

One fan responded: “Totally unnecessary response to a pretty ordinary question. Handled well.”
Another wrote: “Was a bit weird wasn’t it.”
And a third said: “Could he be concerned about trying to keep Bowen’s feet on the ground? International selection really irks some club managers and I guess they’d rather they ignored their players, especially at sides outside the top 4 or so?”
It’s not the first time Moyes has snapped at a journalist.

When one dared call him ‘Moyesy’ the coach began to laugh and replied: “F***ing hell, I don’t think we are that close.”
He also had an angry exchange with his own player last year.
After the latest outburst, Moyes was then asked about the fact that West Ham had to play without any away fans owing to a ban they received for throwing missiles during last year’s Conference League final.
He said: “It’s really difficult because part of getting your team in Europe is you really want your supporters to enjoy the trips and I think over the last few years we’ve hopefully given them a few trips they’ve enjoyed.
“Especially last year, winning in Prague. But for them not to be here tonight is disappointing.”
Those fans would have laid their eyes on more Europa glory had they been there, with West Ham winning 2-1 thanks to headed goals from Lucas Pacqueta and Nayef Aguerd.
The away win leaves them top of the group and in pole position to progress to the Round of 16. More

Freiburg 1 West Ham 2: Aguerd bullet header sees Hammers make it two out of two and set new English European record

LUCAS PAQUETA gave the Breisgau Brazilians a real taste of some Samba brilliance as West Ham battled their way to another record-breaking European night.Bundesliga’s SC Freiburg – from the Black Forest region of Breisgau – are compared to the Brazilian national team due to their apparent silky style of play.

The Brazilian celebrated with a trademark danceCredit: Rex
Yet the Germans were given a serious Europa League lesson by a Hammers side dripping in continental confidence after Paqueta’s sublime eighth minute header opened the scoring.
Having seen their lead briefly flattened by Roland Sallai’s 49th minute leveller, it was another header from Nayef Aguerd in the 66th minute that eventually earned West Ham the crucial victory.
But make no mistake, all eyes were on Paqueta on his 50th West Ham appearance. He oozes class, arrogance and grit in ways the East Londoners have not seen for years.
It is just a shame none of them were here at the Europa Stadion to witness it, serving their one-match ban for tossing missiles at the Conference League final in Prague.
David Moyes’ men are now unbeaten in their last 17 European matches, dating back to August last year – the longest of any English side in history.
More than Don Revie’s Leeds. More than Bill Nicholson’s Tottenham. More than Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.
As Moyes alluded to in his pre-match press conference, after three successive years in Europe, winning the Europa Conference League back in June, it is beginning to feel like Euro trips like this are now embedded in the club’s DNA.
And while nights like these appear tough on paper – West Ham had lost their last three visits to Germany dating back to 1966 – in practice they turn out to be relatively simple thanks to West Ham’s experience and quality.

Two wins from two in Group A, and the knock-outs already beckon.
Paqueta really was tremendous. The leap for his early opener silenced the raucous Freiburg support, and spent the rest of the evening teasing and toying with anyone who dared.
And to think, he could have been plying his trade at Manchester City in the Champions League but for an untimely ongoing FA investigation into betting breaches foiling his switch.
Jarrod Bowen also played his part, starring down the middle in the absence of the injured Michail Antonio for the first time since April.
He had the aura of a man recently recalled to Gareth Southgate’s England squad. His dart down the flank and cross for Paqueta’s goal was worthy of an international stage.
Mohammed Kudus made up an exciting-looking front three. The Ghanaian simply has to be given his first Premier League start against Newcastle on Sunday, such is his talent.
The first half had all the trademarks of a complete away-day performance, from Konstantinos Mavropanos in defence to the calming midfield presence of Edson Alvarez.
Yet the start to the second half was a different story. West Ham looked nervy, edgy and without that tempo and intensity that initially saw them restrict Freiburg to very little.
Lukasz Fabianski will feel hard done by for the equaliser, making two brilliant stops before Sallai fired home at the third time of asking.
But a bullet Aguerd header ensured the Hammers headed back to London with three pointsCredit: Reuters
Freiburg pressed for more. Kiliann Sildillia smacked the upright and Lucas Holer blazed over a golden chance with the goal gaping.
West Ham responded. Kudus came to life with a loose ball and his delivery was almost nodded in being an onrushing Bowen at the back post.
Seconds later, the lead was theirs again. James Ward-Prowse with one of his inch-perfect corners and Aguerd rose highest, his thumping header in off the underside of the bar.
How is Ward-Prowse not back representing the Three Lions this month? This was his sixth assist in all competitions since signing in the summer.
Paqueta’s last act in the dying moments before being subbed drenched in sweat was majestic.
The deft touch, fending off three defenders and the chip with backspin to send Bowen through but for a rushed finish. Thankfully, it did not come back to bite West Ham.

I’m penalty-saving expert with secret plan.. West Ham won’t put me off in Carabao Cup shootout after Sheff Utd dark arts

LINCOLN keeper Lukas Jensen has warned West Ham not to try any dirty tricks to stop him producing another heroic Carabao Cup performance. The Hammers travel to Sincil Bank on Wednesday for a third-round tie against the League One Imps, who have already taken a Premier League scalp this season.
Lincoln keeper Lukas Jensen is a specialist in saving penalties
Jubilant scenes as Lincoln players celebrate with hero keeper Lukas Jensen
Jensen kept a clean sheet before starring in the penalty shootout win at Sheffield United in the last round by saving two penalties … but only after Blades keeper Adam Davies tried to ruin his masterplan.
The Imps ace, 24, told SunSport: “I had all the names of the Sheffield United players and which way they usually shoot on a piece of paper wrapped around my water bottle.
“But their keeper kicked it into the stands so I couldn’t see!
“Luckily, though, my goalkeeper coach Scott Fry and the other goalie Jordan Wright were there to let me know instead.

“I ended up saving the ones from Louis Marsh and Benie Traore and then Jon Egan put their last penalty over the bar to give us a 3-2 win.
“The Sheffield United goalkeeper coach came to me afterwards to apologise and say he was the one who had instructed for the bottle to be kicked into the stands.
“He told me the story about Brice Samba. He had done the same as me with the notes on the water bottle a couple of seasons ago and saved three penalties for Nottingham Forest against them in the Championship play-offs— so they didn’t want a repeat.
“West Ham can do what they like tonight as it won’t affect me. I have a good penalty technique. My size being 6ft 6in helps me, I can look intimidating for someone about to take a kick.

“If I look as big as possible and choose the right side when they shoot, I’ll have a great opportunity to save them. And to be honest I don’t really practice them. I’m natural.”
Jensen signed for Lincoln in the summer after four years on the books at Burnley.
And it is no surprise he has developed into a good keeper, given he worked with three England internationals Nick Pope, Tom Heaton and Joe Hart during his time at Turf Moor.
Also he worked alongside Northern Ireland stopper Bailey Peacock-Farrell and Welsh ace Wayne Hennessey.
So it was no wonder that he did not get much of a look-in at Burnley, apart from being on the bench for three Premier League games and being involved in the squad on a dozen occasions.
Nick Pope was a huge help for Jensen at Burnley
Joe Hart gave Jensen plenty of tips when they were together at Turf Moor
He said: “I enjoyed working with Nick because we’re similar in size. I could learn everything from him.
“From how he moves in the goal and it’s the same with Joe because he’s a big guy too. I’m only a few centimetres taller than him.
“They both told me loads and I’m grateful for everything they’ve taught me because although it seems a bit stupid when they tell you something at that moment, a few months or years later you can use it.
“They also taught me things like how to talk to people. I was new at the time coming to England from Denmark. So it was how to interact, how to greet people when you meet them. It was simple stuff like that.
“But going into goalkeeping specifics, it was how to move around in goal, how to deal with certain situations, all that kind of stuff. All very technical.
I have a good penalty technique. My size being 6ft 6in helps me, I can look intimidating for someone about to take a kick.LUKAS JENSEN
“And I used every moment of it when I went out on loans because I was meeting new staff, new team-mates and that has been very helpful to me.”
Jensen had loans with Bolton, Kórdrengir in Iceland and Carlisle before his breakthrough campaign last season at Accrington where he made 29 League One starts and six in cup competitions.
And he saved two penalties AGAINST Lincoln in the Papa Johns Trophy, which brought him to their attention.
Jensen said: “I had a chance to stay at Burnley for another year but would’ve only been loaned out again so we decided it was best I leave and here I am now at Lincoln.
“We’ve got a talented squad who can achieve things this season. Against West Ham, we’ll try to get through the first half hour and then anything is possible.

Lukas Jensen is getting ready for a huge game against West Ham
“I’ve a lot of respect for Lukasz Fabianski. If he plays tomorrow, I’ll certainly be wanting to chat with him after all the great years he’s had in the Premier League and with Poland.
“But if it goes to penalties, I’m going to be hoping to be the happier keeper at the end!” More
