Leeds are supposedly in the process of finalising the transfer with the Bundesliga club.
Rutter is on his way to Yorkshire for a medical ahead of signing a long-term contract at Elland Road, claims journalist Fabrizio Romano.
Current forward Patrick Bamford is injury prone and has not scored in ten games this term.
Therefore, manager Jesse Marsch has been desperate to bolster his attacking options as he aims to keep his side in the Premier League.

Rutter is a future star, impressing in Germany over the last two seasons.
The 20-year-old found the back of the net eight times in 33 league games in the previous campaign, regularly appearing off the substitutes bench.
This season he has scored twice in 15 appearances, being named in the starting line-up more frequently on 11 occasions.
If Rutter completes his move to Leeds, he would become the club’s most expensive ever transfer.

It would overtake the current record held by Rodrigo’s £27m switch from Valencia in the summer of 2020.
Leeds were rumoured to be keen on Blackburn’s Ben Brereton Diaz and Coventry’s Viktor Gyokeres if the deal for Rutter fell through.
He will become Marsch’s second signing of the January window after buying Maximilian Wober from RB Salzburg. More

It makes him the highest-paid sports star in the world by some margin as he prepares to finish his career with the club.
But according to Mundo Deportivo, Messi could be given the opportunity to dwarf Ronaldo’s wage packet in the coming months.
The Argentine, 35, is out of contract at Paris Saint-Germain in the summer.
Reports have claimed he has a “verbal agreement” with the Ligue 1 champions to extend his stay in the French capital.

But he is now being linked with a lucrative move to Al Hilal.
The Saudi side are the bitter rivals of Ronaldo’s Al Nassr and the two teams make up the “Riyadh derby” each year.
The deal would see Messi earn around £70m MORE than Ronaldo each year.
Al Hilal currently sit third in the Saudi Pro League, three points behind table toppers Al Nassr.

Messi also has Saudi links having signed a £25m deal to promote tourism in the country.
However, despite the huge money on offer in the Middle East, remaining at PSG is the most likely outcome for the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner.

His World Cup triumph proved he is still one of the best players in the world.
And he then marked his return to the French giants with a goal on Wednesday night as Christophe Galtier’s side claimed a 2-0 win over Angers.
Messi has already racked up 13 goals and 14 assists in 20 games for PSG this season. More

He’s hasn’t started a game since lining up against his former club Arsenal in November and has scored just three goals.
And Aubameyang has looked a shadow of his former self in recent weeks, highlighted by the fact he was subbed off after being subbed on against Manchester City last week.
As a result, AS claim the 33-year-old is unhappy at Chelsea and wants to go back to Spain.
The report states that Aubameyang is so desperate that he would be willing to return to any cost.

And he’s even been in touch with manager Xavi.
But a return to the Nou Camp is only likely to happen if Barca manage to offload Memphis Depay, who’s being linked with Atletico Madrid.

Fabrizio Romano has also claimed that the La Liga leaders would “love” the idea of re-signing the striker, but only on a free and once more stated it would hinge on Depay’s future.
Barcelona are the only club that Aubameyang can sign for because he’s already played for two teams this season.

But that was just a six-minute cameo, with his lack of game time leading many to question his future at Old Trafford.
He joined from Penarol for £9million in 2020 but has been farmed out on loan to Alaves on two separate occasions.
Pellistri did go to the World Cup with Uruguay and started their goalless draw with South Korea.
And his agent, Edgardo Lasalvia, claimed before the Qatar tournament that he would depart Man Utd if he impressed in the Middle East.

The Red Devils are eager to secure a short-term replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo after axing the Portuguese veteran in November.
According to Turkish outlet A Spor, Weghorst is collecting his things and saying goodbyes at Besiktas this morning before flying back to undergo a medical and sign for Man United.
The Red Devils will pay around £2.65million for his services until the end of the season.
The Dutchman arrived in English football 12 months ago, signing for Burnley as a replacement for Newcastle-bound Chris Wood.

His move didn’t go to plan, however, as he scored just two goals in 20 Premier League appearances as the Clarets were relegated.
He has since been in fine form after moving to Besiktas, netting nine goals in 18 appearances in all competitions for the Turkish side.
Weghorst scored against Kasimpasa in his final appearance for Besiktas last Saturday.
Prior to agreeing a deal, boss Erik ten Hag was warned by Netherlands legend Marco van Basten NOT to sign “too many Dutchmen”.

He told Ziggo Sport: ‘It can become dangerous if you have too many Dutch people and things are not going well.
“You also saw that at Barcelona, when they had five Dutch people. Then it will work against you. Ten Hag has to be careful with that.”

Wesley Sneijder, meanwhile, thinks that the transfer is a “stunt”.
The 38-year-old told Veronica Offside: “I think they’ve seen the trick with the free-kick (vs Argentina at the World Cup), so they don’t fall for that in England any more.
“In terms of a striker, is he really someone United are waiting for? I don’t think so.
“They still have 300 of those in the Premier League. It must be a stunt. This really can’t be true.”
Weghorst was claimed to have trained away from his Besiktas team-mates earlier this week after suffering with a small groin injury.
The Red Devils were previously linked with Atletico Madrid star Joao Felix.
But the Portuguese star joined Chelsea until the end of the season instead. More

Barcelona ‘ask LaLiga about Aubameyang transfer’ with Chelsea ace unable to join ANY other top European club

PIERRE-EMERICK AUBAMEYANG could be set for a return to Barcelona just five months after leaving.Spanish outlet Jijantes FC claims the Catalan club have asked La Liga about the salary they would be permitted to offer the Chelsea flop.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s only chance of staying at the highest level if he leaves Chelsea this season is a move back to BarcelonaCredit: Getty
Aubameyang, 33, joined Chelsea from Barca in a £10m deal in summer.
However, he has scored just once for the club and barely featured under boss Graham Potter.
Aubameyang has also been linked with Atletico Madrid, but such a move will not be possible in this transfer window.
Under Fifa rules, players are only allowed to play for two clubs per season.

The only exception to this rule is for players joining leagues with a different calendar (ie the MLS, which has a 2023 rather than 2022/23 season).
As Aubameyang came on as a sub for Barcelona on the opening day, he is ruled out of a move to any other major European club.
For the transfer to go through however, Barca must overcome their own financial crisis.
The report from Jijantes says that Xavi’s team must get Franck Kessie and Memphis Depay off their books to even have a chance of completing the Aubameyang deal.

However, the marquee signing of Robert Lewandowski coupled with Barca’s financial problems meant all parties decided a move to Chelsea was for the best. More

But Man Utd will need a new permanent No9 at the end of this season with manager Erik ten Hag keen to do business early.
The Manchester Evening News report that the club are already eyeing deals for Benfica’s Ramos and Kudus from Ajax.
Both are reportedly more “attainable” than other options such as Tottenham captain Harry Kane and Napoli’s Victor Oshimen, who would command large fees.
Ramos could be a natural replacement for Ronaldo – as he was for Portugal at the World Cup.

The 21-year-old netted a hat-trick against Switzerland in Qatar and is also enjoying a fine season for Benfica, scoring 15 times and assisting seven goals in 25 games.
Ten Hag reportedly could also look to shop at his former club Ajax again in the summer, having already brought two of his old players, Lisandro Martinez and Antony, to Old Trafford.
Left-footed Kudus is a versatile forward capable of playing anywhere in the attack and he has scored 10 goals in 21 games for the Amsterdam giants.
The Ghanaian also found the net twice at the World Cup and is re-discovering top form after spending five months out injured last season.
