Jake Paul claims he will be Conor McGregor’s BIGGEST payday and reckons fight has ’90 per cent chance’ of happening

JAKE PAUL insists he will be Conor McGregor’s BIGGEST payday and claims there is a ’90 per cent chance’ the fight happens. The YouTuber has continuously pursued a mega-money boxing match with former two-weight UFC champion McGregor.

Conor McGregor has continued to be called out by Jake Paul
He recently revealed talks already underway and feels the Irishman has not got any better offers.
And his hopes of landing his dream fight were heightened when his brother Logan, 26, faced boxing legend Floyd Mayweather, 44, in June.
Paul, 24, told Maxim: “I’m sort of thinking about it one fight at a time.
“Anything is possible after my brother fought Floyd Mayweather. I could fight anybody after this.
“I think there’s a 90 per cent chance of [the McGregor fight] happening.
“That’s the biggest fight that Conor can do. It’d be the biggest payday for him.”
Paul first offered McGregor $50million in January, but that was before the Irishman was knocked out by Dustin Poirier, 32, the man he beat in 2014.
The social media star then watched from cageside at UFC 264 as the trilogy bout ended in chaos.

McGregor, 33, broke his tibia seconds before the end of round one and was beaten by Poirier, 32, by doctor stoppage.
He is now out for six months with a medical suspension but has undergone surgery in Los Angeles.
It leaves Paul, who is 3-0, all by knockout, facing a further wait to fight McGregor.
For now he is focussing on ex-UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley, 39, who he fights on August 29, in his fourth and toughest fight.
Paul said: “He’s very, very dangerous. The power always stays. We’ve seen it with Mike Tyson at [almost] 60 years old.
“He’s hitting heavy bags and knocking them off the chains.
“Tyron Woodley is still explosive and people forget in his last fight, he had Vicente Luque stumbling and wobbling across the cage [before he lost].
“People can say whatever they want, but Tyron’s been boxing and striking five times as long as I have.
    ‘PAY-PER-VIEW STAR’
“This is a big challenge for me and I know that going into it. We’re not taking this fight lightly at all.”
Paul has so far only beaten online rival ‘AnEsonGib’, ex-NBA star Nate Robinson, 37, and retired UFC welterweight Ben Askren, 36.
But he already has hopes of one day challenging Canelo Alvarez, 31, boxing’s pound-for-pound No1.
Paul revealed: “He’s a killer at 168 pounds, but people forget that I naturally walk around at about 205, so there’s a big weight difference.
“There’s a big height advantage. Canelo hasn’t fought someone who has really challenged him in the last couple of fights.
“They’ve all been easy guys who just sort of fall on their ass. I just need to continue on the path that I’m on now.
“Getting experience under my belt, fighting tougher and tougher people as my career goes on, continuing to stay in the gym every single day, and continuing to be the pay-per-view star that I am and selling tens of millions of dollars in pay-per-views.
“At the end of the day, this is a business. If Canelo sees that, he’s going to want to get in on the business.”

Jake Paul claims he’s in talks to fight Conor McGregor and brags “if we do fight, I’m going to knock him out”

JAKE PAUL has claimed he is in talks to fight UFC superstar Conor McGregor – and has vowed to ‘knock him out’.The YouTube star has won all three of his professional boxing bouts so far and is set to take on former UFC champion Tyron Woodley on August 29.

McGregor broke his leg during defeat to Dustin Poirier earlier this month
And while Paul is focused on his fourth pro fight in one month’s time, he has also been talking up the possibility of a McGregor clash.
The American has been trash talking the 33-year-old Irishman for a long time in an attempt to goad him into the ring.
And he has now said that discussions are beginning to take place about the pair getting it on.
Speaking to The Herd with Colin Cowherd, he said: “I think it will happen. Look, I mean, I’m the money fight for Conor McGregor right now.
“There is no other fighter right now who is on a bigger level than me that is calling out Conor McGregor and wants to fight Conor.
“Our team is in touch with his team and there’s talks of it actually happening. And people at first thought I was just joking when I said I wanted to fight him.
“But now it’s as real as it gets, it’s more real than ever and by the way, if we do fight, I’m going to knock him out.”

The former two-weight world champion broke his leg at the end of the first round, with a doctor’s stoppage handing Poirier the win.
It is the second time McGregor has lost to Poirier in just six months following his second round KO loss back in January.
Since returning to the octagon after facing legendary boxer Floyd Mayweather in 2017, McGregor has lost three of his four MMA fights.
He was forced to submit against Khabib Nurmagomedov back in 2018, before returning 15 months later to knockout Donald Cerrone in just 40 seconds.
However, another year out the ring has been followed up by two defeats to Poirier.
While talk of a McGregor-Paul clash rumbles on, UFC president Dana White has insisted the Irishman will get another crack at Poirier due to the circumstances of the stoppage.
Speaking after the trilogy, the UFC boss said: “It sucks, it’s brutal. It’s not the way you want to see fights end. Dustin Poirier will fight for the title.
“And when Conor is healed and ready to go, you do the rematch I guess. I don’t know.”

Paul faces ex-UFC champion Woodley, 39, on Sunday, August 29 in his fourth and most challenging fight to date.
And he feels it will prove more difficult than fighting McGregor, 33, who the social media star outweighs by a massive two and a half stone.
Paul said: “Conor, I think the fame, the money has got to his head, he’s lost that fighters edge, that motivation. And look, he’s a smaller guy.
“He’s 5-what-8? He’s 155-pounds, Tyron Woodley is a 200-pound, massive, explosive guy, so he’s a lot more dangerous fighter than Conor McGregor.”
Paul is 3-0 in his boxing career but has so far beaten only limited opposition since his January 2020 debut.

Jake Paul’s coach warns Tyron Woodley is ‘in way over his head’ and offers ex-boxing champ Shawn Porter ‘friendly wager’

JAKE PAUL’S coach warned Tyron Woodley is ‘in way over his head’ – and will offer Shawn Porter a ‘friendly wager’ to prove it. Paul faces the ex-UFC welterweight in his fourth and most challenging fight to date, on Sunday, August 29 in the YouTuber’s home of Cleveland.

Former welterweight champion Shawn PorterCredit: Ryan Hafey
Former boxing champion Porter, 33, has seen Woodley training in boxing gyms before and backed the American to win.
He told DAZN: “Unlike a lot of the guys in the UFC and the MMA game Woodley really, really has worked on his hands for a number of years.
“I’ve walked into plenty of boxing gyms and just saw him in there training.
“So I mean, it’s no secret if you watch him in the UFC, you’ve seen that he’s pretty decent with his hands.
“And with that being said, if you want a prediction, I do expect Tyron Woodley to handle the business, to represent for combat sports, because the UFC is a combat sport now.
“But I find it hard to see Jake Paul beating a true fighter and I know Tyron, I think he was stopped in one of his last fights.
“And I know it’s been a little bit of time since he fought too, but I just can’t see that one, man.
“I can’t see Jake Paul getting the upper hand over Tyron Woodley.”

Despite Porter’s prediction, Paul’s head trainer BJ Flores, a retired cruiserweight, is willing to bet otherwise.
Flores, 42, said to BoxingScene: “This is one of those situations where a lot of ‘experts’ are going to pick Tyron coming in.
“Tyron was a very polished UFC champion for a long  period of time and he will be an excellent candidate for the Hall of Fame when he becomes eligible.
“However, Tyron has greatly underestimated Jake and very early on it will be a biohazard.  Tyron is in way over his head on August 29.
“Every single day, we are perfecting the necessary tools to take Tyron into the deep waters and drown him.
How Jake Paul and Tyron Woodley compare ahead of their boxing match
“We are ready today, tomorrow, next week. It doesn’t matter. Shawn and I can make a friendly wager to make this more interesting.”
Woodley, 39, reigned the UFC’s welterweight division from 2016-2018 before being dethroned by current champ Kamaru Usman, 33.
But he is still without a win since, losing four in a row before leaving the UFC to pursue boxing.
Paul, 24, comes into the fight 3-0 all by knockout but has so far faced limited opposition.
That includes against online rival ‘AnEsonGib’, ex-NBA star Nate Robinson, 37, and retired UFC welterweight Ben Askren, 36, a renowned grappler.

Paige VanZant loses rematch against ex-UFC rival Rachael Ostovich in brutal bare-knuckle boxing bout

PAIGE VANZANT was beaten by former UFC rival Rachael Ostovich when they fought again under brutal bare-knuckle boxing rules. The two ex-MMA stars headlined Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship and put on a thrilling show over the frantic five, two-minute rounds.

But it was Ostovich – defeated by VanZant in the UFC two years ago – who was awarded the verdict on the judges scorecards.
She said: “It’s been a long time, two and a half years since the last time we’ve been in the cage.
“No different, still sport but I still felt Page VanZant fought her heart out. A round of applause, show some respect.”
VanZant, 27, started out the aggressor in the opening round coming forward and even landed a heavy-looking right hand.
But as the pair began to find their range early on, lots of clinching led to dirty boxing on the inside.
In the second round, it was contested largely at range but Ostovich, 30, began to look more comfortable.
It set the American up for a big third round, where her right hand could barley miss over the top.
A combination towards the end put Ostovich in the driving seat heading into the second half of the fight, where her right proved decisive.

In the fourth, one counter overhand towards the end of the round landed flush on VanZant, who was forced to grab and hold.
Ostovich continued the pressure in the final round landing the cleaner shots, despite PVZ’s determination.
VanZant’s aggression opened her up for counters coming in, and left the judges with no doubt who the winner was.
Two scored it 48-47 in favour of Ostovich and one 49-46, giving the Hawaiian the perfect BKFC debut.
For VanZant, she is now 0-2 in bare-knuckle, having lost her debut to Britain Hart, 31, in February.

According to ESPN, the fight has been approved by the California State Athletic Commission.
But it is subject to De La Hoya, 48, and and Belfort, 44, passing comprehensive medical testing for 40-year-old-plus fighters.
It includes an MRA and MRI of the brain, an EKG, cardiac testing, neurocognitive testing and an ophthalmologic exam.
The bout will be contested over eight two-minute rounds, despite regular pro boxing being fought over three-minute rounds.
It will also be at 180 pounds, but De La Hoya and Belfort can weigh within five pounds of the limit.
Triller will promote the event as part of their ‘Fight Club’ banner, which has also featured YouTuber Jake Paul, 24, and Mike Tyson, 55, previously.
But the brains behind the operation, Hollywood film producer Ryan Kavanaugh, was keen to move away from exhibition bouts.
He said: “It’s important to transition from exhibitions.

“This is as real as any fight Oscar or Belfort has had, not some staged wrestling event.”

But after watching Tyson come out of retirement after 15 years, later drawing in an exhibition with Roy Jones Jr, 52, it inspired De La Hoya.

Khabib AGREES to stunning UFC comeback to avenge Islam Makhachev if protege loses to Rafael dos Anjos says Brazilian

Rafael dos Anjos believes Khabib will return to face him once he beats Makhachev
Khabib, 32, announced that fight would be his last following the death of his father in July 2020.
But it seems the former UFC lightweight world champion could make a sensational return to the Octogan.
Brazilian dos Anjos, 36, has claimed he will fight Khabib if he defeats Islam Makhachev, 29.
Dos Anjos tweeted that the UFC has confirmed his five-round bout with Makhachev, due to take place in Abu Dhabi on October 30.
He wrote: “I just heard back from the UFC that Islam (Makhachev) accepted to fight me Oct 30 5 rounds in Abu Dhabi and Khabib agreed to come out of retirement to avenge his brother’s loss after that.”
Makhachev is a close friend and protege of Khabib’s and is seeking to emulate his compatriot and training partner.
And he has been tipped to follow in Khabib’s footsteps by fighting and defeating Connor McGregor.
Currently, he is ranked fifth in the lightweight rankings, two places above dos Anjos.

The pair have been waiting to face one another for some time, with two previous scheduled meetings cancelled due to Covid-19 and illness to Makhachev.
However, neither the UFC nor Khabib has acknowledged the agreement dos Anjos has announced, so for now the former champion is still out of action.
UFC chief Dana White has expressed his desire to see Khabib back in the UFC, but he may take some persuading.
