Tottenham flop Tanguy Ndombele agrees loan transfer to Napoli with option to buy after disastrous £65m move

NAPOLI are reportedly on the verge of signing Tottenham midfielder Tanguy Ndombele on a season-long loan.Ndombele, 25, joined Spurs in 2019 for a club-record £65million fee.

However, his inconsistent performances have left both fans and first-team coaches unimpressed.
The Frenchman fell out-of-favour with Antonio Conte last season which ultimately led to him being sent back to Lyon on a short-term loan.
But, upon his return to London he was ‘banished’ from first-team training by the Spurs boss, who told him that he must find another club before the transfer window closes in September.
According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, a move away is finally on the cards for Ndombele.

Napoli have reached an agreement to sign the midfielder on a season-long loan from Tottenham.
The loan deal also includes an option to buy.
Napoli director Cristiano Giuntoli reportedly met with Ndombele’s representatives in Paris earlier this week to discuss personal terms.
The Frenchman also attracted interest from the likes of Galatasaray, AC Milan and Villarreal, but The Blues were first to hold positive talks with Spurs.

Four Premier League keepers nominated for world’s best goalie including Chelsea ace Mendy but all look set to miss out

FOUR Premier League goalkeepers have been nominated for the prestigious Ballon d’Or Yashin Trophy 2022.The Prem quartet consists of Liverpool stopper Alisson, Man City No1 Ederson, Tottenham’s first choice Hugo Lloris and Chelsea’s Edouard Mendy.

However, it’s unlikely any of the aforementioned group will win the prize as Real Madrid’s Thibaut Courtois is favourite to lift the gong for world’s best keeper.
Alisson played a key role in helping the Reds attain the domestic double – consisting of the FA and League Cup last season.
The Brazilian is no stranger to the award as he scooped it when it was launched in 2019.

Meanwhile, Lloris inspired Tottenham to clinch the Prem’s fourth spot in the previous campaign.
While Ederson ensured City won their second Prem title in a row.
Blues stopper Mendy narrowly missed out on last year’s Yashin prize to AC Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.
And he’s set for heartache once again after Cortouis’ heroics meant Los Blancos were the worthy winners of the La Liga and Champions League.

Yashin trophy nominees 2022Award to be presented at Ballon d’Or award ceremony 2022

    Edouard Mendy (Chelsea/Senegal)
    Ederson (Man City/Brazil)
    Manuel Neuer (Bayern Munich/Germany)
    Thibaut Courtois (Real Madrid/Belgium)
    Jan Oblak (Atletico Madrid/Slovenia)
    Alisson (Liverpool/Brazil)
    Hugo Lloris (Tottenham/France)
    Yassine Bounou (Sevilla/Morrocco)
    Mike Maignan (AC Milan/France)

The remarkable feat has propelled Courtois above his Prem rivals in the race for the award.
But he’s also got to thwart competition from Atletico Madrid goalie Jan Oblak, Bayern Munich’s Manuel Neuer, Sevilla stopper Yassine Bounou, AC Milan’s Mike Maignan, plus Eintracht Frankfurt counterpart Kevin Trapp – to clinch the coveted prize.
And for the first time since 2005, the Yashin trophy winner won’t share the stage with Lionel Messi who’s been left off the 30-man Ballon d’Or shortlist after a poor debut season at PSG.
Messi retained the award for the seventh time last year, but he won’t be given the opportunity to win it for an eighth.
The Argentine’s omission caused fury amongst football fans who took to social media to express frustration over his absence.
However, Cristiano Ronaldo is in with a shout of clinching the prize this year despite a tumultuous spell with Man United last season.
Other stars on the shortlist include Real hotshot Karim Benzema, former Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger, and Reds attacker Mo Salah.
Courtois also made the list – but a goalie will never win the prize with the likes of Benzema gunning for it, he thinks.
If successful, the Belgian will be the first keeper since Russian ace Lev Yashin to lift the Ballon d’Or who done so in 1963.
His amazing feat led to the Yashin award being named after him. More

Barcelona star Frenkie de Jong was United’s first choice but he’s reportedly on the brink of sealing a switch to Chelsea for a sum of £67.6million.
De Jong’s reluctance to move to United, who had a deal in place with the Dutch ace’s agent, has led them to ramp up their interest in Rabiot.
The proceedings have progressed well thus far with the Red Devils agreeing a fee with Juve of up to £20m for Rabiot.
Although negotiations have hit a stumbling block due to Rabiot’s hefty wage demands.

Which is why the Red Devils sent club chief John Murtough to Turin in order to try and iron out any disparities between the parties.
But Murtough’s got his work cut out convincing Rabiot’s mother and agent Veronique to accept less than the £8.5m she and her son are demanding.
However, Juve are already planning for life without Rabiot if Murtough’s successful.
The Serie A giants reckon Blues maestro Jorginho call fill the void left by Rabiot in the middle of the park, according to PA.

The Bianconeri feel optimistic that they can convince Chelsea to sell the Italy international.
Their cause will be helped if the Blues get the De Jong deal over the line.
Plus, Jorginho may be open to a move back home as he’s only got a year left on his Blues contract and is yet to pen a new deal.
And he fuelled speculation that his exit could be imminent last month when he gave an ambiguous response to a question regarding his Chelsea future. More

Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha, Franck Kessie and Andreas Christensen finally got the green light just 24 hours before kick off.
However, defender Kounde cannot play as Barcelona still need to free up more of the wage bill in order to get the Frenchman registered before the end of the month.
The star is still recovering from a pubis operation and was unlikely to feature at the Nou Camp anyway, but the club remain confident they will get it over the line in time.
Barcelona sold a further 24.5 per cent of Barca Studios today which, after the Spanish League’s Economic Control department reviewed the details, enabled them to confirm the four new players in their squad.

And both Sergio Roberto and Ousmane Dembele, who each signed new contracts this summer, were registered aswell.
The head of the Orpheus Media company, Jaume Roures, that purchased part of Barcelona’s in-house production company had stated he believed the club would be able to field all of their big names.
He said: “I would not have interrupted my holidays if it were not to ensure that we can see all the best players (in the first game of the season).”
Barcelona are still trying to bring in extra revenue before the end of the month in order to get Kounde registered.

Man Utd ‘one injury away from a problem’ says Ten Hag as boss demands club spend more on transfers before window ends

United fans have looked on with envy while rivals have splashed out this summer.
The club face Brentford tonight after an opening Premier League defeat 2-1 to Brighton last weekend.
Ten Hag, whose side will wear a garish green third kit at Brentford, said: “It is much better to get the players in earlier because then you get them earlier in the process and now we are in the department of midfield and offence, you have seen, when we have one injury then we have a problem. That’s clear.”
Asked if they needed to strengthen before the transfer deadline he said: “We have to.”
United have signed full-back Tyrell Malacia, centre-back Lisandro Martinez and midfielder Christian Eriksen all while the club were already on their pre-season tour.
They have failed to get a striker, with an embarrassing attempt to sign Marko Arnautovic, 33, from Bologna this week.
They have continuously tried but failed to get number one midfield target Frenkie de Jong from Barcelona and are in tough negotiations with Adrien Rabiot’s mother and agent Veronique to get him despite Juventus ready to sell.
With Martial still struggling with a hamstring problem, they are left having to pick a player against Brentford today who does not even want to be at United in Ronaldo.

Yet ten Hag insists he is working as if Ronaldo is staying for the season and that the player has not told him he wants to go.
He said: “That is not what he is telling me.”
Ten Hag was evasive about whether Ronaldo told him he wants to stay at Old Trafford.
Ten Hag said: “So I deal with the players we have and we plan with him for this season and we are happy with him and we have to fit him into the team.
“So he has to come at the right fitness levels so that he can do the job that we expect him to do.”
Ten Hag also claims that he has faith in Marcus Rashford, who missed two good chances against Brighton, and he will not be going anywhere despite apparent interest from PSG.
He said: “He knows I love him, he knows I want him to be here so I will tell him that again.
“He’s really important, you have seen from the first day I’m here, I’m really happy with him, I don’t want to lose him, he’s definitely in our plans at Manchester United.
“He showed already in the short time I’ve been here, in pre-season, what he can do.
“Last week he was twice in a position where he could score.
“He was in the right moment in the right place and I know and I trust he will finish in the future.”

The midfielder, 25, currently on around £60,000 a week, was expected to leave this summer but Manchester United and Arsenal were put off by Wolves’ £80million price tag.
Now the former Porto midfielder, who cost £15m in 2017, has been made captain following the departure of Conor Coady to Everton.
And Lage sees Neves as a huge part of Wolves’ future.
The Portuguese boss said: “We are working on a new deal for Ruben.

Wolves have splashed out almost £50m this summer on Nathan Collins and Goncalo Guedes, while losing Coady, Romain Saiss, Fernando Marcal, loanee Francisco Trincao and John Ruddy.
Lage is promising fans up to FOUR more permanent signings before the transfer window shuts.
He added: “I’m trying to convince three or four players to come to Wolves.
“I want to push to convince the right players to come to help us.”
Asked if they would be loans, Lage added: “No – we have got expectations that all these things can happen.
“Be patient with me and trust me because I am putting a lot of pressure on the people that we can bring in the right players to make us a better squad.
“I said I wanted Guedes on June 7 last year so it took me 14 months, so believe in me.” More

Troy Deeney: Lingard played a blinder with lucrative Forest deal… he’ll forget fan jibes and let his feet do the talking

JESSE LINGARD is a good friend of mine. I know him really well.I have seen the criticism he has faced for his decision to join Nottingham Forest over West Ham, and the fact he is now earning good money.

The Hammers fans are planning on throwing fake notes at him when the two teams meet at the City Ground on Sunday.
If I were Jesse, I would do my talking with my feet on the pitch, which will ultimately hurt them more than any direct reaction.
It is OK for fans to mock a player regarding the money he is on, but the player is supposed to have the moral high ground because he earns a certain amount?
Just because he earns those wages, it doesn’t mean fans can ridicule him and not expect something back.
    READ MORE FOOTBALL
We live in a weird world where everyone wants you to do what they think you should do at that moment in time.
But, everyone who is complaining right now, put them in Jesse’s shoes in this situation and they would do exactly the same thing.

If you worked at Asda, and Morrisons offered you double the money, every person who works at Asda is going to Morrisons.
But if you work in football and you’ve been offered double the money, you should stay and be loyal to that team? I don’t understand.
He was a free agent. He can do and choose whatever he wants to invest in himself and his family.

And from a monetary point of view, he has played an absolute blinder.
Tell me someone who has left a top club like Manchester United, signed for a side with the history and the fanbase and the manager in Steve Cooper, on a one-year deal, doubling the money you were earning at United, then have a one-year option in your favour if you want to.
Tell me where that happens? It has never happened.
It is an unbelievable deal for him.
He is going to play for them week in, week out.
Jesse will also back himself and think: ‘If I can score and shine in this team, I’ll probably get myself in and around the World Cup set-up’.
Going back to West Ham, he would have had to already hit the ground running because that’s what he did the first time around.
During that loan spell in east London in the 2020-21 season for David Moyes’ side, he was on fire.
He scored nine goals in 16 appearances.
If he had started against Manchester City this time around for West Ham, not done anything and then started this week against Forest and didn’t play well, those same people complaining now would instead be saying: ‘Ah, he doesn’t care anymore’.
The narrative has been set on him whatever he does and it isn’t fair.
No matter which way he goes, you can’t win.
    Jesse is his own man.
He is a big boy now and he can do what he wants and will always do what he wants.
Antonio Conte has Tottenham set-up for a great campaignCredit: Getty
    DEDICATED FOLLOWER OF PASSION
WITH Italian coaches, emotional and intense is the best way to describe it.
But the one thing the Italians have is an undeniable passion for football and, under their leadership and style of play, you become a better footballer.
Your football intelligence goes through the roof.
If you are feeling fit and strong and one step ahead, it can only benefit.
If I was playing for Antonio Conte then I would give up EVERYTHING I thought I knew about football and start listening to him.
The Tottenham squad will have accepted that Conte is a natural, serial winner. So anything that comes with that needs to be accepted, too.
The thing is, every player would run through a brick wall for their manager when things are going well. Not so much when it’s not.
They are all buying into it right now, though, and you have to be ready to work to get results. I know Conte came out last season and pointed the finger, perhaps more at the board, but all he was saying was: ‘I will leave if we don’t improve the squad’.
I have worked with a lot of Italian coaches, players, directors of football, owners, and the coaches have never pointed the finger at his own players.
If anything, they think you should work with you more, they want to be more invested in what we are doing, look at more details and be more prepared.
It is about everyone raising their standards.
And now, after the successful summer they have had in the transfer market, the ownership at Tottenham can turn around and say: ‘We have delivered, now give us something back’.
There will be a grace period between November or December where everyone watches and if it works then they could go again in January.
I think Tottenham will close that gap at the top of the Premier League — they are now the closest team to Manchester City and Liverpool ahead of their trip to face Chelsea on Sunday.
I just think Tottenham have got so much better as a team that I would not be surprised if Harry Kane ends up scoring FEWER goals this season just because he wants to sacrifice it for his manager. More

Barcelona ‘must pay Ousmane Dembele HALF of transfer fee if sold’ with new release clause at £42MILLION after pay cut

BARCELONA will reportedly have to pay Ousmane Dembele HALF of any transfer fee should they sell him within the next two years. The French star, who had been linked with Chelsea, looked set to depart the Nou Camp this summer after an injury ravaged five years there since joining from Borussia Dortmund.
New details of Ousmane Dembele’s Barcelona contract have been revealedCredit: Rex
However, he ended speculation over his future by recently penning a new two-year contract rather than leaving as a free agent in June.
Now Spanish publication Sport have released details of his mega new package.
The 25-year-old will allegedly earn around £17million a year.
Dembele will pocket at least £13.5m gross for each year of his contract and could net a further £3.4m through bonuses each campaign.

That means that the attacker could earn nearly £34m across his contract over the next two seasons.
And the ex-Rennes player will also receive 50 percent of any transfer fee should he be sold – with his contract including a release clause of £42m.
That could tempt Dembele to leave before the end of his contract with the potential to bank an extra £21m on top of his salary.
Dembele cost Barcelona a whopping £120m back in 2017 but he has struggled to make an impact due to a number of injury problems.
