    Chelsea make first January transfer signing as David Datro Fofana joins for £10.5m from Molde as he undergoes medical

    CHELSEA have reportedly kicked off their January transfer business with the £10.5million signing of Molde forward David Datro Fofana.The 20-year-old, who made his international debut for the Ivory Coast in 2019, is set to undergo a medical in London on Thursday.

    He enjoyed a sensational 2022 with the Norwegian outfit, scoring 22 goals in 39 appearances.
    Fofana was one of Molde’s key players as they completed a league-cup double and has now been snatched by Graham Potter before the official start of the window.
    Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has confirmed a deal has been reached between Chelsea and the player.
    He tweeted: “David Datro Fofana to Chelsea, done deal and here we go!

    “There’s full agreement between all parties, deal sealed.
    “Been told medical tests will take place today in London, on his birthday.
    “Born in 2002, Ivorian striker will join Chelsea from Molde for €12m fee.”
    Chelsea spent more than £250m in the summer as the likes of Raheem Sterling, Kalidou Koulibaly, Wesley Fofana, Marc Cucurella, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Carney Chukwuemeka arrived at Stamford Bridge.

    Yet despite a blockbuster window, Thomas Tuchel was sacked just weeks later following a poor run of results.
    Potter succeeded the German and began with a nine-match unbeaten run.
    But four defeats in a row before the World Cup break piled pressure on the ex-Brighton head coach.

    Chelsea resume their domestic campaign when they host Bournemouth in the Premier League on December 27.
    That’s followed by a trip to Nottingham Forest and a home game against champions Manchester City. More

    Arsenal prepared to wait and steal Youri Tielemans on free transfer but risk losing Leicester midfielder to rivals

    ARSENAL will attempt to sign Youri Tielemans on a free transfer when his Leicester contract expires in June, according to reports.The Gunners were heavily linked with a swoop for the Belgian midfielder throughout the summer transfer window.

    But, Mikel Arteta and sporting director Edu were reluctant to pay Leicester’s £30million asking price.
    Arsenal are still understood to be interested in tempting the Foxes ace to the Emirates, but according to Football.London they will wait until his current contract runs down.
    Tielemans will become a free agent when his contract expires at the end of June unless he is sold for a cut-price fee during the January transfer window.
    He could also have the opportunity to agree a pre-contract deal with a European club from next month, putting Arsenal’s plans to sign him at risk.

    The Gunners will be able to begin negotiations with Tielemans after the final game of the Premier League season.
    Leicester are already preparing for the midfielder’s departure with a number of potential replacements lined up.
    The Foxes have previously been linked with a move for out-of-favour Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek.
    And they have also expressed an interest in signing Moroccan midfielder Azzedine Ounahi from Angers.

    Tottenham interested in ex-Man City forgotten man Pedro Porro with Sporting Lisbon star wanted in new full-back transfer

    TOTTENHAM are interested in signing Pedro Porro, according to reports.Spurs faced the former Manchester City right wing-back in the Champions League earlier this season and were impressed by what they saw.

    Porro, 23, started both group matches against Antonio Conte’s side – including a 2-0 win over them in September.
    According to AS, Tottenham will make a move to sign the Spaniard in January.
    Porro, who was on Man City’s books between 2019 and earlier this year without ever playing for them, has a release clause of around £40million – but Spurs want to pay less to secure his services.
    A fee between £22m and £26m has been mooted, although Sporting are reluctant to sell mid-season.

    Ruben Amorim’s side will play Europa League football in the second half of the campaign, while they face a battle to qualify for next season’s Champions League.
    But Spurs may test their resolve, as they battle to prove to Conte that they can match his spending desires in the transfer market.
    The North Londoners have reportedly offered the Italian a £1m a year pay rise to extend his contract beyond the end of the season.
    But Conte is in no rush to sign, until he sees that his wishes can be fulfilled.

    Matt Doherty has started just three Prem games, all while Emerson was suspended, while summer signing Djed Spence has made just four brief substitute appearances in all competitions.
    In the midfield department, Spurs could go after Brighton’s Argentina star Alexis Mac Allister.
    The Lilywhites are claimed to be one of a trio chasing his services, along with Arsenal and Atletico Madrid.

    Newcastle looking to snap up Ivan Fresneda in January transfer but only want to pay half Real Valladolid’s asking price

    NEWCASTLE are hoping to sign Ivan Fresneda from Real Valladolid but the fee they may have to pay is double what the Magpies value him at, according to reports.The 18-year-old is seen as a top prospect and a number of clubs are monitoring him.

    Fresneda has a contract at the Spanish side until 2025, however his deal includes a £26million release clause.
    Newcastle are “serious” about signing him, claim Radio Marca Valladolid.
    But the Premier League side value him between £8million and £13million.
    The Toon are interested in signing the right-back in January, then loaning him back to the club owned by Brazilian legend Ronaldo.

    It is unclear if this is something Real Valladolid would accept.
    The club have admitted they could sell players but want to keep their squad as it is as they look to stay in the top-flight.
    Arsenal are reportedly tracking Fresneda too.

    Gakpo, 23, has been a transfer target of United’s since the summer.
    And following the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo, the club have accelerated plans to sign a new forward – setting their sights on Gakpo.
    The striker starred for Louis van Gaal’s Holland at the World Cup, scoring three goals, while also enjoying a strong season at club level.
    And this has prompted reports of a January move for him – tipped to see a fee in the region of £50million.

    PSV boss and Man Utd legend Van Nisterlrooy revealed he is determined to try and keep Gakpo until at least the summer, but admitted it would be difficult.
    He said: “If I have the choice, I prefer the summer, but it can also be now, you know there comes a time when you can’t say no.
    “It is wonderful how he has showcased himself.
    “I enjoyed watching him (at the World Cup), he deserves this because of how he has behaved, how he has continued to work and perform.

    “He’s not distracted, he’s focused on games he has to play and focused on his next games. For a young guy like him, it’s really special to see that attitude.”
    Gakpo himself has admitted he would consider an offer from United following the failed summer move.

    Correio da Manha report Sergio Conceicao’s team do not have plans to sell in January, with the player having recently signed a new contract.
    Costa put pen to paper in November, keeping him at Porto until 2027.
