    Mata thanks United fans
Juan Mata has sent a classy farewell message to Manchester United fans.
The former Chelsea midfielder, 34, will leave United as a free agent this month.
In a social media video message, he said: “I wanted to say thank you very much to all of you for your support over the years and especially during the difficult times that we lived together.
“I will never forget you. Thank you very much. All the best from the bottom of my heart and goodbye.”
    Martinez ‘to stay at Inter’
Chelsea target Lautaro Martinez says he wants to stay at Inter Milan.
The 24-year-old striker scored the opener on Wednesday as Argentina beat Italy 3-0 in the inaugural Finalissima.
Afterwards he said: “My plan is clear – I really want to stay at Inter next season.
“I’ve not received communications from the club as of today and I want to continue at Inter next season.”
    Palmieri ready for Chelsea return
Italy left-back Emerson Palmieri says he is ready to return to Chelsea after his loan spell at Lyon.
The defender started for his country as they lost 3-0 to Argentina in Finalissima on Wednesday.
On plans to reignite his career at Stamford Bridge, the 27-year-old said: “‘For me personally it’s been a good season, I played a lot of games. Let’s see what happens in the future.
“I have a contract with Chelsea. I’ve played there for three years and won some things. If I need to go back there I’m happy.”
    Rudiger to Real Madrid confirmed
Real Madrid have officially signed centre-half Antonio Rudiger from Chelsea on a free transfer.
A Blues statement read: “We bid farewell to Antonio Rudiger as he departs Stamford Bridge with his Chelsea contract expiring, bringing to a close his five trophy-filled years with the club.

Chelsea star Antonio Rudiger has completed his expected move to Real Madrid
    Chelsea target impresses for Argentina
Chelsea target Lautaro Martinez impressed for Argentina in their 3-0 win over Italy in Finalissima on Wednesday.
Inter Milan forward Martinez scored the opener and then set-up Angel di Maria for the second goal.
The 24-year-old bagged 23 goals for Inter this season and is now reportedly on Chelsea’s radar – with Inter keen on bringing back Romelu Lukaku back to the San Siro from the Blues.
    Messi assessment of Jorginho
Lionel Messi has described Chelsea midfielder Jorginho as a “complicated” player to face.
Argentina legend Messi squared off against Italy’s Jorginho as the South Americans enjoyed a 3-0 win in Finalissima on Wednesday.
Jorginho was out-of-sorts with a number of stray passes, but Paris Saint-Germain star Messi admitted he is always a difficult rival.
In his post-match interview, he told reporters: “The first half was a bit complicated for us because we couldn’t find a way around Jorginho, who played a bit free and that made it difficult for us to get the ball.”
    Lukaku will ‘accept pay cut’
Unsettled Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku is ready to take a huge pay cut to secure a return to Inter Milan, according to Sportsmail.
The Belgium star will reportedly accept a weekly wage drop to about £125,000-a-week, which would cut his yearly take-home from about £6.4million at the Blues to closer to £3m at Inter.
Lukaku rejoined Chelsea last summer for £97.5m from Inter but had an underwhelming campaign and courted controversy by saying he wanted to leave.
    Sterling ‘should avoid Chelsea move’
David James says Raheem Sterling would be better off staying at Manchester City rather than joining Chelsea.
England winger Sterling has been linked with a move to the Blues or Real Madrid.
Former Three Lions No 1 James, 51, told GGRecon: “[He should] stay at City!
“It is a testament to how well Raheem Sterling has done that he has been linked to two massive European champions.
“You do question – given how soon the World Cup is, and what can happen with a move with Manchester to London for example – whether that adjustment could affect form.”
    Morning, Chelsea fans
The Blues are rated favourites for Jules Kounde – but face losing up to four defenders to Barcelona.
Sevilla’s France centre-back Kounde, 23. is also wanted by Arsenal.
But Chelsea’s need is greater – along with their bargaining position after Todd Boehly’s £4.25billion takeover.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid are in pole position for Antonio Rudiger.
Barca and Juventus, though, are also keen on the out-of-contract central defender.
Barcelona are still being linked even more strongly to Andreas Christensen, Cesar Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso.
That, however, means the Blues could have leverage for their interest in Barca’s USA full-back Sergino Dest.
And Chelsea transfer chief Marina Granovskaia is reportedly set to LEAVE in August
Atletico Madrid transfer guru Andrea Berti is tipped to replace the 47-year-old.
Blues poised to oust transfer chief Granovskaia
Chelsea transfer chief Marina Granovskaia is set to LEAVE Stamford Bridge in August, according to reports.
The 47-year-old is set to be replaced by Atletico Madrid transfer guru Andrea Berti, report German paper Bild.
News of Granovskaia’s potential exit follows Todd Boehly’s £4.25bn takeover being completed.
The Russian first joined the Blues in 2010, before becoming a member of the board three years later.
    Romelu eyes Inter return
Romelu Lukaku has reportedly agreed a sensational return to Inter Milan less than a year after re-joining Chelsea.
The west Londoners forked out a club-record fee of £97.5million to bring the Belgium international back to Stamford Bridge last summer.
Lukaku, however, has found himself on the outskirts of Thomas Tuchel’s starting XI due to his poor form.
And according to Gazzetta dello Sport, the striker is on the brink of sealing a return to the San Siro.
They claim the Serie A giants have reached an agreement to pay Lukaku’s £6.39million wages in a loan deal.
Lukaku, 28, is said to have 15 days to convince Chelsea’s lawyers to accept the proposal.
    Ben’s Hot date
Chelsea left-back Ben Chilwell has been spotted hand-in-hand with stunning TV star Holly Scarfone, writes GIACOMO PISA.

Chilwell, 25, and Holly, 23, were seen linking hands in Los Angeles, where the England international is currently holidaying.
They grabbed dinner at the plush Nice Guy restaurant before moving on to party at luxury nightclub Bootsy Bellows.
Model and influencer Holly shot to fame after appearing on season three of the hit Netflix show Too Hot To Handle, which aired earlier this year.
She made it to the final of the programme with co-star Nathan Soan, but the couple split up shortly after exiting the show.

Should Foden win the award again, he will join Dele Alli in being one of only five players to have won the award in consecutive seasons. Ryan Giggs did it at United in 1993, Robbie Fowler in 1996 and Wayne Rooney a decade later.
    PFA shortlist revealed
Manchester United legend Cristiano Ronaldo has received a shock nomination for the PFA Player of the Year award.

Chelsea head Arsenal and other European giants in the hunt for Jules Kounde, Spanish outlet Sport claim.
Barcelona could take centre-backs Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen from the Blues – and perhaps even wide defenders Marcos Alonso and Cesar Azpilicueta.
So backline reinforcements will be central to Chelsea chief Thomas Tuchel’s summer plans.
And Sport suggest the Blues are ‘working’ on a deal for Sevilla’s France star Kounde, 23.

    Blues’ Dest intentions
Chelsea could rev up their interest in Sergino Dest – as his club Barcelona want Blues’ defenders Marcos Alonso and Cesar Azpilicueta.
Holland-born USA star Dest, 21, who has 17 caps, joined Barca from Ajax in 2020.
    Bit of a Con…
Chelsea have hailed their 22-year-old England stars Reece James and Conor Gallagher for making the PFA Young Player of the Year shortlist.
But midfielder Gallagher, a loan sensation with Crystal Palace, has yet to play a senior game for Chelsea.
And his future remains in doubt as he’ll surely want regular football next term to strengthen his bid to make Gareth Southgate’s squad for this winter’s World Cup in Qatar.

The Portuguese legend was criticised for failing to adapt to the team’s tactics.
    Jesus deal ‘back on’
Arsenal could again be nearing a £51million swoop for Gabriel Jesus.
Manchester City’s Brazil striker has shot back into transfer speculation today.
And that’s not just because Prem champs City have signed fellow frontmen Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez.
Rodrigo Oliveira of Radio Gaucha told Calciomercato Arsenal are ‘very close’ to signing the 25-year-old – as they line up a ‘great offer’ for the Sao Paulo-born superstar.
Lazio ready to fight Utd for Loftus-Cheek
Lazio could duel Manchester United for Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

    Mata thanks United fans
Juan Mata has sent a classy farewell message to Manchester United fans.
The former Chelsea midfielder, 34, will leave United as a free agent this month.

Allegri told DAZN: “Paulo needs to go back to being himself. There was a time where he got all carried out by those who labeled him as ‘the new Messi’.

    Di Maria shines for Argentina
Angel Di Maria continues to prove his disappointing year at Manchester United was just a blip in his otherwise stellar career.
The mercurial midfielder shone alongside Lionel Messi as Argentina beat Italy 3-0 in Finalissima on Wednesday.
Di Maria, 34, is regarded as one of the Red Devils’ most disappointing signings after arriving for £60million in August 2014 from Real Madrid.
But after picking up his fifth Ligue 1 winner’s medal with Paris Saint-Germain this spring it is fair to say he has underlined the maxim that form is temporary – but class is permanent.
    Parker: Garner needs another loan
Manchester United legend Paul Parker says Red Devils prospect James Garner would benefit from another loan move to a Prem club next season.
The 21-year-old midfielder has been on a temporary placement at Nottingham Forest and helped fire the Reds to promotion via the Championship play-offs last month.
Former Red Devils defender Parker, 58, told BonusCodeBets: “I think he needs to go on a loan.
“Should it be in the Premier League? Yes, it has to be I think for his own sanity, to be given the opportunity to play in that league.”

Brentford have joined the growing list of suitors for Norwich full-back Max Aarons.
Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand recently urged the Red Devils to sign the ex-Luton star, who has also been linked with a move to Leeds United.
Now Bees boss Thomas Frank has reportedly added the versatile wing-back to his summer transfer shortlist.
    Morning, United fans
Recruiting Frenkie de Jong could be much tougher than saying goodbye to Paul Pogba.
United have opened talks with Barcelona on a £50million swoop for Holland midfielder De Jong and confirmed £89m enigma Pogba is departing on a free transfer.
Former Ajax hero FDJ wants to stay at cash-strapped Barca – but they need him out to fund a squad revamp.
Meanwhile, United ‘congratulated’ their outgoing French World Cup winner Pogba. 29, for his ‘successful career’ at Old Trafford.
Juventus are favourites to re-sign the 29-year-old, although PSG are also interested.
England midfielder Jesse Lingard is also leaving United, following Edinson Cavani and Nemanja Matic out.
But Three Lions’ striker Marcus Rashford is now tipped to stay – with a fresh start under new manager Erik ten Hag.
Several other stars are tipped to go, though.
Centre-back Phil Jones and frontman Anthony Martial look the most vulnerable, while second-choice keeper Dean Henderson expecting at least a loan exit.
But Spanish playmaker Juan Mata could win a final year’s swansong.
    Wolves ‘want £60m for Neves’
Wolves want Sporting Lisbon duo Matheus Nunes and Joao Palhinha — if £60million Manchester United target Ruben Neves is sold this summer.
Barcelona also want ex-Porto midfielder, Neves, 25.
Wolves have held initial talks over deals for Neves’ Portugal team-mates Palhinha, 26, and Nunes, 23.
Jones and Henderson could join Utd ‘exodus’
Paul Pogba will be Manchester United’s third big-name exit on a free transfer – and there could be at least five more significant departures.
Edinson Cavani and Nemanja Matic have already gone, with Jesse Lingard to follow.
Centre-back Phil Jones looks the most vulnerable of the rest, while second-choice keeper Dean Henderson is tipped for at least a loan move.
Spanish playmaker Juan Mata, 34, could yet win another year’s contract.
But frontrunners Anthony Martial – who finished the season on loan to Sevilla and Marcus Rashford – floundered when trying to impress interim chief Ralf Rangnick.
    Rio grand honour
Ex-England ace Rio Ferdinand is among a string of sports stars to get a gong in the Queen’s Jubilee Honours.
The former Manchester United defender gets an OBE for his activism and charity work helping disadvantaged kids.
Other winners include Gareth Bale, made an MBE days before he attempts to send Wales to the World Cup for the first time in 64 years.
Liverpool ace James Milner also gets an MBE, along with England cricketer Moeen Ali.
Team GB’s Olympic gold-winning curling captain Eve Muirhead is awarded an OBE. Her triumphant Beijing team-mates Vicky Wright, Jennifer Dodds, Hailey Duff and Mili Smith, plus the head coach David Murdoch, all get an MBE.
Utd starlets snubbed for PFA gong
THE PFA Young Player of the Year shortlist has been announced with a number of top Premier League stars nominated.
Chelsea‘s Reece James will be rivalled by fellow England international and Premier League winner Phil Foden.
Arsenal duo Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe have also been nominated.
On-loan Chelsea star Conor Gallagher has been recognised, as has Aston Villa‘s Jacob Ramsey.
Foden is the frontrunner, having picked up his fourth Prem crown.
The 22-year-old made 28 Prem appearances this term, scoring nine and assisting five. Across all competitions, Foden reached double figures in both goals and assists.
Should Foden win the award again, he will join Dele Alli in being one of only five players to have won the award in consecutive seasons. Ryan Giggs did it at United in 1993, Robbie Fowler in 1996 and Wayne Rooney a decade later.
Theatre of Dreams? Fantasy, more like
THEY call it the Theatre of Dreams yet Manchester United’s famous home has surely now become a place of pure fantasy, writes KEN LAWRENCE.
Or at least that is the conclusion many of the club’s fans came to following yesterday’s gushing goodbye to Paul Pogba.
The Frenchman will, as has been long expected, leave on a free transfer at the end of this month.
There were few tears for souvenirs at the free transfer loss of the £89million record buy who returned in 2016.
Big Hag-gle to make Frenkie welcome
New Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag is determined to make Barcelona hero Frenkie De Jong welcome.
But the Dutch midfielder may need more persuading to leave than Barca do to let him go.
The financially-crippled Spanish club need to cut costs and manager Xavi is understood to be prepared to let him leave.
Yet De Jong, 25, said this week he still believes he is at his “dream” club and wants to stay.
Ten Hag hopes he can convince him to change his mind, with Barca wanting the £65.4m they paid Ajax in 2019 — though United believe they can cut that fee significantly.
Utd open talks with Barca on £50m De Jong deal
Manchester United have opened talks with Barcelona in a £50million bid for Frenkie de Jong — as they issued a gushing farewell to £200m flop Paul Pogba, writes KEN LAWRENCE.
Pogba departs Old Trafford as one of the costliest under-achievers in the club’s history.
Once wages and bonuses are added to his £89m club-record fee, United will have forked out more than £200m on Pogba at a cost of over £800,000 a game.
The 29-year-old is now expected to return to Juventus on a free transfer, though Paris Saint-Germain have shown an interest.
He joined Jesse Lingard in being confirmed as departing Old Trafford.
    Rashford backed to stay
Marcus Rashford is tipped to stay at Manchester United.
The £63million-rated England striker, 24, only started six Premier League matches in 2022.
He’s denied being frustrated at his childhood club.
But speculation has grown over his limited opportunities and erratic performances.
Now, though, journalist Jacque Talbot predicts Rashford will stay to start afresh under new manage Erik ten Hag.

    Cheeky Devil?
Lazio could duel Manchester United for Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek.
The ten-cap England star, 26, has revived his Blues’ career this season under Thomas Tuchel.

And  Italian outlet Gazzetta Dello Sport says ex-Blues’ chief Maurizio Sarri is ready to rev up his interest in a reunion with Loftus-Cheek, who might cost at least £17million.
    Fight for Aarons and Hickey
Brentford have put ‘Manchester United target’ Max Aarons and Arsenal-linked Aaron Hickey on their transfer shortlist.
Bees boss Thomas Frank has made the full-backs his top priority.
Aarons, 22, is tipped to leave relegated Norwich to stay in the Premier League.
And Bologna’s Scotland left-back star Hickey, 19, is also wanted by the Gunners – for around £21.25million.
    Wolves line up Neves replacements
Wolves want Sporting Lisbon duo Matheus Nunes and Joao Palhinha — if £60million Manchester United target Ruben Neves is sold this summer.
Barcelona also want ex-Porto midfielder, Neves, 25.
Wolves have held initial talks over deals for Neves’ Portugal team-mates Palhinha, 26, and Nunes, 23.
Pogba exit could mean EIGHT stars leaving
    Utd in ‘£47m Sergej bid’
Manchester United have turned their interest in Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic into a £46.7million bid.
That’s the claim from Italian outlet Il Tempo, who rate the Red Devils favourites for the Serbia star.
But Lazio are said to rate the former Genk ace, 27, at £76.5m.
    Torres is Carmo alternative
Villarreal centre-back Pau Torres is rated a back-up option if Manchester United miss out on Braga’s David Carmo.
Spaniard Torres, 25, capped 17 times, helped his LaLiga club win the Europa League in 2021, ultimately beating the Red Devils on penalties.
The Yellow Submarine also made the Champions League semis this term with Torres ever-present.
Utd ‘in Carmo talks’ in case Timber move collapses
Manchester United have reportedly held talks over Braga centre-back David Carmo in case a deal for Justin Timber collapses.
The Red Devils are in the market for a new defender with new boss Erik ten Hag hoping to bring Timber with him from Ajax.
But United have held talks with 22-year-old Carmo, according to the Daily Mail.

Carmo was a transfer target for Liverpool last season and nearly made the switch to Anfield but the deal collapsed.
The centre-back helped Braga to a fourth-placed finish, qualifying for next season’s Europa League.
His fine form has earned Carmo a call-up to Portugal’s squad for their June Nations League fixtures.
Ron in, Son out for top PFA gong
Manchester United legend Cristiano Ronaldo has received a shock nomination for the PFA Player of the Year award.
But there is no room for Tottenham ace Son Heung-Min, despite the South Korean finishing as joint-top scorer this season.

Manchester United could be one of those teams as they are also in need of a midfielder and have been linked to Tielemans.

The Bees played much of their maiden Prem season with only two natural senior full-backs – Rico Henry and Mads Roerslev.
Winger Sergi Canos often filled in, while centre-back Kristoffer Ajer came in at right-back in the final weeks of the campaign.
Speculation over 22-year-old Aarons’ future at Norwich is expected this summer after they were relegated back to the Championship.
Rio Ferdinand recently urged Manchester United to sign the ex-Luton star who has featured 165 times for the Canaries.

Bologna and Scotland youngster Aaron Hickey, 19, is capable of playing on either flank – but is wanted by Arsenal for around £21.25million.
The left-back position has been identified as one of the areas to improve, especially given Kieran Tierney’s recurring injury issues.
Hickey burst onto the scene in 2019 when he made his Hearts debut at the age of 16.
In September 2020 he signed for Bologna for around £1.5million, despite receiving interest from Bayern Munich.

Man Utd believe they can seal Frenkie de Jong transfer for £50m as Ten Hag picks Barcelona ace as Paul Pogba replacement

Once wages and bonuses are added to his £89m club-record fee, United will have forked out more than £200m on the French World Cup winner.
That adds up to a cost of over £800,000-a-game for a player who scored only 39 goals in 226 appearances.
The 29-year-old – who rejoined United in 2016 for his second spell at Old Trafford – is now expected to make a return to Juventus on a free transfer.

However the midfielder may need more persuading to leave than Barca do to let him go.
The financially-crippled Spanish club need to cut costs and boss Xavi us understood to be prepared to let the Dutch midfielder leave.
Yet De Jong, 25, said this week he still believes he is at his “dream” club and wants to stay.
Ten Hag is hopeful he can convince him to change his mind.
Barca will demand the £67m they paid Ajax in 2019, though United believe they can cut that asking price significantly. More

But the Spaniards will not part ways with Depay unless they can find a suitable attacker to fill his shoes.
Depay, 28, has just one year left on his Nou Camp deal despite only joining Barcelona from Lyon last June.
And Mikel Arteta reckons he can land a real bargain for Arsenal’s attack in the upcoming transfer window, allowing the club to focus the majority of their resources elsewhere.
Depay is thought to be keen on a Premier League return despite his horror career at Manchester United, where he scored just seven times in 53 games.

Reece battles Saka and Emile for PFA gong
THE PFA Young Player of the Year shortlist has been announced with a number of top Premier League stars nominated.
Chelsea’s Reece James will be rivalled by fellow England international and Premier League winner Phil Foden.
Arsenal duo Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe have also been nominated.
On-loan Chelsea star Conor Gallagher has been recognised, as has Aston Villa’s Jacob Ramsey.
Hick up to be first Gunners’ signing
Bologna left-back Aaron Hickey could be Arsenal’s first summer recruit after they reportedly bid £21.75million.
The ex-Hearts defender, 19, wold provide strong competition for injury-hit fellow Scotland star Kieran Tierney.
Hickey has racked up five goals in 48 games for his Serie A club.
Lucas plan to stay at Fiorentina hits snag
Lucas Torreira wants to stay at Fiorentina this summer.
But agent Pablo Bentancur is not optimistic and says: “It’s not over yet, but the chances of Lucas staying in Florence are very small.
“There is a contractual problem with Fiorentina and my priority is to find an agreement with them so he is not thinking about other teams for now.”
    Joining Arsenal a ‘fantasy’
New Arsenal goalkeeper Matt Turner has described his transfer to North London as a “fantasy”.
Arriving from New England Revolution this summer, the American told The Athletic: “You can imagine this stuff, but only in a fantasy.
“You know that it’s never actually going to happen. Thinking about all the little things along the way that had to break for this to be possible, all the signs and all the omens, it’s all crazy.
“It’s really crazy. I never thought that this would actually happen for me. I’m just so excited and blessed.”
    Gunners duo nominated for award
Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe have BOTH been nominated for the PFA Young Player of the Year award.
The duo join Conor Gallagher, Phil Foden, Reece James and Jacob Ramsey on the shortlist.
The winner will be announced on Thursday, June 9.
    Arsenal goalkeeper opens up
New Arsenal keeper Matt Turner has admitted that he will have to adapt his game to fit in at the North London squad.
The American, who arrives from New England Revolution, told The Athletic: “I have to train at a higher level.
“The style of play with the Revolution is mighty old school. If there’s pressure, we don’t really try to play out of it too much.
“At Arsenal, the goalkeepers are required to play a little bit more with the ball, playing in the system rather than just sort of going out there.
“They have to follow tactics and game plans a little more closely. Those are things that I know are valued with the national team that I’ll be challenged more with Arsenal.
“In December and January, I got to spend weeks at a time with the national team in buildup to games. And in all those games, I feel like I was pretty solid with the ball at my feet.
“Apart from the one blip in Canada, pretty solid connecting passes, making the right decisions. And then I don’t train exactly like that when I’m with the Revs, so I lose it. I get it for a couple of weeks, then I lose it. Now I’ll be training that way all the time.”
    Ben Foster wants Arsenal move
Former England goalkeeper Ben Foster has admitted that he would like to sign for Arsenal this summer.
The 39-year-old said on the Fozcast: “If I’m signing for a club as a number two goalkeeper, it depends on the first-choice goalkeeper.
“Say Arsenal or Aston Villa, where the first-choice goalkeeper I know is a world-class goalkeeper – Ramsdale or Martinez – I know I have a world-class goalkeeper in front of me, who’s still at an age where they are learning and they can get there because they’ve got the potential.
“At that point, I will go ‘I’m going to help you maximise your ability and make sure you become an absolute monster or beast’.
“I’d love to be able to do that. I would love to do that.”
    Scotland missing Arsenal star
The Tartan Army’s World Cup quest continues tonight… WITHOUT star full-back Kieran Tierney.
Steve Clarke’s side host Ukraine this evening aiming to book a place in Sunday’s play-off final against Wales in Cardiff.
Arsenal ace Tierney will NOT be available, due to the knee injury he suffered in March.
The left-back is aiming to return to fitness in time for pre-season.
    Lucas Torreira eager to LEAVE
The Uruguayan cost Arsenal £26million when he joined from Sampdoria in 2018 as one of Unai Emery’s first signings for the club.
But while he was a first team regular during Emery’s 18 months in charge, he was unable to impress new boss Arteta and has not played for Arsenal for two years.
He spent an unsuccessful season on loan at Atletico Madrid in 2020-21 and a much more productive time back in Italy with Fiorentina.
Arsenal have already made it clear that he has no future at the Emirates after recently handing his number 11 shirt to Gabriel Martinelli.
But now they need to sort out a transfer fee before his contract enters its final 12 months and his transfer value completely collapses.
    Torreira’s agent’s Fiorentina doubts
Lucas Torreira wants to stay at Fiorentina this summer.
But agent Pablo Bentancur is not optimistic and says: “It’s not over yet, but the chances of Lucas staying in Florence are very small.
“There is a contractual problem with Fiorentina and my priority is to find an agreement with them so he is not thinking about other teams for now.”
    Lucas Torreira reveals transfer plans
Uruguayan star has told Arsenal he wants to stay with Fiorentina even though the Italians have failed to trigger their option to buy him.
The midfielder has just completed a successful season on loan at the Artemio Franchi stadium, helping the club to finish seventh in Serie A and qualify for the Europa Conference League.
Coach Vincenzo Italiano is keen to keep Torreira at Fiorentina but the option to sign him permanently for £12.5million expired on Tuesday.
Now Fiorentina are trying to negotiate Arsenal’s asking price down because they know he does not figure in Mikel Arteta’s plans and only has a year remaining on his £75,000-a-week Emirates contract.
Torreira told supporters: “My intention is to stay at Fiorentina, but the club will need to find an agreement with Arsenal.
“I am very happy in Italy and in Florence.”
    Wilshere on coaching dreams
Jack Wilshere has outlined his ambitions to be a coach.
The former Arsenal ace told the Standard: “I’d love to sit here and say I want to be England manager, I want to be Arsenal manager.
“But I am not stupid enough to think that just happens. You have to go and start somewhere, learn your trade, build yourself up.
“I’ve got a big desire to coach and become successful at that. You look at the managers who have been successful in the last five or six years, they started young, so I just think, why not?”
    Wilshere and Arteta ‘opposites’
Former Gunner Jack Wilshere has admitted that he was the “complete opposite” of current boss Mikel Arteta at Arsenal.
Speaking to the Standard, he said: “I was the naughty one and he was the teacher’s pet.
“When I was back at Arsenal, Manuel Almunia was there.
“I went over to him when he was talking to Mikel and we were chatting.
“He said to me, ‘Are you the same Jack?’ Mikel said, ‘No, he’s not. He’s the complete opposite.'”
    Mourinho hails Maitland-Niles
Jose Mourinho has said he will “miss” Ainsley Maitland-Niles after his loan spell with Roma came to an end.
Maitland-Niles spent the second half of the season in the Italian capital on a temporary deal from Arsenal.
The Arsenal man posted a picture of himself holding the Europa Conference League trophy to Instagram as he bid farewell to Roma.
He wrote: “Great way to end the season thank you to the Roma fans players and staff for embracing me and believing in me as one of their own for the short period of time spent at the club what an experience and to be a part of history with the club.”
Mourinho himself reposted the snap to his own Instagram account.
He said: “We will miss you. One of us.”
    Ramsdale reveals toughest opponent
Arsenal stopper has named Jamie Vardy as one of his most difficult opponents.
Speaking to David Seaman on “Seaman Says”, the Gunners No1 revealed: “I’ll leave out the elite strikers like Man City’s and Liverpool but Jamie Vardy, the first game I played against him, he charged me down two or three times goal kicks then he lobbed me from about 25 yards.
“The game after that was probably the first time where I was a bit worried I was playing against him, maybe I was overthinking rather than going in and playing, he’s definitely one.”
    Arsenal in Calvert-Lewin race
Newcastle are set to make a bid for Manchester United and Arsenal transfer target Dominic Calvert-Lewin, according to reports.
The striker, 25, had an injury-hit campaign and scored just five Premier League goals.
But he has proven himself a reliable goalscorer in the past and Newcastle boss Eddie Howe is after a mobile target man – with Calvert-Lewin fitting the bill.
Toon have funds to spend thanks to their Saudi ownership and could be prepared to meet Everton’s large demands, report The Mirror.
Everton will reportedly only sell if they receive a bid that matches their valuation of the striker – one which takes into account his importance to the club and his status as an England international.
    England No1 hails Ramsdale progress
Jordan Pickford has praised Three Lions team-mate Aaron Ramsdale for his encouraging debut season at Arsenal.
The Everton stopper said: “Yeah ‘Rams’ has had a really good season, first season at Arsenal and he’s been unbelievable.
“But for me, it’s always concentrating on yourself as well.
“You always want challenges, as a footballer, you always want to be getting pushed.
“I really enjoy those challenges, and I want to be number one for England for longer.
“You want other people playing well, you want other people pushing, so I think when we’re training together, we’re pushing each other every day to get better and better.”
    Arsenal stay in Tielemans hunt
Arsenal retain interest in Leicester ace Youri Tielemans despite missing out on the top four, according to reports.
The Gunners were believed to be closing in on the Belgian’s signature in a £40million deal, IF they secured a place in the Champions League.
Mikel Arteta and Co came fifth, but Fabrizio Romano reports that their “plans have not changed” with regards to Tielemans.
Negotiations could take a while, however, with two other clubs interested in signing the midfielder this summer.
    Bayern star up for grabs
Arsenal and Man United transfer target Corentin Tolisso is set to leave Bayern Munich when his contract expires this summer.
The Frenchman, 27, joined the German giants from Lyon in 2017.
During his five-year stint at the club he made 118 appearances across all competitions and scored 21 goals.
Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano announced the departure on Twitter, stating: “Official. Corentin Tolisso leaves FC Bayern on a free transfer, there’s no agreement to extend the contract and both parties decided to part ways immediately.
“Tolisso will be available as free agent this summer.”
The midfielder’s imminent departure offers a huge transfer boost to Arsenal and Man Utd, who are both in the race to sign him.
    Gunners in Palace transfer fight
Arsenal reportedly face a fight with club legend Patrick Vieira to sign Lens star Cheick Doucoure.
The 22-year-old has been in fine form in the French side’s midfield this term season, providing four assists and one goal in his 34 Ligue 1 appearances.
Now the Mali international allegedly wants a new challenge in England – and he’s not short of interest.
We reported previously how Arsenal were plotting a swoop for Doucoure.
The Gunners are planning a huge summer revamp this summer after missing out on Champions League football.
Boss Mikel Arteta is desperate for reinforcements and wants to add the star to his midfield.
However, The Telegraph claim that ex-Gunners captain Vieira has made Doucoure ‘his summer transfer window priority’ as he looks to continue improving Crystal Palace.
    Good morning Arsenal fans
Arsenal are hoping to put together a fire sale this coming summer.
SunSport exclusively revealed the Gunners are hoping to scrape together £60million from selling some outcasts.
Bernd Leno is one of seven players in for the chop at a knockdown price as he has fallen out of favour after Aaron Ramsdale’s emergence.
The North Londoners missed out on Champions League football and major funds that they need to collect in a different manner.
Meanwhile, Arsenal are edging closer to completing a deal for Bologna ace Aaron Hickey.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the Gunners are “pressing heavily” to land Hickey with an offer of £21.25million.
It appears the offer will be enough to get the deal across the line as the Serie A outfit are now said to be expecting a “very likely farewell”.
The North Londoners are looking to bolster their backline this summer after narrowly missing out on Champions League football.
The left-back position has been identified as one of the problematic areas to improve, especially given Kieran Tierney’s recurring injury problems.
And Arsenal look set to miss out on a £12.5million fee with Fiorentina struggling to stump up the price to land Lucas Torreira.
Torreira impressed during his loan spell with the Viola as he helped the club secure Europa Conference League football.
But the midfielder’s agent Pablo Bentancur has confirmed a potential move doesn’t look like it will happen.
Speaking to Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli, Bentancur said: “The chances of Lucas staying in Florence are very small – even if it’s not over yet.”
Finally, Everton star Richarlison admits he is pondering his future amid interest from Arsenal.
The forward said: “I’ve already made it clear to the board.
“I’ve already talked to [manager Frank] Lampard too, with my agents and they know what I want.
“Let’s wait for June. Now I can’t talk, because when we talk about leaving a club I’m kind of like this, because of the history I have at Everton, the affection that the fans have for me.
“When we talk about leaving I’m a little speechless”

    Arsenal new kit
Arsenal’s black away kit for the 2022-2023 season is expected to hit the shelves in July with fans loving the design.
Leaked pics of the rumoured jersey have emerged online which has sent social media into meltdown.
Snaps of the away jersey hit the internet in March, but the design has changed drastically to what it was previously thought to be.
Initial photos had the kit in an all-black stealth design, however new pictures show that is not the case.
The jersey is now black with an edgy pattern in the background of the top

    Mourinho targets Bellerin
Roma are eyeing up a shock swoop for Arsenal ace Hector Bellerin following his impressive loan spell at Real Betis.
Bellerin is facing an uncertain future at the Emirates with the player not believed to be in Mikel Arteta’s plans.
According to Calciomercato, the right-back is seen as someone who could provide competition for Rick Karsdorp at the Olimpico.
The Giallorossi are prepared to back Mourinho in the market and have promised him defensive reinforcements after he guided them to Europa Conference League glory
    Caitlin Foord reacts
Arsenal ace Caitlin Foord claims she “found herself again” at the Emirates.
Foord said: “It feels amazing. Since I joined this club, I’ve absolutely fallen in love with being here.
“I mentioned in one of my early interviews that I had lost my way in football a bit, but since being here I’ve absolutely fallen in love and found myself again.
“We’ve been inching towards winning lots of silverware and that’s definitely going to be the plan for next year.
“We want to win multiple trophies and I think with the squad, the team, the players and the support we have, we have the squad to be able to do it”

    Outgoing Pogba ‘feels privileged’
Paul Pogba says he ‘feels privileged’ to have played for Manchester United after they announced he’ll leave on a free transfer at the end of June..
The French World Cup winner, 29, has suffered erratic form and poor luck with injuries since returning to Old Trafford in 2016 for a club-record £89million.

In 233 appearances for Man Utd he recorded 39 goals and 51 assists.
He also helped the club to Europa League and EFL Cup success.
Now, in a heartfelt statement on Instagram, Pogba stated: “I feel privileged to have played for this club.
“Many beautiful moments and memories but most importantly an unconditional support from the fans. Thank you.”
There was no desire from Pogba or United to renew his current deal, which has less than a month remaining.
However, he is still expected to pick up over £1million in wages before he moves on.
    Red Devils confirm Lingard’s leaving
Manchester United have confirmed that Jesse Lingard will leave the club this summer.
The attacking midfielder is out of contract at the end of June.
And Lingard will depart Old Trafford on a free transfer, having joined his boyhood team aged 7 in 2000.

But the ace’s time at United ended on a sour note after his brother branded the club “classless” for not giving Lingard a send-off in front of fans on the field.
The FA Cup and Europa League winner was left on the bench against Brentford as Nemanja Matic, Edinson Cavani, Juan Mata and Phil Jones were greeted for the last time at the Theatre of Dreams.
But in a lengthy statement detailing his playing career and achievements, United thanked Lingard for all the “memories” while wishing him luck at his next club.
    Man United still owe Pogba
Paul Pogba is set to be paid more than £1million by Manchester United even after his exit was confirmed.
United announced the midfielder will leave the club when his contract expires at the end of the month.
But with four weeks left to go on his deal Pogba is set for one last bumper payday at Old Trafford.
The Frenchman reportedly earns £290,000 a week which means the Red Devils will have to fork out another £1.16m.
Pogba will not have to do anything to earn the money either and instead will be focused on picking his next club.
Man Utd boost in Neves chase
Wolves are closing in on signing Sporting Lisbon midfielder Joao Palhinha.
The Portuguese international – who is a new client of super-agent Jorge Mendes – was originally holding out for a bid from Manchester United.
Palhinha was even considering waiting until after his country’s Nations League fixtures were over on June 12.
But with interest from Old Trafford failing to materialise, SunSport understands the 26-year-old has agreed to join Wolves with the move expected to be confirmed in the coming days.
The fee is believed be around £20m on a long-term deal, with Mendes leading the negotiations.
Wolves boss Bruno Lage has been a huge admirer of Palhinha for years and sees him as the perfect replacement should £50m-rated Ruben Neves leaves the club.
Ironically, it is United who are eyeing up Neves having sparked fresh interest in the player following failed attempts to nab him from the midlands in the last two transfer windows.
New boss Erik ten Hag is a big fan of Neves, 25, as he hopes to start his new dynasty in Manchester with a top signing to bolster his midfield.
    Pogba United’s most creative player
Manchester United will miss Paul Pogba’s creativity, now that he is leaving Old Trafford.
According to Opta, the Frenchman created more chances, 231, and laid on more assists, 38, than any other Red Devils player during since stint at the club since joining in August 2016.
    Pogba breaks silence
Paul Pogba has spoken for the first time since his Man United exit was announced.
Accompanying a compilation video, he wrote: “I feel privileged to have played for this club.
“Many beautiful moments and memories but most importantly an unconditional support from the fans. Thank you @ManUtd”
    Ten Hag on Maguire
Erik ten Hag has waxed lyrical over Man United skipper Harry Maguire.
The Dutchman said: “I have to repeat that next season is a different season, but I think he did a great job,” the Dutchman explained to reporters.
“He’s a great player, he’s achieved already a lot really also [with his] contribution to Manchester United.
“So I’m looking forward to working with him.”
    Harry Maguire on Ten Hag
United’s skipper believes that the new boss will bring a “positive energy” to Old Trafford.
He said: “It’s been a tough campaign, no hiding away from that. It was a disappointing season individually and as a group.
“Football’s my life. I care about the club so much. I care about winning matches and taking the club to where it should be, where the fans deserve it to be.
“I’m sure on the first day of pre-season, everybody will be buzzing around, doing their best to impress and coming back in shape. We have a big season ahead.
“We know we are going to improve because last season was nowhere near good enough. The new manager will bring positive energy and the lads will go with that.”
    Man Utd Phillips blow
Leeds remain hopeful Kalvin Phillips will sign a new deal with them – despite interest from Manchester United.
Jesse Marsch’s side are still battling to persuade him to commit his long-term future to them after they avoided relegation on the final day of the season.
His current deal runs until summer 2024 and any move might be complicated by the fact he is due to change agents this summer.
Leeds were resigned to losing their homegrown star had they gone down to the Championship – particularly with the World Cup looming this autumn.
But there is a quiet optimism now they might be able to persuade Phillips, 26, to give them at least another 12 months.
    Pogba next club odds
Juventus are favourites to secure Paul Pogba’s signature following his Man United departure.
The Old Lady are as short as 2/9 to re-sign the midfielder.
PSG are also in the running at 2/1, while Real Madrid are 20/1 and Chelsea are 22/1,
    Man Utd thank Pogba
The Red Devils have paid tribute to their departing No6 on their official website.
They wrote: “It was a low-key end to a United career that had brought so many individual high moments, so many beautiful goals, assists and pieces of skill.
“But for a boy that joined the Academy at 16 to make over 200 United appearances and lift the Youth Cup, along with two major pieces of silverware – not to mention the World Cup at international level – is something that should be applauded and celebrated.
“Everyone at the club would like to congratulate Paul on his successful career, and thank him for his contributions to Manchester United.
“We wish him all the best for the next steps on a remarkable journey.”
    Paul Pogba leaves Man Utd
Manchester United have CONFIRMED Paul Pogba’s exit after six years with the club.
The Frenchman repeatedly turned down new contract offers and is now a free agent.
Juventus have been most strongly linked with the 29-year-old, while PSG and Real Madrid have also previously been keen.
    Barnes on Rangnick debacle
Liverpool legend John Barnes has described Ralf Rangnick’s United appointment as ‘ridiculous’.
In the aftermath of the German’s Old Trafford departure, Barnes told BonusCodeBets: “Ralf Rangnick was never going to work out at Manchester United. The whole appointment was ridiculous from the start.
“Having a manager for the rest of the season, before moving into a consultancy role isn’t professional.
“It’s not the way to run a football club, having an ex-manager who would have been seen as a failure to then be above the new manager.
“The best thing for all parties was for Rangnick to leave, let the new manager come in and for it all to be about Erik ten Hag, and nobody else.
“It was a ridiculous scenario to begin with, regardless of how it transpired. It looks shoddy but it’s the right decision.”
    Rashford and Sancho need ‘miracles’
It would take “miracles” for Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho to earn back their England places, claims former Red Devil Paul Parker.
Speaking to BonusCodeBets, he said: “For those two to get back in, they’ve got to work miracles. Work miracles from August onwards, from the first game, that is if they get into the team.”
“They’ve got to work miracles to be honest, because Jarrod Bowen had a fantastic season and he would’ve been in England squad earlier if he didn’t get an injury.
“He would’ve been in the England squad for the previous window of games. But, he got an injury and not many deserve it (and England call-up) more than him. So, they’ve got to get past him. He is a new boy in, last in and first out, maybe.
“But you think of the work they’ve got to do to get past him, and the assists he makes and the opportunities he’s made and the goals he’s scored in the wide area. Those two will be nowhere near him.”
Man Utd should enter Raphinha race
The Red Devils have been told to target Leeds star Raphinha this summer.
Their former Paul Parker, speaking to BonusCodeBets, said: “So, yes I have to say that he (Raphinha) would be a very good signing and the fact that he’s playing in the Premier League is a fact that makes even more sense.
“They haven’t got to worry about integration. You know, into playing that football.
“So, common sense says, if he’s available, when you talk money I think he’s like £35million.
“I would say he would be a very, very good signing for Manchester United.”
    Toon enter Calvert-Lewin race
    Chelsea legend on Man Utd
Blues icon Joe Cole has had his say on top four rivals Manchester United.
On Erik ten Hag’s task next season, the former attacking midfielder told Coral: “He’s got a huge job. Probably the biggest job in world football at the moment trying to revive Manchester United.
“It’s staggered me watching them from afar and watching the capitulation such a promising start.
“I was at Old Trafford the day Varane was presented first game of the season. Fernandes got a hat-trick. Pogba was outstanding. There was so much positivity and it’s just fallen to pieces.
“It’s a real head scratcher because there’s so many things wrong there. It doesn’t need just a little bit of keyhole surgery.
“It seems like it needs a complete rebuild. So hopefully they’re on that path and Ten Hag is going to be given the tools to do it.”
Man Utd star in play-off battle
Scott McTominay is set to be in action tonight as Scotland face Ukraine in an emotional World Cup play-off semi-final.
The Man United midfielder has been a regular for Steve Clarke’s men in their quest to make it to Qatar.
Should McTominay and Co beat Ukraine at Hampden this evening, they will travel to Wales for Sunday’s final.
    Frenkie de Jong reveals intentions
Man United target Frenkie de Jong has admitted that he wants to stay at Barcelona this summer.
The Dutchman has been linked with a £65million transfer to Old Trafford.
But asked about his future, he said: “Well.. I prefer to stay at Barcelona.
“I said this before, Barcelona is the club of my dreams ever since I was little.”
    Bayern star up for grabs
Man United and Arsenal transfer target Corentin Tolisso is set to leave Bayern Munich when his contract expires this summer.
    Liverpool enter Danjuma transfer race
Man United transfer target Armaut Danjuma claims he has been told that Liverpool also want to sign him.
The former Bournemouth winger, 25, has been linked with a return to the Premier League following a stunning campaign at Villarreal.
A number of clubs have been linked with a swoop after he helped the LaLiga club to reach the Champions League semi-finals.
And now, with Sadio Mane potentially set to depart Anfield for Bayern Munich, one of those is allegedly Liverpool.
Speaking to Dutch broadcaster Ziggo Sport, he said: “I was informed that Liverpool were following me closely.
“I have never had contacts with clubs or anything like that during the season – I always know about the situation after the season. I will never lie and I think it’s a bad quality if you are not ambitious.
“If a club came along that offered me a higher platform to play on sport-wise, I would always have to consider it.”
    Good morning Man Utd fans
Manchester United have appointed Andy O’Boyle as the new Deputy Director of Football.
O’Boyle has left his role as Head of Elite Performance at the Premier League to work with United’s Football Director John Murtough.
He will help with the Red Devils’ strategy across the first team, academy as well as youth team.
O’Boyle is well acquainted with Carrington having worked in the academy 16 years ago helping to develop stars, such as Marcus Rashford.
Meanwhile, United manager Erik ten Hag is watching Mason Mount’s contract situation at Chelsea as he considers a shock move.
Mount has seen contract talks at Stamford Bridge hit a snag after the protracted takeover of the club by new owner Todd Boehly.
Ten Hag is well aware of the 23-year-old’s predicament and the Red Devils’ interest has already been registered with the forward’s camp.
The Dutchman first became aware of Mount’s skills when he impressed on loan with Vitesse in the Netherlands.
The former Ajax manager has tracked the England international’s progress closely ever since, and given the chance, it is believed he would jump at the opportunity to try to tempt him to Old Trafford.
And Leeds star Raphinha wants to join arch-rivals United instead of Barcelona.
The 25-year-old has been heavily linked with a move away from Elland Road after playing a key role in keeping the Whites up in the Premier League.
The winger chipped in with 11 goals and three assists from 35 Premier League matches to help Leeds beat the drop on the final game of the campaign.
Should the Yorkshire club have been relegated, the Brazil international would have been available for £21million due to a clause in his contract.
But it is argued that the forward will now cost in excess of £40m.
The figure hasn’t put off Barca, with the Blaugrana still prepared to bring the player over to the Nou Camp.
Finally, Ajax star and United target Jurrien Timber says he wants assurances over playing time before making a decision on any move this summer.
Timber said: “In the end, my gut feeling will be the deciding factor. The picture has to be right.
“You can go to a big club. But if you’re not going to play there it’s better to stay with Ajax. And Ajax is also a big club.
“We play football in the Champions League and I play there together with the best players in the Netherlands. That is not nothing.”

“I am now focusing on the upcoming international matches and then go on holiday. Then I’ll have to think about it some more”
