Barton said women commentating on men’s football was the same as him “talking about knitting or netball” – and called those who disagreed with him “eunuchs” and “fart parcels”.
He then defended his comments on Piers Morgan Uncensored on TalkTV last night- and said England and Arsenal footballer Alex Scott is not qualified enough to speak on men’s football.
Last night Scott spoke out on Twitter while sharing an article which sees her speak about her charity work.
She wrote: “Only thing I want to give oxygen to today on this platform & raise my voice to right now is this article below and how I’m so honoured to have spent the day yesterday with Refuge Charity who continue to do such incredible vital work for women & children.”

It comes after she laughed off Barton’s comments in an Instagram story.
During her footy career Scott won eight league titles, three WSL Cups and seven FA Cups.
Scott also won the Champions League once, and two Community Shields.
But last night when quizzed about her commentating Barton said: “She hasn’t played in it”.

“One is 200 years old and one is about 40 years old… it’s the same rules but football is about a lot more than rules… The games are at two different speeds,” he said in his rant.
Barton said it was the same as him commentating on Formula One just because he can drive a car.
He went on to say that great commentators would be overlooked if we were bowing down to tokenism.
The controversial star’s comments have received a huge backlash after the former Bristol Rovers boss said he does not think women pundits should be allowed to comment on the men’s game.
Barton tweeted: “Women shouldn’t be talking with any kind of authority in the men’s game. Come on. Let’s be serious.
“It’s a completely different game. If you don’t accept that. We will always see things differently.
“The women’s game is thriving. Fantastic to see.
“I cannot take a thing they say serious in the men’s arena.”
TNT Sports presenter Laura Woods slammed Barton’s comments in a Twitter post.
She said: “Usually avoid these conversations as I don’t like adding more oxygen.
“But throwing young vloggers to the wolves is wrong.
“I started my career vlogging and I’ve always got on with Joey. He also sent me a lovely good luck message for TNT in June.
“Does that make him a eunuch too?

“Joey’s entitled to his opinion. If he feels that strongly about women in the men’s game he could ask for a private conversation with the broadcasters & state his case.

Barton, 41, tonight defended his comments on Piers Morgan Uncensored on TalkTV.
However, he was then slammed by Bianca Westwood.
She said: “Who is qualified to speak on football then? I’ve been watching football for 40 years, my first game at West Ham was before Joey was even born.
    MORE ON BARTON
“I’ve been watching hours and hours of football. I worked behind the scenes at Sky for 10 years before I was even given a shot on camera, watching my male colleagues who maybe weren’t as good as I was, getting chances I was never given.
“I don’t really understand what we need to know, how long we need to work behind the scenes before we are allowed on camera. To be a pundit, the laws are the same. Emma Hayes and Sarina Wiegman can both read the game, are you saying they can’t offer an insight?
“Sounds like to me that Joey has a problem with particular pundits who haven’t done enough in the game, but how does he know? And how do we quantify that? There’s EFL players who are commentating, co-commentating on Champions League games. So what level – as far as Joey Barton is concerned – do you have to get before you can be an expert on the ‘men’s game’?”
Barton replied: “I take everything on board. I’ve known Bianca, being around the game for as long as she has and she works very hard and does a fantastic job.

Susie Wolff slams ‘misogynistic’ allegations as F1 Academy chief accused of sharing info with Mercedes boss husband Toto

SUSIE WOLFF has slammed allegations that she exchanged confidential information with husband and Mercedes team principal Toto as “misogynistic”.A report in Business F1 magazine claimed rival team bosses had raised concerns that Wolff was sharing confidential information from her employer Formula One Management (FOM).

Wolff is employed by F1’s commercial rights holder FOM and in her role as the director of the sports all-female series, F1 Academy, reports directly to F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali.
On Tuesday, the FIA announced its compliance unit had opened an investigation into the pair’s conduct relating to the claims.
The FIA statement said: “The FIA is aware of media speculation centred on the allegation of information of a confidential nature being passed to an F1 team principal from a member of FOM personnel.
“The FIA Compliance Department is looking into the matter.”

Neither party were named by the FIA in the statement, but both Wolff and Mercedes F1 rebutted the claims.
In a social media post, Wolff, 41, said she was “deeply insulted but sadly not surprised” by the allegations.
She added: “It is disheartening that my integrity is being called into question in such a manner, especially when it seems to be rooted in intimidatory and misogynistic behaviour, and focused on my marital status rather than my abilities.”
Meanwhile, a Mercedes spokesperson said: “We note the generic statement from the FIA this evening, which responds to unsubstantiated allegations from a single media outlet, and the off-record briefing which has linked it to the team principal of Mercedes-AMG F1.

“The team has received no communication from the FIA compliance department on this topic and it was highly surprising to learn of the investigation through a media statement.
“We wholly reject the allegation in the statement and associated media coverage, which wrongly impinges on the integrity and compliance of our team principal.
“As a matter of course, we invite full, prompt, and transparent correspondence from the FIA compliance department regarding this investigation and its contents.”
A further statement from F1 said they had not been briefed on the governing body’s statement before its release.
An F1 spokesperson added: “We note the public statement made by the FIA this evening that was not shared with us in advance.
“We have complete confidence that the allegations are wrong, and we have robust processes and procedures that ensure the segregation of information and responsibilities in the event of any potential conflict of interest.
“We are confident that no member of our team has made any unauthorised disclosure to a team principal and would caution anyone against making imprudent and serious allegations without substance.”
Wolff was the last woman to drive in an F1 practice session and was appointed the director of F1 Academy in March 2023.
She married Toto in 2011, several years after first meeting, in a Capri wedding.
The pair have a son together named Jack.

Defore, 41, took to social media to tease a third spell at the Stadium of Light – having last played for Sunderland in March 2022.
The club are in desperate need of a new boss as the Black Cats currently sit ninth in the Championship with six defeats in their last 12 matches.
This means the team faces going into Saturday’s clash against promotion rivals West Brom without a manager.
Unless Sunderland’s board can make a quick turnaround and appoint Mowbray’s replacement.

The list of contenders includes Paul Heckingbottom who was recently sacked by Sheffield United, Plynouth’s Steven Schumacher and John Eustace who remains out of work since his Birmingham sacking.
But fans would not have predicted for Defoe’s name to end up in the mix.
The ex-striker tweeted an amusing photo of him in a suit wearing a red and white tie captioned “Old pic, but ready for the job” and tagged Sunderland’s official X profile.

Jose Mourinho stuns Italian media with bizarre protest as he refuses to speak in Italian in Roma press conference

JOSE MOURINHO left Italian media baffled following Roma’s 2-1 victory over Sassuolo yesterday. The former Spurs manager launched his own one-man protest at his perceived ill-treatment from the media by refusing to speak Italian after the game.
Mourinho was full of mind games this weekCredit: Getty
Despite speaking the language fluently, Mourinho answered questions through an interpreter and responded in Portuguese.
As reported by Football Italia, Mourinho opened his post-match press conference by saying: “I want to thank the club and director Tiago Pinto, who over the last 24 hours gave me the support and therefore the emotional stability that allows me to do my work.
“They showed faith in me. This was a very important, hard-fought and deserved victory, because even when we were a goal down, Roma were still the best team on the pitch.
“I am very happy with the players and all our fans. I want to dedicate this to my fantastic assistant manager, Salvatore Foti, who was not here today but worked very hard to help us achieve the victory.”
    READ MORE ON FOOTBALL
Roma trailed in the game for nearly an hour before goals from Paulo Dybala and Rasmus Kristensen secured victory for the Giallorossi.
Ahead of the game, Mourinho had employed mind games against Sassuolo, the referee and VAR.
Just 24 hours before the match he said: “To be honest, I will say that I am worried about the referee. We had this official three times and I don’t think he has the emotional stability to work at this level.
“I am not relaxed about the referee or the VAR, who we were also often unlucky with.

“[And] I am worried about Berardi, who is a fantastic player, I love him, but he needs to show more respect for his opponents. He mocks other players and gets them booked, so I love and hate him. I don’t like that kind of behaviour on the field and would really dislike seeing that from one of my players.”
Mourinho appeared to suggest his choice of phrase had been used against him when he again referenced “emotional stability” after the game.
He said: “The reason I am speaking Portuguese is that my Italian is not sufficiently polished to express certain concepts. When I talked about emotional stability, I was referring to a quality that in life and in football is necessary to perform at the highest level.”
The dark arts continued into added time at the Mapei stadium, with a member of Mourinho’s coaching staff sent off for refusing to return the match ball to Sassuolo’s players when they attempted to take a quick throw.
On the incident, Mourinho said: “As for the situation that caused some irritation in the Sassuolo staff and fans when we did not give the ball back quickly, I went over to my colleague and simply said that to receive fair play, it is necessary to first give it and there is a player in the Sassuolo squad who is lacking in that area.”
That comment appeared to be another crack at Berradi.
The victory away at Sassuolo was Mourinho’s first win at the Mapei stadium as Roma manager and has his side now sitting in the top four.
Roma’s next game takes place at the Stadio Olimpico against Fiorentina. More
