And World Cup winner Mac Allister has emerged as his top target.
According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, the Reds have already opened talks with the Brighton midfielder.
Personal terms are “almost agreed” but the deal is yet to be confirmed.
However, Romano also reports that Chelsea could swoop in to hijack a potential agreement.

Mauricio Pochettino, who is set to become the new permanent manager at Stamford Bridge, is understood to be a huge admirer of Mac Allister.
Manchester City, Manchester United and Arsenal have also expressed an interest in signing the Argentina international.
Brighton reportedly value him at around £70million, but the Seagulls could receive much more should a bidding war take place.
Liverpool are also keen on the prospect of signing Chelsea star Mason Mount and Wolves ace Matheus Nunes.

But Klopp has made it clear that the Reds will look to strengthen in all areas of the pitch, not just the midfield.
In a press conference on Friday, the 55-year-old said: “We look in all departments apart from goalkeeper at the moment.
“Yes, if there is a good one (defender) out there, I would not deny it. That’s all. We look at all areas of the pitch, definitely.” More

Chelsea eye summer transfer for Brentford star David Raya but only if they can’t land No1 keeper choice

CHELSEA are reportedly ready to swoop for Brentford’s David Raya if they fail to land their No.1 goalkeeper transfer target.Chelsea have veered between Kepa Arrizabalaga and Edouard Mendy for the last few seasons.

However, both have failed to convince and now face uncertain futures while the club searches for a permanent new manager.
The West London club also need to cut costs after their heavy outlay on new additions and appear to be keen on offloading their stoppers to help balance the books.
Mendy, 31, snubbed a new six-year contract over the salary offered – which did not rival Kepa’s.
The Senegal international’s future at Stamford Bridge remains up in the air and we reported how the stopper, who has 12 months left on his deal, has been told he can go.

Meanwhile, Spaniard Kepa has also failed to convince chiefs he is the man for the long-term and they now want a new goalie to lead their resurgence after a miserable campaign under incoming manager Mauricio Pochettino.
Now journalist Dean Jones has told GIVEMESPORT that Raya “looks pretty certain to move” and that the Blues are keen.
The Spanish stopper, 27, is also entering the final year of his contract at Brentford and the Bees could offload him now rather than risk losing him for nothing in 2024.
Boss Thomas Frank recently admitted that Raya could depart and that his value has decreased to £40m due to his contract status.

Now Jones has said: “Raya looks pretty certain to move and now that Brentford are making new goalkeeper plans it’s just a case of finding his new home.
“Chelsea’s move for a goalkeeper is something that Mauricio Pochettino wants but they will have to resolve the situation first in-house as they have two big names in Kepa and Mendy.
“Mendy seems the one most likely to, he’s more attainable financially, and easier to gauge interest in sources have told me, but that still could take some time.
“From conversations I’ve had with contacts it feels like their interest in Raya is legit, but I also think they prefer Andre Onana, just as Tottenham do.
“It’s very early days but it’s not beyond imagination that Raya simply ends up signing for whichever team Onana doesn’t choose to join.” More

But the England international’s struggles continued at the start of this season and now he has found himself regularly warming the bench.
Despite being linked with a transfer switch to both Tottenham and Paris Saint-Germain, exclusively revealed by Sun Sport, the defender has been adamant that he is happy at United.
However, Jaap Stam is adamant that Maguire’s time is up at his former club.
The Dutchman, who won the Premier League three times during his three-year stint under Sir Alex Ferguson, told Adam Catterall on the debut episode of Full Circle, presented by Bet365: “If I was Maguire, looking at him and how it’s working out for him, or how it’s going this season, I would have said [he should leave], and I think that’s best for him as well because he needs to play.

“You’re at a certain age that you want to play, you need to play football. It seems like Ten Hag doesn’t always believe in Maguire.
“I think the best thing to do is to go somewhere where you can play week in, week out.”
And Stam explained that he knows full well how hard it is to leave United.
He called his arrival at the Theatre of Dreams in 1998 from PSV the “greatest moment” of his career but was shunted out of the exit door by Fergie following a fall-out with the iconic manager over the release of a controversial autobiography.

Stam added: “That was a very low point… The book deal of course was a big part of that.
“I could have stayed, of course, I could have said to the club that I don’t want to leave.
“Eventually, I might play again, but the manager at that time went with different players… I would be on the bench. And he knew with my mentality, and the type of player I was, that I always wanted to play.” More

Arsenal look to have spurned the Premier League title after leading the way for almost the entire season.
Defeat to Nottingham Forest on Saturday evening would clinch the title for Manchester City.
And even if the Gunners take three points at the City Ground, Pep Guardiola’s men will seal a fifth league crown in six seasons with a win over Chelsea on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Orban will be hoping his performances this season can convince Man Utd to sign him ahead of the likes of Harry Kane and Victor Osimhen.

Many are speculating whether it may have been Kane’s final appearance at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium amid speculation surrounding a potential move away.
He is preparing to enter the final 12 months of his contract in North London.
Manchester United are being heavily linked with a move for the Lilywhites’ all-time record scorer.
And Crouch, 42, who spent two seasons with Tottenham between 2009 and 2011, revealed before the game with Brentford that he had discussed Kane’s future with the man himself.

Speaking on BT Sport, he said: “I did ask him the question (is it his last home game for Spurs) and he was very diplomatic in his answer. I don’t think even he knows.
“He might have ambitions to go somewhere else and potentially win a trophy but it’s not just down to him, he still has a year left.
“There’s a man at the club that doesn’t want to lose his star player and what would it mean to these fans to lose a player of Kane’s calibre?
“Where can he go? Manchester City City is sewn up now. Manchester United is the only real option I can see. You can’t go to Chelsea. You can’t go to Arsenal.

“Newcastle is potentially an option but I still feel that’s a sideways move. Newcastle got great potential but I feel like he might as well stay at Tottenham.”
Kane has scored 277 goals in 433 appearances for Spurs.
And while the team have endured a disappointing campaign, Kane has maintained a fine goalscoring record – bagging 30 goals in 48 games.
It is understood he would set Man Utd back around £100million if they attempted to sign him this summer.
But the Red Devils are also interested in Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, while Benfica’s Goncalo Ramos is also in the frame.
After Crouch’s comments, Rio Ferdinand added: “You need the answer from him. We need to hear from Harry. He’s very guarded on what he wants to talk about regarding his future which is understandable.
“It’s down to what he sees as the benchmark for his career. What does he want out of his career?
“Does he want to beat the personal accolades of being top goal scorer for England, a one club man at Spurs and dominating all the stats? Or does he want more onus on it being a team sport and winning things as a team?'” More
