New Man Utd transfer Casemiro was brought-up in poverty-stricken neighbourhood after dad walked out on family aged five

CASEMIRO became a father figure at Real Madrid despite his dad walking out on him when he was five. The Brazilian, 30, battled a troubled upbringing in a poverty-stricken neighbourhood called Sao Jose Dos Campos just outside of São Paulo.

His father abandoned him, his two siblings and their mother Maria – who was forced to juggle numerous jobs to make ends meet.
Casemiro, as the eldest child, bravely stepped up to be the man of the house and it shaped him into the great leader he is today.
In 2018 the midfielder said: “If I see him on the street today, I won’t recognise him,
“He had a serious fight with my mother when I was five and left the family for my mother to manage.

“I’ve wanted to meet him because I have no grudge against him. It was what God wanted for me. That’s why I have always left it just the way it is.”
Manchester United’s shiny £70million signing will no doubt have been thinking back to his humble beginnings when he rocked up to the club’s plush Carrington base for his first day of training on Thursday.
When the midfielder flew the nest at age 11 to play for Sao Paulo’s youth team he was left stunned by simply having his own bedroom, food, air conditioning and a TV for the first time.
Who knows what was going through his head when he actually played at the Theatre of Dreams at age 15 with Sao Paolo in the Nike Cup.

Casemiro never forgets his past and once broke down in tears in 2018 in an interview when he recalled not being able to afford a particular Brazilian yoghurt drink as a kid.
Through tears he said: “As a child I always wanted to drink these, but we never had the money. It didn’t cost much, around 20 cents.”
Those memories only made him stronger and his Real Madrid teammates have tipped him to become a world-class manager when he eventually hangs up his boots.
Spanish football expert Guillermo Raimundo told SunSport: “He came from a poor background and that has helped his character.
“He is a leader because he knows his origins and that’s always in his mind.
“Casemiro was a leader at Real, a big voice, everyone heard him. Among the Brazilian players he was like a father to the youngsters Vini Jr, Rodrigo and Militao.
“He doesn’t need to be a captain to be a leader. I think the same will happen at United.”
    TAKE NO PRISONERS
The Brazilian battler is certainly expected to thrive in the blood and thunder of the English top-flight.
Barcelona journalists describe Casemiro as the “bad guy in a movie who you want on your team but not against it” that is known in parts of Spain “as a bit of a b***ard.”
Prem officials might be quaking in their boots considering he orders dossiers on every referee so he knows how best to deal with them.
Casemiro is no stranger to a tough tackle and was booked 16 times last season in 48 matches.
He enjoyed a glittering nine-year spell at the Bernabeu, most notably winning five Champions Leagues and three LaLiga titles after arriving in 2013.
The Brazilian was loved at Los Blancos particularly by his midfield pals Toni Kroos and Luka Modric who personally wrote a joint farewell letter to him ahead of his United transfer.
Casemiro built a great relationship with Real president Florentino Perez and it is thought it will not take him long to seduce the under-fire Glazers.
Raimundo added: “He loves to learn the philosophy of a club. He was born at Real Madrid and I think the same thing will happen at United.

“He will have a good relationship with everyone at the club and that will help him to adapt.
“He had a great relationship with Florentino Perez and I’m sure he will with the United directors.” More

Chelsea transfer for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang stalling with Blues only willing to give Barcelona ace one-year deal

THOMAS TUCHEL’S hope of a reunion with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is stalling over personal terms. The Barcelona striker wants a deal for at least two years while Chelsea are only prepared to offer a one season contract.

Aubameyang is 33 and Chelsea are mindful of his age and committing to a long term agreement – broadly in line with their policy on older players.
It is still hoped a compromise will be reached and that the former Arsenal captain will return to the Premier League before next Thursday’s transfer deadline.
Tuchel wants Aubameyang to join him at Stamford Bridge and provide the outlet needed in front of goal as an out-and-out centre forward with bags of experience.
At present Chelsea are relying on the use of so-called “false nines” – using attacking midfielder Kai Havertz or Raheem Sterling in the striker’s usual position.
    READ MORE ON CHELSEA
Tuchel can call on rookie Armando Broja but the 20-year-old Albanian has only one full term under his belt in the Premier League on loan at Southampton last season where he impressed, scoring nine goals.
Aubameyang has a deal until 2025 at Barcelona although there is a chance to re-negotiate at the end of this season.

He played for Tuchel previously at Borussia Dortmund and the pair remain close.
Chelsea are reluctant to hand out long term contracts to players over 30 and have encountered problems in the past with this.

Defender David Luiz and winger Willian left as a result.
Current captain Cesar Azpilicueta was tempted to leave in the summer when Barcelona offered him a longer contract than was on offer at Stamford Bridge, although he stayed in the end.
Chelsea and Barcelona are largely in agreement over Aubameyang with a fee of around £25m to be paid – but it now needs the player and the club to sort out terms. More

Chelsea reach agreement over Wesley Fofana transfer after late breakthrough with Leicester over £70m-plus deal

CHELSEA have finally reached an agreement to sign Leicester star Wesley Fofana. The Blues will pay an initial £70million fee plus hefty add-ons for the Frenchman following weeks of talks.
Chelsea have reached an agreement with Leicester to sign Wesley FofanaCredit: Reuters
And the centre-back is now set to pen a six-year deal until 2028 at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea were ready to walk away after a third offer, totalling £70m, was rejected by Leicester on Tuesday.
But after going back in with a fourth offer with improved terms, City have buckled.
Fofana made it clear to Brendan Rodgers he was desperate to join Thomas Tuchel’s side when the first bid arrived this month.
    READ MORE ON CHELSEA
The France U21 star was left out of last weekend’s 2-1 defeat to Southampton after claiming he wasn’t in the right state of mind to play.
And Rodgers earlier confirmed Fofana would play no part in Leicester’s match against Chelsea tomorrow.
Leicester had maintained Fofana would stay put after rejecting several offers from Chelsea.
They were holding out for a world-record fee in excess of £80m.

But a breakthrough in talks was reached this week, with the Blues submitting an acceptable bid on Friday.
The Foxes are set to make a tasty profit on £75m Fofana, having signed him for £36.5m from Saint Etienne in 2020.
He impressed in 38 outings during his debut season at the King Power Stadium.
But a leg break limited him to just 12 outings last term.
Fofana will now battle for a spot in Chelsea’s back five, with a place on the right of Thiago Silva up for grabs.
However, his arrival also raises the possibility of Tuchel trying out a back four.
    NEW STAR, NEW STYLE?
The German previously said he needed another powerful centre-back to make the switch, with natural full-backs Cesar Azpilicueta and Marc Cucurella not suitable.
But a fresh injury blow for N’Golo Kante means Tuchel is likely to stick with his tried-and-trusted formation for now.
He explained: “I told you at the end of last season he (Kante) is our key player normally. He gives something to our team that no other player in the world can give to any other team. That makes him a key player.
“If your key player is out, it’s a situation you don’t like but have to deal with. It has huge influence.
“It’s difficult to replace him, he’s very unique. We were full of hope after pre-season because we built his pre-season very individual.
“If we build another system, I don’t know. We have trust in our players. It will maybe be the same system.
    Read More on The Sun
“We played many games, unfortunately, without him in the same structure. It will be slightly different because every player is a bit different.
“That is the challenge to adapt to this, use different players differently. To change completely because N’Golo is not there, I don’t think so.” More

However, the Dutchman’s former club believe the fee is not enough and have snubbed it.
Ajax’s decision is said to have left Antony “upset”, as the Brazilian has his heart set on a move to Old Trafford.
Antony is eager to be reunited with Ten Hag, who has already raided Ajax for Lisandro Martinez.
And the winger is “disappointed” with Ajax as his transfer saga is set to rumble on until deadline day next week.

Reports yesterday claimed Antony had informed Ajax he wanted to join United in the next 48 hours.
SunSport exclusively revealed on Wednesday night that the Red Devils are confident of completing a move by next Thursday.

But Antony was hoping to wrap up his switch this weekend.
And United could now end up paying £80m to get a deal over the line.

Should a deal go through, it could see Anthony Elanga leave on loan.
The United youngster was in fine form during Monday’s win against Liverpool.
But the addition of Antony to Ten Hag’s squad would see his minutes limited.
Everton are among those thought to be interested in a loan swoop.
That’s because the Toffees themselves risk losing Anthony Gordon to Chelsea. More

But an inquiry for Wolves’ Portuguese international Pedro Neto has been rebuffed.
And the club are not going to pay silly money after already forking out £120million to sign Gabriel Jesus, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Fabio Vieira, Matt Turner and Marquinhos this summer.
Arteta said: “Part of the plan we have been preparing for the last two months was that Pepe could leave and now that is a reality.
“We have done our business in a different way this year.

“We bought players at the start of the window before getting others out and that was a bit more risky.
“Now we have let a player go and maybe we’ll be able to recruit somebody else.

“But it’s not a guarantee and we must wait to see whether that will be possible.

And broke Barcelona want to get rid of Braithwaite to ease their financial worries.
The Danish striker has so far refused all transfer offers to leave.
And Braithwaite will only accept terminating his contract if his wages are met in full.
That amounts to £98,000-a-week for the next two years.

And the Mail claims Braithwaite is seeking an immediate £4m total payment before agreeing to Barcelona’s wishes.
However, the Catalans have no intention of reaching that figure.
They are instead happy to pay off one year of Braithwaite’s salary, which amounts to £2m.
It’s believed the ex-Middlesbrough man currently has an offer on the table from LaLiga rivals Mallorca.

But he is determined to hold out until his demands are met by Barca.
Earlier this month, it was claimed the Spaniards are ready to do whatever it takes to offload Braithwaite before his salary counts towards LaLiga’s limits for this season.

Barcelona are now exploring legal options that will allow them not to pay his entire contract.
And they are also considering terminating Braithwaite’s deal on transfer deadline day to leave him without a club until January.
Braithwaite has been at Barcelona since February 2020 after a shock move from Leganes.
He has gone on to score ten goals in 58 games.
But with Robert Lewandowski, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Memphis Depay all battling for a place in attack, Braithwaite’s chances of playing again for Barcelona are virtually zero.
