DAVID BECKHAM is reportedly open to talks with bidders about taking over at Manchester United.The Glazers confirmed on Tuesday that they are willing to sell the club.

Britain’s richest man Sir Jim Ratcliffe has already emerged as a potential suitor to purchase the Red Devils.
And according to the Financial Times, those hoping to secure a takeover could bring Beckham on board to ensure they clinch a deal.

The England legend, who boasts a net worth of around £370million, would not be able to afford a takeover on his own, but would be a valuable asset to any consortium.
As a Man Utd legend, Beckham would carry a lot of weight if he were to support a particular bid.

He spent nearly a decade in the first team at Old Trafford, winning six Premier League titles, two FA Cups and the Champions League.
Beckham contributed 85 goals and 109 assists in 388 matches under Sir Alex Ferguson.
He eventually left for Real Madrid in 2003 but remains an icon at Man Utd.
And Beckham could well choose to back Ratcliffe’s bid if the British money man should try to enlist his help.

Speaking about Man Utd back in May, Beckham said: “There are changes to be made and changes that are happening.
“There’s not many teams to have gone through what they’ve gone through in the past few years and still [be] filling out their stadium.”
The Glazers value the club at somewhere between £6bn-£8bn.
However, billionaire Ratcliffe, a Man Utd fan, will reportedly not pay any more than £5bn for the club.
Ratcliffe revealed last month that he had made a private approach to the Glazers in August, when the first rumours of a possible sale began to surface and after he had been rebuffed in his attempt to gatecrash Todd Boehly’s Chelsea purchase.
He said: “The club is deeply etched in my mind.
“I have met Joel and Avram (Glazer), who are the nicest people, proper gentlemen, really nice people – and they don’t want to sell.
“If it had been for sale in the summer, yes, we would probably have had a go, following on from the Chelsea thing.

Other possible buyers include business pair Josh Harris and David Blitzer, and basketball pair Stephen Pagliuca and Larry Tanenbaum. More

And he is now in search of a new club as he becomes a free agent for the first time in his career.
Presenter Gary Lineker brought up the topic of Ronaldo during the BBC’s coverage of the World Cup game between France and Australia.
All the pundits had their say, with Kompany giving his thoughts after Alan Shearer and Didier Drogba.
He said: “I think in the end everybody loses apart from perhaps the Manchester United manager.

“I think it’s a problem that’s resolved and he’ll move on from it, I’m sure.”
But the major talking point came when Lineker then cheekily asked him: “Take him at Burnley?”
To which the former Manchester City skipper bluntly replied: “We need players who can run.”
Lineker, Alan Shearer and Didier Drogba were left in fits of laughter following the dig.

Kompany took over Burnley in the summer following their relegation from the Premier League.
They currently sit top of the Championship table, three points clear of second place Sheffield United.
Meanwhile, Ronaldo released a short statement after his United contract was terminated.
It read: “Following talks with Manchester United, we’ve mutually agreed to end our contract.
“I love Manchester United and I love the fans, that will never ever change.
“It feels like the right time to seek a new challenge. I wish Man Utd all the best.”
Ronaldo did not receive any compensation following his United exit – missing out on £11.5million.

They were keen to get rid of his £360,000-a-week contract without compensation.
And, according to The Telegraph, they have now done just that.
The report states that United “wanted a swift, clean resolution” which they have achieved.

Ronaldo’s contract being ripped up comes off the back of his remarkable interview with Piers Morgan last week.
He criticised United, ex-manager Ralf Rangnick, current boss Erik ten Hag, and even club legends Wayne Rooney and Gary Neville.
And it culminated in the Red Devils releasing a statement on Tuesday which confirmed the two parties had gone their separate ways.
It read: “Cristiano Ronaldo is to leave Manchester United by mutual agreement, with immediate effect.

Yet despite Ronaldo missing out on more than £11m, former United team-mate Rio Ferdinand feels the Real Madrid legend will now be happy he can put this chapter of his career to bed.

He said: “I think both parties will be delighted now.
“He obviously [did] that interview with the mindset that he wanted to get out of the football club.
“But I also think that Erik ten Hag will be [very happy too].

The ex-England captain reckons the announcement was inevitable following Ronnie’s talks with Piers.

But rather than blasting Ronaldo again, Rooney instead called him a “fantastic servant” to United before wishing him the best.
Speaking on live TV with Sports 18, Roo said: “Am I surprised? No.

Rooney’s comments come after he took aim at Ronaldo several times this season.
After the Portuguese ace refused to come on as a sub against Spurs, Rooney said: “The things he has done from the start of season, it is not acceptable for Manchester United.”
But Rooney’s thoughts only served to infuriate Ronaldo.

He fired back in his Piers Morgan interview: “I don’t know why he criticises me so badly… probably because he finished his career and I’m still playing at a high level.

Ronaldo’s second spell at United came to an end on Wednesday, with the club releasing an abrupt statement.
It read: “Cristiano Ronaldo is to leave Manchester United by mutual agreement, with immediate effect.
“The club thanks him for his immense contribution across two spells at Old Trafford, scoring 145 goals in 346 appearances, and wishes him and his family well for the future.
“Everyone at Manchester United remains focused on continuing the team’s progress under Erik ten Hag and working together to deliver success on the pitch.”
Ronaldo himself released a statement too, which read: “Following talks with Manchester United, we’ve mutually agreed to end our contract.

He is now a free agent heading into the January transfer window, but it is unclear where he will end up.
However, Ronaldo appeared to rule out a return to Sporting Lisbon or transfer to Napoli during his sit-down with Morgan last week.
He initially claimed he had turned down £3MILLION PER WEEK to join a team in Saudi Arabia.
And, speaking about his future, he then said: “You go [to] the clubs. But Jorge Mendes for example, has more than 100 players and they go Chelsea, they go Arsenal, they always mention Cristiano Ronaldo, they offer Cristiano.
