      Eagle-eyed fans spot huge controversy in Newcastle’s penalty shootout win over Blackburn in FA Cup

      STUNNED viewers claim Blackburn were robbed in Newcastle’s FA Cup shootout triumph – after spotting a major controversy.Keen-eyed fans are convinced Toon’s hero keeper Martin Dubravka was off his line before foiling Dom Hyam from the very last penalty.

      Supporters were especially frustrated because the FA Cup does NOT have VAR for ties played in non-Premier League stadiums – meaning no video replays could settle the issue.
      The mediocre Magpies scraped into the quarter-finals 4-3 on spot-kicks after Championship side Rovers deservedly held them 1-1 after extra time.
      But fans rushed to point out what they believe was a lucky let-off for Dubravka – worsened by the “unfairness” of having no VAR.
      The Slovak, who earlier saved Sammie Szmodics’ shootout penalty, dived low to repeat the feat from Hyam’s low effort.

      But fans posted clips of the stopper with both his feet appearing to be in front of the line before Rovers’ Scottish defender took his kick.
      If true, that means the penalty should have been retaken – giving Blackburn another chance to take the spot-kicks to sudden death.
      One wrote: “Dubravka was off his line when Hyam’s penalty was being taken. If it had VAR involved it would’ve been retaken.”
      Another said: “Would have been quite funny if Newcastle had been denied victory by Dubravka coming off his line for the first time all season.”

      BBC viewers were left baffled while watching the broadcaster’s coverage of Blackburn and Newcastle’s FA Cup game. A pitchside microphone picked up audio of an odd request from a fan.

      Roughly 13 minutes and 45 seconds into the game a fan could be heard appearing to shout a finger-fuelled request.
      The fan could be heard shouting a name before yelling: “Show us your fingers!”
      One said: “BBC need to sort this sound out! Really struggling to hear commentary, apart from ‘show us your fingers’ 🤔😂.”
      A second said: “A Blackburn fan shouting ‘SHOW US YA FINGERS’ being picked up on the BBC microphones is the true magic of the FA Cup.”

      While a third added: “Did I just hear correct on BBC that someone in the crowd shouted ‘Giz a look at your fingers’?”
      The game between Blackburn and Newcastle was delayed by 15 minutes as fans struggled to get into the stadium.
      It was then stopped around 15 minutes into the match as the home support threw tennis balls on the pitch from the Ronnie Clayton stand.
      The move appeared to be directed in protest against Blackburn’s owners.

      He was joined by Gary Lineker and Micah Richards in the studio for the game.
      This had viewers with a dilemma considering ITV’s own panel of pundits.
      Newcastle went into the quarters after a penalty shootout win.

      GENNADY GOLOVKIN appears to have confirmed his retirement from boxing after taking a prestigious job.The two-time unified middleweight champion is the new president of Kazakhstan’s National Olympic Committee.

      The boxer, 41, took to X to confirm the news.
      He wrote: “I would like to express my sincere gratitude for everyone for all those warm wishes I am receiving all day on my election as NOC Kazakhstan President.
      “I am more than happy to represent my country in the global Olympic Movement.”
      ‘GGG’ has never confirmed his retirement from boxing but has not fought since 2022.

      His last fight was a defeat at the end of his trilogy with Canelo Alvarez.
      Triple G looked a shadow of his former self on the night.
      In a further indication that he will leave boxing behind for good, he was ordered to defend his IBF middleweight title in February last year against Esquiva Falcao but opted to vacate his title rather than defend it.

      “I think at 168, he was 160 for a long time. I think part of Gennady Golovkin is like ‘look, I don’t want to fight [Esquiva] Falcao, I don’t want to fight [Erislandy] Lara, so I don’t need the belts. My name carries enough value.'”
      Golovkin also insisted prior to his defeat to Canelo that he would not retire regardless of the result.

      The Match of the Day host said: “Sorry to hear that Stan Bowles has died. A delightful footballer and hugely charismatic man.

      Bowles played 315 times for QPR and scored 97 goals between 1972 and 1979.

      The club paid tribute to Bowles, saying: “It is with a heavy heart we have learned that QPR icon Stan Bowles sadly passed away this evening, aged 75.

      Before the match, he was spotted discussing positions with Eden Hazard and talking tactics with former Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger.
      He then caught flack from fans during the match for a dreadful challenge on Kaka.

      He was handed a yellow card by the referee and was quick to show his disapproval – even though many thought it was a clear RED.
