Fans rage ‘are you having a laugh?!’ as Sky Sports cuts to a commercial break DURING penalty shoot-out in Carabao Cup

VIEWERS blasted Sky Sports as “shambolic” for cutting to a commercial break deep into Fulham’s historic 7-6 penalty shootout triumph against Everton. With spot-kicks for the Carabao Cup quarter-final level and into sudden death, the broadcaster swapped penalties for adverts to leave fans asking “Are you having a laugh?!”

One fan said: “Go to ad break with pens at 6-6 !!!! What a p***take.”
Tosin Adarabioyo eventually slotted in the decisive penalty to put the Cottagers into the last four for the first time ever.
That followed Everton’s Idrissa Gueye hitting the post with his own nervy spot-kick.
The drama came after a 1-1 draw where Toffees’ sub Beto pounced late on to cancel out an own-goal opener from Michael Keane.

But viewers were seething at Sky’s shootout shut-out just as the penalties were reaching their climax.
Footage of the nervy penalties were being shown on Sky Sports News – with the featured match being Chelsea’s win over Newcastle.
Despite not showing the game, Sky were able to show the key part of the match – at least until they cut to the adverts instead.
One posted: “Surely they could wait a few minutes.”
    Most read in Football
Another raged: “You guys should be ashamed. We just want to watch pens… It’s just not on.”
And a third said: “I can’t believe Sky Sports News decided to cut off penalties for adverts meaning we missed Everton getting knocked out!!!”
Another argued: “Sky Sports News going to an ad break during the Everton v Fulham penalties sums up perfectly that it’s… Money > Fans.”
The shoot-out was certainly full of tension too.
Everton keeper Jordan Pickford kept out Bobby De Cordova-Reid’s spot-kick and Amadou Onana’s tame attempt was thwarted by Bernd Leno.
Into sudden death it went, with Cottagers’ centre-back Tosin finally emerging as the surprise hero.

Shearer praised his longtime partner on the hit football show, where they formed a stunning team alongside host Gary Lineker for many years.
And the Newcastle legend insists Saturdays will no longer be the same without the 60-year-old.
That is because they will be “much, much quieter” without the ex-England international’s lively character and signature laugh.
Shearer wrote on The Athletic: “[Wednesday] I picked him up from the airport, we had breakfast at his hotel and then I met him again in the pub a few hours later.

“It was only afterwards that I appreciated how much I’d been looking forward to it and perhaps this, ultimately, is the best compliment I can pay my longstanding colleague on Match of the Day.
“Wrighty, if you’re reading this, you make life a joy. It was over the course of his trip that he told me he’d be stepping back from Match of the Day come the end of the season.
“We’ll still work together on the Premier League, but my Saturdays certainly won’t be the same. For a start, they will be much, much quieter.”
Wright first appeared on the show while still a player at Arsenal in 1997, later returning for further stints between 2002-2008 and 2015 to the present.

Shearer wasn’t the only one who paid tribute to the legendary striker’s contribution on Match of the Day.
Lineker tweeted: “It has been an absolute pleasure and privilege to work alongside you, Ian. One of my favourite people on the planet. Farewell my friend.”
Wright stated he is leaving the flagship show after making “great friends and many great memories”.
The ex-Crystal Palace star suggested he is departing the programme to pursue different projects.

Wright announced: “I’m stepping back having made great friends and many great memories.
“This decision has been coming for a while, maybe my birthday earlier this year fast tracked it a little, but ultimately it’s time to do a few more different things with my Saturdays.”
“I feel very privileged to have had such an incredible run on the most iconic football show in the world.
“Anyone that knows my story knows how much the show has meant to me since I was young boy. MOTD is my Holy Grail.

Erik ten Hag’s struggling side travelled to Anfield with two losses in their last three league matches.
The Dutchman’s future at Old Trafford remains in question but he does not fear the sack.

That is despite SunSport revealing that former Chelsea boss Graham Potter is favoured by incoming investor Sir Jim Ratcliffe to replace Ten Hag if results do not pick up.
But United left Anfield with a point after holding their rivals to a goalless 0-0 draw.
Scott McTominay told Sky Sports: “For a start we have a number of injuries which doesn’t help the squad or help the rhythm of playing a regular team, but we knew it would be tough today.
“We had to stay calm and stick together and we had moments in the game where we had chances and could have hurt them.
“We’re disappointed we couldn’t make it more of a game and create more opportunities.
“The boys will be pleased not to lose but also definitely not happy we didn’t win.” More
