MANCHESTER CITY’S pursuit of Marc Cucurella has come to an abrupt end after Brighton ended negotiations, according to reports.Cucurella has been extensively linked with the Premier League champions this window over a possible transfer.

However, it now seems a deal could be dead in the water after Brighton took issue with Man City’s negotiation tactics coming down to small incremental increases in their offer.
The Athletic report Brighton will now only come back to the negotiating table if City submit an offer which meets their valuation of the player.
They have told Pep Guardiola’s side to cough up at least £50million in order to sign the defender, but the latest bid came in at just £30m.

The Seagulls signed Cucurella from La Liga outfit Getafe last summer for £15m, and could more than treble their money if City meet their valuation.
Cucurella won the club’s Player of the Year award following his dazzling displays last season.
The 24-year-old typically operated as a left wing-back last season, but was also deployed as a left-sided centre-back in Graham Potter’s back three when needed.
The club are said to value him as a rarer and better talent than former academy star Ben White, who was sold to Arsenal for £50m last summer.

STEVEN GERRARD has revealed he was ‘tapped up’ by Real Madrid back in 2010.The Aston Villa boss, 42, spent virtually his entire career with Liverpool and will go down in history as one of the game’s greatest midfielders.

The 22-year-old had previously been the subject of interest from Brighton and Atalanta.
Tavares has been seen as a squad player since joining The Gunners last summer, filling in when first-choice left-back Kieran Tierney was out injured.
And following the £32million arrival of Oleksandr Zinchenko from Man City his minutes were set to be limited further this season.
He joins Sead Kolasinac, William Saliba and Matteo Guendouzi as players who have swapped the red of Arsenal for the blue of Marseille.

And instead the Foxes have offered their star midfielder an improved contract to convince him to stay.
According to The Telegraph, the mega-rich Toon submitted the offer on Friday but Brendan Rodgers’ side were having none of it – and would demand significantly more money for arguably their most valuable asset.
Now the Magpies are deliberating on whether to go back in with a bigger bid.
If they do and are successful, Maddison would become Newcastle’s new record signing, surpassing the £40m they paid for Joelinton.

LEEDS have completed the signing of 18-year-old wonderkid Sonny Perkins.The attacker, who left West Ham when his contract expired at the end of June, has signed a three-year deal with the Whites.

He will join up with the club’s Under-21s to prepare for the upcoming season.
Perkins spent most of his youth career with Leyton Orient before joining West Ham in 2019.
He made his first team debut for the Hammers last year during a Europa League clash with Rapid Vienna.
He then went on to make his Premier League debut against Leeds in January.

NEWCASTLE are set to beat Chelsea and Everton to the signing of Maxwel Cornet by triggering his release clause, reports suggest.The Magpies are looking for ways to bolster their attack after enduring a frustrating window in trying to bring in competition for Callum Wilson.
