    ENGLAND have got their U20 World Cup campaign off to the perfect star with a 1-0 win over Tunisia. Tottenham starlet Dane Scarlett scored the game’s only goal as the Young Lions now look towards their second group game against Uruguay.

    Dane Scarlett rose above the Tunisian defenders to head home Harvey Vale’s pinpoint cross.
    When balls of that sort of quality are put into the box, it only takes a touch for a certain goal.
    The North African’s keeper had no chance of keeping it out.
    This result will give the Young Lions even more confidence as they look to progress in this tournament.

    There has been a bitter feeling in the England camp in the lead up to this tournament after clubs pulled their players from the squad.
    Ian Foster was without three of his first team regulars as a result of the decisions.
    The Young Lions’ manager, reshuffled the pack and managed to grind out a victory in their opening fixture.
    As the defending champions of UEFA Euros, they will face their South American equivalent, in what will be the toughest game they expect to face in this group.

    England have started their 2023 FIFA World Cup campaign with a win, albeit a slender one against Tunisia.
    The North Africans are appearing at the tournament for the first time since 1985 and gave a good showing of themsleves.
    Matthew Cox did not have a busy evening in the England goal but when he was called upon, he did well.
    They will face a much more difficult opponent in Uruguay later in the week but have time to prepare for it now.

    It seemed he had the goal at his mercy but his side footed effort came back off the post.
    The Young Lions dominated the game today as most would have expected but with their depleted squad, they will just be happy for the win.

      Who is England Under-20 manager Ian Foster?

      ENGLAND travel to Argentina in search of more World Cup success and Under-20 gaffer Ian Foster will be calling the shots. Foster is no stranger to lifting titles having guided the U19’s side to a European Championship triumph in 2021.

      However, the Englishman will want to double up on his winnings by helping the U20 put another World Cup in their cabinet.
      But what else do we know about Ian Foster? Find out below…
      Who is Ian Foster?
      Born on November 11, 1976, Ian Foster was raised in Whiston, Merseyside.
      The ex-striker started his footballing career at Liverpool but spent most of his playing days in the lower leagues enjoying success with the likes of Hereford United, Chester City and Kidderminster.

      And then in 2009, Foster decided to hang up his boots and go down the managerial route where his first port of call would be assistant manager of League of Ireland Premier Division club Galway United.
      By the end of the year, Ian got promoted to manager following Jeff Kenna’s departure, and his hard work earned him a role at Coventry City U18 in 2012.
      Foster then made the switch to first-team coach at then League Two Portsmouth in 2015 where he would go on to play an instrumental role in Pompey’s title win the following season.
      But that same year saw Foster finally make the breakthrough in taking up a position with the English FA – managing England Men’s U17s, U18s, U19s, Senior Women’s and currently the U20s.
