Sabitzer has been on the Red Devils radar for some time as what they describe as a ‘high quality’ midfielder.
But the move for him has been accelerated by the injury to Christian Eriksen which will sideline the Dane until at least the end of April.
Sabitzer is reportedly keen to work with Ten Hag and will travel to Manchester while awaiting an agreement between United and Bayern.
It is believed the midfielder will join United on loan for the rest of the season.

Sabitzer, 28, has struggled to establish himself at the Bundesliga champions since signing from RB Leipzig in 2021.
He has made just seven league starts this season, the last of which came against Borussia Dortmund in October.
But Eriksen is not expected back until late April at the earliest so Sabitzer could come straight into the team.
Erik ten Hag is said to be a fan of the Austrian and United considered signing him last summer.

But his switch to the Toon is set to come back to bite Everton.
Fans on Wednesday turning their official club calendars over to February will be met with a picture of Gordon grinning back at them.
The Toffees academy graduate was included on the official calendar for next month, which was released before he handed in a transfer request last week.
So unlucky fans will be immediately reminded of the winger, despite him no longer playing for the club.

Everton confirmed Gordon, who joined the club aged 11, had signed for Newcastle in a blunt 64-word statement.
After leaving the club, Gordon revealed he “didn’t mean to offend or disrespect” anybody at Goodison, and that it had been a “tough” period for him.
He told NUFC TV: “It was extremely difficult. It was a tough time. It’s been a really tough week for me. I’ve always been Everton.
“It has been difficult but this is an opportunity that I couldn’t miss out on.

“I didn’t mean to offend or disrespect anyone at Everton.
“I hope they know that and can reinvest the money now. I never imagined or wanted to go like that.
“As I said, I couldn’t miss out on this opportunity and they got a lot of money for me. I just hope they can reinvest in the squad.”
Gordon made his Everton debut in the Europa League aged just 16 in December 2017.
He played 78 times for the club, scoring seven goals. More

PSG ‘try to open talks with Real Madrid to sign three-time Champions League winner’ but face Premier League competition

PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN are trying to open talks to sign Marco Asensio, according to reports. The French giants want to bolster their squad before the transfer window closes tonight.

Asensio, 27, is out of contract at the Bernabeu at the end of the season, meaning he will become a free agent in the summer unless a new contract is signed.
But according to Spanish outlet Relevo, PSG are willing to stump up the cash to get a deal over the line for the three-time Champions League winner this month.
They want to steal a march on clubs in the Premier League – including Arsenal and Manchester United – Serie A and even arch-rivals Barcelona with a last-ditch swoop.
However, Real Madrid are refusing to even enter negotiations with PSG and have no intention of selling the attacker they signed from Mallorca in 2014.

Los Blancos instead want to renew Asensio’s contract with Carlo Ancelotti insisting the 35-cap Spanish playmaker is a key member of his squad.
Asensio has made 24 Real Madrid appearances this season – but just six of those have come as a starter.
Real have a crunch few weeks coming up with the Club World Cup, Liverpool in the Champions League, a Madrid derby against Atletico and Barcelona in the Copa del Rey semi-final.
But with the player not getting the game time he wants, he’s reportedly asked agent Jorge Mendes to address the issue with the Real Madrid board – who will not budge on their stance.

Contract negotiations for Asensio did start over the World Cup break but are yet to yield an agreement.
Now talks are said to have stalled, leaving Asensio uncertain over his future.
PSG are also set to land Hakim Ziyech on loan from Chelsea.
The Morocco World Cup star has dropped even further down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge following the arrivals of Mykhailo Mudryk, Noni Madueke and Joao Felix. More

Should Sabitzer, 28, move to Old Trafford he won’t be coming alone – as he will be joined by his stunning partner Katja Kuhne.
Katja is nine years older than the midfielder and rose to fame starring in the German version of reality TV show The Bachelor.
They have been together since 2017 and got engaged three years later.
That was when the Austria international got down on one knee and proposed in the romantic setting of the Maldives.

Katja has also given birth to their daughter Mary Lou, who has changed their lives.

“I’m just happy to have such a beautiful family life. And I’ve learnt to deal with moments of stress better.
“If you want to convey calm to your child, it’ll only work if you exude calm yourself, not if you’re loud.”

Barcelona look to raid Bayern Munich in stunning double transfer swoop after German giants’ shock move for Joao Cancelo

BARCELONA are lining up a double transfer raid on Bayern Munich, according to reports. The Spanish giants have identified two major stars as key targets.
Joao Cancelo’s arrival to Bayern could prompt the exit for two starsCredit: Getty
However, they will wait until the summer before launching their bids.
According to Fabrizio Romano, there are no talks ongoing between the two European heavyweights on deadline day – six months on from their bitter row regarding Robert Lewandowski’s move.
Instead, Barca plan to try and strike at the end of the season for duo Benjamin Pavard and Joshua Kimmich.
It is reported that French defender Pavard is open to the switch to the Nou Camp.
    READ MORE IN FOOTBALL
Versatile ace Kimmich, meanwhile, has emerged as a top priority for the 2023-24 season.
The former RB Leipzig player has shone throughout this seven-and-a-half years with Bayern, winning the Bundesliga in each season.
Pavard, 26, arrived from Stuttgart in 2019 – a year after winning the World Cup – and the pair combined in the Champions League-winning campaign in 2020.
However, the double deal could be scuppered by Barcelona’s torrid financial situation.

Directo Gol report it would be “economically impossible” to bring Kimmich in.
The Germany star, 27, earns a reported £330,000 per week at the Allianz Stadium and is tied down until 2025.
Pavard, though, will enter the final 12 months of his £84,000-a-week contract this summer and is therefore far more affordable.
And Bayern may be more open to selling him after signing Joao Cancelo from Manchester City, initially on loan with an option to buy.
    BARCA MONEY MESS
Barcelona have already been told they must reduce their annual spending on wages next season by £158million to comply with financial regulations.
The LaLiga leaders sold off various rights and deals last summer – including shares in a TV company and the stadium name – to help operate amid their £1billion debt.
Barcelona signed Franck Kessie, Andreas Christensen, Raphinha, Jules Kounde, Marcos Alonso, Hector Bellerin and Lewandowski last summer.
The £42.5million deal for the Polish striker left the Bundesliga champions fuming – and could scupper Barca’s chances of signing Pavard or Kimmich.
Bayern – who were already angry at Barca regarding the failed European Super League breakaway – could not believe the Spanish side were allowed to seal the transfer.

Boss Julian Nagelsmann raged: “Barcelona, the only club that has no money but then buys every player they want.
“I do not know how [they do it]. It‘s kind of weird, kind of crazy.”

Arsenal and Tottenham tipped to make last-gasp Allan Saint-Maximin transfer after Newcastle sign Anthony Gordon

ARSENAL and Tottenham should make a late bid for Newcastle forward Allan Saint-Maximin, according to former Premier League striker Louis Saha.Saint-Maximin, 25, has struggled for game time at St James’ Park so far this season.
Allan Saint-Maximin has not started a Premier League game since AugustCredit: Getty
He was plagued by injuries at the beginning of the campaign, suffering from hamstring and other muscular problems.
But he has been fit since the end of October, with Eddie Howe still opting not to start him in a single Premier League game.
He has not been named in a Newcastle XI in the league since the end of August.
That is despite Saint-Maximin acting as the shining light for the Magpies last season.
    READ MORE ON ARSENAL
The team appear to be thriving without him and even added to their forward line in the January transfer window through the acquisition of £45million man Anthony Gordon.
And Gordon’s arrival is one Saha believes Arsenal and Tottenham should capitalise on by trying to sign the out-of-favour Saint-Maximin.
Speaking to GGRecon, the former Man Utd, Spurs, Everton and Fulham forward said: “All young players should see how quick football goes.
“It’s unbelievable because last season Saint-Maximin was unreal and nobody would have been thinking about the prospect of Newcastle selling him.

“He’s been unlucky this season with injuries, but he’s a top player and he could potentially find a move to one of the ‘big six’ clubs.
“I could see Arsenal or Tottenham having a player of Saint-Maximin’s quality and style.”
The Gunners have already added to their forward line this month through the signing of Leandro Trossard from Brighton for £27m.

Spurs have also done business in attack, stealing Arnaut Danjuma from under Everton’s noses in a loan deal until the end of the season.
But Saint-Maximin could still add something to both squads, with Arsenal going for the title and Tottenham looking to clinch a top-four spot.
The Newcastle forward has contributed 13 goals and 19 assists in 109 games since arriving from Nice for £16.5m in 2019.
