In a statement to AFP, Mbappe revealed he informed the Ligue 1  champions of his decision to leave LAST YEAR.
His deal – believed to be worth over £500million – runs through to 2024 and has an optional extension clause to 2025.
But with Mbappe ready to run down his deal, PSG will not allow him to leave for free and will instead look to sell him.
According to El Pais, should United be taken over by Qatari investors, it could pave the way for a stunning transfer.

A move to Man Utd had been proposed by PSG’s owners, who are also from Qatar, in January.
And though Mbappe did not make a decision, Parisian sources told the Spanish paper that he stated that the project was of interest to him.
Reports in the Middle East on Tuesday claimed Sheikh Jassim has won the race to take charge at Old Trafford.
Qatari Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad al-Thani has been vying with Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s Ineos to buy United from the Glazer family.

Ineos had been the front-runners to purchase a 60 per cent stake in United, which would have seen the Glazer family stay on in a reduced role.
But according to paper Al-Watan, owned by Sheikh Jassim’s dad, the Qatari bid for Man United has been successful.

They add that following “successful” talks – an announcement of Sheikh Jassim’s takeover will arrive “soon”.
It was only last summer that United target Mbappe walked away from a move to Real Madrid in favour of extending his PSG deal.
But it has now been revealed the World Cup winner never considered committing his future any further.
A statement from Mbappe, 24, read: “I have NEVER discussed any contract renewal with PSG.
“The board has been informed since July 15th, 2022 of my decision not to extend beyond 2024 — and the letter sent was only meant to confirm what I already told them.”
Mbappe was later forced to deny rumours that he had agreed a deal to finally move to Madrid.
And Spanish sports program Carrusel Deportivo report that PSG want to sell the player to anyone BUT Real Madrid.

The Ivory Coast international will be free to leave Crystal Palace when his contract expires in two weeks.
According to The Daily Mail, his preference would be to join PSG who plan to target the winger if their move for Borussia Monchengladbach forward Marcus Thuram falls through.
PSG were looking at Thuram, 25, in the wake of Lionel Messi leaving the club and the potential sale of Neymar.
The Paris club were hoping that bringing in a number nine like Thuram would enable them to get the best out of Kylian Mbappe who prefers to operate off the left.

However they were yesterday rocked by the news that Mbappe will not renew his contract – and may be forced to sell the French forward this summer.
Zaha is also attracting interest from Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid and it is believed their Champions League status means he would favour Atletico over a Saudi payday.
This is despite the offer being made by Al Nassr being described as “generational wealth”.
Palace have not given up hope that their talisman will extend his stay at Selhurst Park however and have tabled a four year contract offer of £200,000-per-week.

Although less likely to move than some others, Phillips could leave Manchester City after a difficult first season with the club.
Phillips made just two Premier League starts for City and is on West Ham’s shortlist to replace Rice in midfield.
One England midfielder who will not change clubs this summer, though, is Jordan Henderson.
Despite Liverpool’s midfield overhaul, Henderson has two years left on his deal and is expected to remain at Anfield beyond the summer.

United are understood to be the frontrunners to land the England star as they remain in talks over a move.
Premier League rivals Liverpool had also been in the hunt for Mount but are now thought to have admitted defeat.
Despite United edging closer to signing Mount, Carragher believes one of his England team-mates is a “better fit” for the club.

Carragher has called on Erik ten Hag to sign West Ham United captain Declan Rice instead.
He told Metro.co.uk: “Mason Mount is an upgrade on Christian Eriksen in terms of where he plays.
“But going back to Declan Rice, United are one of the few teams at the top who don’t play 4-3-3, it’s usually two midfielders with Bruno Fernandes.
“Declan Rice and Mason Mount, they are very different players and it shouldn’t be one or the other but when you look at what Manchester United have got right now, I actually think Declan Rice would be a better fit for them. A lot more expensive of course.

“I do think he (Mount) is a good player and I like him, I wanted Liverpool to get him. Lots of coaches have picked him and like him.

Rice is also expected to change clubs this summer, with the Hammers anticipating bids following their Europa Conference League triumph.
United are one of a number of clubs who have been linked with the 24-year-old, but Arsenal seem his most likely destination.
