Tottenham in talks to sign Joe Rodon in deadline-day transfer but trying to lower Swansea’s asking price to £15m

TOTTENHAM are hoping to get Swansea to lower their price for Joe Rodon to £15million.
The North London side want to seal a deadline-day deal for the defender.

Spurs saw a £7m bid for the Wales international rejected by the Championship club two weeks ago.
But they still retain hope of reaching an agreement before the 5pm cut-off today.
The Swans have insisted they value the 22-year-old at £18m and have been holding out hoping to get top price for the centre-back.

But Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has been reluctant to go to that price.
He has already splashed out big this summer bringing in Gareth Bale, Sergio Reguilon, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Matt Doherty.
Levy would prefer to come up with a package which sees an up-front payment in the region of £10m with further instalments of £5m.
Spurs believe that will be enough to tempt Swansea into doing a deal now for Rodon.

The centre-half is regarded as one of the best talents outside the top flight.

Jose Mourinho has made it clear he wants to strengthen his options in the centre of his defence after Jan Vertonghen left North London at the end of last season.
Should the two clubs find an agreement over the next few hours then it is unlikely personal terms would be an issue to sort out.

Liverpool looking to offload five players before transfer window closes on Friday including Harry Wilson

LIVERPOOL are looking to offload as many as five players before the domestic transfer window closes today, reports say.
Harry Wilson could be one of those on the move as Jurgen Klopp looks to trim down his squad ahead of this weekend’s huge Merseyside derby.

Although the winger did feature in the Reds’ Carabao Cup defeat against Arsenal earlier this month, he is not seen as part of the manager’s plans and could be one of a handful shown the door before the 5pm deadline today.
The others at risk include Ben Woodburn, Herbie Kane, Nat Phillips and Liam Millar, according to the Express.
Wilson’s asking price is reportedly around the £20million mark, but no club has yet to meet that valuation.
This is despite the cue of Championship teams interested in the 23-year-old.

They include Cardiff, who have emerged this morning as the favourite to acquire his services in a loan deal.
The Welsh club appear to have nipped ahead of their rivals Swansea who yesterday were positioning themselves to pounce.
Derby and Nottingham Forest are also believed to be involved in the tug of war.
The interest in Wilson comes after an impressive loan spell with Bournemouth.

Young Welshman Woodburn has also been linked with a move away from Anfield.
The attacker, who turned 21 yesterday, was rumoured last month to be heading to Dutch side Sparta Rotterdam.
Midfielder Kane is set to leave permanently, according to the Liverpool Echo, with Barnsley close to securing his signature.
Phillips and Millar are also rumoured to be catching the eye of Championship clubs in what is set to be a busy day of departures.

The Reds have already managed to clear out some fringe players this window.
They include forgotten man Nathaniel Clyne, who was picked up by Crystal Palace on a free yesterday.
Loris Karius has also gone out on loan, while Dejan Lovren and Adam Lallana have left permanently.

Arsenal preparing to hijack £35m transfer swoop for Pau Torres from under noses of Man Utd in January to bolster defence

ARSENAL are preparing to hijack Manchester United’s £35million transfer swoop for Pau Torres in January, according to reports.
Both clubs are still thought to want to bring in another centre-back to bolster their defences when the window reopens.

And according to Spanish news outlet todofichajes.com, Mikel Arteta and Edu have a plan to land Torres.
The Villarreal defender, 23, has attracted plenty of attention over the past couple of years – including from both Arsenal and United.
Now the two Premier League clubs are reportedly ready to battle it out for his signature.

Torres joined Villarreal way back in 2002 and progressed right through the academy, C team, B team and made his first-team debut in 2016 in a Copa del Rey clash.
He spent the 2018-19 season on loan at Malaga before returning last year to seal his spot in the heart of Villarreal’s defence.
His strong performances saw him win his first Spain cap in November 2019, coming on as a substitute for Sergio Ramos and scoring a minute later in the 7-0 thumping of Malta.
Arsenal brought in Gabriel Magalhaes in the summer and made Pablo Mari’s move permanent while David Luiz was handed a contract extension.

Gabriel, Luiz and Rob Holding have started the season but the Gunners also have Calum Chambers, William Saliba, Shkodran Mustafi and Sokratis.

Konstantinos Mavropanos is on loan with Stuttgart for the season.
But with Mustafi, Sokratis and Luiz expected to be moved on in the coming year, the addition of Torres would further strengthen Arsenal’s defence – if they can convince ex-boss Unai Emery to do business.
For United, meanwhile, a centre-back is a major priority.
Victor Lindelof, Eric Bailly and Harry Maguire have all struggled for early-season form while Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo were frozen out.
The Red Devils sold Chris Smalling to Roma in the summer but did not bring in a centre-half.
The report adds Dayot Upamecano was the first-choice option for both Arsenal and United but Liverpool are in pole position to land the RB Leipzig and France star.

West Ham edge closer to £30m Said Benrahma transfer after Brentford winger ‘completes first part of his medical’

WEST HAM have edged closer to finalising a £30million transfer for Said Benrahma after the winger completed the first part of his medical, according to reports.
The Hammers are keen to land the Brentford star before the domestic transfer deadline at 5pm today.

West Ham will be desperately hoping there are no hiccups and they can get the move over the line in time.

It is understood the transfer fee is £25m up front with a further £5m in performance-related add-ons.
And according to The Athletic, Benrahma underwent the first part of his medical on Thursday.

The report adds the two London clubs agreed a deal last weekend before personal terms were ironed out with Benrahma in midweek.
There were fears a deal may have been off the cards as David Moyes’ side pursued Bournemouth forward Joshua King but the Algerian looks set to join instead.
The Bees wide man, 25, has been linked with a move to the Premier League throughout the summer following their failure to win promotion last season.
Benrahma was linked with the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal earlier in the window before Crystal Palace emerged as favourites to land him.

However, SunSport revealed the ex-Nice forward may have priced himself out of a move with his £16million contract demands, wanting at least £60,000 per week on a five-year deal.

    2

The percentage of answers have been round up or down from their decimal points

Benrahma, who is seeing former team-mate Ollie Watkins banging in the goals for Aston Villa, missed the first five games of the new season but came off the bench in the Championship clashes with Millwall and Preston.
In the Carabao Cup, however, his double against Fulham set up a quarter-final with Newcastle.
West Ham have begun the season strongly with Michail Antonio, Jarrod Bowen and Pablo Fornals all hitting early form.
But allowing Felipe Anderson out on loan to Porto and the controversial sale of Grady Diangana to West Brom mean there is scope for an extra attacker to bolster the squad and Benrahma fits the bill. More

Juventus ‘preparing world record £360million Kylian Mbappe bid and could use Cristiano Ronaldo in swap transfer to PSG’

JUVENTUS are reportedly preparing a world record £360million bid to lure Kylian Mbappe to the club.
Italian outlet Tuttosport claim the Serie A champions are willing to sacrifice Cristiano Ronaldo in order to land the Paris Saint-Germain star.

    1

The report adds that Juve would be unable to accommodate both the five-time Ballon d’Or winner and French superstar Mbappe.
That could prompt Andrea Pirlo’s side to include Ronaldo in any deal to bring the World Cup winner to Turin.
Yet it is said that it is unlikely PSG accept losing their prize jewel Mbappe, 21, to receive a 35-year-old Ronaldo with his £540k-a-week wages in return.

However, SunSport previously reported that the Ligue 1 giants were considering a move for the former Real Madrid superstar.
Ronaldo has been previously linked with the French side, but is intent to see out his contract at Juventus which ends in 2022.
It had been claimed that he almost joined the Parisians earlier this year but the move never materialised.
His agent Jorge Mendes had also met PSG sporting director Leonardo in a bid to push the deal through.

But it seems the club will be denied the chance to form an all-star attack with Ronaldo, Mbappe and Brazilian superstar Neymar.

Man Utd ‘tried to sign Martin Odegaard several times’ but never pulled off transfer for Real Madrid star

MANCHESTER UNITED reportedly failed in several bids to land Real Madrid star Martin Odegaard.
Spanish outlet Marca claim the Red Devils were prepared to pay big money for the Norwegian following his performances while on loan at Real Sociedad last season.

    1

Yet the report adds that Madrid held off interest from the Old Trafford outfit to bring Odegaard back to the Bernabeu this summer.
But it was just the latest effort from United to land the attacker, who first registered an interest in him in 2014, when he was 15.
Odegaard was making a name for himself as a teenager for local side Stromsgodset but turned down England for Spain.

Speaking in 2015, he said: “I visited Liverpool, the two Manchester teams and they were all very nice.

“But my choice was Real Madrid and I am very happy with that.”
United then returned for Odegaard last October with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in charge as the Norwegian was keen to swoop for his young compatriot.
SunSport also revealed that club scout Marcel Bout was spotted watching Odegaard in Sociedad’s 3-0 win over Valencia in February.
And Madrid were even thought to have offered the playmaker to United in a potential deal for Paul Pogba before the summer.

Former wonderkid Freddy Adu returns to football aged 31 and signs for 15th club after joining Osterlen FF

The 31-year-old has agreed a deal to join his 15th club after a two-year break from the sport.

Adu, 31, was sidelined in recent years by lower back issues that have since been resolved. He has spent the past two years serving as a youth soccer coach in Maryland when he was approached by Osterlen with a chance to play again.
    — Ives Galarcep (@SoccerByIves) October 14, 2020

The ex-United States seemingly hung up his boots after leaving Las Vegas Lights in 2018.
Yet Adu will now ply his trade in the third tier of Swedish football following Osterlen’s promotion from the fourth division.
According to journalist Ives Galarcep, the Ghanian-born star was coaching at youth level in Maryland when he was approached by Osterlen.

Adu – once famously dubbed ‘the next Pele’ – was touted as the biggest prospects around as a teenager.
He appeared in lucrative US TV ads with the Brazilian icon he was tipped to follow when he was just 17.
Adu became the youngest professional athlete in the history of theUnited States when he penned a contract with DC United at just 14-YEARS-OLD.
The winger became the youngest scorer in MLS history and faced 18-year-old Lionel Messia and Argentina in the 2005 Fifa World Youth Championships.

Billed as the battle of two wonderkids of their generation, Adu was remarkably considered superior to the Barca star despite only being 16.

And the buzz surrounding the attacker reached fever pitch with a trial at Manchester United a year later.
Yet over a decade after their first meeting, Messi has gone on to claim six Ballon d’Or awards while Adu has shifted around from club to club.
The journeyman has played for fourteen teams in eight countries including several in his homeland and the likes of Portuguese giants Benfica.
