    GREALISH SPEAKS

Grealish also made his debut this evening and shared his thoughts on his first game for English.

The Aston Villa forward said: “I was emotional coming on. Every child in England dreams of playing for England and I feel so privileged coming on, it’s a shame we couldn’t get the win but I want to thank Gareth for giving me the opportunity- I just hope it’s the first of many.

“It’s a brilliant moment for myself and my family, certainly one of the best days in my career so far.”

When pushed on his effort inside the box, as soon as he came on, Grealish added: “I’m a bit gutted to be honest, when I went on that little run during my first involvement I should have pulled the trigger.

“It’s different to Villa, as maybe I have more chemistry with my team-mates as I play with them more regularly.

“I tried to cross it when I could have pulled the trigger, but I didn’t want to seem too selfish.”

Watch Cristiano Ronaldo score stunning double vs Sweden to surpass 100 Portugal goals as he closes in on world record

CRISTIANO RONALDO reached a century of international goals in sensational style as Portugal beat Sweden in the Nations League.
The Portuguese superstar struck a stunning double to notch his 100th and 101st strikes for his country… and move within eight of a world record.

Ronaldo, 35, was left stranded on 99 for an agonising ten months during football’s Covid-19 shutdown.
And it looked like he would have to wait even longer before reaching the landmark due to injury when he was ruled out of Saturday’s clash with Croatia.
The Juventus hitman was absent from training on Thursday with a toe injury and was subsequently left out of that 4-1 win.
That left him in a race against time to make tonight’s away trip to Sweden.

But the ex-Manchester United forward was passed fit and he ensured he marked the occasion by becoming a centurion.
And he did it in his usual stunning fashion.
After Swede Gustav Svensson was dismissed for a second yellow card on the stroke of half-time, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner strode up to slam a right-footed effort from the free-kick straight into the top corner.

And it got even better for the star on 72 minutes as he pulled the trigger again with an even more impressive strike from outside the box to double his team’s advantage and seal the 2-0 win.
Ronaldo’s first goal for his country came way back at Euro 2004 during a 2-1 group stage loss to eventual winners Greece.
And with his strike tonight being his first for Portugal in 2020, he has now scored an international goal in SEVENTEEN successive calendar years.

    🇵🇹 Cristiano Ronaldo has scored his 100th international goal – has now scored for Portugal in 17 successive calendar years2004 72005 22006 62007 52008 12009 12010 32011 72012 52013 102014 52015 32016 132017 112018 62019 142020 1 pic.twitter.com/cbOpo3mGdM

He is now only the second man ever to achieve the feat of 100 goals for his country.
But he is still nine short of becoming the all-time top scorer at international level.
Iran’s legendary Ali Daei holds that accolade with an incredible 109 goals in 149 caps.

Darren Fletcher says Cristiano Ronaldo became the player he is thanks to former Man Utd No2 Walter Smith More

Kieran Trippier shows horror black eye vs Denmark after sickening clash of heads with England team-mate Danny Ings

POOR Kieran Trippier was patched up and out of position as England took a pasting on social media for toiling against Denmark.
The right-footed Atletico Madrid star was fielded at left-wing back despite a horrible black eye from a training-ground collision with squad-mate Danny Ings.

    — Darz 🇻🇨 (@_Darz94) September 8, 2020

And as the Three Lions struggled to impress in Copenhagen, many armchair fans focused on Trippier’s wince-inducing injury.
One said: “Tripper with the dirtiest black eye” – followed by three crying-with-laughter emojis.
But it was the ex-Spurs defender playing on the left of three centre-backs that stunned supporters even more.

This post typified such frustration: “@England being played off the park by Denmark ffs. What even is this lineup, entirely relying on TAA and Trippier for the creativity. I thought England had finally found some ball playing midfielders.”

Ings, who was again on the subs’ bench, had collided with Trippier on Monday in what should have been a simple speed-off-the-mark practice routine.
Instead they were both pole-axed, neither moving until receiving treatment.

I’m not even watching this England game. Tells you everything! Not enough hours in the day for me to hear Martin Tyler, trippier at left back and 3 at the back against Denmark! No thanks 👋
    — Saeed ✨ (@Realist_187) September 8, 2020

And judging by the reaction to a goalless first period against the Danes, many supporters at home were similarly motionless – falling asleep as the Three Lions plodded along with little flair.
But one fan revealed admitted he had taken preventive action.

He posted: “I’m not even watching this England game. Tells you everything! Not enough hours in the day for me to hear Martin Tyler, trippier at left back and 3 at the back against Denmark! No thanks.” More

Phil Foden and Mason Greenwood ‘tried to sneak FOUR girls into England hotel’ in Covid-19 breach shame

PHIL FODEN and Mason Greenwood tried to sneak FOUR girls back to England’s hotel, according to the latest reports on the pair’s Covid-19 breach shame.
England boss Gareth Southgate chucked the youngsters out of the national team camp after they celebrated their Three Lions debuts by breaking strict coronavirus guidelines.

    9

Lara Clausen joined her cousin in sneaking into the hotel – but at least four girls are said to have been asked
Icelandic beauties Nadia Sif Lindal Gunnarsdottir, 20, and Lara Clausen, 19, hung out with the footballers after being invited into the England hotel.
But MailOnline claim that Foden, 20, and Greenwood, 18, had been chatting up at least four local ladies ahead of landing in Reykjavik.
Anita Gunnarsdottir was filmed chatting to the players with a friend but insists she did not venture to the hotel.
    WHAT WE KNOW SO FAR

She is quoted as saying: “I didn’t meet them. I’m not one of the girls who went to the hotel.”
Leaked Snapchat clips showed the stars, who ply their club trade with Manchester City and Manchester United, hosting Nadia and Lara after England’s 1-0 win over Iceland.
At one point, City playmaker Foden flashed his bum at the girls, who did not enter the national team’s secure Covid-19 bubble.
The rule breach earned both players a £1,360 fine from local police, with further punishment expected from club and country.

Southgate dismissed the pair on Monday morning, barring them from breakfast and training with the squad before they boarded a flight home.

Nadia took to Instagram to spell out her defence
Foden and Greenwood are expected to become Three Lions mainstays for years to come after their first outing in the Nations League, yet could be banned for the next FOUR internationals.
Sent home on a private jet last night, the apologetic stars were subject to scathing statements from both City and United, as well as England.
The FA condemned their “unacceptable breach of our protocol” and “serious lack of judgement” ahead of a full investigation.
Meanwhile, Manchester City described Foden’s action as “totally inappropriate” with United “disappointed” in striker Greenwood.
Foden vowed to learn from the “valuable lesson” of his “poor behaviour”.
After deleting his Twitter account, Greenwood apologised on Tuesday for his “irresponsible” actions.

TELEPHONE CONVERSATION BETWEEN STARS AND BABES

Foden: ‘Say that again, what was you saying?’
    Girl: ‘What’s the plan?’
    Foden: ‘What’s the plan?’
    Girl: ‘Mhmm’
    Foden: ‘Mason what’s the plan?’
    Greenwood: ‘Depends what you want’
Foden: ‘He says depends what do you want?’
Girl: ‘We can come to the hotel but I don’t know how you’re going to sneak us in’
Foden: ‘What you coming to the hotel for?’
    Greenwood: ‘What do you think?’
    Foden: ‘What does she want?’
Girl: ‘Yeah, what do you think bro?’
Girl: [Speaks In Icelandic to her friend]
Greenwood and Foden: ‘Discussing. Hard to tell what they are saying.’
Foden: ‘Have you got a mate?’
    Girl: What?
    Foden: ‘Your friend?’
    Girl: ‘Yeah’

In a statement released via United’s website, he wrote: “It was irresponsible of me to break the COVID-19 protocols which are in place to protect players, staff and the public.
“In particular, I want to apologise to Gareth Southgate, for letting him down, when he had shown great trust in me.
“Playing for England was one of the proudest moments in my life and I only have myself to blame for this huge mistake.

    9

Lara and her pal headed into an area of the hotel separate from the England camp

    9

Nadia admitted to the “mess” that the quartet have found themselves in

“I promise my family, the fans, Manchester United and England that this is a lesson I will learn from.”
Beauty queen Gunnarsdottir has confirmed that she had been texting the United ace for a couple of days before his arrival in Iceland.
She admitted to having “messed up” but defended the players, along with Clausen, her cousin, who described them as “such gentlemen”.

And the incident left Good Morning Britain host Morgan fuming, branding the pair “Covidiots”.
He said on Tuesday’s show: “They’re young men who knew the rules… why was there not enough security to protect them for themselves?”
“They’re living the dream for teenagers and young people.
“And now they’re going to miss their first game because they have to be shamed.”

    He added: “They’re Covidiots.”
Both Foden, 20, and Greenwood, 18, have apologised for their rule breach – with fresh reports claiming they asked FOUR girls to come back to their hotel.
    WHAT WE KNOW SO FAR
The pair were filmed with Nadia Sif Lindal Gunnarsdottir, 20, and Lara Clausen, 19, in footage that was leaked to the Icelandic media.

With the Three Lions set to ban both stars for four games, Morgan was left wondering how they were able to sneak the girls in to start with.
He earlier tweeted: “Their selfish reckless stupidity is bad, obviously.
“But how were they able to do this?

    4

Nadia’s cousin, Laura Clausen, defended the footballers as “gentlemen”

“Footballers need babysitting – by security guards – to protect them from themselves.”
With both Manchester City and United releasing statements condemning their academy products, some have defended Foden and Greenwood in their actions.
Former City and England winger Trevor Sinclair hopes the focus is on allowing the duo to learn from their mistakes.
He tweeted: “Boys will be boys. Let’s not destroy our own young players. Learn and be better, end of.”

Watch Erling Haaland score wondergoal and celebrate like childhood hero Michu in Norway’s 5-1 win vs Northern Ireland

ERLING HAALAND showed he is matching Borussia Dortmund strike-partner Jadon Sancho all the way – as his spectacular double led Norway’s 5-1 rout of Northern Ireland.
And if the two super-starlets are learning from each other, then Haaland is also copying his childhood hero Michu – cupping one ear as he ran off to salute his extra-special first goal.

    2

Norway’s two-goal hero Erling Haaland showed why he is rated as one of the world’s top young strikersCredit: Reuters
The 20-year-old aped ex-Swansea frontman Michu after a seventh-minute strike that highlighted his astonishing instincts from seemingly any sight of the net.
Despite the ball coming across to him on the right of the penalty area D, Haaland still struck an instant 25-yard left-footer into the opposite corner.
Not surprisingly, he was linked with compatriot Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Manchester United before leaving RB Salzburg in January this year to blitz goal records for Dortmund.
And now it is club-mate Sancho who is United’s top long-term target.

But at least for the moment the same-aged duo are giving their German team 20:20 vision in front of goal.
So Dortmund must be hoping to mount a serious challenge to Bayern Munich’s Bundesliga dominance.
But sadly for Northern Ireland on Monday night it was Norway who dictated at Windsor Park.

Mohamed Elyounoussi’s opener was cancelled out by Middlesbrough midfielder Paddy McNair before Haaland restored Norway’s lead in a breathtaking start.
Crystal Palace forward Alexander Sorloth, now on loan at Trabzonspor, made it 3-1 on 19 minutes.
Then Haaland and Sorloth completed the thrashing by the hour mark. More

How England could line up vs Denmark without Mason Greenwood and Phil Foden after shamed pair were sent home

KALVIN PHILLIPS is set for his England debut in Tuesday night’s Nations League clash with Denmark in Copenhagen after shamed starlets Mason Greenwood and Phil Foden were sent home.
Leeds midfielder Phillips, 24, was a surprise inclusion in the squad after never playing in the Premier League but could now play in the centre alongside Declan Rice.

    What we know so far:
Three Lions’ boss Gareth Southgate was already planning on making changes from Saturday’s 1-0 in Iceland even before weekend debutants Greenwood and Foden breached coronavirus guidelines by inviting two girls to their hotel.
Both have apologised but Southgate said: “Two guys have broken the covid guidelines in terms of our secure bubble and so we had to decide very quickly they could not have any interaction with the team and could not travel to training.
“Given the procedures we have to follow they will have to travel back separately.”

Wolves skipper Conor Coady, 27, is poised for his first England game – as part of a three-man central defence alongside Eric Dier and Joe Gomez.
Trent Alexander-Arnold will start as right wing-back, with Southgate facing a choice down the left between Kieran Trippier and Ainsley Maitland-Niles, who is also hoping for a first run-out.

The Three Lions could, though, stick with the front three of Harry Kane, Jadon Sancho and Raheem Sterling.
In fact, Denmark boss Kasper  Hjulmand is too preoccupied with Sterling and Sancho to get excited about the  controversy over Manchester City midfielder Foden and United striker Mason Greenwood.

Hjulmand said: “They will have another couple of very good players on the pitch, so it doesn’t change too much.
“We are up against a very strong English team with very skilful young players and also Sterling and Sancho on the wing.

“They are very offensively-minded and like to take control of matches.“But that leaves some space for us as well.”
Danish midfielder Thomas Delaney plays with Sancho at Borussia Dortmund.
He said: “I see him as  one of the biggest talents  in Europe.”
