This is despite him not knowing the identity of the club’s next manager yet.
But Erik Ten Hag has come through his Man Utd interview “with flying colours”, according to reports.
The Ajax boss is the favourite to take over at Old Trafford just ahead of Mauricio Pochettino.
Ten Hag is also said to enjoy the support of interim manager Ralf Rangnick.
On the transfer front, Man Utd are said to lead the race for Declan Rice. But West Ham reportedly want them to stump up a whopping £150m.
Part of that fee could be covered by the removal of Paul Pogba’s wages from the books.

Ronaldo and Co will meet Italy’s conquerors in the World Cup play-off final in Porto on Tuesday.
Manchester United star Ronaldo, 37, tweeted: “The first step has been taken towards our great objective, towards the 2022 World Cup.
“Nothing is won, nothing is achieved.
“We have to continue to work in a serious and focused way, respecting the opponent but always believing in our abilities. Power Portugal! Go to Qatar!”
    Ten Hag’s a wanted man
A Dutch journalist claims that Erik Ten Hag is wanted by two other clubs aside from Man United.
Dutch football expert Marcel van der Kraan told Sky Sports:“There are three major opportunities for Erik ten Hag. Manchester United is only one of them.
“I don’t want to dampen the excitement in England but maybe United have not done all the work yet.”

    David James on Kalvin Philips
Ex-England goalkeeper David James has urged Leeds United star Kalvin Phillips to snub other clubs in favour of a move to Aston Villa
He said to GG recon: “Kalvin could become a member of Stevie’s group at Villa and then if he does well then he can go with Stevie to the next club he moves onto.
“Once Stevie likes a player then he sticks with them, which is something you can sense from his relationships.
“I can see Stevie bringing success to Villa and that would be one exciting bus for Kalvin Phillips to be on.”
Man United need to flog troublemakers
Man United will need to flog troublemakers Cristiano Ronaldo, Paul Pogba and Harry Maguire if Erik Ten Hag as the Ajax boss isn’t Zinedine Zidane,
That’s the view of ex-Holland international Rene van der Gijp has given the Red Devils an astonishing tip.
Van der Gijp told Vendaag Inside: “He is not a Zidane, for example, would be.
“He just needs to get rid of those troublemakers. Ronaldo, Pogba, Maguire. Ronaldo would get along fine with Zidane.
“They are on the same level.”
    Wolves hope to keep Neves
Wolves have opened contract talks with Ruben Neves in a bid to keep him out of Arsenal’s clutches this summer.
The Arsenal boss sees the £50million-rated Molineux midfielder as key to his rebuilding plans with Manchester United, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain also monitoring Neves, who will have two years left of his current contract this summer.
However Wolves know they must move now to convince Neves to extend his current deal – or cash in this summer while his value remains high, to fund new signings for Bruno Lage.
“We’re obviously talking to him and we all know how much he loves playing for the club. We know how much he has settled here, but he is also an ambitious young man,” said Wolves Technical Director Scott Sellars.
“As with all players, you try and have an open dialogue with them and their representatives to come to the best scenario for the club and the player.
“Rightly so, elite clubs all over Europe will have Ruben on their radar, but we have an excellent relationship with him and will do things properly, and collaboratively, when the time is right.
“Ruben is having a fantastic season and everybody should take a pat on the back in terms of how well he is playing.”
    McCoist on Man United job
Ally McCoist reckons Man United messed up by not recruiting Antonio Conte as new boss when they sacked Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Conte subsequently joined Tottenham but McCoist thinks United can prise the Italian away from White Hart Lane if they fail to bring in Mauricio Pochettino whose reportedly keen on a return to Spurs.
McCoist told FourFourTwo: “I think United missed the boat by not appointing Conte at the end of last year, and in normal circumstances you would think that ship had sailed, however, nothing surprises you in football.
“You hear the rumours that Mauricio Pochettino wants to go back to Spurs, and doesn’t fancy United, so I wouldn’t rule out Conte going to United.”
    Pogba on France duty
Paul Pogba has admitted that being called up for international duty with France is a welcome break away from Man United.
He told Telefoot: “Absolutely. You have to speak the truth.
“Yes, it’s true that there have been moments, especially in Manchester, when there was a need for this break to regain this energy, this confidence.”
    Merson on Sancho for England
Paul Merson reckons Gareth Southgate should’ve picked Jadon Sancho instead of Raheem Sterling for the England squad.
Merson said in his Daily Star column: “Gareth Southgate should have picked Jadon Sancho instead of Raheem Sterling in his England squad.
“Surely you’re better off having Sancho in the squad than Sterling? We know what Sterling can do.
“We know he’s going to the World Cup. Sterling always performs for England. Leave him out, he’s got big games coming up for Manchester City. And put Sancho in.”
    Rivaldo backs Ten Hag appointment
Brazilian legend Rivaldo has backed Erik Ten Hag to become Man United’s new boss.
He said to Betfair: “According to reports this week, Manchester United have spoken to Erik ten Hag about becoming their next manager and he is now the odds-on favourite in the betting.
“Looking at what the Dutchman has been doing with Ajax, I’m sure he could be a great option to become United’s next manager. He is an excellent coach.”
    Elanga on Fernandes
Anthony Elanga has revealed that Bruno Fernandes helps to keep him calm and relaxed on the pitch.
He said to United’s media: “That’s why I feel comfortable [on the pitch] because I get the likes of Bruno [Fernandes] speaking to me every day.
“And on the pitch as well, which helps calm me down and stay relaxed when I have the ball.”
    Elanga praises Ronaldo
Anthony Elanga has praised Man United mentor Cristiano Ronaldo.
“It’s really good [to have Ronaldo as a mentor] because I go to training quite early and see him there.
“If we have had a game the day before, we’ll speak about the game or training. He’s a really good person to have around the building, not just because of what he does on the pitch, but what he does off the pitch as well.
“If we (younger players) need any help we can speak to him, so he’s a really good person to be around.”
    Lindelof congratulates Elanga on achievement
Victor Lindelof played his part in helping Sweden to a World Cup play-off semi-final win, and then afterwards congratulated his Manchester United teammate Anthony Elanga on making his international debut.
Lindelof played all 120 minutes as the Swedes defeated Czech Republic 1-0 after extra-time, a tie decided by Robin Quaison’s winner.
Nineteen-year-old Elanga came on for this Sweden bow with five minutes of extra-time remaining, and afterwards was pictured on social media celebrating with Lindelof.
And the centre-back went a step further, adding the image to his Instagram story and paying tribute to the teenager with the words: ‘Congratulations on the debut brother. So happy for you.’

United must move quickly for Erik
Manchester United will need to move quickly to secure Erik ten Hag as their new manager – because he is reportedly attracting interest from other clubs.
Earlier this week, SunSport exclusively revealed that the Ajax head coach was at the top of the pile to be offered the position at Old Trafford, and it has since been confirmed that he has interviewed for the role.
But according to The Mail, Man Utd will need to be swift in their dealings with Ten Hag as two other European clubs have also spoken to the 52-year-old.
The other two unnamed sides are said to be Champions League regulars – with one having already tabled an offer to the Dutchman.
There are also reports in Holland that Ten Hag could stay at Ajax after he signed a new deal only last year following an unsuccessful interview with Tottenham.
Paris Saint-Germain manager Mauricio Pochettino is the other candidate at the forefront of United’s consideration.

    Parker: Maguire must perform well
Former Manchester United and England defender Paul Parker believes it is essential that Harry Maguire puts in a good performance when representing his country this weekend.
International friendlies are often a chance to experiment with tactics and selection, but Parker feels the spotlight will be firmly on the Red Devils captain.
Maguire has endured a difficult domestic season with many critics calling for him to be dropped from the United first team.
In an interview with OddsNinja, Parker said: “For certain players, these games are important.
“They’ve got to treat them as games to get themselves back into the system again, and Harry Maguire needs a good performance for his country because he’s going to be scrutinised by every single football supporter – and maybe even non-football supporters because even they’re gonna want an opinion about his performance for the country.
“It is really important, and Harry Maguire cannot afford to take his foot off the gas. He has to step forward and show it there.”
    Poch waiting on United call
Mauricio Pochettino is ‘waiting to hear back’ from John Murtough after holding initial talks with Manchester United’s director of football several weeks ago.
According to reports in The Express, the PSG boss spoke to Murtough about the upcoming position, but is yet to receive confirmation of an official interview for the role.
The Argentine coach was a long time favourite for the job, but has now slipped behind Ajax manager Erik ten Hag in the betting.
And Ten Hag now appears in pole position after he was said to impress United officials at his interview earlier this week.
Whether Murtogh actually gets round to contacting Pochettino remains to be seen.
United and PSG in Poch stand-off
The Glazer family’s unwillingness to pay substantial compensation to land Mauricio Pochettino is another reason why Erik ten Hag is now the preferred candidate to take over at Old Trafford.
In an intriguing stand off, Paris Saint-Germain officials are considering sacking Pochettino, but don’t want to hand him to United for nothing.
ESPN report that PSG would rather force the Red Devils into paying a sizeable fee for the Argentine’s services – which United officials are refusing to do.
The compensation package necessary to bring Ten Hag to the Premier League is understood to be both less costly and less complicated.
    United’s Elanga makes Sweden debut
Anthony Elanga’s dream season took another turn last night as the teenager made his international debut.
The 19-year-old came on for the last five minutes of extra-time in Sweden’s World Cup play-off semi-final win over the Czech Republic.
The United starlet replaced Emil Forsberg at a crucial point in proceedings, but Janne Andersson’s men held on to their 1-0 lead and will now face Poland in Tuesday’s final.
The late cameo ensures Elanga’s international allegiance for Sweden. The forward was also eligible for England and Cameroon.

    Fernandes to pen new deal
Bruno Fernandes is close to agreeing a new five-year deal at Manchester United, reports Neil Custis.
The Portuguese star will more than double his salary to £240,000-per-week after the club hierarchy convinced him of their plans for the future.
Fernandes, 27, was uncertain about staying at the club during this season following the sacking of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Their exit from the Champions League means United are heading for a fifth successive season without a trophy under the interim management of Ralf Rangnick.
But United have moved to get Ajax coach Eric Ten Hag and start a rebuild towards challenging for the title again, convincing Fernandes to commit himself to the club.
    In demand Diaby considering options
Bayer Leverkusen’s hottest property Moussa Diaby is already thinking about his future move – and it could depend on who clinches fourth spot in the Premier League.
The 22-year-old winger, wanted by both Arsenal and Manchester United, has revealed his desire to play in the Champions League.
In a conversation with Le Parisien (via Football.London), the French international admitted: “Obviously, I’m thinking about [my future], but not too much yet. I remain focused on the end of the season. For the moment it is my only concern.
“I want to play all the high level matches. The objective is to qualify with Bayer for the Champions League. I love participating in games with pressure.”
Diaby has scored 16 goals and provided nine assists in 35 games for Leverkusen this season, and is expected to cost in the region of £50m.

    Good morning Man Utd fans
Ex-liverpool star David James reckons Man United striker Marcus Rashford would do well at Liverpool.
He told GGRecon: “I just think he’s got all the attributes to be a false-nine, through-the-middle player, rather than being stuck out wide.
“I think he could be a valuable asset to Liverpool.”
Meanwhile, Ally McCoist is baffled as to why Man United aren’t pursuing Zinedine Zidane to become their new manager.
He said on talkSPORT: “The one name I haven’t heard anything from is Zidane.”
“Clearly, the one thing he can do and do on a regular basis is win the Champions League. He’s proved that. He did it three times with Real Madrid.
“He can handle big players and big pressure and a big situation at a massive club so I’m not sure why he isn’t in the running at all. Unless he’s ruled himself out?”
Elsewhere, Erik ten Hag will bring a former Manchester United star with him to Old Trafford if he lands the manager’s job.
The Daily Mail believe that the Ajax boss wants a Dutch coach with ‘strong connections to the club’ to join him at United.
The revelation has excited United fans, who are now dreaming of a return to club for either Robin van Persie, Jaap Stam or Ruud van Nistelrooy.
All three candidates went into coaching following their playing careers with Van Persie currently assistant to Arne Slot at Feyenoord.
Van Nistelrooy, meanwhile, has been in charge of PSV Eindhoven’s reserve team, and has recently been linked with the top job at the Philips Stadion.
Finally, Rio Ferdinand has shut down talks of him joining the Manchester United backroom staff by labelling the reports “mad lies”.
Speaking on his YouTube channel FIVE, he said: “I’ve been online and I’m meant to be – I’ve put myself forward – for the assistant manager’s job at Man Utd. I don’t know who gets this mad news.
“When have you pressed the send button and thought that you’re not going to get me to come back and go ‘actually, no I ain’t, what are you chatting about?’
“So whoever has told you that you need to go back to your source and say ‘listen man’.
“But if I did go in there – woo – the whip would be getting cracked! Crack that whip.
“But no, no I’m not, man. I’m not going in there.”
    Rudiger’s transfer plans revealed
Chelsea star Antonio Rudiger would only consider a move to Manchester United if he spoke to the new permanent manager first, reports suggest.
According to Bild’s Christian Falk, the centre-back won’t make any decisions regarding his future before the Champions League quarter-final matches against Real Madrid.
Falk tweeted: “[Rudiger] will make no decision before the Matches against ⁦[Real Madrid] about his future.
“He hopes on the one hand that the difficult situation at ⁦[Chelsea]⁩ will be cleared up. On the other hand: Real is also still interested.”
He added: “A decision about a future of [Rudiger] at [United] is difficult. Rudiger would like to Talk with the new Coach before…”
    Akanji rejects Dortmund extension
Man United target Manuel Akanji has rejected a contract extension offer from Borussia Dortmund.
Dortmund’s efforts to convince him to sign a new contract have failed to succeed due to his wage demands.
That’s according to Bild who claim Akanji and his representatives were after more cash from Dortmund.
    Ibrahimovic on Elanga
Zlatan Ibrahimovic has revealed that he’s proud that Man United ace Anthony Elanga is playing for Sweden.
Ibrahimovic said ahead of Sweden’s play-off tie against Czech Republic: “He is a great talent – we are proud and happy that he comes from Sweden.
“He has all the future ahead of him, and if he continues just as he has done, it looks positive.”
Ten Hag may stay at Ajax
Erik Ten Hag could remain with Ajax despite interest from Man United.
That’s according to Dutch publication Voetbal’s reporter, Freek Jansen.
He said on the Pak Schaal Podcast: “United have wanted him for a long time, they have been interested for a long time.
“That’s where conversations take place. But he’s not into that. That is mainly the management.
“He is working on this season and how he can turn it around again so that Ajax will again book convincing victories.”

Boston Celtics owner Stephen Pagliuca has also made it onto the shortlist.
Pagliuca also owns Italian football team Atalanta and is the fourth bidder to make the cut.
He joins Tom Ricketts, Todd Boehly and Sir Martin Broughton in the next round of bidding for the Blues.
    Ricketts ongoing battle
Tom Ricketts still faces an uphill battle convincing fans he can run the club to their liking.
A statement from the Chelsea Supporters’ Trust read: “The Chelsea Supporters Trust is grateful to the Ricketts family for meeting with us this week. We challenged them on all the points supporters have raised concerns about.
“However, our concerns about their ability to run an inclusive, successful club on behalf of our diverse supporter base around the world have not yet been allayed.”
    Ricketts in next round
Tom Ricketts is through to round two of the Chelsea bidding war after meeting fans on his charm offensive to win their backing.
The controversial American was notified on Friday night that his family’s offer has made it onto the shortlist of candidates to buy the £3billion-rated Premier League side.
And Ricketts is now on his way back to the US following talks with supporters’ groups in London aimed at calming fears over an historic racism storm.
    Alonso wants La Liga transfer
Marcos Alonso has admitted that he would like to return to LaLiga one day.
The Chelsea defender will have just one year remaining on his current contract this summer.
Quizzed about a potential transfer while on international duty, the Spaniard said: “I would love to play in LaLiga, all my life I have wanted to play and be here in Spain, but the circumstances have been different and not everything has depended on me.
“At the moment I am focused on this season and what has to be, will be.”
    Unknown bidder in the race
An unknown bidder has emerged as a front-runner to buy Chelsea.
Todd Boehly and Sir Martin Broughton are the two parties leading the race to buy the Blues with the Ricketts family still in the mix.
However, there’s an anonymous potential buyer in the running, according to the BBC.
    Chelsea owner race heats up
Chelsea will have new owners by the end of April, reports claim.
Raine Group have told all potential owners that they may reach a decision over the Blues sale next month, according to the Evening Standard.
Sir Martin Broughton and Todd Boehly were informed that they will progress to the next stage of bidding.
However, The Ricketts family were still awaiting confirmation, but are positive they will also be in the running going forward.
    Hazard’s scheduled surgery
Real Madrid star Eden Hazard looks likely to miss the chance to play old club Chelsea in the Champions League due to injury.
Real head to Stamford Bridge for the Champions League quarter finals clash on April 6.
But Hazard is scheduled to have leg surgery that will probably rule him out of the game.
A club statement read: “In the coming days, our player, Eden Hazard, will undergo surgery to remove the osteosynthesis plate in his right fibula.”

“It is now up to us to redouble our efforts and clearly lay out a vision for our stewardship of the club with diversity and inclusion at its heart.”
Capello slams Lukaku and Abraham’s ability
Fabio Capello has suggested the arrivals of Romelu Lukaku and Tammy Abraham in the Serie A highlights the decline of Italy’s homegrown talent.
Capello claims there are not enough young Italian players coming through the ranks in the Serie A.
And he reckons the successes of ‘average’ Abraham this season with Roma and Lukuka with Inter in the last campaign shows how poor the quality of the Italian league is.
As both players have been average in the Premier League.
Capello said to Sky Sports Italy: “There are not enough young Italian players, but there is a wrong idea at its base. We are the country of the back pass to the goalkeeper.
“Victor Osimhen, Romelu Lukaku and Tammy Abraham were just normal strikers abroad. They became champions in Italy. This should raise some questions.”
    Chelsea supporters worried by Ricketts
Chelsea fans have mobilised on social media this week in their protestation against the Ricketts family’s proposed takeover of their football club, and now the Chelsea Supporters Trust have issued a statement of concern too.
Following the unease with which the news of the Ricketts’ official offer was greeted, the family met with the Chelsea Supporters Trust earlier this week to discuss their intentions.
However, it is understood that fans’ initial concerns have not been appeased, resulting in this afternoon’s correspondence.
The statement reads: “It is essential that the new owners of the club has the confidence of the supporter base and demonstrate an understanding of the values that we stand for.
“That is why the strength of feeling towards the Ricketts family bid from Chelsea supporters cannot and must not be ignored.
“The CST are grateful to the Ricketts family for meeting with us this week. We challenged them on all the points supporters have raised concerns about.
“However, our concerns about their ability to run an inclusive, successful club on behalf of our diverse supporter base around the world have not yet been allayed.”

    Ziyech has overcome system struggle
Hakim Ziyech has admitted that it took him time to adjust to Thomas Tuchel’s preferred system when the German arrived, but now the once-struggling Moroccan is thriving.
The former Ajax man was brought to Stamford Bridge as a winger in 2020, and operated mainly on the right under Frank Lampard’s management.
However, since Tuchel took charge, The Blues have often set up with three centre-halves and two wing-backs, meaning that Ziyech has played most of his football in a central position.
In an interview with ChelseaTV (via 90Min), Ziyech revealed: “[The system] affects me, of course.
“Everybody knows that if I play wide, it’s my best position. When we play four at the back, most of the time I play on the right.
“When we play a back five, we play a different system. I think during the time since [Tuchel] came, I’ve adapted well.
“I think I had more problems that most of the players because I’d never played with a back five. I needed some time and I took that time to adapt, to learn from it and to improve.
“I think in that role, things are much better now than in the beginning.”

    Takeover latest: Some Candy talking
Nick Candy’s offer to purchase Chelsea has not made Raine Group’s official shortlist – but the property developer may yet be in with a chance of being part of the club’s ownership.
According to the BBC’s Alistair Magowan, Candy’s Blue Football Consortium have claimed that they have been asked to speak to other bidders and that those talks are now underway.
The bids from the consortiums led by Todd Boehly and Sir Martin Broughton are understood to be the frontrunners to takeover at Stamford Bridge.
    Cup semi-final date confirmed
The date for Chelsea’s FA Cup semi-final with Crystal Palace has been officially confirmed this morning.
The Blues will face the The Eagles at Wembley on Sunday, 17 April with the game scheduled to kick-off at 4.30pm.
Following successful talks between the government and the football club, Chelsea will be allowed to sell tickets to supporters for the showpiece semi.
Manchester City will face Liverpool in the FA Cup’s other semi-final with that game taking place the previous say at 3.30pm.
    Azpi has choice to make
Cesar Azpilicueta is unsure whether to stay at Chelsea or sign for Barcelona, according to reports.
Azpilicueta, 32, could leave the club for free this summer and has already snubbed several offers from the Blues to extend his deal.
The Express claims that the club captain is still torn on what he should do next.
The Spanish star ‘feels deeply rooted’ in London and is ‘proud’ to have been Chelsea skipper since 2019.
But he has been offered an initial two-year deal at Barcelona and the lure of going back to his motherland.
Azpilicueta has refused to commit to either Chelsea or Catalonia as he decides.
Speaking at a press conference whilst on international duty, the wing-back said: “My future? It’s not the place or time to discuss it.
    Boehly will bring in Mahrez
Todd Boehly’s consortium will take over at Stamford Bridge this summer – and immediately pinch Riyad Mahrez from Manchester City.
That’s the latest suggestion from the rumour mill should the American businessman’s bid prove successful.
Boehly is said to be worth £5billion, and his offer is backed by Clearlake Capital, who have assets worth over £60billion.
And the prospective new owners want to make a statement by taking a star player from one of their Premier League rivals.
Despite Mahrez’s sensational form for City, the Algerian has been repeatedly linked with a move away with just over a year to run on his contract.
Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona and Real Madrid are also said to be interested in the forward.
    Lukaku linked with PSG move
Paris Saint-Germain could be about to end Romelu Lukaku’s Chelsea nightmare.
The Belgian hitman has endured a torrid time since returning to Stamford Bridge last summer.
Despite arriving for £100m, the 28-year-old has managed just 12 goals in 34 appearances, and now appears second-choice behind Kai Havertz.
Lukaku has previously attempted to manoeuvre a move back to Inter Milan, having publicly aired his unhappiness at Chelsea during a misguided interview with Sky Italia.
And now, according to Caught Offside, big-spending PSG are plotting a move for the striker as they look to revamp their attacking options in the close season.
Ricketts family ‘confident’ of making shortlist
Sky Sports report that the Ricketts family are still in the running to buy Chelsea.
The owners of the Chicago Cubs are said to be ‘confident’ of joining Sir Martin Broughton and Todd Boehly on the shortlist currently being drawn up by Raine Group.
The suggestion will be a concern to Blues supporters who have made their thoughts on the prospective American owners clear.
Chelsea fans have mobilised on social media in recent days using the hashtag #NoToRicketts.
Boehly and Broughton the preferred bidders
It now seems apparent that Raine Group’s favoured candidates for Chelsea ownership are the bids from consortiums led by Todd Boehly and Sir Martin Broughton.
Several news sources are reporting that the two parties are the names at the head of the merchant bank’s shortlist.
The Guardian’s football correspondent Jacob Steinberg has tweeted that Boehly and Broughton are the preferred bidders, but there has been ‘no clarity’ on the offers from Nick Candy and the Ricketts family.
The bid from Saudi Media Group was said to have been ruled out last night.
Hop, skip and out for Italy’s Jorginho
Chelsea’s Jorginho says he will be ‘haunted for life’ by the penalty misses that subsequently cost Italy a place at the 2022 World Cup.
The midfielder – a so-called spotkick expert – twice missed from 12 yards in crucial group games against Switzerland, condemning the Azzurri to the play-offs.
The 30-year-old broke down in tears after last night’s last-gasp defeat to North Macedonia. In an interview with RAI Sport (via Football Italia), Jorginho blubbed: “It hurts when I think about it because I do still think about it and it will haunt me for the rest of my life.
“Stepping up there twice and not being able to help your team and your country is something that I will carry with me forever, and it weighs on me.
“People say we need to lift our heads and carry on, but it’s tough.”

    Boehly bid for Blues successful
Todd Boehly’s consortium is among the frontrunners to buy Chelsea Football Club.
The American philanthropist was supposedly informed yesterday that his offer had made it on to the shortlist currently being devised by the Raine Group.
That’s the understanding of The Times, and you expect they would know – their columnist, the Tory peer, Daniel Finkelstein is part of Boehly’s consortium.
The Raine Group are yet to make an official announcement.
    Good morning Chelsea fans
Seb Coe is among the frontrunners as the race to buy Chelsea hots up.
The Olympic track legend and diehard Blues fan is part of a consortium going head-to-head with American Todd Boehly.
Nick Candy is the latest Chelsea bidder who has been ruled out of buying the club.
Blues fan Candy along with Woody Johnson haven’t been shortlisted as potential buyers, according to The Athletic.
The news comes just hours after the Saudi Media Group was also ruled of the bidding.
Meanwhile, Chelsea could take TWO YEARS to recover from being sold by Roman Abramovich.
That’s according to The Mirror who claim the Blues’ rivals reckon the West Londoners will need time to recover from the effects of Abramovich selling up.
This is because the Blues’ peers feel whoever comes in next will need time to adapt and spending will have be reigned in.
The Mirror also state there are doubts over whether a joint ownership model would work as well as a single owner like Abramovich did at the helm.
Elsewhere, Chelsea will lobby the Government to lift its bizarre ban on them selling tickets to home Premier League games.
The club is baffled by the decision to single out home league matches when they now have the go-ahead to flog seats at Champions League games.
Chelsea plans to go back to the Government to seek further guidance and clarification in the hope of a U-turn.
Fans have reacted angrily to the confusing move by the Government.
Finally, Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger wants to speak to the new Manchester United manager before deciding on his future.
BILD journalist Christian Falk believes the German international would be open to a move to Old Trafford, but first wants to hear from the club’s new coach on their vision for the coming seasons.
Rudiger would like to Talk with the new Coach before…”
    Chelsea plan ticket challenge
Chelsea will lobby the Government to lift its bizarre ban on them selling tickets to home Premier League games.
The club is baffled by the decision to single out home league matches when they now have the go-ahead to flog seats at Champions League games.
Chelsea plans to go back to the Government to seek further guidance and clarification in the hope of a U-turn.
Fans have reacted angrily to the confusing move by the Government.
The Chelsea Supporters Trust issued a statement which read: “The Trust will urgently seek clarification from the DCMS & Chelsea FC on why CFC members will not be able to purchase tickets to home Premier League fixtures at Stamford Bridge.
“The sanctions were not brought in to punish supporters – this decision is illogical and unfounded.”

According to 90min, Jurgen Klopp’s side would be willing to hand Origi an extension, despite his lack of game time.
But they add that the striker believes it is time to leave Anfield in order to pursue more regular first team football.
Origi, who joined Liverpool in 2014, gathered iconic status during the 2018-19 campaign by scoring a number of vital goals.
His strikes included efforts against Everton and Barcelona, as well as the clincher in the Champions League final against Tottenham.

Origi also has interest from Spain and Germany – as well as the Premier League.

The forward is eager to gain more first-team opportunities, with the Qatar World Cup looming this winter.
He has played just 71 minutes of Premier League football this season across five substitute appearances, with the additions of Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota in recent years pushing him even further down the pecking order.
Klopp has previously referred to Origi as a Liverpool “legend”.
But it appears he’ll be losing the front man to Serie A this summer.

Alonso, 31, has made 34 appearances across all competitions this season – primarily because of Ben Chilwell’s devastating long-term injury.
With Chilwell set to return as first choice by next season, his deputy could look to return to his homeland.
Quizzed about a potential transfer while on international duty, the Spaniard said: “I would love to play in LaLiga, all my life I have wanted to play and be here in Spain, but the circumstances have been different and not everything has depended on me.
“At the moment I am focused on this season and what has to be, will be.”

The crisis-hit Blues are already set to lose a number of defenders this summer – with Antonio Rudiger, Cesar Azpilicueta and Andreas Christensen all entering the last three months of their respective deals.
Chelsea are currently unable to negotiate new contracts, amid sanctions placed on owner Roman Abramovich.

Alonso has made just ONE LaLiga appearance in his career, as a late substitute for Real Madrid in 2010.
He subsequently signed for Bolton later that year, before joining Fiorentina in 2013 and Chelsea in 2016.
Alonso had fallen out of favour under Frank Lampard, before being brought back into the fold by Thomas Tuchel.
The left wing-back hailed the German’s impact, while taking a swipe at his predecessor.
He added: “Since he (Tuchel) arrived, the team took a leap tactically and when it came to defending. We are very happy with it.
“We were a very balanced team. In these close qualifiers, the little details make the difference.
“We were a team in every way. We defended very well, we were an uncomfortable team to play with, we defended all eleven and the small details made the difference.
“At this point in the Champions League everything is very even and it depends on very small details.”

However, tickets for matches at Stamford Bridge will only be available to season ticket holders and away fans.
And the takeover of Chelsea is edging closer, with just two bids reportedly left standing.

    Ricketts family issue statement
The Ricketts family have released a statement that they’re still keen on buying Chelsea.
The family addressed Blues fans in the statement and stated that they had listened to the West London club’s supporters fears.
Tom Ricketts said: “My family and I are very grateful to all of the fans and supporters’ groups who took time to meet with us this week and share their passion and concerns for Chelsea Football Club.
“It’s clear you have nothing but the best interests of the club at heart. We have listened to all of your feedback – including from the Chelsea Supporters’ Trust – and are grateful that the door is still open for us to demonstrate our commitment to working with fans to protect the club’s heritage.

Rudiger would like to Talk with the new Coach before…”
    Chelsea plan ticket challenge
    Two to go
Seb Coe is among the frontrunners as the race to buy Chelsea hots up.
The Olympic track legend and diehard Blues fan is part of a consortium going head-to-head with American Todd Boehly.
Several bidders were told on Thursday they had not made the shortlist to take over at the crisis-hit Premier League giants.
They included former US diplomat Woody Johnson, the Saudi Media Group, London finance firm Aethel and colourful Turkish investor Muhsin Bayrak.
Individual groups have been steadily learning their fate over the last 24 hours as a process of elimination begins to find new owners for one of the biggest clubs in world football.
Candy ruled out of Chelsea bidding
Nick Candy is the latest Chelsea bidder who has been ruled out of buying the club.
Blues fan Candy along with Woody Johnson haven’t been shortlisted as potential buyers, according to The Athletic.
The news comes just hours after the Saudi Media Group was also ruled of the bidding.
    Americans lead Chelsea hunt
Chelsea are in line to have American owners if reports are anything to go by.
The two groups leading the race to acquire the Blues are led by US billionaires, according to the Financial Times.
Todd Boehly heads up the Los Angeles Dodgers ownership group.
And the other investment group is led by Josh Harris and David Blitzer, two private equity billionaires who own the Philadelphia 76ers, New Jersey Devils, and several other soccer clubs through Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment.
    Alonso wants La Liga transfer
Chelsea star Marcos Alonso is hoping for a move to the La Liga when his contract ends next summer.
And he revealed that he wouldn’t mind playing for Barcelona, Real, or Atletico Madrid.
He said to AS: “I would love to play in La Liga, all my life I have wanted to play and be here in Spain, but the circumstances have been different and not everything has depended on me.
“At the moment I am focused on this season and what has to be, will be.
When asked about a potential switch to any of the Spanish trio he raved: “Yes, yes, I have family ties on all sides… Chelsea right now. I have a contract for this and one more season.”
    Rudiger price revealed
Man United will have to depart with £25million plus add-ons to recruit Chelsea star Antonio Rudiger.
Rudiger looks set to leave Stamford Bridge when his contract ends in the summer.
But the German’s representatives are demanding any interested parties cough up a £25m signing on fee plus £5m-a-year in wages after tax.
That’s according to journalist Duncan Castles who said on the Transfer Window Podcast: “The price that his representatives are asking for is €30million signing on fee and a basic wage of at least €6m after-tax each year.”
    Chelsea’s Champions League plan
Chelsea star Marcos Alonso has revealed that the Blues will be treating every game in the Champions League like a final.
He said: “There are no easy matches in the Champions League and even less so in these knockout ties.
“All the teams are heavy-hitters and from now on, every game will be played with the importance of a final.”
    Winterburn on Tammy Abraham
Arsenal legend Nigel Winterburn reckons Tammy Abraham would’ve been a perfect signing for Arsenal before he left Chelsea to join Roma.
Speaking to FreeSuperTips, Winterburn said: ‘Back in the summer when he was moving, there was a link with Arsenal, I don’t know how strong, but he fits into the bill of what Arsenal were trying to do.’
‘A young player with huge potential, so my opinion doesn’t change that he would have been a great option for Arsenal.
    Chelsea recovery scrutinized
Chelsea could take TWO YEARS to recover from being sold by Roman Abramovich.
    Lukaku’s Inter return dismissed
Romelu Lukaku’s chances of returning to Inter Milan this summer are slim despite the Belgian reportedly personally offering his services to the Serie A club.
That’s according to Italian journalist Fabrizio Biasin who claims Inter’s chiefs don’t share Lukaku’s enthusiasm over him coming back to Italy.
Biasin said on Twitch: “He personally made himself known to the Inter managers, he tried to understand if there are any possibilities to return.”
“But the chances right now are really minimal. He earns a lot. He would be willing to cut his salary, but a deal worth over €100 million was made, it is difficult to think they can loan him back.
“Also because Lukaku has two offers from those who would like to invest in him, in the Premier League.”

Bruno Fernandes new contract EXCLUSIVE, Ten Hag ‘comes through Man Utd interview with flying colours’

BRUNO FERNANDES has been handed a new Manchester United contract worth £240,000 a week, SunSport can exclusively reveal. The United midfielder, 27, has been convinced to sign till 2027 at United after discussions with Old Trafford chiefs over the future of the club.
The France star has admitted he hasn’t been satisfied at all during his five years at Old Trafford.

    Aguero makes bold claim
Former Man City ace Sergio Aguero has claimed that everyone in England supports Man United.
Aguero made the claim whilst watching his goal for City against QPR when the Citizens won the Prem in the 2011/12 season.
The 33-year-old said: “People, you don’t know what it’s like in England.
“In England, everybody, all the journalists, all the TV channels, everybody, they’re all Manchester United supporters. Everybody!”
    Woolston makes Man United return
Paul Woolston posed with Manchester United’s goalkeepers at Carrington the day after being forced to retire aged just 23.
The former Newcastle youngster announced he was quitting the beautiful game after an unknown injury forced him into two operations.
And Woolston was welcomed by United’s current senior stoppers as he visited Carrington on Thursday.
David De Gea, Dean Henderson, Tom Heaton and Lee Grant all posed for a touching picture with a smiling Woolston.

    ‘United should be considering Zidane’
Ally McCoist is baffled as to why Man United aren’t pursuing Zinedine Zidane to become their new manager.
    Prem giants Araujo transfer boost
Barcelona are keeping tabs on Napoli star Kalidou Koulibaly ahead of the summer transfer window, reports suggest.
According to Calciomercato, Barca consider Koulibaly as a potential replacement for Ronald Araujo – who has been linked with Manchester United and Chelsea.
That will come as a major transfer boost for both United and the Blues as the Blaugrana understand there is a possibility of losing Araujo and are thinking ahead.
The centre-back’s contract runs out in 2023 and the Nou Camp outfit is working hard to seal a renewal.
United are reportedly planning a ‘big investment’ for the Uruguay international after a poor season that has seen captain Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof and Eric Bailly all struggle.
Chelsea have also been linked, although they currently can’t sign or sell players after departing owner Roman Abramovich was hit with sanctions by the Government.
    James on Liverpool’s Rashford interest
Ex-liverpool star David James reckons Man United striker Marcus Rashford would do well at Liverpool.
He told GGRecon: “I just think he’s got all the attributes to be a false-nine, through-the-middle player, rather than being stuck out wide.
“Therefore, again, when you look at the likes of Liverpool’s fluidity, he could actually play wide, and in the middle, and essentially do anything he wants to do if he was playing in that Liverpool side.
“I don’t think he’s afforded that with Manchester United with their reliance on the likes of [Cristiano] Ronaldo going down the middle. In a theoretical world, if you took the rivalry out of the equation, I would snap him up straight away.
“I think he could be a valuable asset to Liverpool.”
    Diego Forlan speaks on Fred
Man United legend Diego Forlan has recalled playing alongside Red Devils star Fred at Brazilian side Internacional.
Forlan said to United’s media: “He [Fred] had his debut when I was there at Internacional.
“We played together just one, one-and-a-half years, I think. Since I arrived there, I think, for one year and a half and was playing a little bit forward in midfield.
“He scored goals in those moments, I know he’s little bit away from being close to the goal now but he has a couple of goals for United.
“In that moment, he was just closer to the goal and he had some goals for Internacional.”
    Ferdinand slams Man United lies
Rio Ferdinand has shut down talks of him joining the Manchester United backroom staff by labelling the reports “mad lies”.
peaking on his YouTube channel FIVE, he said: “I’ve been online and I’m meant to be – I’ve put myself forward – for the assistant manager’s job at Man Utd.
    Defoe on failed United transfer
Jermaine Defoe has opened up about his failed move to Man United but admits he tries not to regret it.
The veteran striker who’s called time on his playing career recalled to talkSPORT: “I remember speaking to Man Utd.
“I spoke to the Man Utd boys years later, they said they thought I was coming which would’ve been amazing given the trophies that were won with Sir Alex Ferguson.
“But I try not to regret it as everything happens for a reason.
“I remember my agent saying there was interest from Italy which would have been a great experience but I ended up going back to Tottenham.”
    Ten Hag wants Dutch connections
Erik Ten Hag wants a Dutch coach with Manchester United connections if he takes the Old Trafford job, according to reports.
The Ajax boss, 52, is the new favourite to be Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s permanent successor.
They would provide wisdom and understanding of what it means to be at the club – and have a “bond” with the squad, staff and fans.
The report names Dutchman Ten Hag’s compatriot trio Robin van Persie, Jaap Stam and Ruud van Nistelrooy as potential candidates.
    Donny neglect ‘a mortal sin’
Yet another top coach has hit out at Manchester United’s mistreatment of Donny van de Beek – only this time it’s the Red Devils’ prospective boss, Erik ten Hag.
In an interview that has emerged from December, the Ajax boss spoke solemnly about the Dutchman’s situation at Old Trafford.
Speaking to de Volkskrant (via talkSPORT), Ten Hag said: “Donny, I find that hard. [It’s a] mortal sin.
“If you haven’t had a chance yet, then development will also stall.
Van de Beek started just four Premier League games in 17 months under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, and then Ralf Rangnick.
Should Ten Hag take charge at United, it will be interesting to see whether Van de Beek features prominently following the return from his loan spell at Everton.
