Speaking to MMA Junkie, Covington, 33, said: “Make no mistakes – Tyron has a great legacy.
“He was a world champion a couple of times, but he’s past his time. He’s almost 40 years old now.
“He’s 38, 39, and Jake’s taking the right steps and taking the right fights with the right fighters that are kind of at the end of their careers and don’t really have enough gas left in the tank, so it’s sad.
“But they’re doing this on purpose, and I really think Tyron is going out there to take a dive. I think he’s broke.
“He needs the money… It’s going to be a circus, and we know boxing is the most corrupt sport in the world as it is.
“So this little side circus they’re doing with Jake Paul, of course, they’re going to favour his way to make it a work”

The pair, 24 and 39 respectively, took part in a heated face-off at the famous 5th Street Gym in Miami on Thursday.
But the meeting of the duo’s mothers couldn’t have been any more different to their fiery clash.
Amid the rising tensions between their sons, Pamela Ann Stepnick and Deborah Woodley enjoyed a warm embrace outside of the gym.
And the pair even shared a nice hug.
Woodley’s mum is no stranger to embracing her son’s opponents or members of their team.
After The Chosen One submitted Darren Till at UFC 218, she had a long embrace with the Brit backstage.

And she had an emotional moment with Kamaru Usman after The Nigerian Nightmare dethroned her son as welterweight king in March 2019.
Paul is confident he’ll stretch his undefeated record to 4-0 with victory over Woodley, who has never boxed professionally.
But his mum reckons the former UFC star will provide a much tougher test than the opposition he’s faced so far.
She told Fight Hype: “It probably is going to be his toughest fight.”
Stepnick doesn’t want her son to stop boxing after his clash with Woodley and plans to support him whatever he decides to do next.

She said: “Whatever he wants, I’ll support it.”
Despite being out of the win column for close to three years, the hard-hitting Woodley insists he’ll run right through The Problem Child.
He told ESPN: “Easiest fight of my career & biggest purse of my career all in one night.
“Basically, they brought me in to take out the trash.
“Can’t wait to shut this b***h up.

Floyd Mayweather only did ‘push-ups and sit-ups’ in training before beating UFC star Conor McGregor

FLOYD MAYWEATHER claimed ‘push-ups and sit-ups’ were the main source of his training before beating boxing novice Conor McGregor. The ring legend beat UFC star McGregor through ten rounds in 2017, in what was an unprecedented crossover fight.

Mayweather, now 44, was competing for the first time in two years but was not fazed by the knockout power his opponent was showcasing in the cage.
The American gave away some of the opening rounds, taking the occasional left hand or pawing jab, before stepping on the gas and stopping an exhausted McGregor who, despite amateur experience, was boxing as a pro for the first time.
Such was Mayweather’s pre-fight confidence, he insists only the occasional boxing session and some home workouts prepared him to face McGregor in Las Vegas.
He told Drink Champs last year: “For Conor McGregor, I didn’t really train.
“All I did was do push-ups and sit-ups. That’s all I did. Push-ups and sit-ups, box a few times, hit the bag a few times.
“Because, actually, the training camp was in different places.
“I would do a training camp in Vegas a few days. Sometimes I wouldn’t go to the gym for a week.
“I took it serious. Like I said before, I wanted to have some fun in the fight. I wanted to entertain the people.”
Mayweather is coming out of retirement to fight Logan Paul this Sunday in a bout that was originally scheduled for February.
The retired ex-champion had teased a rematch with McGregor and a crossover bout with Khabib Nurmagomedov in a series of Instagram posts.

But instead he will take on the YouTuber, who lost a much-publicised professional fight with online rival KSI last year.
Reports have also suggested a rematch with Manny Pacquiao was in the offering – with a mega deal on the table from Saudi Arabia.
Coronavirus is said to have spelt an end to those plans with Mayweather now insisting he will stick to exhibitions and preserve his 50-0 record.

“I want Tyron Woodley to come to Las Vegas and work with us.”
Woodley, who had his own face-off with the younger Paul brother, said of the training offer: “They just texted me, let’s do it,
“I just talked to him today so for sure, why would I not train with the greatest boxer of all time?
“He’s already my dog and we’ve been talking about training anyway, so for sure. I’m definitely going to take him up on that.”

Gonzalez will be welcomed to the BKFC ring by former Combate Americas flyweight Charisa Sigala, who made her promotional debut in February.
The UFC vet was originally meant to make her debut on May 21 but had her maiden outing pushed back.
Upon announcing her deal with the promotion, Gonzalez said: “I’ve officially signed with [Bare Knuckle Fighting Championships] and I will be fighting in Miami on May 21!.
“I made the biggest sacrifice of my life, packed up everything and moved to Brooklyn, New York permanently to train with the greatest female boxer in the world, [Amanda Serrano].
“I promise to dedicate my life to becoming the next BKFC World Champ and couldn’t be happier to start this new chapter in my life!”
Gonzalez was released from the UFC in 2018 following back-to-back losses to Cynthia Calvillo and Poliana Botelho.

She returned to Invicta FC soon after, where she won four of her last six outings.
BKFC’s acquisition of Gonzalez is the latest in a series of marquee signings of ex-UFC fighters.
Last August, they secured the services of former strawweight and flyweight standout Paige VanZant.
And in April, they snapped up former Ultimate Fighter competitor Rachael Ostovich.
Ostovich is set to make her BKFC debut against VanZant at BKFC 19 on July 23.

The pair, 30 and 27 respectively, have history with one another having shared the octagon in January 2019.
VanZant got the better of the Hawaiian that night, submitting her with a second-round rear-naked choke.
Following the announcement of their rematch, PVZ gave her legion of social media followers a titillating reason to tune in to the fight.
She wrote on Twitter and Instagram: “Come for the boobies, stay for the violence.”
Ostovich, meanwhile, wrote: “It’s a Fight girl summer for meeeeeee.
“Let’s run this back real quick. 👀 See y’all July 23rd.”

“I think after everything where they left the ring and they hugged and all that.
“But things are a little different now. Things are a little different.”

The Irishman suffered a tenth-round TKO defeat to the undefeated Mayweather, who announced his third retirement from the sport after notching his 50th professional victory.
Defeat to the former pound-for-pound king has long irked McGregor, who is adamant he’d get the better of the man formerly known as Pretty Boy second time around.
During an impromptu Twitter Q&A, McGregor said of preparations for a potential rematch: “I’d have people press forward in sparring.
“Especially in the later rounds. A fresh body pressing forward for the last 4 rounds.”
After getting wind of Mike Tyson’s praising of his performance last March, he tweeted: “Thank you, Mike.
“And just know that for the inevitable rematch, with the knowledge I now hold of Floyd’s style, plus under the tutelage of my old school boxing coach, I will crack the puzzle, and I will beat Floyd.
“I promise my life on it.”
Mayweather, 44, is currently gearing up for an eight-round exhibition bout against YouTuber Logan Paul, whom he’ll face in Miami on Monday morning.
McGregor, meanwhile, is preparing for a crucial trilogy fight with Dustin Poirier, who he’ll rematch on July 10 in the main event of UFC 264 in Las Vegas.
