Soucek was involved in a tussle for the ball with Jan Bednarek and he found himself on the floor.
And when Bednarek followed through on a challenge he accidentally kicked Soucek in the face.
The Hammers star was left bloodied and pictures of him on the plane leaving Poland revealed the brutal scars he suffered from the kick.
Remarkably, Soucek managed the full 90 minutes and finished the match with bandaging around his head.

And that is not for the first time either, having showed the same bravery in West Ham colours.
Soucek’s equaliser in Warsaw keeps the Czechs’ chances of Euro 2024 qualification alive.
Poland did take the lead in the 38th minute through Piotrowski, who finished from close range for his debut goal in his second appearance for the national team.
But Soucek levelled after the break with a low shot towards the far post.

The Czechs are second on 12 points, two points behind leaders Albania — who qualified with a 1-1 draw away to Moldova earlier on Friday — and one point ahead of third-placed Poland.
They can seal their eighth successive appearance at the Euro finals on Monday when they host Moldova, in fourth on 10 points, needing at least a draw.
Poland, who played their final qualifying match in their bid to make a fifth consecutive Euro finals, still have a chance to see their fate decided in the playoffs.

Still, 31, watched on as Tomas Soucek and Jarrod Bowen netted for West Ham after they had fallen 2-1 behind to the East Midlands outfit.
The win propelled West Ham back into the top half of the Premier League and relieved pressure off Moyes.
The Scot had come under scrutiny after the club’s questionable league form saw them drop down the table after a promising start to the season.
There are thought to be no immediate plans to sack Moyes from his position as manager.

However, he is in the last year of his contract with the East London club and it has been claimed that he could be offered a job behind the scenes.
And fans seeing Still at the stadium are now claiming that he would be their “dream” replacement for the Conference League winner.
One fan posted: “The man I’d like to replace Moyes if he ever leaves. My managerial man crush.”
A second wrote: “Would love it!”

    A fourth added: “Please god.”
Another said: “I’d 100% be looking at Will Still as a long-term Moyes replacement.”
Still has been tearing it up at Stade de Reims in Ligue 1.
He took charge of the club in the midst of a relegation battle last season and led the club on a 17-game unbeaten run.
The manager managed the feat without coaching badges, a problem that cost the French club £21,000 per match due to fines from Ligue 1.
That is no longer the case as he has been doing a course at the National Football Centre near Brussels.
Still’s initial success does not appear to be a fluke as he currently has his side 5th in France’s top-flight.
He does have connections to the Hammers having previously admitted that he has always been a supporter of the club.
He had been asked about taking over at the club at some point in his career, to which he claimed he would not “think twice about it”.
He said: “I’ve never had a career plan. I take what comes. But I admit that the little child in me wants to go back to England.
“It’s my home, it’s my championship, the best in the world. I have always been a supporter of West-Ham.

David Moyes ‘lined up for shock new job with West Ham unlikely to extend 60-year-old’s contract’

Moyes has been in charge of the club since 2019, guiding them to three back-to-back seasons in Europe after winning the Conference League last term.
But reports suggest his future is now in doubt.
There were behind-the-scenes disagreements with signings over the summer following the appointment of new director of football Tim Steidten.
The issues have since been resolved but the Irons may decide that Moyes has taken the club as far as he can on the pitch.

He could instead be offered a role “upstairs”, claim The Mail.
It is unclear what the position would consist of with Hammers legend Mark Noble also a club chief after his retirement in 2022.

Meanwhile, UEFA are supposedly keen to offer Moyes a job.
The former Everton and Manchester United boss could land a technical role at the governing body as they look to utilise his 25 years of experience as a gaffer.

How West Ham could line up after January transfer window with new striker & Man Utd duo as Sheikh Jassim lines up bid

WEST HAM could have a very different look in January as they eye up a new striker and a Manchester United duo.Qatari royal Sheikh Jassim is reportedly ready to purchase a stake in the Hammers after being snubbed by United.

The Sheikh wanted a complete £5billion or the Red Devils, with the Glazers instead preferring to sell a smaller stake to Sir Jim Ratcliffe.
And some of that money could now find its way to East London instead.
That means manager David Moyes could be for a very busy January transfer window.
Top of the Scotsman’s list is a new striker, with Danny Ings is yet to prove to be of any competition to No9 Michail Antonio.
    READ MORE IN FOOTBALL
Mexican hot-shot Santiago Gimenez may be the man to change that, following his remarkable goal-scoring form for Feyenoord.
Tottenham, Arsenal, Newcastle, Inter Milan, AC Milan, Juventus, Napoli, Lazio, Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid all have their eyes on the 22-year-old.
And there is a valid reason for that as so far this term he has scored 15 times in 11 outings in all competitions.
The East London side did spark interest in the striker during the summer, but Gimenez ended up securing a long-term deal with the Eredivisie side until 2027.

West Ham are in line to make a move on Manchester United duo Anthony Martial and Harry MaguireCredit: Reuters
That means he will not come cheap in the new year, as the Rotterdam club have already valued their frontman at £40million.
And Moyes could move for United’s Anthony Martial if a deal for Gimenez cannot be done.
The Frenchman, still only 27, is in desperate need of a career lifeline.
The injury-plagued striker has not completed a full Premier League game since January 2021.
But Martial’s experience, with over 300 games for United, could be a useful asset to Moyes, alongside right winger Jarrod Bowen.
And Martial could not be the only out-of-favour Red Devil moving to the London Stadium, with the Hammers ready to try again for Harry Maguire.
The Hammers offered £20m for the former United captain in the summer, but saw their bid rejected by the player.
However, Maguire has since hinted that he could leave in January ahead of Euro 2024 if he continues to receive limited game time.
England stalwart Maguire’s experience would certainly be beneficial to Nayef Aguerd in the West Ham backline.

But a cheaper option would be Club America’s Uruguay centre-back Sebastian Caceres.
The Hammers could seal a deal with the 24-year-old in January for as little as £6million.

The star midfielder came off the bench in the 57th minute during the Carabao Cup Fourth Round match.
However, that wasn’t a homecoming to be remembered as he was jeered by many home fans, who still haven’t forgiven him for joining their London rivals.
However, there was also a section of supporters who haven’t forgotten his eight-year contribution to the club and rose to their feet to applaud their former captain.
The East Londoners’ manager David Moyes urged the fans to show the 24-year-old the respect that he deserves before the match but there were some who didn’t take his advice.

The England international, though, wasn’t daunted by the boos as he took to Instagram after the match to issue a story of him showing appreciation to the West Ham faithful.

Rice’s homecoming really didn’t go the way he hoped as Arsenal were also knocked out of the Carabao Cup.
West Ham won 3-1 thanks to an own-goal by Ben White and goals by Mohammed Kudus and Jarrod Bowen.
The North Londoners’ captain Martin Odegaard eased the blow for his team when he hit the back of the net during stoppage time.
Moyes’ men are now set for another difficult match in the competition as they will visit Liverpool in the quarter-finals on December 19. More

David Moyes’ side have proven to still be a capable team despite the loss of Declan Rice in the summer.
The England international completed a £105million transfer away from the club as he joined London rivals Arsenal.
West Ham spent the money wisely as stars such as James Ward-Prowse and Edson Alvarez arrived to bolster the midfield.
However, the club could look to further invest in strengthening the squad with a move for Locatelli.

Italian outlet Tutto Mercato has claimed that the Hammers are willing to offer the Serie A gianst £35m for Locatelli.
The report does suggest that the bid will fail as Juventus are keen to offer the Italian a new contract.
West Ham are not the first Premier League outfit to have been linked with a move for the international ace.
Arsenal have also been touted with an interest in the midfielder in the past.

It was reported earlier this year that Locatelli rejected a move to the Emirates.
Locatelli’s brother Mattia has explained that the love he has for Juventus was behind his decision to reject a switch to the Gunners.
Speaking to Calcio Mercato, he said: “I still remember the negotiation [with Juventus]. For him it was very long.
“There was also Arsenal, but he wanted Juventus. The clubs kept meeting, but without reaching an agreement.
Where Locatelli could fit into David Moyes’ team
“Every day I looked at the Gazzetta to check. In Sassuolo he trained separately, in him the desire to change. A real emotion.
“On the day of his debut, he sent us a photo with the shirt and the words ‘I made it’.”
Continuing to describe Locatelli’s love for Juve, Mattia added: “He gives everything for Juve. He loves those colours.
“The first days? It didn’t seem real to him. And then I realised there was a reason he was there with them.
“Manuel is very happy to be there.”

However, should West Ham be able to convince him to leave his beloved Juventus, then their midfield could look even stronger.
Locatelli could line-up alongside Ward-Prowse and Alvarez in the middle of the pitch in what would be a trio that could rival many of the top clubs in the Premier League. More

The Hammers were strongly linked with a move for Maguire in the summer.
Despite reports claiming they had agreed a fee with United, a transfer never materialised.
However, ESPN now report that West Ham are eyeing a fresh approach for Maguire in January.
David Moyes’ side are said to believe that the deal can be revived, with the Red Devils willing to allow the centre-back to leave.

West Ham’s interest comes amid Saudi interest in Kurt Zouma, with the club keen to agree a new deal with the Frenchman.
Earlier this week, Maguire claimed he did not turn down a move to the London Stadium in the summer.
Speaking to the media whilst on international duty, the 30-year-old explained: “The actual opportunity to go to West Ham, it wasn’t agreed really between both clubs and myself.
“It wasn’t just my chance to say, ‘Yes, I’m going.’ It wasn’t agreed between both clubs so the actual opportunity wasn’t there because we didn’t get far enough down the line with it.”
