Inside Qatar’s plans to put Man Utd at top of Europe’s biggest multi-club network sharing feeder club with PSG

MANCHESTER UNITED could reportedly become a part of the biggest multi-club network in the world if they are taken over by Qatari investors. The Red Devils’ owners the Glazers are considering several bids as they weigh up the possibility of selling the Premier League giants.
Sheikh Jassim is hoping to take over at Manchester United
One of the most high-profile offers has come from a group fronted by Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad al-Thani – chairman of the Qatari Islamic Bank and son of the gulf state’s former Prime Minister.
Qatar Sports Investments already own Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain.
They also have a de facto controlling stake in Portuguese outfit Sporting Braga.
And according to the Daily Record, QSI chairman and PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi is considering taking control of Malaga – who are in danger of dropping down to the third tier of Spanish football.

The club have been owned by a subsidiary member of Qatar’s ruling family, Abdullah Al-Thani, since 2010, but have entered judicial administration.
However, QSI are looking into bringing the team into their sports investment infrastructure in a bid to return them to LaLiga.

This is part of a plan to create the biggest multi-club network in the sport, with Braga acting as development outfit for Man Utd and PSG.
It would rival the City Football Group – which Manchester City are a part of alongside the likes of New York City, Melbourne City and Mumbai City FC.

Braga sit third in the Primeira Liga meaning they are in line to reach the Champions League qualifiers next season – where a run to the group-stage could see them drawn against United or PSG.
Existing Uefa rules dictate that two clubs owned by the same people cannot compete against one another in European competition.
However, Uefa president Aleksander Ceferin recently hinted at an imminent changing of those regulations.
He told The Overlap: “This multi-club ownership question is an interesting question, I think we should think about it for the future and see what to do.
“There is more and more interest for this multi-club ownership and we shouldn’t just say no for the investments.
“But we have to see what kind of rules we set in that case because rules have to be strict. We have to rethink the current rules.
“I think it has to be quick because… everything has to happen quick in football.” More

Tottenham urged to appoint Spain legend as Antonio Conte’s successor as fans would ‘love brand of football’

CHRIS SUTTON believes he knows who should succeed Antonio Conte at Tottenham because of his style of football.Conte, 53, parted ways with Spurs at the weekend after 16 months in charge.
Antonio Conte departed Tottenham on Sunday eveningCredit: Reuters
His exit came following a startling rant about his players and the club in the wake of their 3-3 draw with Southampton before the international break.
Conte’s failure to deliver Tottenham their first trophy in 15 years was exacerbated by his conservative approach to games.
A number of front-foot managers have been touted with the role in the wake of his departure including ex-Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino and Julian Nagelsmann – recently sacked by Bayern Munich.
A permanent manager is expected to be appointed in the summer as Cristian Stellini leads the club until the end of the season.

But Blackburn and Celtic legend Sutton feels former Barcelona and Spain head coach Luis Enrique would be the perfect antidote to the Conte regime.
Speaking to The Mail, he said: “I think what is really important for Spurs, this was always a criticism of Conte, the brand of football was negative, from the start of the season how many times have you seen Spurs play an exciting brand of football.
“That’s why Luis Enrique ticks that box. I think Mauricio Pochettino is a really interesting one because I suspect a lot of Spurs fans like the idea of him returning and that love story of him having a second opportunity.
“But I suspect there are Spurs fans who may feel slightly peeved at the way that he left and maybe don’t want to go back there.”

He then went on to add: “I suspect this appointment will be about brand of football more than anything and what the Spurs fans demand.
“Then if trophies don’t come Daniel Levy can have the out of saying I am giving you what you want in terms of brand of football, this is the identity we have had since the 70s/80s and want to get back to that.
“In terms of brand of football I think they would love Enrique.”
Enrique won the treble with Barcelona in 2015, leaving the club with two LaLiga titles, three Copa del Reys and the Champions League.
He was sacked by Spain at the end of last year following a semi-final exit to Italy at the Euros and last-16 loss to Morocco at the World Cup.
Nagelsmann is the early favourite with the bookies to assume the vacant Spurs role come the end of the season.
Pochettino and Enrique are other names in the frame, while the other possible contenders Marco Silva, Ange Postecoglou, Ruben Amorim and Roberto De Zerbi are all in jobs elsewhere. More

Jordan Henderson holds key to convincing Bellingham to join Liverpool as he admits whoever gets him will be ‘very lucky’

JORDAN HENDERSON is sure that whoever manages to prise Jude Bellingham away from Borussia Dortmund will feel like they have won the lottery. And he hopes Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has bought plenty of tickets.

Reds captain Henderson has spent the last three years as a midfield mentor to Bellingham every time they have met up with England.
Now he is praying their close connection will be enough to convince the teenage marvel to move to Anfield in the face of ferocious competition from every top club in Europe.
Aged just 19, Bellingham has the football world at his feet, with Real Madrid, Chelsea, both Manchester giants and Liverpool all slugging it out for his signature this summer.
With two years still to run on his Dortmund contract, he is not going to come cheap.

It is anticipated bids in excess of £100million will be needed to convince the Bundesliga leaders to cash in.
Henderson said: “Whichever club gets him will be very lucky to have him.
“If it ends up being Liverpool, that would be amazing.
“But every club you can think of is going to want him. It’s got to be the right move for him because I just want him to become the best player he can be. So he has to think about himself and make sure he makes the right decision for his career.

“He’s doing so well at Dortmund, which is a really good club playing Champions League football every season, which has really helped him.
“I’m sure he’ll sit down with his family and decide what route he wants to take, because his potential is through the roof.”
Veteran Hendo, 32, is wary of adding to the hype which is already building around Bellingham.
The teen became the third youngest player in Three Lions history when he made his senior debut in November 2020 at the age of 17 shortly after his £20m summer move from Birmingham to Dortmund.
But Henderson has no doubts about the youngster’s ability to handle the pressure and joked about checking his birth certificate to make sure he really is still only 19.
The Liverpool skipper added: “Jude is a really special player and I honestly can’t believe how mature he is at his age. He can be as good as he wants to be because he has got the right mentality, which is the most important thing.
“The way he applies himself in training and in games is something I’ve never seen before.
“The way he plays, the way he behaves off the pitch, in the gym, he is just so dedicated to football.
“Mentality-wise, we’re similar in terms of dedicating our lives to trying to improve every day.
“But he’s a much better player than I was at his age, that’s for sure.
“And I’m pretty confident he will be a special player for many years to come.
“But we still need to be careful not to apply too much pressure on him and just let him play football.
“You can see what he does for Dortmund and for England — he gets better every time he puts on an England shirt.
“Of course there are things he can improve but he’s only 19 and the platform he has got means he can go as high as he wants.”
That was a theme picked up by Bellingham himself when he was interviewed by his Anfield idol Steven Gerrard following the 2-0 win against Ukraine on Sunday.
Gerro, like Henderson, believes the youngster is a generational talent and said: “He’s a lot further forward than I was at his age. I never had that power and strength until I was 23 and he’s more confident in possession than I was in terms of what he’ll try to do on the ball.”
Yet Bellingham insisted: “There’s so much more I have to learn about the way I want to be a midfielder who can win games at both ends of the pitch and dominate in the middle.
“The best chance I have of doing that is to be in the changing room at Dortmund and with England, because I’m like a sponge taking everything in that can help me.”
It is that willingness to learn which has particularly impressed England boss Gareth Southgate.
He said: “I’m loath to put pressure on young players because they already have a lot to deal with and it’s not for me to add to that.
“The good thing about Jude and Declan Rice is they have already captained their clubs and that’s great leadership experience because it puts them in situations slightly out of their comfort zone.

“I remember one of Wayne Rooney’s first games for England against Turkey and the intelligence he showed on the pitch.
“In terms of personality and how he carries himself, only Jude is in that same bracket at that age.” More

I regret moving to the Premier League at 18 in a £35m deal – it hurts that I couldn’t show more at my hometown club

WOLVES loanee Fabio Silva admits he “maybe” would have liked to stay a little longer at Porto instead of moving to Molineux.Silva joined the West Midlands outfit in 2020 at the tender age of 18 after a club record £35million deal with the Portuguese giants.

The centre-forward has since failed to set the Premier League alight as he only managed a mere total of four goals and six assists in 62 appearances.
The Portugal Under-21 international’s struggles led to Wolves loaning him out to Anderlecht in July.
The 20-year-old’s stint in Belgium didn’t last long as he was then loaned out in January to PSV Eindhoven, where he still plays.
Now the Portuguese ace looks back at his career and admits it hurts him that he didn’t have time to do more at Porto.

Silva told Voetbal International: “If amounts of €40m (£35m) are paid, clubs sometimes cannot refuse.
“That was the case with me. But I had just turned 18. It hurts a bit that I haven’t been able to show more at Porto.
“People don’t always understand football very well. It’s not that I myself think at 18: I’m going to Wolves, play in the Premier League.
“I had no control over that. It was the decision of the club and given the transfer fee I understand.

Kane, 29, has less than 18 months remaining on his deal and United are hoping to take advantage of the England captain’s contract situation.
But as we stated previously, they are still anticipating a “nightmare” pursuit as Spurs chief Daniel Levy is renowned as a tough negotiator.
That has led to Ten Hag identifying striking alternatives, and Vlahovic is among his top picks.
Now he has received a boost as La Gazzetta dello Sport claims that Juventus are “preparing for life without” the forward.

And it also states that they have identified potential replacements for him.
Juve are believed to be plotting moves for either West Ham’s Gianluca Scamacca, who has struggled in the Premier league, and Galatasaray’s Nicolo Zaniolo.
Vlahovic, 23, joined Juventus from Fiorentina back in January 2022 after snubbing the chance to move to the Premier League with Arsenal.

However, Greenwood’s career hit the skids in January 2022 when he was arrested after a woman made allegations against him.
He was charged with attempted rape, assault and controlling and coercive behaviour.
He appeared before magistrates and was told he would face trial later this year.
But in February the Crown Prosecution Service dropped charges after several alleged witnesses refused to co-operate.

United, who had suspended him on full pay, announced they would hold an internal investigation into the circumstances around his arrest.
The Sun revealed he has spoken to manager Erik ten Hag and met with club officials — but his future at the club remains unclear.
Now The Athletic are claiming that several teams from Turkey have contacted the Red Devils regarding a transfer move for the one-capped England international.
But the club has turned down all approaches.

It is also reported in this update that the still suspended forward would “run through a brick wall to be back playing for United now”.
Greenwood’s last appearance for the club was on January 22, 2022, when they beat West Ham 1-0 at Old Trafford.
United released a short statement when the CPS dropped charges against the £70,000-a-week player, who is under contract until 2025, that read: “Manchester United notes the decision of the Crown Prosecution Service that all charges against Mason Greenwood have been dropped.
“The club will now conduct its own process before determining next steps. We will not make any further comment until that process is complete.”
Meanwhile, SunSport recently revealed plans for Greenwood to marry his pregnant partner in the summer. More
