How Man Utd could line up for huge Arsenal clash with three transfer deadline day signings including Chelsea flop

MANCHESTER UNITED face injury dilemma heading into their next match – which could force them into a late summer spree. United travel to Arsenal on Sunday but do so with key names ruled out from the starting 11.

Centre-back Raphael Varane is the latest defender to be sidelined, joining Luke Shaw.
As a result, United are linked with a move for Nice centre-half Jean-Clair Todibo, formerly of Barcelona.
If a deal cannot be struck in time, Victor Lindelof is expected to partner Lisandro Martinez with Harry Maguire out of favour.
But more pressing for manager Erik ten Hag is the injuries to left-backs Shaw and Tyrell Malacia.

So United are frantically searching for an emergency replacement.
The club have approached Chelsea over a loan move for Marc Cucurella, who only arrived in West London last season for £63million.
With two new faces lined up in defence, Ten Hag is also in the market for a new midfielder due to Mason Mount’s recent knock.
It has led the Dutchman to enquire about a move for Tottenham’s Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, who he worked with at Bayern Munich.

Going forward, United will likely keep Bruno Fernandes in the No10 role with Marcus Rashford and Antony either side of him.
Anthony Martial is in line to lead the line but summer signing Rasmus Hojlund could feature in some capacity following a back injury.
United bounced back from a 2-0 loss to Spurs by beating Nottingham Forest 3-2, coming from two behind.

According to the Daily Mail, Erik ten Hag is said to be looking to bring in a short-term replacement for Shaw’s absence and a reunion with Lyon’s Nicolas Tagliafico is on the cards.
The left-back was previously considered by the Red Devils scouting team as he used to play under Ten Hag at Ajax.
Tagliafico, 30, is playing regularly for the Ligue 1 giants and Lyon would want any loan to include the obligation to buy.
The Argentine joined the French side last year from Ajax for £3.5million and was a part of Argentina’s World Cup-winning team.

Ten Hag has praised him in the past for his character and professionalism and is a viable option as he could easily adapt to the Dutch boss’ style.
Meanwhile, the Metro confirmed Roma’s Leonardo Spinazolla as a potential target for the Red Devils.
Spinazzola has been a key part of the Italian side since 2019 – but Roma boss Jose Mourinho is unlikely to sanction his departure as the Serie A team have had a poor start to the season.
Man Utd already had four potential left-backs lined-up on their transfer list including Barcelona’s Marcos Alonso, Chelsea’s Marc Cucurella, Tottenham’s Sergio Reguillion and Brentford’s Rico Henry.

United have a restricted budget after their huge £160million summer splurge on Mason Mount, Rasmus Hojlund and Andre Onana.
Barcelona are open to letting Alonso go on a short-term loan as this would open up financial space to complete the new signing of Joao Cancelo from Manchester City.
Chelsea are considering offers for Cucuarella but are still concerned about their other left-back Ian Maatsen who is yet to sign a new contract for the Blues.
United must have a deal finalised by Friday’s 11pm deadline but remain restricted by Financial Fair Play over what they can bring in.
Therefore to complete this deal the likes of Donny van de Beek and Eric Bailly need to be sold before eyeing up midfield targets.

The winger currently turns out for Sevilla but spent the second half of last season on loan with Turkish club Istanbul Basaksehir.
The La Liga outfit are looking to sell Januzaj in order to raise cash for a new midfielder and centre-back.
And Mundo Deportivo now claim Saudi side Al-Tai could make the Spanish club’s wish come true.
Al-Tai finished ninth in the Saudi Pro League last season.

With Januzaj appearing to not have a future in Spain, a deal would represent European quality heading to a lesser Saudi team.
Most major stars have headed to one of the four clubs owned by the nation’s Public Investment Fund – Al-Ittihad, Al-Nassr, Al-Ahil and Al-Hilal – who also own Newcastle.
While the European window shuts on September 1, the Saudi window does not close until September 20.
This means there is plenty of time for the two parties to strike a deal.

Januzaj has an estimated market value of £5.2million.
He showed promise when breaking into the United first team during David Moyes’ ill-fated time in charge of United back in the 2013/14 season.
But he never managed to consolidate this momentum and was eventually sold to Real Sociedad in 2017.
He then joined Sevilla on a free transfer on 2022.

England defender Dier has reportedly told the club he wants to see out his contract which ends next year and leave as a free agent.
Dier joined Spurs back in 2014 from Sporting for £4million and has made a staggering 270 appearances for the club.
However, the 29-year-old has since fallen down the pecking order under Agne Postecoglou due to the arrival of Micky van der Ven.
The Dutchman, 22, joined the Lilywhites from Wolfsburg in a £43m deal and has signed a six-year deal.

Premier League rivals Fulham have made an enquiry for Dier ahead of Friday’s deadline.
Meanwhile, Paris Saint-German are creeping up again to reignite their interest in midfielder Tanguy Ndombele.
This is the third transfer window the French champions have asked about the 26-year-old as they consider another attempt to snatch the former French international.
Club-record signing Ndombele has had loan spells at Lyon and Napoli while being at Spurs.
