FORMER UFC star Anderson Silva has hailed himself a “superhero” despite Saturday’s boxing defeat to Jake Paul.Silva, 47, lost to the YouTuber-turned boxer by unanimous decision with scores of 77-74, 78-73 and 78-73.

The fight was competitive throughout, but Paul’s victory was sealed with a crucial knockdown in the eighth and final round.
Silva has since put his defeat down to tactical errors and the fact that Paul was the better fighter on the night.
In his post-fight press conference, he said: “Jake was better than me today.
“I tried to put on my strategy. … I don’t find my distance, and I failed in my strategy, and Jake was better than me. That’s it.”

When speaking about the knockdown, he added: “I talked to my coach like, ‘I don’t believe it. I trained so hard not to be in the same stupid position.
“But I’m human. I’m superhero, but sometimes my half human fail.”
Despite the defeat, Silva is eager to get back into the ring.
But, he has already made it clear that he will not beg for a rematch.

He added: “I know I lost. I know I failed in my whole strategy, and my opponent won.
“I’m not the same as the other guys that fight with Jake, like, ‘Oh, I need revenge. I need rematch.’ Let’s see what happens. Maybe. I don’t know.”
Paul’s victory saw him stretch his perfect boxing record to 6-0.
After the fight, the social media star called-out Canelo Alvarez and Nate Diaz while promising that there will be more to come.
He said: “This is just the start. I want Nate Diaz. Canelo, you too.

Paul’s win moved him to 6-0 and was by far his most credible to date.
Taking to the mic after the bout, the American opted to continue his long-running feud with UFC president Dana White.
Last year, the American begged Paul to stop calling out fighters on his roster, before declaring: “I f***ing guarantee you this: You ain’t gonna see Jake Paul calling Anderson Silva out.
“That I f***ing promise you.”

Reminding White of his comments, Paul, 25, mocked: “Dana? … Dana? … Dana?
“Bro, you said I wouldn’t do this, and I did it – with flying colours. But, you know, he’s in hiding.
“He’s trying to do everything he can to stop my run, to sabotage my fights. He hates me. He hates what I’m doing.
“He hates (that) I’m exposing his business, and now we’re gonna band together and create a united fighters’ association to help UFC fighters, all MMA fighters and boxers to get more fighter pay, long-term health care.

After flooring Silva in the eighth round, Paul explained: “We were just fighting in the clinch and he got caught on the way out.
“He took so many hard shots throughout the whole fight. The dude is a real dog.

“You see what happens to everyone else that gets hit with that. He’s the toughest guy in the world but I just wanted it more.
“I’m a real dog and I left it all in the ring.”
Paul could face UFC legend Nate Diaz next, after the Stockton legend’s contract with White’s promotion expired.
As reported by Ariel Helwani, members of Diaz and Paul’s teams BRAWLED backstage last night.
Helwani tweeted: “To follow up on what Jake said in there, when I was in the back I saw the Diaz team and the Paul team get into it.

Paul landed a counter right hook to leave the Brazilian UFC legend floored and staring defeat in the face.
The American was awarded a unanimous decision with scores of 77-74 and 78-73, twice as he defeated his idol-turned rival.
He said: “It’s a surreal moment. Hard work pays off. First and foremost, I want to say thank you to Anderson.
“He was my idol growing up. He inspired me to be great. He was the first celebrity I ever met.

“Without him, we wouldn’t have had a fight this year. He’s a tough mofo. A legend. I have nothing but respect for him.
“This just goes to show that anyone watching at home, chase your dreams. It’s never too late.
“I started boxing two-and-a-half years ago as a pro and just beat one of the greatest ever because I’m obsessed with this.
“I go so hard every single day. Nothing can get in my way. No distractions.”

Silva, 47, added: “I think the judges got it right. Listen, it’s tough to come inside here and fight a young kid. I tried to do my best.
“I trained hard every day. Jake is better than me today. I don’t have anything bad to say about my opponent.
“I think everybody needs to respect this kid because he’s doing the best job. I trained hard. I’m a warrior.”

It was his first opponent with a prior boxing record but Paul warned there is more to come.

Ex-UFC star Diaz, 37, was in attendance earlier in the night as his team-mate Chris Avila beat YouTuber Dr Mike.

But following a scuffle between his entourage and Paul’s later on in the night, he departed from the arena.
The two camps were said to have clashed backstage before Diaz left the arena.
He would have missed Paul’s breakout performance in which he floored and beat Silva, 47, on points.
The Brazilian UFC legend was dropped in the eighth and final round following a right hand.
