Man Utd ace Harry Maguire has held several phone calls with David Moyes with West Ham confident of sealing £35m transfer

WEST HAM are confident Harry Maguire wants to move to West Ham this summer. However, the Hammers remain in positive talks with Manchester United over a suitable fee – as well as an agreement over the payment terms of the player’s £190k-a-week wages.

Monday night saw West Ham make a huge move in the transfer market, submitting a joint £60m bid for Maguire, 30, and Scott McTominay, 26.
The £30m offer for McTominay was rejected out of hand, with United demanding £45m, yet the Red Devils are still considering the £30m bid for Maguire, which is near their valuation of £35m.
SunSport understands that Maguire has spoken with West Ham boss David Moyes on several occasions over the phone in the past few days.
Moyes – who is still looking to make his first signing of the summer – has been selling the idea of West Ham to Maguire, who he views as a future captain of the club.
    READ MORE ON MAN UTD
Maguire is desperate for regular first team football ahead of next summer’s Euros with England, and would get that at West Ham having fallen down the pecking order at Old Trafford.
United manager Erik ten Hag recently stripped Maguire of the captaincy, and despite wanting him to be part of his squad, will allow him to leave for the right price.
A wage rise for Maguire was activated at the end of last season following United’s top four finish, seeing him earn close to £200k-a-week.
West Ham would not be expected to pay that in full, with United potentially bridging the gap due to the amount still owed to him on his contract that still has two years left, with the option of a further year.

Moyes is desperate to get Maguire over the line. The Scot is targeting British players to bolster his squad, as well as needing cover at centre back for injury-hit Kurt Zouma.
But West Ham have been slow out of the blocks this summer, with tension between Moyes and new technical director Tim Steidten evident in their recruitment process so far.
Bids for Southampton’s James Ward-Prowse, Fulham’s Joao Palhinha and Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher have been turned down, with West Ham struggling to put the £105m from Declan Rice’s move to Arsenal to good use.
However, this week could see that change. Ajax midfielder and Mexico international Edson Alvarez is expected to sign for £35m on a five-year deal after landing in London to undergo his medical today.
West Ham want another midfielder. They are unlikely to hit the valuation for McTominay, but could still go back in for Saints skipper Ward-Prowse with an offer closer to £40m after their previous attempt of £30m was rejected.
A striker is also on Moyes’ wish list after Gianluca Scamacca’s £27m departure to Atalanta – despite spending just over 12 months in East London. More

Mbappe, 24, was ordered to train with the B team on Monday after declining to extend his contract beyond summer.
Now PSG want at least £250million for the France striker, rather than allowing him to leave for free next year.
Real remain strong favourites to sign him. despite a reported offer of an incredible £11.6m a week by Saudi club Al-Hilal.
Construction workers on a crane stripped off a massive image – mainly of Mbappe – from the side of the Parc Des Princes venue.

And PSG’s response to their dispute with arguably the world’s best player was just as stinging inside the ground.
Mbappe’s shirt can no longer be seen in the club shop despite his five successful seasons with the French giants.
That appears to be a huge snub when you consider the tops of Neymar and Lionel Messi are still for sale.
PSG’s Brazil icon Neymar, 31, has been linked with Chelsea and Manchester United after indicating he too wants a summer move.

Mauricio Pochettino’s Blues are understood to still be in talks over signing the former Barcelona hero.
And if Neymar does stay put in this transfer window, Sheikh Jassim will target him for Old Trafford – providing the Qatar banker wins his takeover battle.
Meanwhile, seven-time Ballon d’Or winner Messi departed PSG for Inter Miami in June after admitting he was “not happy in France”.
The World Cup-winning Argentinian, 36, claimed his two years in Paris affected his family life, persuading him to switch to the MLS.
But it seems Messi’s kit is still a hit with PSG club chiefs and fans – unlike that of feuding Mbappe.

Arsenal ‘reach agreement with Brentford to sign David Raya with transfer to be finalised BEFORE Premier League opener’

Arsenal agreed personal terms with Raya last week but have since been locked in negotiations with Brentford over a fee.
But the deal now looks to be done with documents set to be exchanged to complete the signing imminently according to Fabrizio Romano.
Raya is expected to sign a five year contract which will run until the summer of 2028.
The Brentford man had just a year left to run on his current deal and had been subject to interest from both Bayern Munich and Tottenham.
    READ MORE ON ARSENAL
But Brentford rejected offers from both as they did not meet the £40million fee the Bees had been demanding.
Raya has had his heart set on leaving the club this summer and Brentford have already signed his replacement in the form of Mark Flekken from Bundesliga club Freiburg.
As a result, Raya has barely featured for Thomas Frank’s men during their pre-season – managing just one 45 minute appearance against Fulham as part of the Premier League’s Summer Series in America.
With Brentford’s season opener just five days away it seems as though the Bees were keen to sort a deal quickly rather than face the prospect of having Raya warm the bench for a season before losing him on a free next summer.

That’s allowed Arsenal to swoop in and sign the keeper for £30m according to reports rather than the original £40m fee being demanded.
Raya will provide competition for Arsenal no.1 Aaron Ramsdale who enjoyed a fine campaign last season.
Ramsdale produced a match-winning performance in Arsenal’s recent Community Shield triumph over Manchester City that saw him make several impressive saves from close-range.
But he will now have to deal with a more than capable goalkeeper breathing down his neck and looking for a starting berth in Mikel Arteta’s side.
Both Ramsdale and Raya have ambitions of starting for their respective countries at the European Championships next summer so competition will be fierce. More

Several clubs have shown an interest in the 20-year-old this summer, with Borussia Dortmund even tabling an offer earlier in the window.
Teams in England and France have also eyed both permanent and loan moves for Hannibal.
Although talks are ongoing about a potential loan move, the Manchester Evening News report that United have ruled out selling the youngster this summer.
Figures at the club, including Ten Hag, have been impressed with his performances during pre-season.

There are still doubts over the first-team playing time he will get this season, though, and Hannibal may still depart on loan.
Premier League newcomers Luton are amongst the clubs who could sign him on a temporary basis.

Barcelona ‘launch joint loan transfer bid for TWO Man City stars’ just days before Premier League opener

BARCELONA have launched a joint loan bid for TWO Manchester City stars just days before the Premier League is about to kick off.Spanish outlet Sport report that Barcelona are “very interested” in acquiring both Bernardo Silva and Joao Cancelo ahead of their season opener against Getafe this Sunday.

But Cancelo could be attainable for BarcelonaCredit: Getty
The Catalan club hold a long standing interest in both players.
Barca pushed hard to sign Silva last season when it looked as though the midfielder would leave the Etihad.
In Cancelo’s case, Barcelona tried to sign him in January after the full-back fell out with manager Pep Guardiola, but he ultimately joined Bayern Munich on loan.
Barcelona are set for a cash injection once Ousmane Dembele’s transfer to PSG is completed and view the Manchester City players as an ideal way to reinvest the cash.
    READ MORE ON FOOTBALL
Both Cancelo and Silva have operated in Dembele’s vacant right-wing position in the past but it is likely that Silva would play in Barca’s midfield three and Cancelo would play his preferred role of right-back.
The report says that Barcelona would include a mandatory buy clause of £60million at the end of Silva’s loan deal.
Silva’s City contract is set to expire in the summer of 2025.
Sport say that City while City are open to letting Cancelo leave the club, they are not interested in selling Silva, particularly having already lost Riyad Mahrez this summer.

City have been linked with Palace’s Michael Olise and Rennes’ Jeremy Doku as they look to replace Mahrez – but Silva has operated off the right-wing in the past and started there during Sunday’s Community shield defeat to Arsenal.
Cancelo, though, is free to leave the club and has reportedly already agreed personal terms with Barca.
City will look to bounce back from Sunday’s penalty shootout defeat against Arsenal when they kick off their Premier League campaign away at Burnley on Friday night. More

Arsenal have been long-term admirers of the Valladolid right-back, even agreeing a deal to sign him back in January.
The transfer never materialised, though, but the Gunners have revived their interest this summer.
According to Sport, Chelsea are also now in the race to sign Fresneda and are set to submit a bid.
Barcelona have already had a bid rejected for the 18-year-old, with a follow-up offer being prepared.

The Spanish giants believe a bid worth £10million plus £5million in add-ons will be enough to sign Fresneda.
Having already held talks with the club, the report adds that Barca are his preferred generation.
Borussia Dortmund have also been chasing a deal during the current window, having joined Arsenal in agreeing terms earlier in the year.
Fresneda, who previously spent four years in Real Madrid’s academy, enjoyed a breakthrough season last term.

Several clubs – including Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich and Chelsea – have expressed an interest in signing him, but Napoli’s £150m asking price has proved to be a stumbling block.
However, Al-Hilal are now willing to go all-out for him.

The deal is said to be worth around £34.5m-a-year for five years.

Chelsea close in on £18.3m signing of Brazil wonderkid as Thiago Silva gets in touch to push transfer through

CHELSEA and Monaco are locked in a tug of war over Brazilian striker sensation Deivid Washington. The Blues are keen to pay an initial £18.3million for the striker, 18, with his club Santos ready to cash in on a Chelsea offer for the second time this summer after selling Angelo Gabriel for £13m.

Washington and his family prefer a move to England, even though it is expected the striker would then be off to Strasbourg on loan for this season rather than being integrated into Maurico Pochettino’s squad.
But Monaco, who have a Brazilian sporting director in Thiago Scuro, are refusing to give up the hunt and are set to try to outbid Chelsea.
Despite that, Chelsea are in the box seat.
Washington is represented by agent Giuliano Bertolucci, who also took Angelo to Stamford Bridge – although he is already poised for a loan move to the Ligue 1 sister side.

Sources close to the Washington family confirmed they want the move to England despite concerns about his young age.
However, they will NOT kick up a fuss if Santos agree a fee with the French club.
Both Angelo and defender Thiago Silva have been in touch to “sell” Chelsea to the player.
Chelsea may have to pay an excess to land the youngster, though, as Santos own only 70 per cent of his rights with other investors having a 30 per cent share.

Prem and FA rules mean Chelsea will have to buy the full ownership for the deal to be ratified.
The Blues would be buying potential rather than proven goalscoring, although the 6ft 3in striker has also been targeted by Real Madrid, city neighbours Atletico and Borussia Dortmund.
Washington has scored just two senior goals in 16 appearances for Santos, although he led the line for Brazil in the recent Under-20 World Cup and was a consistent scorer at youth level.
His potential sale has infuriated the Santos fans, whose anger increased when he was left out of the squad for Saturday’s match with Atletico Paranaense.
Washington told his family: “I am out of this game. Orders of the President of Santos!” More
