The club revealed the news with a short video on social media that ends with Romero giving two thumbs up to the camera.
Romero has made 32 appearances for Spurs and is a key player under Antonio Conte, which is why the Italian has made him his eighth signing of the summer.
Reports earlier this summer claimed Spurs would splash out £40million to land Romero on a permanent basis.
He has signed a five-year contract after Spurs triggered his release clause – which reportedly expired at the end of August.

Romero becomes the club’s eighth signing of the summer following the arrivals of Fraser Forster, Ivan Perisic, Yves Bissouma, Richarlison, Clement Lenglet, Djed Spence and Destiny Udogie, who has returned to Udinese on loan.
But Conte is still not satisfied and has his sights set on Atletico Madrid wing-back Yannick Carrasco.

Spurs are in talks to sign the Belgian for around £25m with Atletico open to selling.
Carrasco would provide competition for Emerson Royal but he is also capable of playing higher up the pitch and on the left flank too.

Tottenham fans rally around Richarlison after ‘proper wind-up’ reply to Didi Hamann over ‘unsportsmanlike’ showboating

TOTTENHAM fans have rallied round Richarlison after he delivered a cheeky response to Didi Hamann’s claims that he should’ve been booked for showboating against Nottingham Forest.Richarlison treated Tottenham’s 2-0 win over Forest like a training session when he decided to do kick-ups as the match drew to a close.

The Brazilian came on in the 74th minute and provided a superb cross to Harry Kane who scored and doubled his tally.
Then with five minutes to go, Richarlison decided to break into an impromptu spell of keepy-uppy to the delight of Spurs fans.
But not everyone was impressed with Richarlison’s display including Forest star Brennan Johnson who swiftly clattered into the striker, receiving a yellow card in the process.
Johnson’s fury was shared by Liverpool legend Hamann who condemned Richarlison for being “unsportsmanlike.”

He fumed: “Nothing to do with showboating. Should have been booked for unsportsmanlike conduct and restarted with free kick to Forest.”
But Richarlison was nonplussed by Hamann’s criticism and nonchalantly responded: “Cry more,” along with a crying face emoji under the German legend’s post.

His blase reply was warmly received by Spurs fans who chimed in on the post.
One fan mused: “We’ve got ourselves a proper wind up and I’m all for it,” accompanied by a crying face and hand clap emoji.

This sentiment was echoed by another user who said: “We’ve finally got a proper windup on and off the pitch in the team.”
And a third supporter added: “I love how cocky he is it’s ace,” with a few crying emojis.
Their enthusiasm was shared by Hamann’s former Liverpool team-mate Jamie Carragher who joked: “This is the type of sxxthousery I can get fully behind!”, with two crying face emojis.
Carragher’s praise for Richarlison came after they squashed their Twitter beef when the Spurs and Forest match concluded.
Despite the footy pundit initially slamming Richarlison for his showboating, the pair shared a warm embrace once the game was over.
Carragher felt Richarlison’s wrath when he criticised the Brazilian’s performances for Everton last season – leading to the forward calling out the ex-Liverpool defender on Twitter.

But the bickering pair were all smiles when they finally met face-to-face.
Now, Carragher has to try and patch things up with Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo who blanked the England icon for slamming his performances. More

Tottenham ‘open talks with Atletico Madrid over Yannick Carrasco transfer’ with wing-back set to cost £25million

TOTTENHAM have opened talks with Atletico Madrid to sign Yannick Carrasco, according to reports.Antonio Conte is a big fan of the Belgian, 28, having previously tried to sign him for Spurs on January transfer deadline day.
Atletico Madrid are prepared to sell Yannick CarrascoCredit: Getty
Atletico did not want to sell at the time but they will now listen to offers of around £25million, report The Telegraph.
Carrasco has been an important player for Diego Simeone since his return to the club following a two-year spell in China – but the Spanish giants are reportedly under pressure to sell to meet LaLiga’s salary cap.
Manchester United also showed an interest in Carrasco earlier this month but are concentrating their funds on signing Antony from Ajax.
That means Spurs are the frontrunners for Carrasco with Atletico prepared to sell before Thursday’s transfer deadline.
    READ MORE IN FOOTBALL
If he signs Carrasco would provide competition for Emerson Royal at right wing-back, despite Matt Doherty and £20m summer signing Djed Spence also being able to play that role.
But his versatility means Carrasco can also play further forward and on the left-flank – much like Ivan Perisic.

If Carrasco does arrive he will be Spurs’ eighth signing of the summer – but boss Conte believes they are still short of competing with teams at the top level.
He said: “If you compare to last season, we are more complete.

“But to reach other teams at the top level, we need time, patience and transfer markets, at least two transfer markets to reach the same level.”

Antonio Conte begs Harry Kane to sign new Tottenham deal NOW and help him lead Spurs to trophies at last

Having tried to force his way out of the club and secure a move to Manchester City 12 months ago and seeing fresh links with Bayern Munich this summer, Conte says Kane is happy again in North London.
And the Italian boss thinks that is down to the direction the club are heading in under his management.
Spurs will return to the Champions League next month and are third in the Premier League table heading into Wednesday’s London derby against West Ham.
Asked if now was the ideal time for Kane to put pen to paper, Conte said: “Yeah, the perfect time but you know very well that you create the perfect time with a project.

“If also the player understands that there is a right process, that everybody is going in the same direction, I think every single player wants to see this.
“And I think that Harry for sure is happy because he is seeing this type of situation.
“There is a vision, there is a direction and there is a unity to try to improve the team to be the team at the level of his expectations.”
Conte is keen to see his star man agree a new deal and put to bed any talk of leaving again that may come over the next two years.

However, the England striker – who scored his 200th goal in English league football at Nottingham Forest on Sunday – may be reluctant to do so before his manager does.
Conte is out of contract at the end of the season and is always reluctant to signal his commitment to a long-term project.
For now, he is just pleased that Kane is happy.
The former Chelsea boss added: “My opinion is only one of a million opinions [trying] to force the club, to tell the club ‘sign a new contract for Harry Kane’.
“Because we are talking about a world-class striker and a player who in this moment is the most representative player for Tottenham, no?
“For sure I would like him to sign a new contract.
“In this moment, for me it is very important to see him happy, totally involved with this season, this project and in what we are doing. For me this is the most important.
“Then it’s a decision that the player and the club have to take.”
Conte was coy on any new incomings for Spurs before Thursday’s transfer deadline.
The Tottenham boss has held talks with chairman Daniel Levy and managing director Fabio Paritici to make his stance clear but says it will be “okay” if they do not add further.

Conte said: “I spoke with the club, with Paritici and Daniel Levy and told them my opinion.
“The most important thing is they know that. If we do something or not, it’s okay.” More

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has been confronted with a midfield crisis early into the season with Thiago, Curtis Jones, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain all sustaining injuries.
Caicedo, a £4.5m signing from Independiente in February 2021, has caught the attention of the top six after impressing under Potter.
He was loaned out to Beerschot of Belgium for the first half of last season before returning to spark Brighton’s late surge up the table.
Brighton have lost only one of the 12 league games Caicedo, 20, has started, away to Manchester City in April.

Winger, father and AUTHOR and still only 22… Man Utd’s £84m transfer Antony is proof you can’t judge a book by its cover

HE WROTE a book, became a dad and made his debut for Brazil’s Under-23s — all at the grand old age of 19.So Manchester United should not be too worried about whether winger Antony — their new arrival from Ajax — is mature enough to handle being the third most expensive signing in the club’s history.

Brazil international Antony came through the ranks at Sau Paulo
Yet £84million is still a hell of a lot for a player who has made a massive name for himself but outside one of Europe’s so-called top five leagues. It is still a risk.
Set to feature in Dutch football’s biggest-ever transfer, Antony, 22, has nevertheless repeatedly taken everything in his stride, so maybe the latest chapter of his career will be no different.
After moving from South America to Ajax in 2020, with both Manchester City and Everton failing with bids, Antony took his game to a new level and now follows manager Erik ten Hag and defender Lisandro Martinez from Amsterdam to Manchester.
For Ajax, this is yet more brilliant business. Their sales have rocketed to £193m this summer — including Martinez’s £48.3m switch to United — while their expenditure has been £91m.

Antony has proved to be a hit in Holland even though club legend Marco van Basten slammed his record move from Sao Paulo, which was worth £13m but could end up nearer £18m.
Van Basten, who has now probably changed his tune, said: “At Ajax, they have a very big mouth.

“Our youth education is so great. And then you are going to buy a youth player for a mega amount. Something is wrong then.
“If you hit yourself so terribly in the chest that the youth education is so great, then of course it is ridiculous that you are going to buy a youth player from Brazil for 25 million euros.”

Born Antony Matheus Dos Santos, he joined the academy of local club Sao Paulo, aged ten.
He helped them win the J League World Challenge in Japan and was named best player, leading to his first professional contract, aged 18, in 2018.
Just 12 months later Antony became a father to son Lorenzo and made his debut for Brazil U-23s, playing alongside Bruno Guimaraes, now at Newcastle.
Antony then penned From Overcoming A Real Dream, a diary about the pressures of being a rising star in Brazil.
He detailed his issues in the Sao Paulo youth set-up and revealed he was close to being released three times.
Following his debut for Sao Paulo, Tottenham’s Lucas Moura congratulated the youngster and told him to “work hard” and keep playing matches.
Antony has since developed a close friendship with Moura.
He is just 5ft 9in tall, plays on the right side of midfield or attack and is renowned for cutting in on his left foot.

Despite interest from the Premier League, Antony moved to Ajax in 2020, earning about £12,000-a-week.
On arrival, his new Brazilian team-mates released a rap in his honour.
David Neres and Danilo recorded a track called Bem-vindo Antony  (Welcome Antony), written by Sarita Lorena, a Brazilian who had been living in Holland for many years.
Antony, a devout Catholic with a love of jet-skiing, became a revelation at the Johan Cruyff Arena, winning two Eredivisie titles under Ten Hag.
He continued his fine form at the start of the season, scoring once and adding two assists in the first two Eredivisie games before he was left out for the clash with Sparta Rotterdam.
Although still a newcomer on the international stage, Antony will hope to star at the World Cup in Qatar.
He made his senior Brazilian debut against Venezuela in a World Cup qualifier ten months ago and has now appeared nine times.
But over the past few months, Antony has fallen out with Ajax.
He said: “In February of this year, my agents came to Amsterdam to inform Ajax of my desire to leave the club.
“In June, I interrupted my vacation and came personally to inform the managers of Ajax, including the new coach, about my wish to leave and that they should consider this possibility.”
And on Friday, he said: “In a meeting with the club, I expressed my old interest in leaving, only this time with a considerable offer on the table.

“Ajax refused, with an argument that they only have five days to replace me.”
