FORMULA ONE fans have just noticed Lewis Hamilton’s bizarre steering wheel technique. And a Mercedes mechanic even felt the need to give an explanation.

Most drivers grip their steering wheels with one hand either side, holding onto the handles.
But eagle-eyed fans on Twitter have noticed that Hamilton does thing differently.
In a clip, seven-time World Champion Lewis is seen with his left hand OVER the wheel.
An F1 enthusiast on Twitter said: “I don’t think much has been said about this, but Hamilton’s first lap gear shift holding arrangements are unique.

“No other driver adopts this position – not even his team-mate.”
In response to the tweet, fans who were given a tour of the Mercedes pit showed a video where his unconventional grip is explained.
The mechanic says: “Do you know why Lewis starts like that?

“Is he showing you something? Or is he holding [the lower gear paddle] so he can’t go down a gear.
“If you put your hand there, you can’t go down a gear.”
Hamilton uses this grip only at the start of races, where shifting up the gears is vital – he then returns to a conventional set-up.
Hamilton is the only driver currently using this grip, and it is apparently because he favours a much thinner shift paddle compared to other drivers.
It is a recent change in technique for Hamilton, with the driver only adopting the grip during the 2020/21 season.
Hamilton placed third in Sunday’s Canadian Grand Prix behind Fernando Alonso in second and Max Verstappen in first.
Verstappen is running away with the drivers championship, sitting 69 points ahead of team-mate Sergio Perez.
His win in Canada saw him match Ayrton Senna’s 41 race wins. More

Fans fume at Sky Sports for ‘criminal’ decision to axe ‘talented’ and ‘special’ reporter whose commentary went viral

FOOTBALL fans have blasted Sky Sports for their decision to sack a “talented” and “special” commentator.Following a reportedly ruthless cost-cut call from Sky to axe six of their reporters, fans were left particularly disappointed by the decision to remove Jaydee Dyer from their ranks.
Fans have slammed Sky for their ‘criminal’ decision to let Jaydee Dyer goCredit: Getty
Dyer’s commentary for an Ollie Waktins goal saw him go viral with even Ian Wright singling him out for praise
Dyer typically works on Sky’s coverage of Basketball, but went viral for a piece of commentary from the Premier League.
During a match between Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest in April, Dyer was an onsite reporter for Soccer Saturday – another show facing a makeover with the departure of Jeff Stelling.
Dyer received widespread praise for his eloquent description of an Ollie Watkins goal, with one fan saying: “I could fully see the goal unfolding in my brain as he called it.”
Even Arsenal legend Ian Wright poured on the praise, adding: “Brilliant @J_Dyer_Official. The way you described it felt like I was next to Ollie Watkins! ♥️.”

However, fast forward to today and Dyer is one of the names who will no longer be continuing with Sky along with Guy Havord, Dickie Davis, Bianca Westwood, Greg Whelan, Lynsey Hooper.
Reacting to the news, one fan wrote on Twitter: “Criminal if they get rid of him when there are less enthusiastic pundits sitting on their panel, let alone around the grounds…”
A second reacted: “This is awful why has he been axed.”
“He’s a genuinely outstanding broadcaster,” typed a third.

A fourth replied: “How they gonna cut @J_Dyer_Official? Anyone that’s ever seen him cover football or basketball knows he’s quality at his job. Sky done themselves over here, JayDee will go on to bigger things.”
Another added: “He’s brilliant with NBA coverage too. Somebody who holds your attention.”
Big names at Sky Sports are not immune either, with Martin Tyler confirmed to be leaving the broadcaster and Geoff Shreeves reportedly being told to take a huge pay cut to keep his job.
Dyer himself also appears to be disgruntled over the decision, appearing to like and retweet a number of tweets critical of the decision on his personal Twitter account. More

Bradford pay for ex-Premier League star’s hotel.. before Wales ace completes transfer to League Two rivals instead

BRADFORD have had their move for former Wales star Jonny Williams hijacked despite paying for his hotel ahead of his medical at the Bantams. The move was hijacked at the last minute by Gillingham with the midfielder being announced in a cheeky video on the Gills’ Twitter.

Gillingham used the announcement of the club’s garish pink third kit as a means to unveil the surprise signing of Williams, 29, to fans.
In the video, fans walk into the room thinking they’ll see the new kit, but are in fact seeing Williams modelling it.
The midfielder was a free agent this summer after leaving Swindon Town without renewing his contract.
He had offers from Gillingham, Bradford and Hollywood-owned Wrexham.
    READ MORE ON FOOTBALL
The Welsh club, owned by Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney had hoped to convince the former Welsh star to join their project.
The unsuccessful move for Williams follows on from the owners’ attempts to sign Gareth Bale after he left LAFC.
Williams came through the Crystal Palace academy as a hotly tipped youngster in 2011.
From there he underwent a series of loan stints at Ipswich, Nottingham Forest, MK Dons and Sunderland.

The midfielder played 70 times for Palace during his eight years at the club before signing for Charlton.
Two years later he joined Cardiff for a few months before signing with Swindon.
The midfielder’s light has shone brightest at international level where he made 33 appearances for Wales – including during their EURO 2016 run to the semi-final.
The midfielder is not Welsh born however.
Being born in Tunbridge Wells, he is a Kent native and he says that played a key part in picking Gillingham over Bradford.
On the battle over his signature he told KentOnline that he pulled the plug on his Bradford transfer just two hours before his medical.
He said: “Bradford is a very big club, a great club in this division, a well-respected club,
“It has its positives but when Gillingham came in it was a hard decision, a lot of thought, not a lot of sleep, but I want to be near home, that is where my friends and family are.
“I want to be part of this project and it was an opportunity I have always wanted to take in my career to play for Gillingham, close to home and be a part of a team that is likely to achieve success.” More

The main clue is that Luton are understood to have to play their opening games away from Kenilworth Road while refurbishment is taking place.
Their potential opponents, Liverpool, have also asked to play away on the first day of the season as they carry out works at Anfield.
So it would appear that that fixture is impossible.

Tommy Fury branded ‘worst player to ever kick a ball’ as fans lay into Soccer Aid performance & even rival KSI piles in

The British boxer mixed it up with a number of legendary athletes, such as Roberto Carlos, Francesco Totti, Hernan Crespo as well as Usain Bolt.
They took on England, consisting of a number of Three Lions greats like Paul Scholes, Jermain Defoe and Gary Neville, as well as Team GB icon Sir Mo Farah.
Tommy started on the bench and was fielded by new Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino after 21 minutes when he replaced Maisie Adam amid a loud ovation from the crowd.
However, the brother of Tyson Fury failed to set the pitch alight the same way he has done in the ring against opponents like Jake Paul.

That led to a swipe by his new rival KSI, who branded him “terrible” on social media
The YouTuber, who is chasing a multi-million-pound clash with the former Love Island star, tweeted: “Tommy Fury should stick to boxing lmao, he’s terrible at football.”

Fans joined in on Twitter, and some even branded him – rather unfairly – as the “worst” athlete to kick a ball.

More importantly, the boxer helped Soccer Aid raise a whopping £14,619,005 for UNICEF and his team also won 4-2.
England found themselves a goal down courtesy of Bolt, but Asa Butterfield put the hosts level before Manchester United legend Scholes completed the turnaround.
