Liverpool are also believed to be prominent in the race to sign Bellingham, as well as Manchester City.
But Los Blancos have now cooled their interest in the Borussia Dortmund midfielder, according to AS.
The report claims that the stop in interest is because of the delay to Dortmund’s meeting to establish what Bellingham’s future would be.
The 19-year-old has a contract at the Signal Iduna Park running until 2025 and the Bundesliga side value him at over £100million.

It has been suggested that Madrid would be willing to wait until the summer of 2024 to sign him when he could cost less money, as he would only have a year left on his contract.
However, it looks increasingly unlikely that the England man will still be in Germany by then.
And Bellingham’s Premier League suitors will try to wrap up a deal to sign him this summer.
Dortmund director Sebastian Kehl, however, insists that the former Birmingham prospect is “comfortable” at the club.

“But we still haven’t had any new talks or received any offers for him.
“He still has two more years on his contract and is a very important piece of this team.
“We need Jude to achieve the objectives this season and we are glad that he is so focused on football and that there is no room for other matters in his head at the moment.”
This season, Bellingham has scored ten goals in 30 appearances in all competitions. More

Barcelona slapped with summer transfer ban with LaLiga refusing to let them register players over FFP breaches

BARCELONA have been placed under a transfer ban this summer because of their inability to rein in costs.La Liga chief executive Javier Tebas revealed that Barca’s “questionable behaviour” had put the Catalan giants on Spanish football’s naughty step.

Barca have spent wildly in recent years and tried to balance the book by effectively mortgaging future TV and other incomes by selling off a stake in the club.
Now the Nou Camp side is embroiled in another row after it emerged they had allegedly been paying off a senior member of Spanish football’s refereeing hierarchy over multiple seasons.
And speaking at the FT Business of Football summit in London, Tebas confirmed: “As of today, Barcelona doesn’t have any room in its budget to spend in the upcoming transfer window.
“Barcelona has been involved in questionable behaviour which has had an impact on LaLiga – and we are acting accordingly.”
    READ MORE IN FOOTBALL
Tebas added: “We have ruled that they can no longer sign more players.
“They sold off €700m in TV rights and tried to find different ways to solve the situation.

“But they won’t be able to do that next season.
“We have strict economic controls. At the end of each window, we tell all the clubs in La Liga what they can spend.

“In the case of Barcelona, they have to drop from spending on wages and transfers from €650m to €450m – so it’s a budget of minus €200m.
“They have to reduce their investment in players and we have encouraged them to sell players because for every amount they raise in sales they can spend 40 per cent of that.”
As for the refereeing corruption scandal, Tebas added: “It doesn’t matter that it’s Barcelona – it’s about the reputation of LaLiga as a competition.
“This is a very serious issue. The statute of limitations has run out but we are acting on the criminality side of things.
“Barcelona has a lot to explain about these payments.” More

However, this move failed, and fast forward eight months the La Liga leaders are once again set to try and land the 28-year-old.
According to The Telegraph, Silva’s future at the club is “uncertain.”

Silva has once again enjoyed a strong season at the Etihad, scoring three goals and adding five assists in 23 Premier League games.

But with the Cityzens falling behind in the title race to Arsenal, Pep Guardiola has reshuffled his tactical layout.
This has seen Silva deployed like an auxiliary left-back, filling in and helping City in buildup from their defensive third.
Despite the change in position, Silva has continued to excel, ranking well in a number of metrics.
These include ranking ninth in the division for progressive carries, 13th in goal-creating actions and 17th for tackles in the middle third.

Silva would likely fit Xavi’s system at Barcelona well, explaining their long-term interest.
However, they will need to pay up the reported £71m asking price (€80m).
Should the Blaugrana fail in their attempts to land Silva, Sport’s report suggests Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are both interested.
Meanwhile, City could replace Silva with Chelsea star Mateo Kovacic. More

Man Utd join Arsenal and Chelsea in Romeo Lavia transfer battle just eight-months after Southampton star left City

MANCHESTER UNITED have joined Arsenal and Chelsea in the race to sign Romeo Lavia, reports suggest. Lavia, 19, has enjoyed a breakout season with Southampton.

In fact, no player in the Premier League won more free-kicks than Lavia in February.
And now the midfielder, who only joined from Manchester City last summer, is in line for a move up the table.
According to the Daily Mail, Man Utd are the latest club to keep tabs on Lavia.
The Belgian is already in the sights of London rivals Chelsea and Arsenal, with the Blues previously enquiring about his services.

However, in United’s case, he does not represent their first-choice option.
Instead, Erik ten Hag wants to pursue a deal for Frenkie de Jong or Jude Bellingham, who both fit his desired tactical system.
There is also a long-standing admiration for Declan Rice at Old Trafford, though Arsenal are leading the race to sign the West Ham star.
Southampton have missed Lavia’s presence whenever he has not featured this season, winning just one of nine Premier League games he was absent.

This has not boded well for the Saints’ survival chances, with their poor form seeing them rooted to the bottom of the table.
They brought Lavia in for just £14million, and while City have a £40m buyback option in the deal, relegation would weaken Southmapton’s stance on a sale.
Man City star Kevin De Bruyne described Lavia as having the potential to be a “top player” after seeing him in training.
He said last year: “He (Lavia) is very good. He’s been training with us since the end of last year. If he continues his development, I think he’ll be a top player.” More
