I’m penalty-saving expert with secret plan.. West Ham won’t put me off in Carabao Cup shootout after Sheff Utd dark arts

LINCOLN keeper Lukas Jensen has warned West Ham not to try any dirty tricks to stop him producing another heroic Carabao Cup performance. The Hammers travel to Sincil Bank on Wednesday for a third-round tie against the League One Imps, who have already taken a Premier League scalp this season.
Lincoln keeper Lukas Jensen is a specialist in saving penalties
Jubilant scenes as Lincoln players celebrate with hero keeper Lukas Jensen
Jensen kept a clean sheet before starring in the penalty shootout win at Sheffield United in the last round by saving two penalties … but only after Blades keeper Adam Davies tried to ruin his masterplan.
The Imps ace, 24, told SunSport: “I had all the names of the Sheffield United players and which way they usually shoot on a piece of paper wrapped around my water bottle.
“But their keeper kicked it into the stands so I couldn’t see!
“Luckily, though, my goalkeeper coach Scott Fry and the other goalie Jordan Wright were there to let me know instead.

“I ended up saving the ones from Louis Marsh and Benie Traore and then Jon Egan put their last penalty over the bar to give us a 3-2 win.
“The Sheffield United goalkeeper coach came to me afterwards to apologise and say he was the one who had instructed for the bottle to be kicked into the stands.
“He told me the story about Brice Samba. He had done the same as me with the notes on the water bottle a couple of seasons ago and saved three penalties for Nottingham Forest against them in the Championship play-offs— so they didn’t want a repeat.
“West Ham can do what they like tonight as it won’t affect me. I have a good penalty technique. My size being 6ft 6in helps me, I can look intimidating for someone about to take a kick.

“If I look as big as possible and choose the right side when they shoot, I’ll have a great opportunity to save them. And to be honest I don’t really practice them. I’m natural.”
Jensen signed for Lincoln in the summer after four years on the books at Burnley.
And it is no surprise he has developed into a good keeper, given he worked with three England internationals Nick Pope, Tom Heaton and Joe Hart during his time at Turf Moor.
Also he worked alongside Northern Ireland stopper Bailey Peacock-Farrell and Welsh ace Wayne Hennessey.
So it was no wonder that he did not get much of a look-in at Burnley, apart from being on the bench for three Premier League games and being involved in the squad on a dozen occasions.
Nick Pope was a huge help for Jensen at Burnley
Joe Hart gave Jensen plenty of tips when they were together at Turf Moor
He said: “I enjoyed working with Nick because we’re similar in size. I could learn everything from him.
“From how he moves in the goal and it’s the same with Joe because he’s a big guy too. I’m only a few centimetres taller than him.
“They both told me loads and I’m grateful for everything they’ve taught me because although it seems a bit stupid when they tell you something at that moment, a few months or years later you can use it.
“They also taught me things like how to talk to people. I was new at the time coming to England from Denmark. So it was how to interact, how to greet people when you meet them. It was simple stuff like that.
“But going into goalkeeping specifics, it was how to move around in goal, how to deal with certain situations, all that kind of stuff. All very technical.
I have a good penalty technique. My size being 6ft 6in helps me, I can look intimidating for someone about to take a kick.LUKAS JENSEN
“And I used every moment of it when I went out on loans because I was meeting new staff, new team-mates and that has been very helpful to me.”
Jensen had loans with Bolton, Kórdrengir in Iceland and Carlisle before his breakthrough campaign last season at Accrington where he made 29 League One starts and six in cup competitions.
And he saved two penalties AGAINST Lincoln in the Papa Johns Trophy, which brought him to their attention.
Jensen said: “I had a chance to stay at Burnley for another year but would’ve only been loaned out again so we decided it was best I leave and here I am now at Lincoln.
“We’ve got a talented squad who can achieve things this season. Against West Ham, we’ll try to get through the first half hour and then anything is possible.

“I’ve a lot of respect for Lukasz Fabianski. If he plays tomorrow, I’ll certainly be wanting to chat with him after all the great years he’s had in the Premier League and with Poland.
“But if it goes to penalties, I’m going to be hoping to be the happier keeper at the end!” More

Meet the Ghanaian Hammers fan club who have turned Mohammed Kudus’ hometown claret and blue for hero’s West Ham debut

MOHAMMED KUDUS’ hometown was awash with claret and blue as the West Ham star prepares for his home debut.A few miles outside of Ghana’s capital city Accra, the streets had a distinct East London vibe.
Fans in small town Nima will make Mohammed Kudus’ expected home debut against Man City on Saturday special for them too

Hammers jerseys from various decades were being worn with pride — one fan even donned club legend Billy Bonds’ name on the back of his jersey.
The Irons arm symbol was performed at any nearby camera, while some were using actual hammers.
And in the small town of Nima, birthplace of Kudus, there was a buzz among the market stalls.
Kudus only joined West Ham from Ajax in a £37.5million deal last month but fan group Ghanaian Hammers have already helped organise celebrations.

Relief packages containing water and food supplies for the poor were handed out. Volunteers even had Kudus’ face printed on T-shirts.
The winger is an idol around these parts. Murals of the 23-year-old cover the walls of the town, a place he still regularly visits.
Issahaku Abdul-Mumen, president of the Ghanaian Hammers since 2010, told SunSport: “Kudus had a great upbringing and his respect for his roots is something dear to his heart.
“In the off-season, he visits the community where it all started.

“Giving back to the society is something Kudus cares about and he has been providing assistance to the less privileged kids and his childhood team with donations.
“Kudus is an idol to the upcoming generation.”
Kudus has spoken of collaborating with Ghanaian Hammers to continue support to his beloved Nima.
Yet due to the lack of opportunities and limited facilities, making it as a professional footballer is still described as a “battle”.
Kudus was spotted thanks to an agent-organised match between his local side Strong Tower FC and Ghana’s Right to Dream academy in 2010, initially formed by ex-Manchester United scout Tom Vernon.
Abdul explained: “Without this match, he would have gone unnoticed.”
Right to Dream gathered pace, as well as financial backers, purchasing Danish club FC Nordsjaelland, who in turn brought Kudus to Denmark as a 17-year-old.

The first to make the transition from the African academy to Europe, he made his senior debut in 2018. Two years later, he joined Ajax for around £8m.
And now, another home debut awaits him, this time in the Prem, with champs Manchester City visiting the London Stadium on Saturday.
His first appearance was brief — as a late sub in the 2-1 win at Luton — but Kudus is already adored in claret and blue.

Last week, one West Ham fan travelled to Kumasi — four hours outside of Accra — to watch him play for Ghana in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.
The St Albans-based fan later got the chance to speak with Kudus. He said: “I told Kudus what we expect of him as fans and how he can be a hero.”

Zouma has impressed so far this season, so much so that Hammers boss David Moyes has opted to give him the armband on a permanent basis.
The Scot revealed on Friday: “Kurt will continue as captain. He’s done a good job.
“We’ve won three and drawn one of the opening four games, so he will continue in the role.”
Zouma’s future at the London Stadium was up in the air last February after SunSport exclusively revealed he’d kicked his cat in a sickening video.

The centre-back, who has made 68 appearances for the Hammers since joining from Chelsea for £32m in 2021, was filmed booting and slapping the feline by his brother and had his cats taken away from him.

He was also fined £250,000 by West Ham – the fee donated to animal welfare charities.

West Ham confirm 24-man Premier League squad… and fans reckon they know who’ll pinch the final spot on free transfer

WEST HAM have dropped a major hint that Jesse Lingard could be set to re-join the club. The Hammers confirmed their squad for the Premier League season and were allowed to name up to 25 players.

However, David Moyes has picked just 24 with fans convinced it is leaving the door open to Lingard’s return.
Clubs that have not named the maximum amount of players can register free agents subject to Prem approval.
The attacking midfielder is currently without a team after seeing his Nottingham Forest deal expire at the end of last season.
Lingard has been training with West Ham over the summer to maintain his fitness and could be set to land a short-term contract.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Moyes suggested that the 30-year-old could pull on the claret and blue shirt again.
He said: “Jesse has trained with us for three weeks and he’s improved greatly from when he first came in.
“He’s in really good condition – much better condition than he was when he first came in.”
The former Manchester United star became a fans’ favourite in East London during a loan spell there in 2021.

He joined in January and helped fire West Ham into the Europa League with nine goals and five assists in 16 matches.
The club made an effort to make the deal permanent but they could not agree a deal with him and he stayed at Old Trafford for one more year, scoring a winner against the Irons that season.
Again, West Ham tried and failed to sign him last summer as Forest snapped up him up.
Fans believe West Ham will finally get their man, one said: “Space left for Lingz.”
Another added: “Room for one more.”
West Ham cannot include more than 17 non-homegrown players so they have named eight born in England to fill the quota.
Players aged Under-21 do not have to be included.
There is no space for Lingard in their Europa League squad.

David Moyes gives update on Jesse Lingard future after confirming ex-Man Utd star is training with West Ham

The 30-year-old has been training with The Hammers and is said to have impressed during his time with the club so far.
Lingard spent time on loan at the London Stadium during the 2020-21 campaign – scoring nine goals in 16 appearances.
The midfielder returned to parent club Manchester United that summer before joining Nottingham Forest in 2022 – despite interest from West Ham.
But last season’s exploits with Forest didn’t see the former England International reach the heights of his West Ham loan spell.

Lingard struggled to stay fit and when he did he was rarely picked by Tricky Trees boss Steve Cooper.
He featured just 17 times in the league all season and failed to put up any numbers when it came to goals and assists.
Speaking on TalkSPORT, West Ham boss Moyes hinted at the prospect of Lingard earning a contract.
He said: “Jesse has trained with us for three weeks and he’s improved greatly from when he first came in.

“He’s in really good condition – much better condition than he was when he first came in.”
Lingard’s short spell for the Irons assisted the East London side to finish sixth making the cut for the Europa League.
Moyes continued: “I have to say, when Jesse joined us two years ago I think he scored nine goals in 15 games and was probably the difference between us getting into Europe for the first time.
“I want to give him every opportunity to get himself back in condition and see how he does.
“So there’s no real update on it at the moment, just to say that he’s back and getting much closer to the levels of fitness where you’d hope he would be.”
The Scotsman will be hoping that a spell in East London can help Lingard return to his imperious form of 2021.
The Europa Conference champs are unbeaten in four Premier League games this season with their next game against last season’s treble winners Man City this Saturday. More

The free agent left Nottingham Forest last season without a club after failing to score in 17 Premier League outings as Steve Cooper’s side narrowly avoided relegation.
Since his departure, Lingard has been training in East London to get his fitness up to scratch.
This has left Moyes on the brink of signing the Englishman again.
Lingard previously enjoyed a successful half-season loan in 2020-2021 at West Ham under Moyes, scoring nine goals and five assists in only 16 games.
