Conor McGregor launches astonishing attack on UFC claiming Dana White ‘held him back for SEVEN months’ from fighting

CONOR McGREGOR lashed out at the UFC again after insisting he was ‘held back’ from fighting for SEVEN months.
It came just days after Irishman explained he would return to the boxing ring to face Manny Pacquiao having been frozen out of the UFC picture.

McGregor had posted direct messages with Dana White where he demanded fights in February, May and August with Justin Gaethje and veteran Diego Sanchez named opponents.
But he believes the UFC instead wanted him to be a potential replacement for International Fight Week in July – seven months after his win against Donald Cerrone.
Former heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier questioned why McGregor did not agree to stand in as a replacement for Khabib Nurmagomedov, who pulled out of fighting Tony Ferguson in May.
McGregor, 32, responded: “I asked for May you fat fool, what you saying?

“I fought in January and tried to go again but was purposely held back to be an alternate for a July fight.
“Wait 7 whole f***ing months and “maybe” I’d get to fight? Are you stupid? What are you saying mate? I asked for May vs ANYONE!
“I asked for all these fights on February the 13th!! Corona didn’t exist.

“I was held back to wait it out to be an alternate for a fight many months away. There’s no other way to see this.”
McGregor had initially planned to stay prepared to fill in for either Nurmagomedov, 31, or Ferguson, 36.
But White claimed he was offered the chance after champion Khabib was unable to travel to the US, with Gaethje, 31, instead going on to win the interim belt.
McGregor hit back: “While then thrown under the bus saying that I turned down a fight with Tony after khabib had bottled it.
“Lol at that one. The deciphering abilities of people in this business absolutely baffles me!
    “It’s clear as f***ing day!”

    3

White claimed McGregor broke the ‘man code’ by releasing private messages.
But The Notorious believes he was wronged first after the promoted said he backed out of replacing Nurmagomedov.
White then went on to say he had ‘no idea’ about McGregor boxing Pacquiao, 41, in the Middle East.
McGregor responded: “You have been involved in Manny talks the legal letters are there. Stop lying.”
It is understood the UFC are on board with the former two-division champion facing Pacquiao in either December or January.
They then hope he can return to the Octagon to face the winner between Nurmagomedov and Gaethje, who fight in October.

Floyd Mayweather rematch with Manny Pacquiao targeted by Saudi Arabian investors after Conor McGregor’s boxing return

SAUDI ARABIAN money men are reportedly trying to persuade Floyd Mayweather to rematch Manny Pacquiao in the Middle East.
Mayweather outpointed Pacquiao in 2015 in what still stands as the richest fight in history.

And according to World Boxing News, Saudi chiefs want to cash in on a second instalment.
It would come five years after their initial fight, the exact time frame it took the rivals to eventually agree terms to meet in the ring.
Mayweather, 43, retired in 2017 after beating former UFC champion Conor McGregor, 32, in ten rounds.
He would then return a year later to stop featherweight kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa in a Japanese exhibition.

But last November the American legend announced he was ‘coming out of retirement in 2020’ and would work with UFC president Dana White to do so.
It fuelled speculation he could rematch Irishman McGregor, having admitted he had no interest in facing Pacquiao, 41, again.
But instead Mayweather’s two most lucrative opponents appear close to finalising a deal to fight each other.
Both McGregor and Pacquiao revealed they are in talks to box in December or January.

The Middle East is the likely location, with The Notorious teasing Saudi Arabia as the chosen destination in an Instagram post.
He retired from the UFC in June, but confirmed he will come out of retirement for his second boxing bout.
But with rival Khabib Nurmagomedov – who beat the Irishman in 2018 – facing Justin Gaethje in a lightweight unification next month, the UFC hopes McGregor can return to face the winner.
The UFC are on board, like they were three years ago, for the southpaw star to make his boxing return in the meantime as it could make the deal easier to finalise.

Conor McGregor regrets not getting ‘DQ’d and fined’ by giving Floyd Mayweather a ‘good boot into the neck’ in their bout

CONOR McGREGOR revealed he regrets not getting ‘DQ’d and fined’ for giving Floyd Mayweather a ‘good boot into the neck’.

Despite early success, the UFC star slowed down as the fight progressed, with Mayweather, 43, winning by tenth round stoppage.
Ahead of McGregor’s impending move back into the boxing ring against Manny Pacquiao, he boasted about proving doubters wrong on his debut.
The 32-year-old uploaded a picture of himself landing a left hand on Mayweather, and wrote: “The very first shot of the fight.
“Right on the button through the guard. I didn’t even put anything into that shot. Just placed it.

“It was hard for me not to dwell on the full 12 rounds that were potentially ahead of me and hold back my shots early.
“Still tho right on the absolute button. The first punch thrown. Remember the experts saying I wouldn’t land even 1 lol.
“I landed more than them all. The picture above is the very first punch of the fight thrown, and landed, and inside the very first second of the fight.

PacMan, 41, has chosen to fight the former two-weight UFC champion to raise money for those affected by the coronavirus pandemic in his native Philippines.

Despite the good natured reason for agreeing the bout, his trainer Freddie Roach took an online swipe at McGregor.
Roach insisted PacMan will beat the Irish southpaw quicker than he did against Ricky Hatton in 2009.
According to McGregor, he will decide on whether Pacquiao will be a recipient of one of his MMA strikes, depending on how the verbal jabs develop.
He explained: “I’m upset I fully followed the rules for that fight to be honest. Floyd deserved a volley at the least. A shoulder even, break the face.
“Manny not so much tho I don’t think, but I will see how the build up goes and wait to hear what bitter old Freddie Roach has to say and then make a decision.”

Conor McGregor slams UFC for ‘f***ed up’ decision to leave him ‘held back’ from fights as he confirms switch to boxing

CONOR McGREGOR has slammed the UFC for their ‘f***ed up’ decision to hold him back from fighting – as he confirms his switch to boxing.
The Irishman and 41-year-old Manny Pacquiao both confirmed they are in talks for a lucrative bout in the Middle East in either December or January.

The news came after McGregor released direct messages with UFC president Dana White, where he demanded several fights and suggested opponents.
Upon his impending move back into the boxing ring, the former two-weight UFC champion questioned why he has been left with just one fight this year.
McGregor wrote on Instagram: “I’d rather fight MMA anyway not sure why I’ve been held back like this, it’s borderline criminal at this stage.
“The biggest number generator in the game asking for four fights since February this year and getting left on seen.

“It’s pretty f***ed up when I keep thinking of it. I’ve been right here this whole time.

“Anyways boxing it is for now and I’m up for this! I hope no bottling takes place here.

Conor McGregor vs Manny Pacquiao CONFIRMED by Filipino with boxing match set for December or January

MANNY PACQUIAO has confirmed he will fight Conor McGregor in the boxing ring – and the bout is set for January.
The quick turn-around was revealed today – with the epic clash set to be held in the Middle East.

McGregor had talked up a return to boxing after announcing he was quitting UFC in the summer – and last night teased that he was going to fight the Filipino legend.
He tweeted: “Anyway all water under the bridge who gives a fook. I’m boxing Manny Pacquiao next in the Middle East.”
And pound-for-pound icon Pacquiao has now confirmed he will fight the Irishman in a sensational clash.
McGregor previously fought Floyd Mayweather under Queensberry Rules in 2017, and was stopped in the tenth round.

He has been eyeing another dabble into boxing for some time now despite that defeat.
Pacquaio, 41 – known as Pac Man – has now accepted the Irishman’s challenge.

A statement from Pacquiao’s office read: “For the sake of all the Filipino Covid-19 victims, Senator Manny Pacquiao will be fighting UFC superstar Conor McGregor next year.
“The huge portion of his earnings will proceed to those who are affected nationwide by the pandemic.”
Both men have previously fought Floyd Mayweather.
The Pac Man previously took on ‘Money’ Mayweather in 2015 in one of the biggest-grossing PPV fights in history.
But this was also one of the worst PPV fights ever, with the Filipino struggling to to get anywhere near his best form.
McGregor fans have mixed feelings about his return to boxing.
One said: “I’m a big fan Conor but ffs man get back to what you do best. Get back to the ufc and have a run at the 155 or 170 titles!”
But Conor McGoat said: “All of u will watch it. All of u will talk about it. So just shut up and witness greatness thank u Conor u are our lord and saviour.”
McGregor, 32, retired from UFC for a third time in four years earlier this summer.
He then yesterday teased that he would be coming back to fight Pacquaio.
In a succession of tweets, the Irishman said: “It will be a true honour to have faced two of the greatest boxers of the modern era, afraid of a fight.”
Pacquiao, an eight-weight world champion widely regarded as one of the greatest fighters ever, most recently fought in July last year when he beat Keith Thurman in a WBA super world welterweight title defence.

Another said: “Dana also said there’s a big boxing announcement to make, probably Pacquiao vs McGregor.”

Conor McGregor makes shock claim he’s ‘boxing Manny Pacquiao in Middle East’

McGregor – who showed off his newly shaved head – has not fought since beating Donald Cerrone, 37, in 40 seconds in January.

But his dream of a three-fight ‘season’ was soon dashed after the coronavirus pandemic halted his new found momentum.
Before winning for the first time in three years, McGregor declared plans to challenge for a boxing world title.
He wanted to rematch Floyd Mayweather, 43, who he lost to on his boxing debut in 2017, as well as revealing negotiations took place to fight Manny Pacquiao, 41.
But just six months later, the Dubliner hung up the gloves after his hopes of facing Khabib Nurmagomedov, 31, took a hit.
It came as Justin Gaethje, 31, won the interim lightweight belt to set up a unification against Khabib, who beat McGregor in 2018.
Despite quitting the UFC following a loss in motivation, White revealed the superstar is interested in ‘fun projects’ they discussed.

He told BT Sport: “I talked to him a couple days ago, not talking about fighting right now.
“We are working on a couple of other fun projects for him, he’s interested, so we’ll see if we can get it done.
“If we do I’ll probably be talking about it after Fight Island.”
On his move into boxing, White added: “We’ll probably have something to announce here soon.
“When it’s time, I’ll let you know, I’m not ready yet. But [it’ll be] in the next couple of weeks.”
Mayweather last November announced online that he was ‘coming out of retirement in 2020’ and would be working with White to do so.

The UFC boss had confirmed the American legend is still eyeing a return to the ring, with the pair holding further talks.
And Mayweather’s southpaw sparring partner Denis Douglin predicted the 50-0 legend is preparing to face left-hander McGregor once again.
Douglin told Vegas Insider this month: “I do think this could happen, I think he’s going to fight UFC guys.
“It’s actually quite interesting because I’m left-handed and McGregor and Khabib are both left-handed.
“So him choosing to spar me, that might be the reason why.
“That’s something someone said to me the other day and I was like, ‘you know what, that makes sense’, so it’s very possible.
“The McGregor fight generated so much money, why not do something like that again or fight another UFC fighter if he’s making millions of dollars?”

Seven UFC fighters who could cross over to boxing after Dana White hinted at big announcement in ‘next couple of weeks’

DANA WHITE hinted he is making an imminent move into boxing with a big announcement to come in ‘the next couple of weeks’.
The UFC president had revealed plans to launch Zuffa Boxing in 2017, before Conor McGregor lost to Floyd Mayweather.

UFC president Dana White is eyeing a move into boxing

And despite the venture since being shelved, White recently told BT Sport: “And we’ll probably have something to announce here soon.
“Yeah [it is in the world of boxing]. When it’s time, I’ll let you know, I’m not ready yet. But [it’ll be] in the next couple of weeks.”
It sparked speculation White could again be preparing to bring some of his UFC stars over to boxing.
Here SunSport takes a look at seven UFC fighters who could swap the cage for the ring.

    Conor McGregor
McGregor, 32, is not the only UFC star to have laced up the gloves – but he’s certainly the most recognised.
His debut ended in a tenth-round defeat against Mayweather, but the ‘money-fight’ saw the Irishman pocket around £80m.
McGregor, who boxed as an amateur until he was 16, had vowed to return to the ring, eyeing a rematch with Mayweather, 43.
He has since hung up the gloves, but even in retirement the southpaw teased a lucrative boxing match against Manny Pacquiao.

    Jorge Masvidal
Masvidal has been credited for possessing one of the best boxing abilities in the UFC.
It was the first sport he took up while achieving success as a street fighter in Miami.
The 35-year-old has a deep routed love for boxing and idolises Panamanian legend Roberto Duran – who walked him out before his win against Nate Diaz last November.
Masvidal, who has one pro boxing win, has shared an interest in lacing up the gloves, previously calling out Mayweather and more recently Canelo Alvarez.

Another heavyweight eyeing a move into the ring is hard-hitter Ngannou, who has won 11 times by KO in 15 wins.
When the 34-year-old first started training aged 22, he wanted to be a boxer but transitioned into MMA as there was more chance to make money.
He told Mike Tyson he still dreams of making his boxing debut, and was linked with facing Dillian Whyte.

Poirier told MMA Junkie in January: “I’d be willing to box him if they wanted to do that.

At one stage White – who became UFC president in 2001 – appeared to have given up on conquering a new domain.
But the 51-year-old is finally set to make his move as he believes he can offer something to the world of boxing.
He told BT Sport: “The world of boxing hasn’t been able to do what I’ve been able to do [in MMA] over the last 20 years.

The world of boxing hasn’t been able to do what I’ve been able to do [in MMA] over the last 20 years.”

“If they can’t do things when the world is normal, you can’t expect them to do things when the world is crazy.

“I peeked under the hood a lot there for the last year. Looked at different things and I said, ‘I don’t know man, I don’t know if this is fixable’.
“Funny enough, since the pandemic I’ve been looking at other options too.
“And we’ll probably have something to announce here soon. Yeah [it is in the world of boxing].
“When it’s time, I’ll let you know, I’m not ready yet. But [it’ll be] in the next couple of weeks.”

White has kept the UFC running thanks to the use of his Fight Island in Abu Dhabi.
He single-handedly calls all the shots on big fights in the organisation and recently gave the green light for best friends turned enemies Jorge Masvidal and Colby Covington to get it on.
In White’s latest event Covington defeated Tyron Woodley via fifth-round TKO in the headline fight.
