Al-Ittihad launched a last-minute £150million bid for the Egyptian on transfer deadline day.
However, Liverpool turned down the huge offer and refused to sell their star man at the last minute.
Club chiefs are now said to be bracing themselves for another bid in January.
And Jurgen Klopp has been scouting for a potential replacement just in case Salah does move on.

According to Sport Bild, the Liverpool boss has come down on Malen from Borussia Dortmund.

Chiesa, 25, could fit the bill and his contract is set to expire in 2025.
According to Calciomercato, United want to agree a deal for Chiesa in January to bolster their wide options.
Juve are expected to demand a fee in excess of £52million for the Italian international.
Chiesa currently earns around £80,000 a week in Turin.

His club are hoping to agree a one-year extension on similar money in upcoming weeks, before sitting down for more long-term talks.

But he has looked more himself this term, scoring four goals and laying on an assist in his first six appearances.
Meetings are set to take place between Juventus chiefs and Chiesa’s agent Fali Ramadani in the coming weeks.

Sancho, meanwhile, doesn’t look likely to return to contention at Old Trafford any time soon.
He has not featured since August, having been initially dropped for his side’s trip to Arsenal on September 3 for what Ten Hag claimed were poor performances in training.

The 23-year-old subsequently refuted his manager’s claim, and said that he was being made a “scapegoat”.
Sancho has since reportedly been banned from all first team facilities, including the canteen.
Ten Hag, 53, will not entertain the idea of re-integrating the former Borussia Dortmund star until he apologises.
Dortmund are among the teams interested in signing Sancho in January.
While Serie A strugglers Roma are also believed to be keen.

Chelsea legend Frank Leboeuf names five players club should make January transfer moves for

The 51-year-old has only managed to secure one win and two draws from their opening six Premier League matches.
That is despite owner Todd Boehly and Clearlake splashing out over £1BILLION on players over the past year.
Supporters, who have no European football to look forward to this term, were provided with a glimmer of hope of some silverware last night when summer signing Nicolas Jackson secured them victory over Brighton in the Carabao Cup.
However, former Chelsea defender Leboeuf, who won two FA Cups, a League Cup and the Uefa Cup and Super Cup during his five years at the club, believes Poch still needs a lot more to get them back on top.

The French 1998 World Cup winner told Casinos En Ligne: “Chelsea need a striker and an experienced midfielder.
“I said last season that [Aleksandr] Mitrovic would be good – he’s not world-class, but he’s a leader and a fighter.
“Victor Osimhen is having problems at Napoli, and maybe Chelsea can go for him in January.
“There’s also Nantes’ Mostafa Mohamed – I think he could do a good job.

“Chelsea also need help in midfield, someone like Toni Kroos or Luka Modric. They may be older and not play as many games, but they could definitely serve the club well.”
The prospect of any of the above arriving in West London appear to be slim due to a mix of reasons.
Mitrovic left neighbours Fulham for Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal in a £46m move last month.
And Boehly’s transfer strategy has been to target younger players that should have a large resale value rather than veterans.
That would likely rule out Real Madrid’s experienced midfield duo Kroos, 33, and Modric, 38.
Nantes Egyptian forward Mohamed, 25, would fit the bill and has four goals in five Ligue 1 matches this term.
Meanwhile, they have been linked with Napoli ace Osimhen for months, and this week’s social media scandal could help them in that pursuit.

The hotshot also opted against taking a penalty after being mocked by the Italian club’s TikTok account.
Napoli’s official TikTok page shared a video mocking the forward for missing a spot kick in their 0-0 draw with Bologna on Sunday.
The now deleted clip enraged Osimhen and the rest of the squad – and that appeared to lead to him deciding against taking a pen yesterday as he handed over spot-kick duties to Piotr Zielinski, who made no mistake to put the Gli Azzurri 1-0 up.
Another now-deleted post reportedly saw the club release a video featuring a cropped photo of Osimhen’s head on a coconut with audio over the clip saying: “I’m a coconut.”
It’s widely viewed as a racial slur.
Osimhen’s agent, Robert Calenda, wrote on X on Monday: “What happened today on Napoli’s official profile on the TikTok platform is not acceptable.
“A video mocking Victor was first made public and then, but now belatedly, deleted.

The 21-year-old full-back has been in remarkable form for both club and country – attracting interest from a the Premier League’s big-hitters in the process.
SunSport exclusively revealed earlier this year that City were chasing Hickey, who was then rated at £30m.
And Pep Guardiola remains keen on the Bees star, despite seeing his side win six out of six in a flawless start to the season.
But it won’t be easy, with the Mirror reporting title rivals Arsenal and Liverpool, as well as neighbours United interested too.

German giants Bayern Munich who already poached Harry Kane from the Prem this summer, are also keen.
And Hickey’s performances have seen his price-tag continue to rise too, with Brentford set to demand at least £50m.
Bees boss Thomas Frank will be gutted if he loses another key asset with Rico Henry sidelined due to a serious knee injury, and suspended talisman Ivan Toney set to depart in January.
Frank spoke about Hickey’s versatility and importance in the Bees squad.

He said: “With Aaron there is a lot of talk about whether he is a right back or a left-back, but I am in that privileged position that he can play on both sides and will most likely go on the left.
“He is both-footed and has huge ability, we don’t have that many full-backs so he is very important.
“He is a player we signed a year ago with big ambitions and his future and it is going in the right direction for him.”
Gunners boss Mikel Arteta has made it clear how much he rates Hickey’s ability to play on either flank and is ready to fight for his signature.
United meanwhile are desperate to add to their full-backs with Luke Shaw and Aaron Wan-Bissaka suffering injuries.
Liverpool are keen to reboot what Jurgen Klopp is calling ‘Liverpool 2.0’ with youthful talent and Hickey fits the bill perfectly.
The Brentford star started out as a left-back for Hearts before making his way to the Serie A side Bologna in 2020.
Hickey then made his debut in 2022 for the Premier League and has since made a remarkable start under Frank. More

Chelsea line up TWO replacements for out-of-favour defender Marc Cucurella with Boehly set to continue splashing cash

But he’s cut a desolate figure after struggling to impress.
And Cucurella is yet to appear in the Premier League under new boss Mauricio Pochettino, with last night’s Carabao Cup win over Brighton just his second game of the campaign.
Calciomercato claims Cucurella is now ready to jump ship in January after missing out on a deadline day loan move to Manchester United.
Chelsea are equally happy to left the Spaniard depart.

And it’s reckoned £1billion man Todd Boehly will continue his spending spree, with AC Milan star Theo Hernandez lined up as Cucurella’s replacement.
The former Atletico and Real Madrid man, 25, has 25 goals in 173 games for his Italian club.
Hernandez played a key role in their 2022 Serie A title win.
And he also helped France reach the final of last year’s World Cup, where they lost on penalties to Argentina.

However, Hernandez is tied down to the San Siro until 2026.
He was also named Milan vice-captain last season, and the Rossoneri will demand a pretty penny to let him go.
It means Chelsea are eyeing another left-back, this time in Inter Milan’s Federico Dimarco.
The 25-year-old has only had two full seasons in Inter’s first team.
But during that time he’s won two Italian Cups and two Italian Super Cups, while also reaching last season’s Champions League final.

Dimarco also knows how to find the net on occasion, hitting nine goals in 105 games for Inter.
His contract is also up in 2026, but the ace could be available at a more reasonable price. More

They have since gone on to become two of the best players in the world at Manchester City and Liverpool respectively.
Mudryk, 22, joined Chelsea midway through last season for £97million from Shakhtar Donetsk as the Blues hijacked Arsenal’s pursuit of the Ukrainian forward.

But he has endured a difficult first nine months in West London, scoring no goals and assisting just twice in 23 games.
However, club icon Nevin, 60, who spent five years at Chelsea during the 1980s, believes his former side have to keep faith in Mudryk.

Speaking to OLBG, he said: “Mykhailo Mudryk is phenomenal and will come good – Chelsea cannot risk him being another Salah or De Bruyne.
“There’s a reason why Arsenal wanted Mudryk – he’s phenomenal. His pace is ridiculous and so are his skills.
“He had different problems to everyone else as he was a Ukrainian lad coming into a new country.
“There was also a massive transfer fee hanging over him, though the pressure is slightly off now due to the other fees Chelsea have paid.

“I think he has the potential to be a great forward and a great creator.
“He came into a side that wasn’t playing well, but he didn’t make it easy for himself. His numbers last season were not good.”
Mudryk has had to deal with a tough time off the pitch as his home country continues to fight a war with Russia.
But Nevin, who won the second tier during his time at Chelsea, feels the Ukrainian will eventually settle and fans will see the best of him.
He added: “I always look at the underlying player and I don’t think Chelsea want to lose him. Chelsea know better than anyone that if you let a player go, they can be world-class somewhere else.
“He came in in January, which is a tough time for players to arrive. It’s early days this season, and I still have great hopes for Mudryk when the team starts clicking.
“That could be later this season or next season. He has all the qualities that defenders hate playing against.
“If Chelsea did cut their losses, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him shine somewhere else. He’s still only 22. You’d expect him, and a lot of other Chelsea players, to start finding their best form.
“The problem is, you have so many players who aren’t at their peak yet, and that’s why you need experienced players like Thiago Silva or Ben Chilwell to help the team gel.

Townsend, 32, finds himself without a club after his Everton contract expired in June.
The winger has not played a game in 18 months following a devastating ACL injury.
Townsend came close to joining Championship winners Burnley after holding talks with Vincent Kompany.
But the Clarets pulled out of a deal to chase younger options, with Townsend admitting he was left in tears.

The ex-Newcastle and Crystal Palace man also saw moves to Turkey and Saudi Arabia fall through this month.
And the Mail claims Townsend is now back at Tottenham in a bid to keep his fitness levels up.
He joined the north Londoners as a kid in 2000 before making his pro debut nine years later.
Townsend went on to net 11 goals in 93 games before moving to Newcastle in 2015.

But there is no indication that Ange Postecoglou is planning to offer him a short-term deal.
Indeed, it’s reckoned Townsend is not actually working with the senior squad and is instead training with the Under-18s.
Opening up over his emotional Burnley rejection, Townsend told BBC Five Live: “It was probably one of the toughest conversations I’ve had in my career.
“If I was bad and knew I wasn’t going to get a contract I could prepare myself.
“But to be looking at houses, looking at schools, talking about squad numbers and then to be told the contract is no longer on offer, it rocked my world.
“The situation is I’ve not played a competitive match for 18 months so because of my age and lack of minutes English clubs can’t take that risk.
“I looked abroad and thought clubs would be desperate to sign a player of my experience but it was the same again, lack of minutes.
“That may change if results don’t go their way in the next few weeks. I’m waiting for the phone to ring now.” More

Wonderkid Liverpool transfer target, 18, reveals ‘Chelsea is my dream club… I’ve supported them since I was 8 years old’

WONDERKID and Liverpool transfer target Patrick Dorgu has revealed it is his dream to play for CHELSEA.The 18-year-old Lecce full-back only made his Serie A debut this season but Liverpool are long term admirers of the defender and are tracking his progress closely.

But in an interview with Danish outlet Ekstra Bladet, Dorgu said: “Chelsea is my dream to play for. I have been a fan of them for over 10 years, so it would be a huge dream to play for them.”
The interview may pique the interest of Chelsea’s hierarchy, who have targeted players under 25 as part of an aggressive transfer policy that has seen them spend over £1billion on players.
The club have also struggled at left-back this season, with Mauricio Pochettino opting to play centre-back Levi Colwill there in an attempt to provide defensive solidity.
The position looked to be nailed-on for vice-captain Ben Chilwell but he started the season playing in an advanced left wing position.
    READ MORE ON CHELSEA
Chilwell has since been dropped from the team as Pochettino continues to tinker in an attempt to turn the club’s fortunes around.
The Blues also have Marc Cucurella and Ian Matsen on their books who can both play the position so are hardly under stocked in that area.
A more pressing issue for the Blues is signing a forward that can be relied upon to score consistently.
Nicolas Jackson has struggled to settle at The Bridge and has so far scored just one goal in his six Premier League appearances.

Frustration has clearly boiled over for the forward and his five yellow cards in six games means he will be suspended for Chelsea’s short trip to Fulham on Monday night.
Liverpool could be a more viable option for Dorgu as The Reds look to succession plan for Andy Robertson, 29.
Kostas Tsimikas was an option as a successor, but has so far looked to only be a back-up for Jurgen Klopp’s side rather than a potential permanent first-team fixture. More
