Rio Ferdinand urges Harry Maguire to LEAVE Man Utd after defender benched again for Wolves game

Maguire, 29, was in exceptional form for England at the World Cup, helping his side reach the quarters before being knocked out by France.
However, the centre-back’s performances were not enough to win over Erik ten Hag, who dropped his skipper from United’s XI earlier this season.
And Maguire was kept on the bench in Tuesday’s 3-0 win over Nottingham Forest, with left-back Luke Shaw preferred next to Raphael Varane.
Maguire was once again made to watch United from the sideline as they earned a hard-fought win over Wolves at Molineux.

And former United star Ferdinand, who also played at centre-back, has urged Maguire to find himself a new club instead of wasting his prime years on the bench.
Ferdinand told BT Sport: “It raised eyebrows when you saw Lindelof and Maguire on the bench.
“It shows what Ten Hag thinks of those two guys.
“If I’m Harry Maguire, I’m looking for a new club right now. He’s faultless for England, but at United it hasn’t worked out for him.

“This new manager is showing him he’s not going to be one of the top two centre-backs.
“I’d be telling my agent to go and find me a new club where I can play regularly and enjoy my football.”
Maguire joined United from Leicester in 2019 for £70million, going on to play 154 times.
But despite being a starter under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick, Maguire has struggled for minutes with Ten Hag at the helm.
Varane and Lisandro Martinez are both ahead of Maguire in the pecking order, with Shaw now seemingly preferred too.
And with United linked with Napoli’s Kim Min-jae, Maguire could soon find opportunities even harder to come by. More

Arsenal ready to lock horns with Chelsea in transfer battle for Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic

ARSENAL are ready to battle Chelsea to sign striker Dusan Vlahovic next month. The 22-year-old forward only joined Juventus from Fiorentina back in January after snubbing the chance to move to the Premier League.

Mikel Arteta’s side were desperate to bring the Serbian international to the Emirates – but he rejected them in favour of Turin.
Vlahovic has scored a respectable 13 goals in 25 appearances for Juventus in Serie A since his arrival but their early Champions League exit has left them needing to raise funds.
And the 6ft 3in powerhouse is also frustrated with boss Massimiliano Allegri’s tactics.
That has led Italian publication Corriere dello Sport claiming that the star’s agent Darko Ristic is searching to secure his client a move away.
    READ MORE TRANSFER NEWS
Vlahovic is said to have “discontented” from Juventus and already has “strong interest” from a host of top teams.
Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich are both allegedly keen on the striker.
And we reported earlier this week how Manchester United were plotting a swoop to replace Cristiano Ronaldo, which is backed up by this report.
However, it also adds that Arsenal and Chelsea are ready to make a move “immediately” to try and sign him once the transfer window opens tomorrow.

Both teams are looking for attacking reinforcements but this fresh update does state that Juventus want to keep hold of Vlahovic until the summer.
But, if an offer “exceeding £80m” does arrive over the coming month then it will be “listened to carefully” by the Bianconeri.
Premier League leaders Arsenal want to bring in a new forward after Gabriel Jesus was sidelined for around three months after suffering injury with Brazil at the World Cup.
Meanwhile, Chelsea’s attackers are struggling for goals with Raheem Sterling and Kai Havertz their current joint-top scorers with five apiece. More

Ronaldo said in 2015 he would finish his career playing at the top level
Ronaldo, 37, completed a shock move to Saudi Arabian giants Al-Nassr yesterday, one month after having his Manchester United contract terminated.
The Portugal icon will become the highest-paid sportsperson ever with incredible wages worth £173million a year.
But supporters have been left than impressed by Ronnie’s Middle Eastern switch.
It was widely reported that he was holding out for offers from Champions League clubs, with Chelsea and Bayern Munich linked.

However, after being snubbed by Europe’s elite, Ronaldo will now see out his career in Saudi Arabia.
And fans could not resist poking fun at the veteran after a clip emerged from several years ago.
Speaking on Jonathan Ross’ chat show in 2015, then-Real Madrid ace Ronaldo defiantly said: “In my mind, I want to finish in the top level. I want to finish with dignity. At a good club.
‘It doesn’t meant that going to USA, Qatar or Dubai is not good, but I don’t see myself [doing that].”

    Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr contract broken down
But after his move to Al-Nassr, fans reckon Ronnie’s old comments “aged like milk.”
One supporter said: “My goat let money get in the way of dignity, I’m finished.”
Another observed: “His own mouth really put him in this laughable situation.”
One joked: “Finish at the top level? More like finished at the top level.”
Another added: “What changed, so he lost his dignity then?”
Ronaldo’s latest fortunes are in stark contrast with those of rival Lionel Messi, who led Argentina to World Cup glory in Qatar.
And all eyes will be on Ronnie when he likely makes his Al-Nassr debut against league leaders Al-Shabab on January 14. More

The 21-year-old has been heavily linked with a record-breaking £105million move to Stamford Bridge in January.
Fernandez was named in the starting XI for Benfica last night as they crashed to a 3-0 defeat at Braga.
The midfielder – who won the World Cup just 12 days earlier – was substituted off in the closing minutes.
And his boss confessed that may be his final appearance for the Portuguese club because a deal may well happen early in the transfer window, which opens tomorrow.

Roger Schmidt said: “I don’t know if that was the last match of Enzo.
“I think Enzo is a great player.
“Since he arrived at Benfica, he’s played fantastic football.
“Also, as a person, he’s completely identified with the club.

“Like I said before the match, sometimes things in football happen and then players have to make decisions.
“We will see what happens in the next weeks.”
Chelsea are willing to pay the £105m release clause in Fernandez’s Benfica contract.
The West London club are desperate to get a deal done and beat off interest from the likes of Liverpool and Manchester United for the World Cup Young Player of the Tournament.
And meeting the release clause would see Chelsea not only break their own transfer record – the £97.5m they spent on Romelu Lukaku last year – but also the British record, currently Jack Grealish’s £100m.
However, should Chelsea miss out on the holding midfielder – a possible replacement for N’Golo Kante – they already have an alternative option lined up.
Fernandez’s Argentina team-mate Alexis Mac Allister also excelled in Qatar and may be a different target.
Mac Allister worked with Graham Potter at Brighton and would certainly be significantly cheaper than Fernandez. More

The midfielder has attracted interest from the likes of Wolves, Benfica and the Magpies.
But according to the Daily Mail, City have started negotiations over a £6.5million transfer.
And should he complete an Etihad switch, Perrone would follow in the footsteps of compatriot Julian Alvarez by moving directly from Argentina to the Premier League champions.
Perrone only made his senior debut in March but made 33 appearances in the 2022 season across all competitions, grabbing three goals.

His contract at his boyhood club expires at the end of 2023 – with European sides keen to swoop to secure the budget deal.
Perrone is expected to stay with his current side until the end of the Under-20 South American Championship which runs from January 19 to February 12.
Manager Javier Mascherano looks set to include the Velez Sarsfield youngster in his squad despite just one U20 cap to his name.
However, Perrone did make seven appearances for the U16s in 2019.

Should he feature at the tournament in Colombia, the star is unlikely to want to secure a transfer to Europe in the January transfer window.
That means a deal may well be agreed but he may not link up with his new team-mates until pre-season in the summer, similar to the Alvarez deal this year.
City confirmed the £17m transfer from River Plate in January but loaned the striker back to the Argentine side for the first half of 2022.
The Etihad giants are also desperate to add Jude Bellingham to the squad next year while Rafael Leao is also a priority target. More

However, the £106million release clause Benfica currently have written into his contract makes him a difficult acquisition during the mid-season window.
The Portuguese outfit, who are still in the Champions League, are also determined to keep hold of Fernandez until the end of the campaign.
And if Chelsea feel he is unobtainable, The Times understand they will then turn their attention towards his Argentina team-mate Mac Allister instead.
The Seagulls midfielder, 24, played in each of his country’s matches in Qatar and was an important part of their triumph.

He only penned a new deal with Brighton in October to keep him at the club until 2025 – with the option of an additional year.
Yet despite his lengthy contract, Mac Allister is expected to be a much more affordable option than Fernandez – with Arsenal, Tottenham and Juventus also interested in him.
And the attraction of working with ex-manager Graham Potter could tempt Mac Allister to Stamford Bridge.
The South American praised the English coach while the pair were both still on the south coast.

When asked about Potter during their time together at Brighton, Mac Allister said: “Tactically he is amazing and the coaching staff are really good to help us in every aspect.
“He is really important for us. I am really pleased I am working with him.
“He will be an amazing coach and hopefully he will stay here for his life but at the same time we know that may be difficult.”
Along with Potter, Chelsea took five of his backroom staff with him to west London.
They also subsequently snatched left-back Marc Cucurella and Paul Winstanley – who will head up their recruitment team.
The Blues are keen to add to their squad in the January window.
They have already acquired Molde striker David Datro Fofana and are closing in on Monaco centre-back Benoit Badiashile.
Potter’s men sit eighth in the Premier League table, six points adrift of the Champions League places.
