Red Devils duel Gunners for Lisandro
Manchester United have reportedly joined Arsenal in the race for Ajax defender Lisandro Martinez.
The Gunners are rumoured to have had a £25million bid rejected for the Argentine ace.

And now the Red Devils have emerged as rivals to Arsenal for Martinez’s signature.
Boss Erik ten Hag has been asked to be kept in the loop with Martinez’s situation, according Sky Sports.
Martinez has spent the last three seasons at Ajax, winning two Dutch titles under Ten Hag.
And now it seems the United gaffer is keen on a reunion with the 24-year-old centre-back.
The Red Devils struggled at the back last season, with skipper Harry Maguire often coming under-fire for his performances.
Raphael Varane also struggled for consistency in an injury-hit first campaign at Old Trafford.
United are yet to make a transfer this summer, but Ten Hag appears open to linking up with Martinez once again.
However, the left-footed defender is also a target for Mikel Arteta, and understood to be interested by the idea of working under the Spaniard.
Arsenal target Dusan ‘only wanted to join Juve’
Dusan Vlahovic has finally opened up over snubbing Arsenal for Juventus and insisted there was only one club for him.
When asked about the offer from the Gunners, he told The Telegraph: “Maybe my agent knows but I never talked to anyone about it.
“I just had one club in my mind because Juventus is Juventus. There is nothing else to say.
“And now I feel honoured to be given this jersey. It’s incredible every time I put it on.
Fabio Vieira’s first words as Gunners player
Fabio Vieira underwent a medical at Arsenal on Friday afternoon ahead of a £30m move to the Emirates.
The Gunners agreed a transfer fee for the 22-year-old earlier this week, and are also understood to have agreed personal terms with the player.
Vieira will pen a five-year contract with the Premier League club.
The midfielder said: “I was always happy at Porto but this chance is important for any professional.
“Playing in the Premier League won’t be easy and I promise only to work, work, work.
“My agent worked on the deal between the two clubs and I accepted the deal because it was important for all parties. I have always watched the Premier League on TV.”

Xhaka’s yellow card vs Leeds investigated by National Crime Agency
Granit Xhaka’s yellow card against Leeds in December is being investigated by the National Crime Agency after a £65,000 bet on him getting booked was placed, writes Kealan Hughes.
It follows a six-month inquiry by the FA after being alerted to the incident by leading bookmakers.
The Arsenal star, 29, was booked for timewasting in the 86th minute of the Premier League match at Elland Road.
Xhaka delayed taking a free-kick with the Gunners leading the game 4-1 at the time, prompting referee Andre Marriner to show him a yellow card.
Bookies were alerted after a bet of £65,000 was placed during the game on him being booked in the match. It won the punter £250,000.
There has never been any suggestion of any wrongdoing by Xhaka or any other Arsenal player with the investigation not examining the midfielder’s behaviour.
    A look back for Fabregas
Cesc Fabregas released by Monaco and in a statement, they praised the ex-Gooner.
It read: “He has an exceptional CV, with 833 top-level games played – with the earliest under Arsene Wenger’s management and alongside Thierry Henry at Arsenal.”
Fabregas scored 57 goals in 303 Arsenal games, winning the 2005 FA Cup with the Gunners.

Capped 110 times, the midfielder also helped Spain win the 2010 World Cup as well as the Euro 2008 and 2012 titles.
Now a free agent, the Spaniard will need to find a new club if he is to prolong his football career.
    Fabregas released by Monaco
Cesc Fabregas has been shown the door by Monaco after an injury-plagued stay on the French Riviera.
The former Arsenal and Chelsea star joined the Ligue 1 club amid high expectations in January 2019.
But Spain midfielder Fabregas has since made just 67 appearances for them – including a mere FIVE last season.
Monaco have now opted not to offer the 35-year-old a new contract.

Nketiah will wear Henry’s iconic No14 shirt
Eddie Nketiah will wear the No14 shirt from next season, having previously worn No30.
He joined the club at the age of 14 and rose through the ranks before making his competitive first team debut in 2017.
Nketiah has also been given the iconic No14 shirt, previously worn by Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and club legend Thierry Henry.
Aubameyang left the club in January after falling out-of-favour with Arteta and club officials.

    Edu on new Nketiah contract
Technical Director Edu has lauded Arsenal’s academy system after Eddie Nketiah signed a new contract to stay at the club.
It has recently produced a selection of stars such as Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe, as well as Nketiah himself.
Edu said: “The foundations of this squad are built on young talent and in particular those who have come through our Academy system.
“Eddie was released by another club as a young man but has always shown he has the attitude as well as the ability to become a top player.
“The fact he’s signed a new contract is an important part of our squad planning for next season and we’re all delighted.”
    Arteta on new Nketiah contract
Manager Mikel Arteta has praised Eddie Nketiah after he signed a new long-term contract to stay at the club.
Arteta said: “I’m delighted Eddie is staying with us. He represents what we are all about and all the values of the club.
“We are very happy that he has extended his contract and now we have to get to work and continue to develop the great talent and person that we have in him.”

Eddie Nketiah signs new long-term deal
Eddie Nketiah is STAYING at the club after agreeing a new “long-term” contract.
A club statement read: “Eddie has been with us since he was 14, making 92 first-team appearances and scoring 23 goals since his first-team debut in 2017.
“Eddie will wear the number 14 shirt from next season, having previously worn the number 30.
“The new contract is subject to the completion of regulatory processes.”

Not a Fab deal for Porto
Porto’s decision to sell Fabio Vieira to Arsenal for £34m hasn’t sat well with former club president José Fernando Rio.
He thinks Porto have undersold the attacking midfielder.
Speaking to Rádio Renascença, via Record, he fumed: “The financial administrator had already announced the need to realise between €70-100m in capital gains this year, and I was already waiting for the bleeding to start.
“Obviously, we have to discount the intermediation costs. At Porto, we never know they are high or low, but normally they are quite high.
“President Pinto da Costa has been filling his mouth with numbers, saying that Porto has a situation that allows players to be negotiated only through the release clause, and we see that this is not true.”
    Happy Birthday Martinelli!
    Gabriel Martinelli is 21 today!
Martinelli, joined the North London side from Brazilian side Ituano in 2019.
After establishing himself as a first team regular under Mikel Arteta this campaign, the club have rewarded him with a new shirt number.
Having chipped in with five goals and as many assists in 28 Premier League games this term, the youngster will don the No11 shirt from next season.

    Ozil set for career switch
Mesut Ozil is set for a new career once he hangs up his boots – by becoming a PROFESSIONAL GAMER!
Ozil’s agent Dr Erkut Sogut told The Telegraph: “He will go more into esports, play himself and maybe become an esports athlete.
“He’s really good, to be honest, at Fortnite and I think one day I wouldn’t be surprised if he is competing.
“He owns a team – M10 Esports – and he has players.
“He has a gaming house in Germany.
“He has football, like Fifa, and Fortnite.”

    New Arsenal keeper speaks
Incoming Arsenal keeper Matt Turner has bid farewell to his New England Revolution team-mates.
In a virtual press conference, he said: “I’m just focused on saying goodbye to these fans who hold a special place in my heart.
“They welcomed me to this team, made me feel like a superstar even when I was playing [at USL League One’s] Richmond [Kickers].
“It’s been tough with COVID, not getting the chance to be with them one-on-one, signing autographs as frequently. I hope Sunday we’ll rectify all that and leave on good terms.”

There has never been any suggestion of any wrongdoing by Xhaka or any other Arsenal player with the investigation not examining the midfielder’s behaviour.
In January a betting source told SunSport: “This bet was flagged to all bookmakers, because it was so big and it paid out.
“The investigation is looking at the bet rather than Xhaka’s behaviour —– it is not unusual for him to be carded at all.”
    Merson makes transfer plea
Paul Merson has urged Arsenal to buy Southampton star James Ward-Prowse amid interest from West Ham.
He told the Daily Star: “Arsenal cannot allow West Ham to buy James Ward-Prowse. I think he is a great signing for whoever gets him.
“I think he is one of the best passers of the ball in England. Him and Trent Alexander-Arnold see things few other English players do and they can spray it around the pitch because they have such a good range of passing.
“I don’t understand why Arsenal are not pulling out all the stops to try and take James Ward-Prowse from Southampton.
“Arsenal need to buy experience and they would be buying an experienced England international who knows the Premier League and would make a huge difference to them.”
    Arsenal’s relentess transfer plans
Arsenal have no plans of slowing down in the transfer market despite landing Fabio Vieira.
The Gunners are tailing top priority target Lisandro Martinez of Ajax, according to The Athletic.
And they could be in luck as the defender is open to a transfer, the report adds.
Plus, Arsenal are looking to bring in Gabriel Jesus as swiftly as possible, it was also stated.

Dusan Vlahovic has finally opened up over snubbing Arsenal for Juventus and insisted there was only one club for him.

    Good morning Arsenal fans
Porto midfielder Fabio Vieira underwent a medical at Arsenal on Friday afternoon ahead of a £30m move to the Emirates.
The Gunners agreed a transfer fee for the 22-year-old earlier this week, and are also understood to have agreed personal terms with the player.
Assuming his medical runs smoothly, Vieira will pen a five-year contract with the Premier League club.
Porto then released a statement informing the market of an agreement to sell Fabio Vieira to Arsenal.
The Portuguese club announced that a ‘deal was complete for the amount of €40m, and of these, €5m are dependent on achievement of sports objectives.’
Meanwhile, Arsenal’s failure to qualify for the Champions League has resulted in them missing out on Yves Bissouma.
The Brighton ace has joined Tottenham for £25m.
Bissouma was keen to join a club competing in the Champions League and is excited to work under Antonio Conte.
And Spurs are hoping to use the allure of Champions League football to steal Napoli striker Victor Osimhen from under Arsenal’s nose.
The Gunners had an initial bid of £51million rejected by the Serie A side earlier this week as they eye a replacement for Alexandre Lacazette.
Man Utd have also been linked with a move for the Nigerian.
However, according to journalist Lorenzo Amuso, Spurs could well get there ahead of them both.
Finally, Arsenal have reportedly had a £25m offer for Lisandro Martinez rejected by Ajax.
But the Gunners remain undeterred and will press forward with another bid, according to The Athletic.
It should be smooth sailing for the Gunners if they hash out terms with Ajax as the defender is keen on joining the North Londoners, the report adds.

The Gunners believe Martinez can offer competition for Gabriel Magalhaes on the left side of central defence, while also deputising for Kieran Tierney at left-back.
Martinez has played 118 times in total for Dutch giants Ajax and was a regular in Ten Hag’s side last season.

CHELSEA are focused on settling a deal with Inter Milan over Romelu Lukaku this summer. And the Italian giants are confident that it will get sorted according to reports.
Meanwhile, SunSport can reveal that captain Cesar Azpilicueta is under pressure to hand in a transfer request if he wants to secure his dream Barcelona move.

    Hoop for better luck
England stars Tammy Abraham, Jadon Sancho and Mason Mount let their hair down by enjoying some basketball during their US holiday.
The Three Lions players have jetted off to America following a disappointing set of Nations League fixtures.
But it didn’t take them long to return to some form of sport as they headed out onto the court for some basketball.
Tammy Abraham, Jadon Sancho and Mason Mount have fun on basketball court as England stars enjoy US holiday
Roma striker Tammy Abraham shared the video on his Instagram as the England boys appeared to be loving life in the US.
Abraham’s clip showed former Chelsea teammates Mount, Trevoh Chalobah and Fikayo Tomori.
And Man Utd man Sancho was also present as he continues his American vacation.
The ex-Borussia Dortmund forward could be seen celebrating scoring just seconds after Mount’s effort bounced off the rim.
The basketball video comes days after Sancho uploaded a clip of himself working up a sweat in the US while out on a run.
The 22-year-old is keen to prove himself to both new Man Utd boss Erik ten Hag and England manager Gareth Southgate.
Southgate, who watched his side fail to win any of their four Nations League matches in June, recently stated that Sancho and Marcus Rashford have “a lot to do” if they want to make his World Cup squad.
    Time to Cesar the moment
Blues’ wing-back Cesar Azpilicueta is under pressure to slap in a transfer request — or risk his dream move to Barcelona.
The Chelsea captain wants to return home to Spain this summer.
But Nou Camp giants Barca are growing frustrated with the lack of progress over the defender’s bid to talk his way out of the final year of his contract at Stamford Bridge.
Boss Thomas Tuchel said the pair will sit down and discuss his future but Barcelona want the deal done quickly.
Barcelona boss Xavi is keen to have the veteran right-back available for pre-season training next month.
The Spanish side have threatened to find ‘other solutions’ to the gap being left by the departure of club legend Dani Alves, who has confirmed he is leaving for a second time.
Azpilicueta is due to hold talks with Tuchel in the coming days to seek an amicable separation agreement.
    Chelsea and United tracking Jones
Several Premier League clubs including Chelsea and Manchester United are tracking the progress of Middlesbrough ace Isaiah Jones, report 90 Min.
The 22-year-old earned rave reviews in the Championship last season after being converted from a winger to right wing-back under Chris Wilder.
Indeed, his impressive performances were the main reason why Boro’s decision to allow Djed Spence to leave on loan was not widely slammed.
However, Jones appears content to remain with the Teessiders for now despite the lure of the top flight.
He told Ur Fresh TV: “It’s always nice to hear praise, but when people say to me, ‘you should be in the Premier League’ and ‘you should leave Middlesbrough’, I’m like, ‘No, I really enjoy it here’. I’m improving here every day.”
Tottenham have also been linked with a move for the London-born star.
    Lukaku talks in style
Inter Milan’s president arrived for talks with Chelsea about Romelu Lukaku’s exit in style.
Inter and Chelsea still need to agree terms in order for Lukaku to return to Italy.
And Inter’s president Steven Zhang pulled up for crunch talks in a customised Ferrari.
Zhang’s sports car has been painted in Inter’s blue and black kit colours.
Lukaku is the “worst transfer in history”, says fan
Fans once praised Chelsea’s decision to trim the fat and sign a superstar.
But now many supporters are calling the move the “worst transfer in history”.
On Chelsea’s decision to sell nine players to finance the Lukaku deal, one fan at the time wrote: “Chelsea’s sales this summer… Marina (Granovskaia) has done it again.”
But the tweet has quickly bitten them on the backside, with football fans slating the Blues for their truly awful decision.
One wrote: “Chelsea paid £97m for a year of Romelu Lukaku. Comfortably the worst transfer in the history of football.”
Another pointed out: “We sold Guehi, Tomori, Livramento and Abraham all to fund Lukaku. This summer we are in the market for 2 CBs, a RWB and a Striker…”
A third moaned: “We sold 100m worth of academy talent to fund Lukaku for him to leave after a year for a 95m loss. Inter have made an absolutely mockery of us.”
What did Chelsea give up for Lukaku?
Tammy Abraham, Fikayo Tomori and Marc Guehi led the exodus, writes Dave Fraser.
Abraham was among the top scorers in Serie A last season and helped Roma win the Europa Conference League.
Tomori helped AC Milan win their first Serie A title in 11 years.
Guehi joined Crystal Palace and thrived – with all three now part of the England squad ahead of the 2022 World Cup – while Livramento has gone on to become one of the hottest young prospects in the Premier League.
How Chelsea could use them all now, with Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen quitting and Cesar Azpilicueta, Marcos Alonso and Lukaku looking to move on.
In all, the Blues bagged £98m for their nine “fringe” players and spent £97.5m on Lukaku, who quickly repaid them by revealing his desire to head back to the San Siro just two months later.
This summer, Chelsea are desperately seeking squad reinforcements all over the pitch, including up front with Lukaku on the brink of returning to Inter Milan on an initial loan deal.

Chelsea moved heaven and earth for Lukaku
Romelu Lukaku was supposed to be the missing piece, the man who would see Chelsea leapfrog Manchester City and Liverpool to win the Premier League.
The Belgian, 29, had just helped Inter Milan end Juventus’ decade of dominance to win the Serie A title in emphatic manner.
The Blues were clearly missing a centre-forward – and they thought they’d found the perfect solution in their former youth team man, Lukaku.
Chelsea moved heaven and earth to land the ex-Manchester United striker.
In fact, the club’s transfer team sold NINE stars and rising talents to finance a deal for Lukaku.
Tammy Abraham, Fikayo Tomori and Marc Guehi led the exodus.
But they were joined by Olivier Giroud, Victor Moses, Tino Livramento, Ike Ugbo, Lewis Bate and Dynel Simeu in quitting Stamford Bridge.
    Jake Clarke-Salter joins QPR
Chelsea defender Jake Clarke-Salter has left to join QPR – after making just two appearances in 14 years.
The 24-year-old has made the switch to the Blues’ London rivals on a four-year contract after years of loan moves from Stamford Bridge.

Sun Sport revealed earlier this week that QPR were in pole position to claim the signature of the free agent after he left Chelsea.
He is now the first signing of new manager Michael Beale, the former Aston Villa assistant who has replaced Mark Warburton.
Clarke-Salter was a highly-rated Chelsea academy product and will now be hoping to re-launch his career after failing to break through at Cobham.
    Chelsea star seeks exit
Emerson Palmieri is reportedly seeking a transfer away from Chelsea this summer.
Emerson will return to Chelsea after a loan stint with Lyon.
But the Italy international has no plans to stay put with Lazio interested in signing him, according to Corriere dello Sport.
    Inter ‘offer Chelsea players’
Inter Milan have been offering players to Chelsea to exchange for Romelu Lukaku.
But the Blues have only got eyes on Lautoro Martinez, who is unlikely to be made available by Inter, according to Daily Star journalist Paul Brown.
He told Give Me Sport: “Inter have definitely been offering players to Chelsea to try and smooth this out and bring down any money they have to pay for him, but my understanding is that Chelsea are not terribly keen on anyone at Inter.
“I think they would have an interest in Lautaro Martinez, but he’s someone who just doesn’t seem to be available in this window at the moment, so I think some kind of part exchange or swap is probably unlikely unless that changes.”
    Azpilicueta faces transfer pressure
Cesar Azpilicueta is under pressure to slap in a transfer request — or risk his dream move to Barcelona.
The Chelsea captain wants to leave this summer and return home to Spain.
    Barca to hijack Kounde deal
Barcelona’s improving financial situation looks set to leave Manchester United’s transfer dealings in disarray – and the same could soon be said of Chelsea.
And that’s because the LaLiga giants have emerged as favourites to land Sevilla Jules Kounde, according to reports in Spain.
The French centre-back has long been courted by the Blues, but they were held back in their attempts to complete the signing while under government sanctions.
Rather than matching Chelsea’s €80m bid, Barca are preparing a €60m offer plus an unnamed player in exchange.
It is thought that Kounde’s preference would be a move to Catalonia.
Blues ‘real’ City target is Sterling
Chelsea are set to miss out on Gabriel Jesus, but reports suggest it’s another Manchester City player that is truly in their sights.
The Blues dipped their toe into negotiations when it became apparent that Arsenal were in advanced talks over the signing of Jesus.
However, Sky Sports understand that ‘the City player Thomas Tuchel is keener on is Raheem Sterling.’
The 27-year-old England international has a year remaining on his current deal at the Eithad Stadium, and has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge.
    Lewandowski ‘rejects Chelsea’ transfer
Chelsea’s hopes of signing Robert Lewandowski have reportedly been shot down by the Bayern Munich striker.
That’s according to Sport who claim Lewandowski turned down advances from both the Blues and PSG.
That’s because the Polish ace has his heart set on a move to Barca, the report adds.
Inter ‘confident’ about getting Lukaku on loan
Inter Milan are confident about agreeing a loan deal with Chelsea to sign Romelu Lukaku, according to reports.
Lukaku, 29, is available on loan but Chelsea are seeking a £20million fee to let him leave for the season.
That price tag is believed to be too steep for Inter but the Serie A side are hopeful of reaching a deal.
And according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano the two clubs are set to hold talks today about a move.
He tweeted: “Inter and Chelsea have scheduled a new direct contact in the coming hours for Romelu Lukaku. Inter are feeling confident, now waiting for Chelsea’s final price tag.”
New Chelsea owner Todd Boehly is reportedly open to discussing a loan move for Lukaku with Inter.
    Good morning Chelsea fans
Chelsea’s hopes of signing Robert Lewandowski have reportedly been shot down by the Bayern Munich striker.
That’s according to Sport who claim Lewandowski turned down advances from both the Blues and PSG.
That’s because the Polish ace has his heart set on a move to Barca, the report adds.
But, it’s been claimed Lewandoswki won’t join Chelsea because he fears he won’t be successful in the Prem like he’s been in Germany.
That’s according to his former agent Cezary Kucharski.
He told Sport 1: “I always heard Robert give a childish explanation that it rains so much in England.
“But I think the real reason was that he didn’t think he could be as efficient as in Germany. Robert was really afraid of that.”
Meanwhile, Ex-Chelsea ace Jake Clarke-Salter has joined QPR on a free transfer.
Clarke-Salter told QPR’s media after finalising his switch: ““I am over the moon.
It’s a permanent deal and it’s time for me to settle down and progress in my career.
“It’s totally different to a loan move because this is my home and I am fully focused on doing great things with this club.
“This is a big step for me and one I am totally ready for.”
In other news, Emerson Palmieri is reportedly seeking a transfer away from Chelsea this summer.
Emerson will return to Chelsea after a loan stint with Lyon.
But the Italy international has no plans to stay put with Lazio interested in signing him, according to Corriere dello Sport.
Finally, The end of Romelu Lukaku’s Chelsea nightmare is edging closer according to reports in Italy.
The Belgian striker is on the verge of a return to former club Inter Milan with journalist Matteo Moretto describing the transfer as ‘imminent’.
Lukaku is expected to agree an initial loan deal with the Nerazzurri, a year on from leaving them to join the Blues for £97.5m.
    Azpilicueta faces transfer pressure
Cesar Azpilicueta is under pressure to slap in a transfer request — or risk his dream move to Barcelona.
The Chelsea captain wants to leave this summer and return home to Spain.

    Lukaku is ‘lacking confidence’
Romelu Lukaku has lost his confidence in front of goal for Chelsea this season.
That’s the opinion of Jamie O’Hara who told talkSPORT: “His performances weren’t really good enough. It looks like he’s lost his confidence.
“I think Lukaku is one of those players who needs to have an arm around him by the manager to really give him that belief. Thomas Tuchel didn’t give him that.
“It’s been an absolute disaster of a signing. I thought he was going to be the final piece in the jigsaw.”
    Ex-Chelsea star joins QPR
Ex-Chelsea ace Jake Clarke-Salter has joined QPR on a free transfer.
Clarke-Salter told QPR’s media after finalising his switch: ““I am over the moon.

That price tag is believed to be too steep for Inter but the Serie A side are hopeful of reaching a deal just a year after selling him to the Blues for £97.5million.
New Chelsea owner Todd Boehly is reportedly open to discussing a loan move for Lukaku, who has four years left on his Chelsea deal, with Inter.

Milan ‘feeling confident’ about Lukaku deal, Lewandowski UPDATE
And the two parties have plenty to iron out with the Italian side unable to pay all of Lukaku’s £325,000 salary.
The Belgian could solve that problem himself as he is said to be willing to take a pay cut to return to the San Siro.
Lukaku could even slash his wages by half to secure a loan deal and put a torrid year at Chelsea behind him.
Many Blues fans have described the striker as “the worst transfer of all time” with some supporters now desperate for him to leave.

Yet when Lukaku returned to Stamford Bridge many fans and pundits were excited by his arrival.
Many felt he had unfinished business following his first disastrous spell at the club and was the missing piece of the puzzle that would make Thomas Tuchel’s side title contenders.
But from minute one he did not fit Chelsea’s style of play and complained about a lack of goalscoring chances in a now infamous December interview where he first revealed his desire to return to Inter.
Lukaku scored eight league goals and lost his place to Kai Havertz in the second half of the season – leaving Chelsea with little option but to make him available for loan. More

Mane to undergo Bayern Munich MEDICAL as Liverpool accept bid
United insist Roca has been signed to play alongside Phillips, but there is an acceptance it will be hard to keep hold of the £50m-rated England star.
Roca is Leeds’ third arrival of the transfer window after attacking midfielder Brenden Aaronson and right-back Rasmus Kristensen arrived from RB Salzburg for a combined £35m.
Roca arrived at Bayern in 2020 from Espanyol but struggled to nail down a starting spot in two seasons in Bavaria.
If Phillips does leave his boyhood club, Leeds will move for another midfielder – with Sheffield United’s Sander Berge admired.

RB Leipzig’s Tyler Adams is another option in the middle of the park.
Meanwhile, in the attacking areas Leeds have been linked with a move for Wolves winger Adama Traore.
The 26-year-old spent the second half of the 2021-22 campaign on loan at Barcelona, but there are fears the Spanish giants may not be able to finance a permanent deal.
As a result, he has reportedly been identified by Jesse Marsch’s side as an affordable target – with £20m muted as the price tag.
Leeds’ transfer chief Victor Orta signed the Spaniard for Middlesbrough from Aston Villa in 2016 and remains a fan.
The club are keen to avoid another tense relegation battle – with Marsch’s men avoiding the drop on the final of last season. More

However, the Daily Mirror has now claimed that PSG “have made a formal approach” to Leeds.
They have contacted the Premier League outfit in order to find out how much they want for the Elland Road academy graduate.
It also adds that the Ligue 1 title holders know that an offer of £55m could prove too much to resist for Leeds.
And it states that “Phillips knows he will be guaranteed Champions League football and can triple his wages to £200,000-a-week” at Parc des Princes.

The ace still has two years remaining on his contract at Leeds.
And they could potentially force him to see out – or at least one more season – the rest of that.
City boss Guardiola is looking for a replacement for veteran Fernandinho following the Brazilian’s departure after nine years at the Etihad.
Guardiola and City sporting director Txiki Begiristain think he would be “ideal” for them and have already sent scouts to watch him several times this term.
Manchester United also want the ace – but Phillips has allegedly told his nearest and dearest that he could not move to Old Trafford due to the bitter rivalry between them and his boyhood club Leeds. More

PORTO have announced the sale of Fabio Vieira to Arsenal.Meanwhile, the Gunners have reportedly made a £26m bid for Lisandro Martinez of Ajax, who is believed to be their top defensive target.
The North Londoners are also looking to complete a deal for long-time target Gabriel Jesus as quickly as possible.
And they remain confident of signing Youri Tielemans, with Vieira not seen as an alternative signing to the Leicester star.
Arsenal have also been busy securing Eddie Nketiah for the long-term, with the striker’s new contract now confirmed.

    Arsenal bid rejected
Arsenal have reportedly had a £25m offer for Lisandro Martinez rejected by Ajax.
But the Gunners remain undeterred and will press forward with another bid, according to The Athletic.
It should be smooth sailing for the Gunners if they hash out terms with Ajax as the defender is keen on joining the North Londoners, the report adds.
    Vlahovic speaks on Arsenal snub
Dusan Vlahovic has finally opened up over snubbing Arsenal for Juventus and insisted there was only one club for him.
When asked about the offer from the Gunners, he told The Telegraph: “Maybe my agent knows but I never talked to anyone about it.
“I just had one club in my mind because Juventus is Juventus. There is nothing else to say.
“And now I feel honoured to be given this jersey. It’s incredible every time I put it on.”
The Gunners are tailing top priority target Lisandro Martinez, according to The Athletic.
And they could be in luck as the defender is open to a transfer, the report adds.
Plus, Arsenal are looking to bring in Gabriel Jesus as swiftly as possible, it was also stated.
    Wilshere makes transfer plea
Jack Wilshere has urged former club Arsenal to sign Leeds ace Raphinha.
Wilshere told talkSPORT: For someone who’s only been in England for two years, he’s got a lot of experience,” Wilshere told talkSPORT.
“He came to England and just clicked straight away. He was in a relegation battle last year so he knows he’s up for a fight.
“I think he’d be a good one for Arsenal. He’ll be expensive, of course he will.”
    ‘The Antonio Conte factor’
Tottenham’s signing of Yves Bissouma despite interest from Arsenal and Man United shows players want to join the Lilywhites ahead of their rivals.
That’s the view of Jamie O’Hara who reckons Spurs boss Antonio Conte possesses the pulling power over his Prem counterparts.
O’Hara told Grosvenor Sport: “I know there were other teams after him – Arsenal, Man United – but it seems as if players are starting to pick Spurs over anyone else, which is the Antonio Conte factor.
“The Bissouma move is extra sweet for Spurs fans. That’s the biggest thing right now, Spurs are getting players over their rivals like Arsenal.
“For Spurs to get a player of that quality over Arsenal just shows where they are now and how big getting that Champions League spot was.
“It’s showing that Spurs are going to attract the better players to their team.”
    Bissouma realises Champions League dream
Yves Bissouma has revealed he can’t wait to play in the Champions League with Tottenham.
He said: “The emotion is too much but I just say thank you to God.
“It’s my dream to play Champions League, when I was young I was watching it every day.
“I can’t believe I’m going to play in it with Spurs, I’m so happy.”
    In the Hick of time
Arsenal are reportedly set to launch an £18million summer transfer bid for Aaron Hickey.
And they are willing to include a sell-on clause to persuade Italian side Bologna into a deal.
And to convince Bologna it’s a deal worth making, the Gunners will also include a clause entitling the Italians to a chunk of Hickey’s next transfer fee.
Arteta wants Hickey to become his third signing of the summer.
Arsenal have already landed Brazilian winger Marquinhos and are now set to welcome Porto playmaker Fabio Vieira.
    Not a Fab deal
    Arsenal’s costly European failure
Arsenal’s failure to qualify for the Champions League has resulted in them missing out on Yves Bissouma.
The Brighton ace has joined Tottenham for £25m.
    Bissouma wanted Champions League football
He was keen to join a club competing in the Champions League and is excited to work under Antonio Conte.
Arsenal had regularly been linked with Bissouma during the last two seasons, but will now look to pursue Youri Tielemans.
    Osimhen transfer battle
Tottenham are reportedly preparing to swoop in and steal Napoli striker Victor Osimhen from under Arsenal’s nose.
The Gunners had an initial bid of £51million rejected by the Serie A side earlier this week as they eye a replacement for Alexandre Lacazette.
Reports have stated Mikel Arteta’s men are now considering a club record £86m bid to get a deal over the line.
Man Utd have also been linked with a move for the Nigerian.
However, according to journalist Lorenzo Amuso, Spurs could well get there ahead of them both.
This is because Antonio Conte’s side are able to offer Osimhen Champions League football next season.
    It’s Asensio ‘at all costs’
Arsenal have been busy putting their disappointment of missing out on the Champions League behind them, and have been making strides in the transfer market.
A deal for Porto’s Fabio Vieira has been all but confirmed, talks for Gabriel Jesus are progressing, and, now, they are pushing hard for Marco Asensio.
According to Sport (via Sports Witness), the Gunners want to sign the Spanish international ‘at all costs’.
Asensio has been in talks with current club Real Madrid regarding a contract extension, but is aware that a place in the first team at the Bernabeu is far from guaranteed.
The 26-year-old is eager for game time ahead of November’s World Cup, and would consider a move to the Premier League – and sources close to Madrid understand that Arsenal are best placed to make a move for the forward.

    Nketiah to pen new deal
Eddie Nketiah is poised to put pen to paper on a new Arsenal contract, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The young striker had looked destined to leave the Emirates this summer once his current deal reached its conclusion.
However, a run of starts and important goals towards the end of the season prompted both parties to reconsider their position, and the 23-year-old now looks set to stay.
Nketiah’s new contract is expected to keep him at the Emirates until 2027, and will ward off interest from a number of Bundesliga clubs.

    Porto confirm Vieira’s Arsenal move
Porto have released a statement informing the market of an agreement to sell Fabio Vieira to Arsenal.
The Portuguese club announced that a ‘deal was complete for the amount of €40m, and of these, €5m are dependent on achievement of sports objectives.’
There has yet to be any official confirmation from Arsenal, who are understood to be carrying out the midfielder’s medical at this moment.
Second coming? Jesus wants Arteta reunion
Manchester City’s Gabriel Jesus is eager to reunite with Mikel Arteta at Arsenal.
Sky Sports’ journalist Melissa Reddy has revealed that the Brazilian striker is keen on the idea of playing for his former coach, who he enjoyed a good relationship during their time together at the Etihad.
Arteta was assistant to Pep Guardiola when Jesus joined City in 2017, and would often offer the Brazilian striker advice and individual coaching sessions.
    Vieira to undergo Arsenal medical
Porto midfielder Fabio Vieira will undergo a medical at Arsenal this afternoon ahead of a £30m move to the Emirates.
The Gunners agreed a transfer fee for the 22-year-old earlier this week, and are also understood to have agreed personal terms with the player.
Assuming his medical runs smoothly, Vieira will pen a five-year contract with the Premier League club.
The Portuguese playmaker created a league-high 14 assists in the Primeira Liga last season, and was voted player of the tournament at last year’s European Under-21 Championship.

    Atalanta ‘considering’ loan of Tavares
Serie A outfit Atalanta are said to be ‘considering a loan move’ for Arsenal misfit Nuno Tavares.
According to Gazetta dello Sport (via The Mail), the Italians are weighing up whether to bring the left-back to Bergamo for the upcoming campaign.
Tavares made 28 appearances during his first season at the Emirates – mainly as cover for Kieran Tierney – after arriving for £8m from Benfica last summer.
However, the 22-year-old was often the scapegoat for some poor performances, especially after being hauled off early by Mikel Arteta on more than one occasion.
The Gunners are unlikely to allow the Portuguese defender to leave without cover for the injury-prone Tierney – which may hint at the imminent arrival of another Scot in Aaron Hickey.

    Good morning Arsenal fans
Arsenal have placed Gabriel Jesus their No.1 transfer target, according to Fabrizio Romano.
He said to Caught Offside: “Gabriel Jesus is still the main target of Arsenal as of today.
“In the next few hours there will be new contacts to understand if they can reach an agreement or move to other targets.
“There is not only Arsenal on Gabriel, who will leave Man City at 100%. He’s a top player who wants to start matches, and it’s not too surprising to see him take his time over a decision on his future.”
Elsewhere, Eddie Nketiah has reportedly penned a new deal with Arsenal.
His new contract will see him stay at Arsenal for more than a decade after he joined the club in 2015, according to the Evening Standard.
Meanwhile, Arsenal have reportedly triggered Porto ace Fabio Vieira’s release clause.
The Gunners have launched a £36m bid free Vieira from his contract entanglement, according to the Express.
It is thought that the 22-year-old is traveling to North London to undergo a medical before completing his switch to the capital, the report adds.
Arsenal will pay Porto £29.8m for Fabio Vieira, plus £4.2m, reports revealed.
The 22-year-old will sign a five-year deal with the Gunners, according to David Ornstein.
His switch to North London was facilitated by super agent Jorge Mendes.
Mendes also played a pivotal role in Nicolas Pepe’s transfer to Arsenal last summer.
Finally, Arsenal are reportedly closing in on the signing of Bologna full-back Aaron Hickey.
The Emirates will likely be the next best destination for the 20-year-old, according to the Scotsman.
However, the Gunners will have to cough up £18m minimum for Hickey, the report adds.
    Arsenal make Jesus transfer priority
Arsenal have placed Gabriel Jesus their No.1 transfer target, according to Fabrizio Romano.
He said to Caught Offside: “Gabriel Jesus is still the main target of Arsenal as of today.
“In the next few hours there will be new contacts to understand if they can reach an agreement or move to other targets.
“There is not only Arsenal on Gabriel, who will leave Man City at 100%. He’s a top player who wants to start matches, and it’s not too surprising to see him take his time over a decision on his future.”
    Nketiah signs new deal
