Arsenal in running for Weston McKennie transfer with Juventus looking to cash in for £26m-rated midfielder

However, following Mikel Arteta’s admittance that Arsenal “need more cover in midfield”, they have now thrown their hat in the ring to hijack the deal.
According to Corriere dello Sport in Italy, Leeds have made first contact to sign McKennie in a deal worth up to £26million.

Arsenal coming into the picture has changed the scene however, and McKennie would be far more open to moving to the Emirates than Elland Road.
The report suggests if the Gunners convert their interest into a “concrete lunge” then a deal will be a formality.

A separate report from Calciomercato indicates McKennie’s agent is already in London to hear more about the offer from Leeds.
Leeds have a strong American contingent at the heart of the club, including midfielder Tyler Adams – who partnered McKennie in midfield at the World Cup – and manager Jesse Marsch.
But the pull of impending Champions League football which Arsenal seem all but certain to be able to offer next season could be too strong of a pulling factor for him.
Juventus are happy to let the 24-year-old go despite recently being slapped with a 15-point penalty after they were found to have inflated transfer fees for players as part of a tax scam.

Tottenham close in on Pedro Porro transfer as Sporting Lisbon ‘ask Brighton about Tariq Lamptey loan as replacement’

Porro, 23, is their main target and they are growing increasingly confident of completing a £40million deal.
An offer of £32.5m has already been rejected this month, with Portuguese side Sporting remaining stubborn over the player’s £40m release clause.
But SunSport understands that following talks between both clubs over the past two days, an agreement is close to being reached to meet that figure this window.
Now that transfer looks closer to being completed after The Athletic claimed that Sporting have “approached Brighton about signing Lamptey” on loan.
    READ MORE IN FOOTBALL
The former Chelsea ace, 22, moved to the Seagulls in January 2020 and is under contract until 2025.
Ex-England youth international Lamptey, who has now switched allegiance and played for Ghana at the World Cup, has only made a combined 16 appearances in the Premier League.
And he has only started one top-flight match this term.
Meanwhile Spanish international Porro, who was once on the books at Manchester City, has made almost 100 appearances in all competitions since joining Sporting on loan in 2020.

Should the deal go through, City would benefit with a 30 per cent sell-on clause, having left Manchester permanently in May 2022 for £7.2m.
The signing would see the north London club’s spending over the course of this season surpass £200m, having spent £170m on seven players in the summer.
Despite winning just two of their last six Premier League outings, Spurs are still competing in the FA Cup and Champions League – as well as remaining three points off the top four. More

Everton rejected transfers for Bruno Guimaraes and Eder Militao before pair went on to shine for Newcastle and Madrid

EVERTON allegedly snubbed the chance to sign Bruno Guimaraes and Eder Militao before the pair went on to shine for Newcastle and Real Madrid. The Toffees are in disarray and deep in a relegation dogfight as they search for a new manager to replace the axed Frank Lampard.

The Toffees also allegedly snubbed the chance to sign Bruno GuimaraesCredit: Getty
It comes amid years of poor recruitment, with talkSPORT host Simon Jordan claiming this week that agent Kia Joorabchian had too much influence at Goodison Park.
He was involved in a deal that brought his client Carlo Ancelotti to the club as manager in 2019 and his questions have been raised about his relationship with majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri.
Jordan accused him of pulling the strings at Everton – which led to the super-agent calling into the White and Jordan show to hit back at those claims.
And during the telephone call, Joorabchian revealed that he had been largely ignored by the Blues’ hierarchy over recent years when it came to transfers as he listed some of the big names they snubbed.

Joorabchian said: “Of course, as we do, we offered him many, many players, and they turned them all down.
“All the signings of the summer – James Tarkowski, Conor Coady, Neal Maupay, Dwight McNeil, the list goes on, all the loans and signings they [Everton] did – were done purely by them and the board. We didn’t have any involvement whatsoever.
“We speak to all the owners, I speak to quite a few club owners, but the point is, what is our job? Our job is to present what we have as a client list and say, ‘This is what we have’.
“And Everton haven’t taken any of our advice. So we can’t be that influential.”

He added: “In the past, we have offered them Bruno Guimaraes at £16million when he was leaving Athletico Paranaense. They didn’t like him and they went for Jean-Philippe Gbamin instead and Guimaraes went to Lyon.
“Diego Carlos when he was leaving Nantes, we offered him [to Everton] at £11m before he went to Sevilla, and now he’s at Aston Villa.
“We offered them Eder Militao when he was leaving [first club Sao Paulo in Brazil, before he joined Porto – now he’s staring at Real Madrid].” More

Under current manager Roberto De Zerbi – who is desperate to keep the ace – Caicedo’s development has continued at a rapid pace, with Brighton continuing to march up the table.
We reported this week how Arsenal, who have already snatched one player from the Seagulls this month, had joined the scramble for his signature.
Chelsea were reported to have had a £55million offer rejected last week as Brighton hold out for as much at £100m.
And the midfielder has also hired a new agent as speculation mounts over his future.

Now transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has offered a fresh update on the situation.
He tweeted: “Three clubs are exploring Caicedo deal after new agents’ statement: Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool are informed on the situation, as revealed on Monday.
“Brighton, not intentioned to sell unless they receive really huge proposal.”

The Seagulls have become serial recruiters of top talent which is then flipped for a huge profit margin, as evidenced by sales such as Marc Cucurella, Ben White and most recently Trossard.
Trossard arrived at the Amex Stadium in 2019 for just £18m, while the respective fees they got for Cucurella and White saw Brighton receive more money than what it cost them to build their stadium.
Caicedo is set to be the next name on that list of profitable acquisitions by the club after he cost them just £5m Independiente del Valle two years ago.
And his price tag may swell amid Liverpool’s interest.
The Reds have endured a miserable campaign so far and Jurgen Klopp is believed to be looking to bolster his ageing midfield ahead of the next campaign. More
