Bellingham, 19, is the hottest property in football right now after becoming a key man for club and country.
The midfielder has clocked up 10 goals for Borussia Dortmund this season and also set the World Cup alight with some huge performances under Gareth Southgate.
It now looks certain Bellingham will depart Germany for a new challenge after three years in the Bundesliga.
And the Athletic claims United have emerged as a potential destination for the box-to-box star.

The Red Devils are enjoying a fine resurgence with Erik ten Hag at the helm.
And they could soon have plenty of cash to spend ahead of a potential takeover by mega-rich Qataris.
That has opened the door to a possible £132million move for Bellingham, which would make the teenager the most expensive signing in Premier League history.
However, United currently lag behind several other sides.

It’s reckoned Liverpool are favourites despite having a shocking season under Jurgen Klopp.
Bellingham is a huge admirer of the German and has not been put off by their dip in form.

Sources close to negotiations claim it’s “Liverpool’s deal to lose”, but it remains to be seen whether the Reds can stump up the cash as owners FSG look for new investors.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid are keen after holding talks with Bellingham’s representatives.
They would love to create a new midfield three also involving Eduardo Camavinga and Aurelien Tchouameni.
But Real do not currently have the funds to match bids from the Premier League.
They already acknowledge Bellingham is likely to return to England.
And they are also prioritising a new forward to replace ageing hitman Karim Benzema.
Finally, Manchester City remain interested despite their Financial Fair Play battle.

Ilkay Gundogan could be off when his contract expires, and Bellingham is also close pals with striker Erling Haaland.
But the final say will come down to Pep Guardiola, with City always ready to back their man if he deems a player absolutely necessary. More

And he further strengthened his blossoming reputation and continued his scoring streak for the Italian side against Eintracht Frankfurt in the Champions League last night.
Osimhen opened the scoring in the first half as Napoli beat 10-man Frankfurt 2-0 in the first leg of their Round of 16 tie.
That took his tally to 20 goals for the campaign and will surely have seen interest in him soaring.
Recent reports have emerged suggesting Man Utd are preparing to launch a staggering £107million transfer bid.

Such a deal would equal the current British transfer record set by Chelsea’s acquisition of Enzo Fernandez in January – with the Blues also keen to land the hitman.
Liverpool are another club believed to be looking at launching a mega move for him.
But Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis has so far remained defiant over the possibility of a sale and wants to keep him.
But now, when quizzed about the futures of both Osimhen and fellow star Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, he has admitted that the pair could leave this summer in a huge boost to the circling Premier League clubs – but reiterated that he hopes to hold on to them both.

De Laurentiis said: “Kvara and Osimhen? It won’t be difficult to keep our best players, we’re good with contracts — but never say never in case of crazy proposals. I think they will stay for a long time.”
Osimhen left Lille for Napoli for £62.4m in 2020 and has scored 42 goals in 70 Serie A appearances since.
He remains under contract until 2025 but no talks over an extension are believed to have yet taken place.
The Red Devils lost Cristiano Ronaldo in December but brought in Wout Weghorst on-loan to bolster their forward line.
Erik ten Hag is looking to bring in a new striker this summer for the long-term and has identified Napoli’s Osimhen as his No1 target. More

While the likes of Manchester United are circling around hotshot striker Victor Osimhen, Georgian winger Kvaratskhelia has been just as important this season.
Napoli plucked the 22-year-old from obscurity last summer in a bargain £8.8million deal from Dinamo Batumi in his homeland.
He has since earned the nicknamed ‘Kvaradona’ – after Napoli most iconic former star Diego Maradona – after scoring 10 goals and provided 9 assists in 19 Serie A matches this season.
This form has put some of the Premier League’s biggest teams on alert but Napoli director Cristiano Giuntoli has dealt interested parties a huge blow.

He continued: “In this moment, Kvaratskhelia is not for sale. The market hasn’t even started.”
The winger has been linked with some of Europe’s biggest sides including Real Madrid, Manchester City and PSG.
Cash rich Newcastle have also registered their interest in recent weeks as the race really starts to hot up.

Man Utd signed WRONG Ajax winger says club legend as current star is ‘much better and smarter’ than ‘confused’ Antony

But Van Basten reckons the Red Devils missed a better player was lurking in the Ajax ranks.
That man is Mohammed Kudus, who the Dutch legend says is “much better” that Antony.
Things haven’t particularly worked out for the Brazil international so far, with just three goals and no assists in the Premier League not reflecting the huge fee United paid.
And Van Basten adds that he looks “confused” at Old Trafford.

Speaking to Ziggo Sport, he said: “I find Mohammed Kudus a much better football player than Antony.
“Antony has his skills, but he is confused with the things he is trying to do!”
“Kudus has much better technique and he knows what he is doing. Antony may be faster, but Kudus is smarter and more technical.”
Van Basten continued: “He is much more of a footballer, you can place him anywhere on the pitch, an all-rounder for the team.”

He was named goalkeeper of the tournament but caused a furore moments after collecting the Glove Glove award by putting the trophy to his crotch and thrusting it forward.
That led to the recently-appointed Villa boss Unai Emery warning the stopper that he must learn to control his emotions.
But Emery slammed Martinez again this weekend for his part in Gabriel Martinelli’s goal for Arsenal.
The goalie decided to go up for a corner in the final moments with his side trailing 3-2.

And the Gunners were able to counter quickly and score a fourth goal as the Brazilian tapped into an unguarded net.

Although it is said they “are set to demand a high price”.
Martinez arrived at the club from Arsenal three years ago in a £16million move and last year agreed a new £100,000-a-week, five-year contract to become their top earner.

He has previously declared his ambition to win the Champions League, something he is unlikely to be able to do with Villa at present, but is believed to be happy at the club.
Villa are under no pressure to sell either, although they “are not closed to the idea of doing so” with Emery reported to be wanting more of a “sweeper-keeper” for his side.
A host of clubs could all be in the market for a new goalkeeper come the end of the season, including both Manchester United and Tottenham.
Chelsea have also been urged to try and sign Martinez by Joe Cole after Edouard Mendy rejected a new contract.
Villa reportedly know that the South American is one of the players in their squad that is “guaranteed to generate a healthy profit” and it could see Martinez become one of the most-expensive goalkeepers on the planet.

But their scoring problems have still persisted with their form continuing to take a nosedive.
Boss Potter turned to Datro Fofana, the 20-year-old who arrived from Molde for £10.5m last month, to lead his team’s attack against bottom of the table Southampton on Saturday.
But Chelsea once again drew a blank as the Saints shocked Stamford Bridge and claimed a 1-0 win.
Despite all of the new signings, the failure to capture a genuine top striker has led to many criticising the club and their transfer policy.

Now BBC pundit Garth Crooks, a former forward for Tottenham, Manchester United and England, has joined in.
He wrote: “So Chelsea have spent over £600m in the transfer window and had to turn to a 20-year-old unknown in David Datro Fofana to provide them with the goals they desperately need? Is this a joke?”

Crooks added: “I said last week I wasn’t sure if Todd Boehly knew what he was doing. I’m now asking the same question of Graham Potter.
“The apprehension in the air was penetrating. We all know that it can’t go on like this.”
