Just hours after beating Woodley, Paul took to Twitter to reveal he was hanging up his gloves.
The YouTuber simply wrote: “Updated status: Retired boxer.”
Paul won his fourth professional fight in the early hours of Monday morning after a split decision that the judges scored 77-75, 79-74, 75-77.
After a cagey first three rounds, the fight burst into life in the fourth as Woodley finally went on the offensive.
Things settled back down again towards the end of the eight rounds and the judges declared Paul the winner.
Despite winning, Paul was rocked and hurt for the first time in his ‘boxing career’ in the fourth round.

With a minute to go, the 39-year-old stepped in and went swinging toward his opponent.
Woodley, the shorter of the two men, crashed a huge right hook into Paul’s head.
The much-maligned Paul was stunned and fell back into the ropes and struggled to keep himself upright but thankfully for him Woodley decided to wave his arm around to get the crowd going instead of landing another blow.
That allowed Paul to catch his breath and recover to see out the remaining 40 seconds of the round.
As viewers watched the event, fans rushed to Twitter to accuse the bout of being rigged.
One fan wrote: “No one can tell me this isn’t fixed. Woodley is barely throwing, he could throw and end this at any time.”
Another added: “Got the feeling Woodley was told not to knock him out. This game is fixed. Fingers crossed for the [Tommy] Fury fight as that’s a different ball game completely.”
A third tweeted: “This is such a frustrating fight. Woodley walking him down then just standing in front of him not throwing a punch. This has gotta be fixed.”

Whether the match was faked or not, Paul claimed he really won by scoring a £72m paycheck.
The social media star took to Instagram on Monday to pat himself on the back for the hefty cash reward following the match.
In an Instagram story video to his 17million followers, he captioned it with: “When you get 10 per cent closer to becoming a billionaire.”
The fight was the second-biggest selling pay-per-view of the year behind his brother Logan’s match with Floyd Mayweather.
Despite his claims of earning £72m, reports suggest Paul could have pulled in far less than a nine-figure amount.
Sportingfree.com guessed the former YouTuber may actually have earned only around $2m from the fight including its pay-per-view income.

But fans have questioned the contest with many claiming the fight was fixed as they argued that Woodley was told to NOT knock Paul out.
And MMA welterweight Diaz has had his say on the pair’s clash, as he tweeted: “These guys both suck.”
His comments got back to Paul, who was asked what he thought of Diaz’s view in his post-fight press conference.
He said: “Another loser talking up. Of course he wants a payday. I’m one of the money fighters now in boxing.
“The guy’s got a chin, but he doesn’t land punches. That fight’s there, no problem.
“Thank you for the attention, thank you for watching me. I appreciate it, fanboy.”

It wasn’t just Diaz that took aim at Paul, as two-weight world champion Conor McGregor tweeted he is ‘salivating’ at the prospect of facing him.
And Paul, who has declared he has retired from boxing, responded to his tweet in his press conference, as he remarked: “I’m salivating too because I’m just getting warmed up.
“Conor McGregor has a lot more to focus on besides me right now.

“I’m five wins in a row, he’s one in three in the past four years so he needs to get off his vodka or whatever his brand is, sober up and get back in the gym then we can f***ing fight.
“There’s no way he hits harder than Woodley, he doesn’t weigh as much as Woodley, he’s shorter than Woodley.
“I said it before the fight, I think Woodley is a harder fight than him, especially on the weight he is going – Conor is going down, I’m going up.”

The YouTuber told Showtime Sports: “A lot of young fighters get sucked into long fight contracts by promoters and then they become a star and the promoters take all their money.

“First, we need the sports to become more popular. More fans, more audience which will naturally put more revenue across the board. I think also voicing it.”
Easiest sparring sessionMichael Bisping on fighting Jake Paul
Paul, 24, who has reinvented himself as a prizefighter, has been challenged to a future professional boxing bout by UFC hero Michael Bisping.
And the MMA legend reckons taking on the popular YouTube star in the ring would be the ‘easiest sparring session’.
Paul landed a three-punch combination on Woodley in the opening round of the bout in his US hometown of Cleveland, Ohio.
And the YouTuber was on the receiving end of some powerful right-hand jabs from his ex-UFC welterweight opponent in the third round
This followed a testing second round which saw the social media star at times on the back foot.
Paul then took the fight to Woodley landing a right uppercut before the UFC specialist connected with a big right hand.

And that punishing blow saw the vlogger stagger into ropes
Both fighters appeared to be tiring by the sixth round with Paul ending the round with a hand over the top.
And following the announcement of a split decision the YouTuber was declared the winner picking up his fourth pro boxing victory to date.

The YouTuber was stunned and fell back into the ropes, struggling to keep himself upright.

That allowed Paul to catch his breath and recover to see out the remaining 40 seconds of the round.

And this seemed to be the main reason fans thought Woodley had been told NOT to knock Paul out, with The Mail publishing several angry tweets.
Rae Marie wrote: “No one can tell me this isn’t fixed. Woodley is barely throwing, he could throw and end this at any time.”
Luke added: “Got the feeling Woodley was told not to knock him out. This game is fixed. Fingers crossed for the [Tommy] Fury fight as that’s a different ball game completely.”

And Hentai chipped in with: “Jake got decked so badly in round four that he was never the same.
“Here he is 30 minutes after the punch, still in pain and red all over his face. Woodley proceeded to walk him around the ring like a long walk on the beach.

Paul beat Woodley via split decision in Ohio.
The judges scored it 77-75, 79-74, 75-77 in Paul’s favour.
And focus soon switched to what the 24-year-old would do next.
Online personality Paul initially hinted he would duck the Fury fight and take a break from boxing.
But soon after he was clashing with the Brit backstage and calling for the fight to be staged.
However, it appears Tommy’s dad John is not keen on the idea – judging by footage of the 57-year-old that has surfaced online.

And as the camera zooms in, the veteran fighter and coach is seen looking tense and angry.
Reaction to the footage online was mixed.
Muzz tweeted: “Watching the post fight conferences is infuriating. Jake won’t fight Tommy.
“He’ll say it’s because he doesn’t have the clout or he doesn’t rate him as a boxer. Though the real reason is because Tommy IS an actual boxer.”
Joe wrote: “I’d follow an entire channel based on John’s hateful reaction.”
And Crabby said: “Good analysis tonight! Enjoy watching you on the big screen.”
Paul, who moved to 4-0 with the biggest win of his career, was quizzed about fighting Fury next.
He argued Woodley is the tougher opponent but left the door open to an all-celebrity bout with Fury.
Paul said: “Will we see that fight? I would run that s*** easy. That’s an easier fight than Tyron in my opinion.
“But who knows? But sorry, like, people are like, ‘Oh, he’s a real boxer. Fight a real boxer’. OK, maybe, maybe let’s run it. OK, ‘real boxer’.”
Fury was labelled ‘ass’ and ‘not very good’ by UFC legends Daniel Cormier and Dillon Danis after his win.

Speaking after the fight, the former UFC world champ said: “I’ll be honest I want to jump in there with him after seeing that tonight.
“Look at all the hype, people are going crazy for him, you’ve got to admit it was a pretty enjoyable event and quite the spectacle if I’m honest.
“So yeah, listen I was watching, my God this is easy work. You want to throw some cash at me Jake, I’ll do it.
“I’m only joking – but I’m a little bit serious because I’m like man this is the easiest sparring session of my life.
“But Jake’s got a ton of options, tons of options. A lot of people would fight him, because he’s very beatable.”
Tommy Fury – who beat former MMA star Anthony Taylor on Paul’s undercard – called the YouTuber a ‘bum’ and demanded a fight with him again.
    ‘HE’S VERY BEATABLE’
But Bisping thinks it’s too much of a risk for Paul.
He added: “He’s very beatable. You mentioned there Tommy Fury, I don’t even think they’d take that fight.
“They want someone that’s big, that’s a marquee kind of pay-per-view draw but somebody that’s at the end of their career that isn’t really going to pose too much of a threat.
“And for that reason, you know damn well they ain’t going to call me.”
Speaking after the contest, Paul was asked what’s next and said: “Honestly, we’ll see. I’ve been boxing for 18 months now.
“I haven’t been to the dentist, I barely got my hair cut in the last two years.
Two judges gave the fight to Jake Paul but Phil Rogers backed Tyron Woodley
“My teeth are crooked, my nose is crooked. I’ve dedicated the last 18 months to this. I haven’t stopped,
“I think I might need to chill out for a second and figure out who I am. I’m only 24, I’m changing, I’m growing, I’m learning a lot.
“I’m going through ups and downs and I’m making mistakes. But I’m keeping my head straight and we’ll see.”
