Dele Alli hits new low as Besiktas boss publicly slams ‘below expectations’ performances on loan transfer from Everton

DELE ALLI has been publicly slammed by his manager at Besiktas after a string of poor performances. After an initially bright start in Turkey, Alli has failed to score or notch an assist in any of his last five games.

And his performances have seen him substituted in every single one, with the most recent game seeing him hooked at half-time.
Manager Senol Gunes made his thoughts on Alli’s form very transparent.
He said: “I couldn’t affect the players [yet], now I can easily touch them, but we haven’t touched Dele Alli yet.
“Let’s not discuss Dele Alli as a player, but he is below expectations in terms of efficiency.”

Alli moved to Besiktas on loan from Everton in the summer in the hopes of reigniting his career.
The former England international has seen his career trajectory fall off the face of the Earth in the last few years.
He first struggled towards the end of Mauricio Pochettino’s reign at Tottenham, before being found wanting for both game time and form under the Argentine’s successors.
He then sealed a free transfer to Everton in January 2022 – though performance-related bonuses could have seen it rise all the way up to £40million.

However, he failed to impress Toffees coach Frank Lampard and he was shipped out on loan to Besiktas in the hopes of sparking his career back into life.
And for Alli’s sake, hopefully the recent criticism lights a fire under him which can help him get back to the standards which saw him tipped as a star for the future.
If the 26-year-old can find some form and inspire his club back into Europe it may convince them to trigger the £6m purchase clause built into the loan deal. More

United have been long-term admirers of Aarons and were one of eight clubs who scouted the 22-year-old at England Under-21s victory over Germany at Bramall Lane in September.
Aarons, valued at £10million by Norwich, is one option in the frame with Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong also understood to be under consideration.
Ten Hag hailed first-choice Dalot’s improvement after the Portugal right-back produced an impressive display in the 1-0 Premier League victory over West Ham on Sunday.
But the Dutchman also sent a clear message that he wants to bolster the competition in his squad with out-of-favour Wan-Bissaka playing just four minutes for United in all competitions this season.

Ten Hag said: “We need two good full-backs [on the left and the right] because we have a lot of games to come.”
Highly-rated Aarons has made 19 appearances for fifth-placed Championship outfit Norwich this season.
The Canaries rejected a loan bid with an option to buy from Borussia Monchengladbach for Aarons in August with ex-Norwich boss Daniel Farke keen to be reunited with him in Germany.
The Carrow Road club also snubbed loan offers from Serie A duo Atalanta and Monza.

BRIGHTON are reportedly interested in signing Shakhtar Donetsk defender Mykola Matviyenko in the January transfer window. The 26-year-old, who can play as a centre-half or left-back, was linked with a move to Arsenal back in 2020 before they brought in Pablo Mari.

But now it is Brighton who are keen to bring him to the Premier League following the appointment of manager Roberto De Zerbi.
The Italian head coach, 43, worked with Matviyenko during his one season with Shakhtar.
And according to The Athletic, he is now hoping to link up with him once more on the south coast.
It is thought Ukrainian international Matviyenko would set Brighton back around £17.2million.

But given they raked in £62m for the sale of Marc Cucurella to Chelsea during the summer, it is understood they have the funds to reinvest into the team.
Matviyenko has played 144 times for Shakhtar and won two league titles.
He has also received 54 caps from the Ukraine national team and was a part of the side which reached the quarter-finals of last year’s European Championships.

Brighton secured their first win under their new manager on Saturday afternoon as they thrashed Potter’s new side Chelsea 4-1 at the Amex Stadium.
The result takes them back up to eighth in the table, with Premier League games against Wolves and Aston Villa before the break for the World Cup. More

Arsenal send scouts to watch Brazil and Palmeiras midfield youngster Danilo ahead of January transfer swoop

ARSENAL reportedly sent scouts to watch Palmeiras and Brazil midfielder Danilo last week. The Gunners are thought to be interested in signing the 21-year-old youngster in January, with SunSport confirming recently that Mikel Arteta is set to splash £50million in the mid-season window.
Danilo is being heavily linked with a move to the EmiratesCredit: Getty
And, according to journalist Ekrem Konur, they stepped up their pursuit of the international by having club representatives monitor him during Palmeiras’ 3-1 win over Athletico Paranaense.
However, it did not go as Danilo or the Arsenal scouts would have planned as the holding midfielder was substituted at half-time.
The Brazilian international made way for Gabriel Menino – a change which turned the game.
Danilo’s departure came with Palmeiras 1-0 down, before they went on to win the game 3-1.

As a result, it was not the most glowing of lights for Arsenal to see Danilo in.
However, it is believed they remain keen and could try to prize him away in January for a fee of around £26m.
Arsenal have a reputation for signing Brazilian talent for a cut-price, with Gabriel Martinelli arriving for £6m in 2019 and Marquinhos for £3m this summer.
But that will be a difficult task given he is a key player in Palmeiras’ squad and has a contract which runs until 2026.

He has made 137 appearances for the club, scoring 12 goals.
And his performances have seen him catch the eye of Brazil manager Tite – who called him up to the national team earlier this year.
But he is yet to receive his first cap so a place in their World Cup squad is still uncertain.
That could prove to be good news for Arsenal as a move to Europe is something reports suggest could help with his hopes of going to Qatar.

The Brazilian season also concludes before the World Cup, making it an opportune time for Danilo to move.
As well as Danilo, Arsenal are also reportedly interested in Shakhtar Donetsk’s young Ukrainian international Mykhaylo Mudryk and Villarreal’s exciting 20-year-old winger Yeremy. More

Manchester United were previously linked with Kessie before he decided to join Barca.
But Atangana vowed Kessie will work hard to earn a place in Xavi’s team after turning down other offers in the summer in favour of the Spaniards.

Mudryk, 21, is taking football by storm with some top performances for his Ukrainian side.
The versatile winger already has five goals in just eight games this season.
And SunSport exclusively revealed this week that Mudryk is one of THREE signings Mikel Arteta hopes to make in January.
It’s believed Arsenal had a bid rejected for the attacker late in the summer window.

Club chiefs are aware there is plenty of interest in Mudryk from across Europe, with Man City reportedly joining the race.
That has driven up his value, and Shakhtar are also looking at fees paid for similar talents at the same age.

Man Utd landed Brazilian winger Antony, 21, from Ajax over the summer, paying £85m.
And Shakhtar insist they value Mudryk MORE than Ajax valued Antony, meaning Arsenal may have to pay through the nose to get a deal done.
Deputy sporting director Carlo Nicolini told Calciomercato: “Together with Kylian Mbappe, Rafa Leao and Vinicius Jr, Mudryk is the strongest player in his role.
“Is £35m enough to buy him? We don’t speak for these figures, not even for £45m, we don’t even call the president to make the offer.
“We value Mudryk more than United’s Antony – £85m. Floating between Arsenal and Man City? They are two teams that have taken an interest in the player.
